Hello all and welcome to this month's thread!!
Let's all stop feeling sick and start expanding now

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BornToBeAPrincess · 31/05/2007 15:52

Thanks skidaddle
To put a positive spin on it shes slept through the last 2 nights for the first time in her life! I feel very refreshed
I was just been selfish really, I thought if I kept feeding her until the baby was born it wouldn't hurt so much to feed the new one

BeachBunni · 31/05/2007 16:50

Don't really know much about this preg lark but I think I read somewhere if you're bf and become preg the baby starts to self wean cos it detects the hormones or something.

My EDD has actually been brought forward to 1st dec but not going to bother moving it for the sake of two days. Have had so much more energy from yesterday. Even took my poor abandoned dog for a three hour walk today and managed a bit of rumpy last night

Mmmnn McDonalds. Had BK yesterday myself. Think it's my only craving - wouldn't have touched them before and now I've had four in two months.

Haven't bought anything myself, just a photo frame for my scan photo. DPs bro has bought us a crib - without sounding thick what are they used for? We are buying a cotbed for the nursery but can you use a crib for a month or so as a bed??

macdoodle · 31/05/2007 18:27

Mmmm not usually a fan of herbal tea but just feel so ill - craving horrid carbs then feel more sick then throw up - ate burger and chips for lunch (NOT my usual fare) then felt bloated and sick again - needed something didn't facy anything just drank cup peppermint tea and I actually feel much better ...horrid carb need gone for now

Curlygirly · 31/05/2007 20:49

mmm...peppermint tea. Think I'll put the kettle on.

macdoodle · 31/05/2007 20:53

Well didn't last long bloody sick again not doing this well - 9+4 counting down to 12 but was sick right till end with DD (upto and including puking in labour at 41 weeks)but don't remember feeling quite so hacked off - mind didn't have energetic 5 year old or business and job to manage and was a lot younger

macdoodle · 31/05/2007 20:54

Bugger and feel guilty for moaning so much as I know this is a gift and I am so pleased and I know how desperately some people want this - feel like pathetic moany cow and looong hard day at work tomorrow

Curlygirly · 31/05/2007 21:13

macdoodle, don't feel bad. That's what's great about being here, that we can say how we feel.

Castanet · 01/06/2007 06:16

Good morning, all! Don't want to start the day with paranoid moaning but just read the thread where poster mentioned that her friend found out on 12 week scan that she'd had a missed mc.... My ultimate nightmare....Mine is coming up soon. I still have semi sore boobs but they are def not swollen, also, tired after work - but isn't everybody. How can I convince myself that these are not 'signs' of a missed mc? Never had any ms to speak of, only seem to get slightly dizzy and extremely grumpy when hungry and that hunger comes in such intensity, it's almost scary. But that's all..... So sorry about the negative moan...

Imawurzel · 01/06/2007 07:23

I'm feeling wary too. I'm 10+1 and a bloke i work with his wife miscarried at 13 weeks, went for a scan and the sac was empty.
And a woman i also work with her daughter just had one too, but it stopped growing at 8 weeks.
I know i shouldn't worry but cant help it.
Neither have i had ms, felt ill though.
boobs aren't as sore anymore, still are bigger than they were though.
still feeling tired. DH says i've gone past my grumpy stage. Even if i did snap at him for not listening last night.
Got mw appt on tuesday morning, then i guess i'll get my scan. Then all will (hopefully) be well.

Nbg · 01/06/2007 07:33

HM, well done on the bargains! I've seen some nice jeans in Next which I think I'll get.

Macdoodle, i hope the sickness passes soon for you.
You have all my sympathy. Its horrid.

Hope everyone else is good.

skidaddle · 01/06/2007 08:57

Beller - forgot to say before.. it is fine to carry on running when you're pg, some doctors recommend you stop after about 6 months but until then it should be fine. Cycling is also fine. I get so frustrated with all this, carry on exercising as normal but only if that means walking, swimming or yoga

BTW and at you doing the marathon!!

bambino1andbump · 01/06/2007 09:00

Morning all!
A close friend of mine has gone into labour! She is a week over due. She text me saying she was excited but scared (its her first). I am so excited for her!
I think my sickness is definatly starting to pass. I am 12 weeks tomo!!!

My dh has said that I am Officially obsessed with MN. I told him he doesn't understand how much support it is!

cazzybabs · 01/06/2007 09:10

I have my scan today - OMG I am so sooooo scared. With the dds I wasn't scared at all - walked in, knew I was pregnant, it was all fine...now I think I am so much more aware of all the things that could have gone wrong.

And I am nearly 14 weeks - how come I am still feeling sick and so tired!!!!!!

BeachBunni · 01/06/2007 09:27

Cazzybabs good luck with your scan. You'll be fine and prob see so much more because you're 14 wks

I think it's absolutely ridiculous reading through some of the posts and women only getting one scan. I always thought Northern Ireland was a crap place to live but when I went for my booking appt found out we get three scans - another one at 30 wks if it's your first time, which I think is fantastic.

Ambi · 01/06/2007 10:00

Bloody hell girls, you've been busy - gimme some time to catch up.....

becklespeckledfrog · 01/06/2007 11:33

Hi all! Those of us approaching scans it is normal to worry, I am petrified about mine! Especially as it is at 11 weeks and my first m/c was at 12 1/2. Thing is that most scans are fine, rate of m/c falls after 7 weeks and again at 12 and you have to keep the statistics in mind. It does tend to be the bad stories that crop up rather than the positive "oh yes, I sailed through and all was fine" ones.
Cazzybabs - good luck with scan today! As for sickness, it lasted until around 16 weeks for me with DS2 (although it started much later than this time).
Who was it who mentioned waffles yesterday??? I decided some with salt and vinegar would be just the thing last night, they smelt gorgeous but when I ate them - bleeugh! Toast for tea again... Am looking forward to eating 'normal' food again - missing fruit and pasta loads!

mother2b · 01/06/2007 13:51

But my due date has changed as well - I am now due 30th Nov, but as have been 11 days late both times am sure it will be a Dec baby. I have chnaged my date on the roll call.

beller · 01/06/2007 15:30

cheers skidadle...
i was only about 3 weeks then...but I did it in 4 hours 17 mins, which i was very happy with as it was blooming hot!
Before i run anymore i need to get another VERY supportive bar, dont have big boobs, but they are extremely sore!!

skidaddle · 01/06/2007 15:43

great news cazzybabs

beller - I had a massive surge of energy before i knew I was pg as well - going for huge long runs and cycles (though not 26 miles!) - wonder if there is some early hormonal surge responsible? I actually thought i couldn't possibly be pg as I had so much energy - all disappeared now though
Do you know about doing sit ups and (v. light) weights at this stage? I'm 12+3 and am not sure if I have to stop now

thelady · 01/06/2007 16:22

No sit-ups!

You can work the same muscles by sucking your tummy towards your spine - it's not as effective, but apparently sit-ups are bad for both you and the baby.

I have a vague memory of the fact that the muscles separate as your bump grows, and you can end up with bands of muscle and bands of flab (not good) and that the sit-up puts pressure on the uterus in a bad way too.

Not sure - ask a physio if you need more detailed info.

As for me, I'm feeling much better now tho' still fairly paranoid about tadpole. The fact that we're having a bit of a cash-flow crisis at the business isn't helping, and nor is the fact that the gas supplier just stopped taking the direct debit in Jan and hasn't sent a bill since October last year!! Too many things to worry about, with staff depending on us for wages and me wondering how I'm going to afford any new clothes.

Ambi · 01/06/2007 17:47

yeay cazzy, glad you had a good scan, pop a pic on your profile if you can, wanna see beanybaby.
Not long now til my next scan, 12th. 13 weeks today (we thinks).

Beller - snaps for you for managing a marathon, actually any kind of exercise deserves a round of applause. I'm with the Bk/MaccyDs bunch, having had a chinese for lunch was yum tho. The crap food is prob making me so knackered tho, also the bursting for a wee during the night, it's awful isn't it motherofz.

But at least I get to slack off at work now, am training others for Mat leave at the mo (by sept I'm expecting to be relaxing on a sofa cleopatra-stylee having my face fanned with large leaf and chocs being fed by scrummy bloke - whilst minions are now doing my job!) - a dream me thinks..
