Anyone else?

I have quite long cycles but using OPKs, I have a rough idea of when I ovulated and have just got the faintest of lines. So 30 April or 1 May for me! Eek.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on weight management? I’d started Slimming World just before finding out I’m pregnant but have just been reading their official policy for pregnant women and it says they don’t encourage you to keep losing weight? I’ve only lost 5lb so far and really wanted to lose more as if my BMI is too high (even though I think BMI is largely nonsense) then it’ll rule me out of the MLU but I don’t want to do anything to put the baby at risk! Not sure what to do now, do o stick to the diet but just keep an eye on not losing too much? Though so far not a problem, I seem to have gained this week - I think it’s mostly bloat!

MauisLeftNipple · 15/09/2018 08:25

CoffeeWithMyOxygen definitely speak to your GP to confirm official NHS advice.

rosettesforjill · 15/09/2018 08:27

@inkworks273 everything crossed that you have good news this morning xx

@CoffeeWithMyOxygen I have been counting calories but sticking to my goal weight maintenance calories - I don't have too much left to lose so if I lost anything it would be very slowly! Then will add more calories in second and third trimesters. I think it's important to give yourself a bit of a break though (and I had a really terrible weekend last weekend - so much food 🙈)

MynameisJune · 15/09/2018 08:30

@coffeewithmyoxygen I’m still doing slimming world, like you I joined just before my bfp. SW is the only midwife recommended diet club because they advocate a healthier way of eating rather than just calorie counting. You’ll likely find that once you tell the group leader that they won’t weigh you (i think).

I’m going to keep going for now, the food I eat on SW is much healthier than my usual diet so I figure it’s better than going back to that. Losing a small amount of weight over time shouldn’t hurt the baby as long as you’re not starving yourself and getting obsessed about it.

Myheartisbeating · 15/09/2018 08:36

Can I join? Got a positive this morning. I tested a bit early as it’s our anniversary so thought I’d see if I could surprise my husband and there we go! We’ve got one baby already, he’s almost 21months. Excited and shitting it at the same time. Feeling a bit nauseous, but that could be the horse dose folic acid I’m having to take (bleurgh).

Myheartisbeating · 15/09/2018 08:36

Should have said, EDD between 25-28th May!

SurfingOwl · 15/09/2018 08:41

@frankiefumbles I really want say the 28th when dating you and go so far out as to say the ovulation test was wrong, or maybe a short surge. But in my experience, I ovulate later after a miscarriage and so you are probably right about the 30th or maybe even that was just in your fertile week and you ovulated even later still. From a scan perspective can you assume the 30th and hold off going until you are at least eight weeks so you can see both a heartbeat and get a realistic measurement?

How scary @inkworks273 but please don’t underestimate how painful pregnancy cramps and digestion can be. I’ve had times when I have been doubled over in pain and assumed I’m miscarrying, but all has been fine. Other times I have felt fine or just had a dull ache and miscarried. Were you tested for a uti?

Solidarity on the anxiety @thatshabbychick. Don’t forget that vivid dreams and feeling hungover are symptoms. Lots of women don’t have morning sickness, or other well known symptoms, and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything at all regarding the health of the baby.

How much is it hurting @starmist? It might be worth getting checked out if it is very painful. How long since your last c section?

If you are anything like me @CoffeeWithMyOxygen then the bloat means it is too hard early on to know what is weight that could come off and what will just go before long anyway. I’d be inclined to just try to eat sensibly and not worry about adhering to a specific eating plan.

How is everyone today?

SurfingOwl · 15/09/2018 08:42

Congratulations and welcome @Myheartisbeating and happy anniversary.

dreaminofholidays · 15/09/2018 08:53

@inkworks273 sorry to hear about the cramping and I hope the EPU can give you some answers and advice this morning

@coffeewithmyoxygen I'm also wondering what to do for the best weight wise.

@frankiefumbles That's a tricky one. I think if you want to be conservative go for the later date.
I had something quite similar this month. Last month I ovulated on cd25 (static smiley on CBD). Thid month we DTD on either 25th or 26th and again on 1st and I never had a positive ovulation test. I was actually doing tests up to the day before I did my pregnancy test but I do remember the line being stronger on the first one I did so we must have literally just caught it somehow then. Which means this cycle the absolute latest I ovulated is cd18. Is it possible you caught at the start as well? xx

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 15/09/2018 08:56

Thanks guys, I think you’re all right about the diet. I’ll stick to Slimming World for now as it’s getting me eating better and just see how I go. I’ll try not to worry too much about what the scales say, it’s going to go up as baby grows no matter what I do I suppose!

inkworks273 · 15/09/2018 09:00

Thanks everyone.

@SurfingOwl Yes I was tested for a uti but it was negative. A sample has also been sent away for testing so I should get the results for that on Monday.

After the dr saying I had faint lines last night,
I took a frer this morning and the line was really dark. Just as dark as the control line. It also showed up immediately.

I called and spoke to a midwife this morning. She was really nice and said she's hopeful it's just cramps due to my period being due. She said there's no point in scanning as it's too early for anything to show up.

She advised me to take it easy, have a warm bath and take regular paracetamol.

It's really just a waiting game now.

Starmist · 15/09/2018 09:15

@inkworks273 that’s reassuring about the frer. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Congratulations @myheartisbeating how long were you trying? We have a 12 month old & we have moments of being excited & moments of thinking what the hell are we doing & how will we cope?!

@surfingowl it was hurting quite a bit last night though it didn’t last that long. No issues today. Had a c section just 12 months ago. I’ve consulted dr Google & it seems it’s quite common. I’ll mention it to the midwife when I have my booking in appointment (whenever that might be, I’m waiting to hear!)

UntilTheVeryEnd · 15/09/2018 09:23

@coffeewithmyoxygen you can stay on SW when pregnant. You need to inform your consultant and she will give you a special book and information as you get extra HEa and b etc - your midwife will then have to sign their form and give her consent. They will emphasise maintaining rather than loosing. I happen to believe that being on SW is a healthy lifestyle - what midwife wouldn’t want their mums to eat home cooked healthy meals full of veg and fruit? Defo keep going 😊

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 15/09/2018 09:27

Thanks @UntilTheVeryEnd Smile I don’t have a consultant as I don’t go to a group, just follow it myself at home, hence I wasn’t sure!

UntilTheVeryEnd · 15/09/2018 09:34

I’m pretty sure you get 2 extra HEa and 1 extra HEb - but don’t quote me! I’ll need to get a look at my cousins book but I’m not out and proud yet and don’t want to tip her off Wink

goldopals · 15/09/2018 10:09

I've not had the best day today. I was so tired that I went to bed at 7:30 last night and then after waking up three times for the loo couldn't sleep after 4:30. This horrible sleep meant that my emotional resilience was not great all day.

I've been so paranoid as I don't feel pregnant, and the lack of sleep has meant this has not been a pleasant day. I can't wait for my first scan in a week and a half (cannot get in any earlier).

I'm trying to stay up later tonight so I can sleep later tomorrow. I think I'll be coping better after a decent sleep. The only positive thing was I noticed that my boobs have changed; darker nipples and bigger.

SurfingOwl · 15/09/2018 10:24

It’s horrible, I know, @goldopals but tiredness, needing the loo and insomnia are all pregnancy symptoms.

DietCoke1 · 15/09/2018 10:36

@inkworks273 sorry you’re going through a tough time but that is a nice strong line so that is reassuring. Cramps are very common I’ve heard so fingers crossed it’s just a horrible symptom of pregnancy.

Congrats @myheartisbeating!

I’m worried about lack of symptoms too- keep thinking I am imagining it.

Going away for a week so hopefully that will relax me and stop me from testing! Then have an early scan booked for when I come back.

I have been eating absolute crap! Need to try and eat less beige food...

dreaminofholidays · 15/09/2018 11:39

@goldopals how far along are you? my symptoms are very close to yours. I'm either 5 weeks or just over 5 weeks xxx

goldopals · 15/09/2018 11:41

Thanks for the reassurances.

@dreaminofholidays

I'm six weeks. My mum and sister both showed symptom's later.

MissSmith80 · 15/09/2018 12:12

@goldopals
I am 5+5 (or close to that). I feel mildly hungover all of the time - restless, tired and occasional waves of mild nausea but not even had those the past 2-3 days. A bit thirsty and weeing more but that's it. I am waiting for the full on symptoms to arrive. It's all so odd because I know I am pregnant and the moment but don't particularly feel it. For now I'm going to enjoy it because who knows when it might change x

Amolly · 15/09/2018 14:11

@inkworks273 sorry your having bad pains. I hope they ease for you and that all is ok.

I'm like you all. I'm not feeling anything that screams I'm pregnant anymore. Only 4+5 at the moment and symptoms have eased. I think anything I'm feeling at the moment is just excitement. I'm desperate to do another test aha you know just to make sure it's real.

I suppose only thing I can really tell is with my boobs. Just looking at them I know. Cramps have continued but there not as strong as when af was due so I'm feeling better

Myheartisbeating · 15/09/2018 15:58

Thank you all.

@Starmist, this was our first month. Madness!

earlybirdhasanap · 15/09/2018 16:04

I thought I was feeling ok but today it's hit me like a tonne of bricks. The tiredness, the sickness. Everything.
What's everyone eating? I need easy healthy food ideas for the family. It's all gone a bit toast and fish fingers here for my dd and I'm feeling really guilty.

MissSmith80 · 15/09/2018 16:08

I'm eating really healthy at the moment. High fibre, lots of fruit and veg. Trying to get the healthy stuff in in case the sickness hits me because I know everything I eat will be beige then!
