Treaclepie19 all of your feelings are valid and you deserve a space to express them. Please keep sharing. Flowers

Is anyone else having a little wobble and worry in the "between 12 and 16 weeks appointments" phase. I think because I can't feel them yet it's hard to believe they are still in their sometimes... 12-week scan went well so I know I should have peace of mind, but, I just feel a bit in the middle of nowhere. I remember from my DS (11 years ago 🙀) that once they start moving the nerves of right down. It just seems a long way away until I'll either hear them on the doppler or start to feel them.

ashley992 · 16/10/2018 21:12

@SharedLife Yes I know exactly what you mean. It feels very odd as the symptoms are lessening but you don't really know if everything is ok with the baby, I guess we can just assume it is! My belly is growing quickly which I guess is a good sign.

SharedLife · 16/10/2018 21:14

Cute bump! I'm a big girl so have about a 5 month headstart, although it's mostly cake. Blush

Treaclepie19 · 16/10/2018 21:15

@SharedLife thank you ❤

Ladies, thank you so much. It's great to know there is so much support and that I always have someone to talk to.

monkerina · 16/10/2018 21:25

@Treacle please stay and keep talking to us! How's your day been today, anything fun planned for tomorrow?

The gap between 12 and 16 (well 20) weeks is sooooo long, when you can't necessarily feel baby move yet and get reassurance from that. I have a home doppler and am listening in to the heartbeat every few days to keep the anxiety at bay...

ashley992 · 16/10/2018 21:28

@monkerina which Doppler have you got?

Treaclepie19 · 16/10/2018 21:29

@monkerina thank you :) We went to the doctors and toddler group as planned. It's been tough but I've managed to keep going.
Tomorrow we're meeting a friend for Costa and then taking my mom shopping so should be a nice busy day :)

monkerina · 16/10/2018 22:08

Sounds like that should keep you busy! Smile

My doppler is in the other room and I'm laaazy and in bed Grin but it's something like a sonaline B?? £10 off ebay in 2015. They're advised against by midwives and the NHS because 1) it can be difficult to find the heartbeat/distinguish it from yours, especially early on and 2) some people have relied on them for reassurance when they've felt reduced movements later on, leading to unnecessary increased stress/false reassurance/not getting help when baby is in trouble. That said, with a history of MMC I find it really, really helpful to be able to find baby's heartbeat occasionally and know they're still currently alive (if nothing more) during the long wait between scans and before movements are felt. During my last pregnancy I stopped being able to find the hb at 13 weeks and knew something was wrong when I went for the 12 week scan a few days later, and it was a lot easier to bear (although a horribly long wait for confirmation of what I already knew).

clared55 · 16/10/2018 22:24

@sharedlife I completely agree. Counting down to my 16 week appointment next week and 20 week scan on 20th November!

@treacle I completely agree with what others have said. It's great you feel able to share your anxieties with us and I hope it helps you a bit!

ashley992 · 16/10/2018 22:36

@clared55 we must have similar due dates as those dates are the same as mine. I'm due 8th April

Treaclepie19 · 16/10/2018 22:48

@clared55 thank you, it does help. I deal with things by talking and I find loneliness horrendous so it really is helpful.

clared55 · 17/10/2018 06:59

@ashley992 I'm due on 12th April so pretty close! My 20 week scan was booked in before my dating scan when my original EDD was 10th April so it's a bit before I'll actually be 20 weeks. Is it your first?

sodababy2 · 17/10/2018 07:43

Hi everyone, sorry not been posting much.

@Treaclepie19 I've been thinking about you a lot. I can't imagine how stressful the wait is.

@SharedLife - yes, I remember the wait from 12-16 weeks being tough last time. I feel a bit better this time because I've really popped out in last week or so, so at least it feels real now! I'm 15 weeks today and fully in maternity clothes now.

20 week scan is booked for 26th November but I'm 'lucky' as I'm quite high risk so I've got another scan in 2 weeks time.

Anyone else suffering from constipation? Any helpful remedies?!

Treaclepie19 · 17/10/2018 07:45

@sodababy2 Thank you xxx

I've been given lactulose for constipation which didn't work with my son but seems to this time.
Last time I had to have fybogel.

Treaclepie19 · 17/10/2018 07:45

Oh and my 20 week scan is also the 26rh November if we get that far. I have had one the past two weeks though because of my dating scan and then checking baby over for soft markers.
Monday I'll have another because they're doing the amnio.

sodababy2 · 17/10/2018 07:50

Thanks @Treaclepie19. I used lactulose last time and hated it but was on iron tablets so the constipation was much worse.

Fingers crossed we both have a positive 20 week scan on 26th Nov xx

monkerina · 17/10/2018 13:37

How's your day going @Treacle? Hope shopping etc is keeping you busy Smile

My 20 week scan is on the 20th November. Feels a long way away!

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 17/10/2018 14:16

Ive got my 20 week scan on the 26th too! I’ll be 20+2 by then, all being well.

italianwifey · 17/10/2018 15:26

I’m jealous, mines not until the 5th Dec when I’ll be nearly 22 weeks! Having a scan on 27th though to find out the sex :-)

MigMog · 17/10/2018 15:36

Been getting these lower abdomen, like low pelvis cramps on and off today.

Not really painful. Just dull aches for a while then they go.

Put my mind at rest ladies. Stretching do you think?

No massive pain, blood and feels too low for uterus anyway (14 weeks and I know that's moving on up now)

Treaclepie19 · 17/10/2018 15:41

Thanks @monkerina :)
It's not going too well today. Everything feels too much. This afternoon's shopping didn't go as planned and my son is being a little monster. Very much counting down to when my husband's home!

Ohnonotanotherusername · 17/10/2018 15:53

Definitely sounds like stretching to me @MigMog I think it's fine as long as it's not severe and there's no blood.

I had my consultant appointment today, they want to keep me as consultant led, so no midwife led unit for me. On the plus side, this means I'll have extra scans at 28 and 36 weeks, so I'm trying to look in the bright side.

SheRaTheAllPowerful · 17/10/2018 17:13

@Treaclepie19 I hope your little boy goes to bed tonight and gives you a bit of respite Flowers it’s so hard not to worry but try to flip the odds that you still have a high percentage that there could be no issues, we are all here cheering you on and sending best wishes. How long is your husband away for? X

sodababy2 · 17/10/2018 17:16

I'll be 20 + 6 on my scan @ChocolateChipMuffin2016 so we must be close in dates!

@MigMog - I've had those pains for about a week now too. I think it's normal - there's lots going on in there!

@Ohnonotanotherusername - I'm consultant led too. Definitely trying to see the positives as more scans etc which appeals to my anxiety!

@Treaclepie19 thinking of you ❤️
