Anyone else?

I have quite long cycles but using OPKs, I have a rough idea of when I ovulated and have just got the faintest of lines. So 30 April or 1 May for me! Eek.

Got my dates! Booking in appointment on the 28th September (I'll be 8.5 weeks) and scan on the 23rd October.

Ah I see. Well you wouldn't really be stealing her thunder unless you announced it to everyone surely? And by that point shes likely to have had her baby. She so far along in pregnancy too that I think it's a totally different scenario. Do whatever you're most comfortable with :)

UntilTheVeryEnd · 23/08/2018 10:08

@8DaysAWeek how do you have your scan already? Am well jealous- did they just book you in for it over the phone? That’s just fantastic... I bet you’re glad you phoned now x

8DaysAWeek · 23/08/2018 10:21

Yeah in some places in Scotland you phone a central booking number and they just took my info and dates and gave me both appointments! I was surprised. Don't think that happened with my first but it's really helpful so that DH has plenty of notice to get the scan date off. Also they are both on days where DS is in nursery so worked out great.

seeingdots · 23/08/2018 16:00

Hi @BarnabyJones and congratulations!!

You encouraged me to call too @UntilTheVeryEnd. I said I was open to considering a home birth so have to wait for a call back from the home birth team to discuss before getting a booking appointment. I guess because if you plan a home birth from the start they do all your routine appointments at home. I hadn't really given it too much thought yet though. I've had some friends that have had amazing home births in the past few months but we're about an hour's drive to the nearest hospital which puts me off the idea a bit. I'm not sure if my BMI would potentially rule it out actually. Going to have a chat with DH about it tonight. Anyone know already where they're planning to give birth?

UntilTheVeryEnd · 23/08/2018 16:23

@seeingdots I’m glad you called and got the ball rolling... I was really shocked today that the first app available was over 5 weeks away. Can’t imagine how my 12 week scan will be on time of the midwife is only seeing me at approx 10 weeks 🤷‍♀️
In regards to giving birth, I would love a home birth but sadly all my pregnancies are high risk due to pre-exsisting medical condition so I HAVE to deliver at the big hospital. Not my preference but hey ho gotta do what’s best for baby.

How’s everyone else feeling today? X

8DaysAWeek · 23/08/2018 16:27

@seeingdots I had a water birth in the hospital with DS and I'd love that again. A home birth sounds lovely, I couldnt get out of hospital quick enough last time, but I had a pretty bad tear that needed a spinal block and surgical repair so that's put me off a bit.

kiltedsheep · 23/08/2018 16:31

@UntilTheVeryEnd Thanks for the encouragement re: giving ourselves a bit of break during pregnancy when you've already got a DC to deal with!

Cheers also for the reminder re: booking an appt. It seems I can't self-refer where I am, so instead I've got a rather pointless GP appt next Tues and then will hopefully get a booking appt in good time!

I'm not as nauseous today as I was yesterday, although still mild cramps. My last pregnancy ended in MMC so you'd think I'd be nervous about the cramps, but somehow I'm feeling strangely confident that it'll all work out. I think last time round I had a really big implantation bleed - so much so that I assumed it was my period and only realised I was pregnant when I used an OPK and got bizarre results - but this time round, I've had no bleeding at all. (My first ever pregnancy, which resulted in DS, also involved an implantation bleed.)

CrystalBlaze · 23/08/2018 18:16

Evening all. Great news on all those who've got appointments - I had mine today too! Will be 9+2. Seems an age away. I feel the same as ever, sore boobs, tired. Still not feeling sick at all, touch wood.

@8Days I really like the idea of a water birth but nervous as it's my first. Are you glad you did it?

8DaysAWeek · 23/08/2018 18:55

@CrystalBlaze definitely recommend it! I was in so much pain and progressed really quickly so when they were taking me down to labour ward the midwife asked if I wanted to try the pool and honestly I couldn't care less what they wanted me to do at this point so said yes (I actually always wanted it but never planned it as I didn't want to be disappointed if one wasn't available) and as soon as I got in the water it was so much better. The room lights were dimmed and I had music on and was using the gas and air. That "established labour" part in the pool was 100x better than the bit leading up to it. Really hope I get to use one again. I don't think they are that popular for some reason so availability isn't as bad as I expected.

kiltedsheep · 23/08/2018 19:32

@8DaysAWeek
That's really interesting! It was good of them to offer it to you. I think water births are really popular around here so I always assumed it wouldn't be possible for me to have one.

My DS was a planned c-section...to be honest, I sort of feel like I dodged a bullet with that. Now I have to think about the possibility of actual, proper labour Shock

seeingdots · 23/08/2018 19:40

I definitely want a pool this time round. I was gutted I couldn't have one last time.

SurfingOwl · 23/08/2018 19:50

How is everyone feeling symptoms wise? I hardly have any but am assuming/hoping it is just because I am so early.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 23/08/2018 20:40

@SurfingOwl I was feeling great but today the nausea has begun Sad I’ve got sore boobs (which has been helped by digging my old matty bras out of storage) tiredness and bloating. Also been eating like a horse Altho I suspect that’s because subconsciously I’ve given my self license to eat for 2 haha!
I’m sure that your symptoms will rev up in the next week or so... hopefully tho you don’t have any sickness. It can be a killer x

MimiSunshine · 23/08/2018 21:08

@SurfingOwl no real symptoms for me. Although do currently have mild lower back ache but then that could be because I’ve been in the car for a lot today (c3hrs in total).

I don’t think nausea (no actual vomiting) kicked in last time until I was nearly 8 wks and only lasted for about 2 wks so I’m hoping that’s just the way this one is going to go too (trying not to stress).

I booked my booking in appointment with the midwife earlier in the week. I’ll be 8+5 so only 4 weeks to go.

For those who haven’t got theirs until they’re c10wks, try not to worry about the scan date.
I had mine at 10wks last time and still had my scan at 12+5, the only annoyance was that I got the appointment letter through with only about 5days notice which also included a weekend so a bit of a nightmare sorting out Work for my boyfriend but all fine in the end.

CrystalBlaze · 23/08/2018 21:29

I am absolutely dreading sickness to be honest. No sign yet but I'm only 5 weeks. Boobs are sore and huge and I am massively bloated.

sakuramiyagi · 23/08/2018 22:40

I wouldn't say I'm feeling nauseous but I definitely feel like I have too much saliva (lovely eh) and I'm so dizzy today.

I'm really worried about getting morning sickness.

8DaysAWeek · 23/08/2018 23:16

@kiltedsheep I don't have much knowledge on c-sections at all. Is it normal for women to have a vaginal birth after a section? Don't know why I have it in my head that a lot of women have an elective c-section second time round??

Starting to feel a bit nauseous tonight but can't decide if it's psychological or not. I had horrendous MS with DS and praying it doesn't happen again. I remember saying back then I couldn't go through that with a toddler!!!

Mejse · 24/08/2018 06:02

@UntilTheVeryEnd thanks for the advice, I think we can all be way too hard on ourselves and forget we don't need to be perfect and it's OK to ask for some help.

Last time I had an induction that ended with an emergency csection because he was back to back and his head was turned slightly to the side. The doctor said I should be able to go for a vbac this time round because it was only the position that stopped him. I would love a water birth. If it comes to having to be induced again I think I would have an elective csection instead.

Still no real symptoms here

CrystalBlaze · 24/08/2018 08:35

Morning all! How is everyone today?

8DaysAWeek · 24/08/2018 09:47

Morning! Good thanks. Just deciding what to do with the day. Had a fab idea to go trampolining with my son then quick Google made me think otherwise lol. And so the "can I do/eat/drink that in pregnancy" questions begin 😂 how are you??

positivepineapple · 24/08/2018 09:50

Hello all,

May I tentatively join you? Got my BFP this morning, we've been TTC for our first on and off for 3 years. Three previous miscarriages mean I'm very anxious.

I don't want to jinx things but this time does feel different, I've had symptoms for at least two weeks so had a really strong suspicion. Was too scared to test until AF was actually late, but the line was very strong.

Current symptoms are lots of cramping, dizziness, heightened sense of smell, bit of nausea in the mornings, tiredness, hot flushes, sore heavy boobs and crazy dreams.

Being under the recurrent miscarriage clinic means I get a reassurance scan at EPU around 7 weeks so I will need to book that. I'm also on cyclogest 400mg twice a day until second trimester, just keeping everything crossed that this is a sticky one.

My EDD is 30th April 😬

Congratulations to everyone!

tinyradish · 24/08/2018 10:50

Hi everyone & congratulations to all.

Currently only 3 weeks 5 days with a strong positive on a frer yesterday at 11dpo... so extremely early days but excited/happy nonetheless :) estimated due date 5th May 2019.

CrystalBlaze · 24/08/2018 11:39

Welcome @tinyradish and @positivepineapple! Loving the fruit and veg influx today Wink

I'm fine thanks @8Days. Starting to get used to the idea a bit more. Just been out to buy loads of comfy leggings and jogging pants as I am huge every evening.

tinyradish · 24/08/2018 13:52

Oh yeah crystalblaze, what a healthy bunch Grin

SurfingOwl · 24/08/2018 16:50

Congratulations @positivepineapple and I hope everything goes well. Our intuition is a powerful thing. I think I will ask for a seven week scan as well.

I felt mildly nauseous earlier but nothing else before or after. I do feel quite tired but it has been a busy day.
