Anyone else?

I have quite long cycles but using OPKs, I have a rough idea of when I ovulated and have just got the faintest of lines. So 30 April or 1 May for me! Eek.

Another 1 for bowel issues! I have IBS anyway but I’m finding I’m going from urgency to backed up in the same day which is most unusual for me. Also had some really sore shooty type pains on and off which I’m putting down to the backed up bowels...hey it’s all worth it in the end! Doesn’t mean it’s remotely pleasant at the time tho.

Teladi · 16/09/2018 21:38

Things have slowed down for me in the bowel department too but when I do need to go, I Need To Go and quick about it.

I've been feeling a bit emotional on and off too but I'm not sure how much of that is the hormones and how much is unexpected life change.

Really grateful to have this thread and read along with everyone. I'd forgotten how lonely this bit is when you don't want to tell anyone. Though you probably wouldn't be discussing bowels with them anyway...!

Firstbornunicorn · 16/09/2018 21:49

Another one with IBS here. Been so backed up, which I think is a big part of why I'm feeling so rotten. Also, had some brownish discharge which I think was caused by straining (the things we admit online eh), but gave me a minor heart attack!

Been off work most of last week, but back tomorrow as tried to get a sick line and my GP was like "I don't care how sick you are, women have babies all the time and do you think they all take 9 months off work?"

Maybe I do just need to get my big girl pants on and bring a bucket to work with me!

SurfingOwl · 16/09/2018 21:55

What a lovely GP you have @Firstbornunicorn! Any chance of seeing a different doctor?

Firstbornunicorn · 16/09/2018 21:59

@surfingowl she was a total delight Hmm

Will see how I go as sickness has eased today, but if I really can't cope, I might try to see a male doctor! I feel like half of the problem was that she was thinking "well, if I had to work through my pregnancies, why shouldn't everyone?".

However, it takes 3-4 weeks to get an appointment, so unlikely I'll be able to get anything sorted tbh.

DietCoke1 · 17/09/2018 07:13

@firstbornunicorn well she sounds like a charmer! Could you go to a walk-in-centre?

I had a 30 minute period of intense cramping yesterday evening- including me back Sad. It eased off and nothing since- hoping it was more of a wind issue than anything else.. but so difficult to place the pain if you see what I mean!

Feeling more worried today- but hoping I can distract myself. 5+1 today I think.

minnierose3 · 17/09/2018 07:31

Hi, found a tiny bit of pink blood (sorry for TMI!) this morning when I wiped I'm so worried. Never had this before with either of my other pregnancies what should I do? 😥

MynameisJune · 17/09/2018 07:39

@minnierose3 try not to panic just yet. Spotting and bleeding can be perfectly normal in pregnancy. I’d keep an eye on it this morning and maybe call your midwife or EPU after dinner if it hasn’t stopped. How many weeks are you?

minnierose3 · 17/09/2018 07:43

@mynameisjune 7+3 according to an app that was tracking periods/ovulation, feel really scared like I don't have a good feel about this

rosettesforjill · 17/09/2018 08:10

Hope everything's ok @minnierose3 - it could be nothing so try not to worry but maybe give midwife a call and see what they say xx

I am sleeping so badly at the moment Sad I'm waking 4 or 5 times a night and I'm knackered! Feeling pretty grim this morning - not really sick, just bloated and gross. Yuck.

MynameisJune · 17/09/2018 08:11

@minnierose3 seeing as you’re over 6 weeks the EPU would probably be my first port of call. They don’t scan under 6 weeks because nothing can generally be seen that early. If you’re worried call them and talk to them. They might offer a reassurance scan.

inkworks273 · 17/09/2018 08:40

Hope everything is ok @minnierose3 I think it's a good idea to call the EPU and hopefully they can put your mind at ease.

You're not alone with the cramps @Dimblebimble

I was up again with cramping last night but it definitely wasn't as intense as it has been.

Back to work this morning and I'm not looking forward to it. It can be pretty stressful and that's the last thing I need right now.

Was thinking of getting a clear blue test that tells you how many weeks. If I'm 4 + 4 what can I expect the test to say?

inkworks273 · 17/09/2018 08:44

Sorry that should have been @DietCoke1 not Dimblebimble.

MynameisJune · 17/09/2018 08:52

@inkworks273 at 4+4 you’re between 2 and 3 weeks from conception. So 2-3 weeks or even 3+ is what you want it to say. I’m 5+3 and did one this morning and got 3+. If it had said anything less then I wasn’t going to bother ringing the midwife to get a booking in appointment.

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2018 09:34

Hello everyone, haven't posted for a little while. I'm now 4+4 but no real symptoms other than intermittent cramps and some constipation (another one with IBS here). I think I'm going to go ahead with the ultrasound for polycystic ovaries, as even if they can't see the baby it will be useful to know whether I do have the condition. All going well I'm going to book an early scan for 8 weeks anyway. Off on a weekend city break his weekend and hoping I don't develop nausea in the mean time as I want to enjoy all the lovely food 🤤

inkworks273 · 17/09/2018 09:53

Thanks @MynameisJune Eek! Now I'm scared to take it!

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2018 09:57

Also this may be a silly question but...

Tickets for the play Harry Potter and the cursed child are about to be released for the first time in ages tomorrow. The affordable tickets will sell out quickly so really we need to decide now whether or not to buy them.

We've been on the mailing list waiting for them to be released, but the shows are 10th April to 28th July... and I'm due 22nd may. Would 10th April be too close to my due date to travel down to London (2.5 hours away)? Would 28th July be too soon to leave the baby with a relative overnight? This is our first so it's hard to know...

MauisLeftNipple · 17/09/2018 10:01

Dimblebimble I travelled up to London for an event a week before my son was due! 90 minute journey. I took my maternity notes with me.

MauisLeftNipple · 17/09/2018 10:03

inkworks273 these tests don't tell you about the health of your pregnancy. I would not do any further tests (I've never seen the need to do a digital one).

MauisLeftNipple · 17/09/2018 10:06

Dimblebimble sorry I didnt read your post properly. I personally would not leave a two month old with a relative overnight, esp if you think you might breastfeed. At 8 weeks you will have only just got into your breastfeeding groove (sometimes it happens by 6 weeks, but not always). I left my 3 month old for 10 hours when we went to an event. Expressed twice during that time...in the (thankfully clean) toilets.

MynameisJune · 17/09/2018 10:07

@inkworks273 I was the same this morning, sat there thinking it was going to come up with 1-2 or 2-3! Good luck.

@dimblebimble I think April would be fine you’ll be around 34 weeks and first babies usually come late so could easily have 8 weeks left at that point. Personally I couldn’t have left my 2 month old with anyone else over night only DH if it was necessary, but that’s just me. You won’t know how you’ll feel until baby is here. I was all about going back to work after 9 months, full time etc. Ended up taking 13 months off, going back part time and now have reduced my hours even more!

Also bear in mind the pregnancy may not go smoothly and you might not be able/or up to travelling. But as long as you could sell the tickets closer to the time if needed then I’d go for April.

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2018 10:20

Thanks for the replies SmileI think we will try to book the cheapest tickets possible for the earliest date in April. I think they have rules against selling them but we might be able to ask them to transfer them into someone else's name if I don't feel up to travelling.

dreaminofholidays · 17/09/2018 10:34

@inkworks @mynameisJune
I tested yesterday and today on a CBD and I'm still at 2-3 weeks but it hasn't been a week yet as DH pointed out. Fingers crossed tomorrow or Wednesday for my 3+ so nerve wracking xxx

Dimblebimble · 17/09/2018 10:36

@dreaminofholidays good luck!

I'm doing a final test on Wednesday and hoping for 3+ weeks. After that I will finally lay off the tests, I promise 🙈

MynameisJune · 17/09/2018 10:43

@freaminofholidays if you’re not even 5 weeks yet then 2-3 is probably about right.

I only took it because it shows if HCG is high enough (200+) to get a 3+ on the test. With my last MC it was 1-2 when it should have been at least 2-3 if not 3+. Had I known that at the time then waking up to bleeding the next day wouldn’t have been so much of a huge shock.

I’m ringing the midwife and sorting my booking appointment out today. It’s usually a good 3-4 weeks before they can fit you in here anyway. And I start a new job tomorrow so need to get it on one of my days off.
