Anyone else?

I have quite long cycles but using OPKs, I have a rough idea of when I ovulated and have just got the faintest of lines. So 30 April or 1 May for me! Eek.

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies!

@inkworks273 hope you’re okay and the cramps have abated a bit.

@thatshabbychick hope you’re managing to rest and that the light spotting has stopped now.

I’m similar @earlybirdhasanap today this sickness and bone deep tiredness has hit. Could be because I’m full of cold as well though and there is nothing I can take other than paracetamol which I’m trying to avoid (not for any real reason)

Food wise evening meals tend to be things cooked for scratch like spaghetti bolognese, vegetable curry, pasta bake, chicken fajitas. Basically anything that we can pack full of veg but is easy to cook.

BeautifulSlang · 15/09/2018 17:38

I'm 4+7 today and the only symptom I'm having is sore boobs, but that's on and off. A little concerned though that my lower right pelvic area has a hot sensation to it. Like it's burning inside. Any ideas what this could be?

Dimblebimble · 15/09/2018 18:24

Before I fell pregnant I went to the doctor about some symptoms like weight gain, acne and painful periods when not on the pill. She thought it was a worthy ruling out pcos even though I don't have the main symptoms like excess hair and irregular periods. She put me on the waiting list for a ultrasound of my uterus, and I've just had the appointment letter through today. Does it matter that I'm pregnant? Should I still go? Will I be able to see the baby? All going well I'll be just under 6 weeks.

MynameisJune · 15/09/2018 18:29

@dimblebimble it won’t be in the pregnancy scanning unit. It will be in radiography. So they won’t do a transvaginal and at just under 6 weeks you might not be able to see very much on a abdo scan. So it depends on how much you might worry if they don’t pick anything up.

MauisLeftNipple · 15/09/2018 19:40

Can I go to bed yet?

inkworks273 · 15/09/2018 19:56

Thanks everyone for your messages.

I'm feeling ok. No more cramps so far and still no sign of bleeding. I've just been laying on the couch with my hot water bottle all day taking it easy.

Still tired and boobs still sore so I'm taking it at as a good sign. It's so hard just waiting. Either for blood to show up or until I'll finally be able to get a scan.

Hope everyone's doing ok!

SurfingOwl · 15/09/2018 20:00

@Dimblebimble I don’t think they will scan you. Is there a number you can call?

@MauisLeftNipple I’ve just got into bed but typically DD1 is grumbling so I reckon my early night plans are scuppered.

Firstbornunicorn · 15/09/2018 20:31

I've been out of bed for about 2 hours total today!!!

Sickness is nasty...I seem to be able to eat small amounts ok, but drinking just makes me feel so nauseous! I haven't actually vomited in about 10 years and and scared of it, really... Got so many strategies to avoid it, but most involve staying completely still, so will be hard to carry out during work!

MynameisJune · 15/09/2018 20:54

I’ve developed a cough with my cold and everytime I cough I feel like I’m going to throw up.

This pregnancy lark is much harder second time around with a toddler to run around after!

EspressoPatronum · 15/09/2018 21:05

So far I'm actually finding it easier mynameisjune ! I was so sick even from a few days before my period was due last time and this time I don't feel sick at all yet! Just a few moments of slight nausea.

I still have no appetite at all though!

seeingdots · 15/09/2018 21:28

Amen to that @MynameisJune. I feel so much worse this time round! On the up side though there is the toddler comedy to lighten the mood - DD has been wandering around talking about how she has a baby in her tummy and patting it gently. Today even her dolly had a baby in her tummy 😂.

Bean18 · 15/09/2018 21:38

Hi ladies, can I join please? Smile

I’m 6 + 4 today, and we managed to get pregnant straight after a miscarriage at 5 weeks so we’re not getting our hopes up yet! Been struggling with a cold and now a cough for the past 2 weeks which has been horrible without any medication (nervous to even take paracetamol given previous miscarriage), and the waves of sickness over the past week. Anybody else feeling anti-social and not wanting to leave the sofa or bed?!

I feel really boring but all I can think about is doing nothing and eating bland food.

SurfingOwl · 15/09/2018 21:49

Congratulations @Bean18 and I’m sorry about your previous loss. I rarely want to leave my bed at the best of times, so am probably not the best placed person to ask!

I hope tomorrow is a better day @Firstbornunicorn

I am focusing on my scan on Tuesday and hoping there is a baby and heartbeat there.

frankiefumbles · 16/09/2018 08:11

It's so hard to catch up with everyone but I see it's almost time for a new thread so hopefully I'll see all the intros again when we move over to that thread.

@SurfingOwl how far along will you be at your scan? Hope all goes well for you. Your thoughts on my dates are really what I was hoping someone would say. I need to convince myself it's the later date because I don't want it to look too small when I eventually scan.

@dreaminofholidays it is possible I could have caught early in the cycle however it's a bit of an issue because I usually always ovulation on time. My concern is that if I'm thinking it could be the DTD sesh on 26 then that would have been my last fertile day so the earliest possible date is 26, but if it was the DTD on the 30th and I ovulated on the 30th, it could have conceived in the 48h following the 30th I believe...so I've almost got a window of a week there. I don't want to go to a 9 week scan and be told it's 8 weeks. So I suppose I'd rather assume I'm 8 weeks and have a pleasant surprise if I'm 9.

@inkworks273 glad your situation has settled. They always say cramping is normal but it doesn't help! We are all on guard!

@goldopals insomnia is the new normal. I was awake til about 1. Dog woke me at 3 for a wee and I must have fallen asleep again but woke up at 6am. It's cruel isn't it because the less sleep, the less able I am to cope with the emotional hormonal turmoil! I'm going to try a different technique. I've never been able to sleep at night so I'm going to try the 20 min nap method. How far along will you be for your first scan? Is it 7.5 weeks for you? Hope all goes well :)

@MissSmith80 I said last time "oh people with no symptoms are so lucky!" But I realise now how callous that was. Symptoms are unpleasant but reassuring. @DietCoke1 I also don't have a "sense" that something is inside and that's really bothering me.

Re food, I don't get hungry until maybe 2pm and then I thought I'd make myself pasta with jar sauce because I was being lazy. Lloyd Grossman. Tasted like floor cleaner. Greaaaaat hahaha! @Bean18 I'm all over my sofa and bed. Rest whenever you get a chance

goldopals · 16/09/2018 08:30

@frankiefumbles

My first scan is seven and a half weeks away. I was already an insomniac, but pregnancy has made it far worse. I agree that a lack of sleep does lead to a lesser ability to deal with anxiety.

I did force myself to have a nap today and am regretting it. I normally avoid them as I feel so dopey afterwards. I glad that I'm on school holidays (teacher) so hopefully I can get the naps I need.

SurfingOwl · 16/09/2018 08:46

@frankiefumbles glad it helped your thoughts. I will be early in my eighth week and 8+5 on LMP.

Patapouf · 16/09/2018 10:07

I’m glad to see that insomnia isn’t unusual, I’m also constantly sleepy. So far the nausea is fairly mild but my sense of smell is enhanced and everything tastes funny.

I think I’ll self refer to the midwife at 5 weeks, I’m currently 4+4 and still petrified it isn’t real or I’ll get to the 12 week scan and there will be nothing there. I’m hoping that once I have a booking in appointment the time will fly until my first scan but realistically I think time will drag as much as it has for the week since I had my BFP!

Firstbornunicorn · 16/09/2018 10:24

@frankiefumbles you say insomnia is the new normal. I was already a raging insomniac but I have to say that's completely gone now! Grin Maybe the status quo just flips?

frankiefumbles · 16/09/2018 14:03

@Firstbornunicorn extreme lengths to go to to cure insomnia 😂

@Patapouf I feel exactly the same about not believing it

Having a really rubbish day day. D(!)SS is over and just really irking me for no particular really. He's a bit grating anyway (I think this is always a bit the case with kids that aren't your own and the "weekend step mum" role but I desperately want him to go home and leave me in peace...yes I'm bad...no I'm not bothered right now. It's all about that nap I'm going to have when he's gone

inkworks273 · 16/09/2018 14:47

I've found that I'm falling asleep really early like 9pm latest and then waking up early which isn't like me at all.

I was woken up with some more intense cramps last night. It seems like it's going to be a regular occurrence. That's the 4th time it's happened and it's always during the night.

I can totally relate to worrying there's nothing in there. Especially with these cramps making me worry I've already miscarried.

MauisLeftNipple · 16/09/2018 16:51

inkworks273 regular night cramps sounds more like a bowel issue to me.

inkworks273 · 16/09/2018 17:10

@MauisLeftNipple I do have ibs but these cramps feel different to the ones I usually have when my ibs is playing up.

I have also been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis and have had a laparoscopy before for unexplained pelvic pain.

I'm wondering if all that on top of the pregnancy is just too much going on and that's why I'm having the severe cramping.

Thankfully it only last for 20-30 minutes before it eases off again.

Time will tell. It's so hard waiting. Wish I could fast forward these next few weeks.

MynameisJune · 16/09/2018 17:51

@inkworks273 hope the cramps calm down soon.

Also worried about going to scan and there being nothing there but I remember feeling that way last time until the sickness really kicked in.

Bone crushing tiredness here today, couldn’t keep my eyes open and napped on the sofa at 4pm this afternoon with DH and DD in the room. This just never happens usually because neither of them are particularly quiet.

MauisLeftNipple · 16/09/2018 20:14

inkworks273 normally I struggle with my bowels, however the week I found out I was pg I developed a sudden urgency in the mornings, and then cramps at night (def bowels - I could feel stuff moving around). Probably a complete coincidence though. Bowels now on the edge of struggling again. Luckily I have some massive bottles of lactulose in the cupboard to see me through until my prescription exemption comes in (haven't applied yet...).

You sound like you have a lot going on down there. Hopefully pregnancy won't exacerbate it.

SurfingOwl · 16/09/2018 20:56

I’m another one who suffers really badly with bowels in early pregnancy. It’s horrible and also really worryingly painful at times.
