Welcome to all the newbies on the thread!
Sorry to hear about the bleed/scare insywinsyspider, but it seems all is well again.

Just back from our scan (13 weeks) with a very camera-shy tadpole. No sooner had the midwife started that it rolled over to give us a view of its back, and resolutely refused to do anything else. We have three pictures of a very blurry blob - and I have a granny-to-be (my mum) who has been agitating for pics for weeks.

She's just going to have to wait a bit longer ....

Anyway. The consultant seems happy with everything, and at least I'm no longer seeing the witch who was dealing with my infertility (I requested anyone but her!) so I'm happy too. It means travelling to the local hospital for appointments, rather than being seen at the health centre, but frankly I'd drive a lot further to avoid that nasty piece of work.

Lizzer · 29/05/2007 17:48

Thelady, you just reminded me of what the sonographer (does that mean scan lady?) said about my bump, "its not a very photogenic baby!!!!!!!!!!!!" I've only just remembered it cos I think me and dp just blanked it out of our heads. What a thing to say!!???!! Gee, thanks....

(I do think she meant kept wriggling away, that doesn't mean 'not photogenic' - my baby will be the most beautiful baby EVER, just like all your babies will too )

Hi all! Very jelous but extremly happy that your scans are all going well. I'm really looking forward to mine on monday but still so nervous!!

Well the nursery has slapped cheek again so i'm off again!! really pissed off really. I just want to work and make the weeks go quicker! I know i shouldn't wish my life away.

My retail therapy went very well but ended up buying loads of gorgeous stuff for dd and 1 top for me!
where do you all get maternity clothes from or have done in the past?

jinxed · 29/05/2007 18:01

well, yesterday was healthy - today not so!

Breakfast : 2 slices toast

Lunch : McDonals but in my defence i picked it up on the way back from a 70 mile round trip to take dad to the airport

Tea : not sure i fancy anything huge, so probably some cereal or toast again!

Am only drinking milk, water or orange juice at the moment - cant stomach squash, and im not a big hot drinks person anyway. Ive actually consumed a whole 1ltr carton of OJ and a bottle of OJ at McDonalds so far today!

Only things Im really off at the moment are chocolate/sweets and veg! Can just about stomach some brocolli but hate the rest! Am loving fresh oranges too - reckon Ill give birth to an orangatang!

jinxed · 29/05/2007 18:02

Maternity clothes - Dorothy Perkins, Next and Mothercare! We have a new little outlet shop just opened called Select and it has LOADS of the fashionable floaty tops in meaning I can get those in a larger size and they are only about £10 each!

bambino1 · 29/05/2007 18:05

Yeah thats what me and sil discovered today. Floaty tops are a god send but its trousers. I don't hardly fit in mine anymore and I need to invest in maternity ones I think. I looked in peacocks today but they had one tiny little display which was crap. Didn't think to look in good old Dp's.

jinxed · 29/05/2007 18:07

I get quite stuck with trousers, so always end up in Next - im a short fat person you see! Dorothy Perkins used to be great for me, but they lengthened their "petite" range by 2 inches and left me stuffed!

bambino1 · 29/05/2007 18:09

how peculiar to lengthen petite!

jinxed · 29/05/2007 18:11

they used to be 27inch inside leg, now 29 inch! Great huh!!!

thelady · 29/05/2007 18:32

jinxed: why not just take up the trous using that iron-on hemming tape? I'm in-between with trouser leg lengths, so I have to take everything up by at least a bit. I iron them in place, then iron the tape in, and that's it.

Floaty tops. Wish I could wear them... I need things that make me look professional, not feminine! Hard enough when you've a head of curly/fluffy blonde hair and wear a size 16/18.

insywinsyspider · 29/05/2007 18:59

Neuro - was a v scarey bleed, walking down street shopping and was suddenly wet half way down my thighs with blood - have cried so much this weekend that now I feel a bit dazed to know its all ok, been ringing round to tell family that I'm pg, didn't like the fact no one knew on Sat because if I had lost it I wanted people to acknowledge my baby's short life and be able to talk about it

had convinced myself that wasn't having pg symptoms but seem to be craving bread, cake, potato type food too and subconiously avoiding all the food that made me sick last time - anyones else really spotty?? all the books say that skin and hair should be better than ever, I look like a teenager again... think this happened last time but not sure

how many left to have scans? so nice we'll soon be past the scarey 12 wk mark!

bambino1 · 29/05/2007 20:39

I'm still to have my scan! !!!!
I am also very spotty! I never ever get spots so it is all very weird! Hair is in better condition though!

Lizzer · 29/05/2007 20:43

I know some of you have had more hair, mine's stopped growing! Seriously, my fringe is still the same length as it was 6 weeks ago....weird.
Yeah Bamb, I'm a spot monster too - I'm going for facial on thurs though (because I'm worth it!!) and its only a tenner!

Insywinsy - so glad you are OK - that must have been awful for you. Hopefully that was your one-and-only scare and it's plain sailing from now on.

Have just bought first item of maternity clothing - thinking seriously far ahead here, but was so nice I had to buy it! The 3-piece pyjama set from Next (I bought the burgundy one, pic is grey), and the nightdress in the pic next to it: www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/maternity/2/#

It's strappy sleeved which is great cos hospitals are always really hot - but has a wrapover top so you can look OK for visitors too! Clips for easy feeding. I loved the PJs but bought the nighty to go with it - a tip from last time - I'd only taken PJs but had to have a catheter in overnight so had to suffer the indignity of trying to negotiate the catheter tube round my PJ bottoms! So taking a nighty this time to be on the safe side! (Saying that, I want to get out of hospital as soon as poss as I don't like the places)

Nbg · 30/05/2007 07:46

Housemum, thats looks lovely. Will be good for the hot summer that everyone keeps harping on about! The nightdress will be good for the hospital too if thats where your going.

Neuro, lol at your lists of food no no's and go go's

All my cravings seem to have passed. All I wanted was salty fatty foods and I had a real thing for a local butchers pork pies lol.
I have been eating alot of fruit and veg though.
So far this pregnancy is mirroring dd's. I ate really well with her and my biggest craving was apples.

This morning for my breakfast, I've had a cup of green tea with orange and pineappple, a necterine and a big satsuma.

I have been looking at maternity wear as I really need trousers now. I've looked all over but nothing is grabbing my attention at all.
If anyone see's any nice bits, please link!

Nbg · 30/05/2007 07:49

Oh and Bambino, fwiw I have become very spotty too!
I'm really narked about that as I normally get really clear skin in pregnancy.
I've stocked up on tea tree oil!

My nails are good though

Castanet · 30/05/2007 08:09

Hello everyone! Expecting a Christmas baby as well, so unreal! 10 weeks now and dreading the Scan... :-( Not trying to be negative but after reading all the horror stories floating around the Internet, almost expecting them to tell me something nasty. Never had many symptoms to start with, just the terrible tiredness, sore boobs and waves of nausea when hungry - which is in every 3 minutes. Have to check my boobs constantly to make sure they're still painful and getting panic attacks when not too ouchy. Mad, eh?

bambino1 · 30/05/2007 08:27

Morning all! Two new spots have appeared overnight! In the space of 7 hours these things have grown and are glowing! How does that happen!!!
Didn't sleep at all well last night. I just don't feel comfortable and dh was snoring his head off!

I'm taking pregnacy vitamins with folic acid in, do you take these all the way through pregnancy or just for first 12 weeks?

Louise76 · 30/05/2007 08:36

Thanks for putting the Next link on, Housemum. The pjs you bought look lovely and I had a look through the other stuff as well. I'm at that in between stage where I don't think I'm big enough for maternity clothes yet so I'm wearing my normal trousers but having to undo the top button when I sit down! With this season's fashion for smock tops and floaty tunics I think I'll be able to buy 'normal' tops and just get some maternity trousers. I might end up being more fashionable than before I was pregnant!

skidaddle · 30/05/2007 08:37

Insy - how awful for you, you poor thing but thank goodness all is fine now... and yes another spotty one over here although if I remember correctly the spots often go in the second trimestre which is when the glow we are all awaiting really kicks in (I hope)

Welcome castanet and don't worry, sounds like you have loads of pg symptoms. Have you got a date for your scan yet?

Nbg, another ridiculously healthy diet putting us all to shame. I had a disgusting burger (straight out of a packet) at a 'restaurant' last night and I was in pain all night with cramps - my poor baby, how can I feed him/her that rubbish - i'm sure it did more damage than a couple of glasses of wine would have!

I'm wondering about maternity stuff too - I just don't really like those huge sacks that hang off you but I don't know what else there is.. I'm also getting married in September so will have to try and find some sort of dress that doesn't make me look like a beached whale... can't even bear to think about it at the moment

Nbg · 30/05/2007 08:40

Did I mention I had a chinese takeaway last night?

It was my birthday though.

bambino1 · 30/05/2007 08:42

Skiddadle i'm sure you can get some lovely wedding dresses that fit a bump. Try not to worry about it.

I am trying so hard to eat properly. I'm just a bout to have a grapefruit for breakfast but guarenteed by 10.30 I will be craving choc! Usually kitkats! I had to drag sil in a newsagents whilst shopping yest just to buy a kit kat! She found it highly amusing!

bambino1 · 30/05/2007 08:43

Happy birthday for yest Nbg
Chinese takeaway sounds lovely but if i eat anything too rich at mo I just throw it up!

MotherofZ · 30/05/2007 08:51
