I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

Question**

Filzma · 28/07/2018 21:23

Does BH feel like the back pains you get before the onset of a period? If so, had it today.
Also started having general back pain, does that mean baby is in a back to back position?

Hayleyxmx · 28/07/2018 21:30

@filzma I haven’t had that symptom so not sure sorry. my whole stomach goes rock hard and really uncomfortable mainly, someone said before it’s like you are carrying a bowling ball, perfect description.

Not too sure about baby position, my little girl is still all over the place.

Havetothink · 28/07/2018 21:33

My last baby was back to back and I didn't really have back pain up until labour but it might be different for different people?

My bh didn't feel anything like period back ache, it was all front and sides and didn't really ache so much as make my stomach feel crushingly tense.

I use the stretches that Milk suggests too (though I do it against the sink in the bathroom rather than banister)
I also like the stretch my arms right up then fold forward as far to my toes as I can and do that a few times, getting lower and lower. Gives a good back stretch too!
Also like the child's pose.

No BH here (I don't think I would know them though tbh!) but have been getting a lot of tightening after 10 mins or so of walking, happens almost every time I walk the dog. Think I need to start reducing the length of time I walk for a bit now.

Haha must be a strong sink as dainty I am not Grin
Yeah the arm one is good, meant to say just let yourself hang for a second between each stretch then on the last one, bend the knees and hang low for 20 secs or so, really stretches off between the shoulder blades & ribs.

ATP1000 · 28/07/2018 23:24

I’ve been getting the bowling ball feeling too this week (28 weeks). Also get a feeling of high pressure with no bowling ball. It doesn’t hurt just feels really strange and high pressure! She usually wriggles around straight after the pressure one.

If anyone has any girls names that they like but aren’t using them I’m open to suggestions please! We only have two names, all the other ones I like remind one or the other of us of people we don’t particularly want to name the baby after (ex girlfriends for example!!)
I know this is an open ended question so maybe just a few names that you’re not going to use!!

Boys names which were top of my list are Gregor, James, Elliott and Harrison.

@RhiBee29 Yay!! congratulations! Kinda hoping he will be two days late so he will be a Halloween baby Grin

Filzma · 29/07/2018 06:16

@Hayleyxmx you're right, BH affects the front and side muscles mostly. Don't know what this period-like pains are about.

@Havetothink that's reassuring. Dreading a back to back situation. More than a cs! Irrational?!

I'm finding girls names harder to pick actually. Maybe because its the second time I imagined having a boy!😁
My due date is 5th October. Given I'm 1 cookie away from whale though, might end up being a sept baby.

Filzma · 29/07/2018 06:24

@ATP1000 what kind of girls names are you looking for? Dainty? Chic/unique? Traditional?

I like Yvette, Yvonne, Sharon, Angela, Louise, Laura, Stephanie.

Masterofkarateandfriendship · 29/07/2018 07:14

unicornchaser - my due date is 21st October (but told everyone it's the 28th to avoid constant questions).

Glad to be on the final stretch now but also shitting it......

Hayleyxmx · 29/07/2018 07:51

@Filzma they are old school names, I think you have just named all my aunties.

I’m prefer slightly traditional names, I really don’t like names with a strange spelling usually to Make it different. Eg hayley spelt as hayleigh is just wrong 😂

Names we didn’t go with...
Alexander
Joshua
Jamie

Bonnie
Sophie
Grace
Holly
Rosie

Keeping my absolute favourites to myself 😉

Havetothink · 29/07/2018 08:11

Filzma I don't blame you one bit, I'm doing everything to avoid back to back again although ultimately I know baby will do what it wants. I avoided cs last time but not by much, they were constantly threatening it and dh told me later they had the theatre set up and ready to go (I was out of it by then). Induced, long labour, 2 hours pushing, don't recommend it, do recommend the epidural though Smile

RhiBee29 · 29/07/2018 08:23

@ATP1000 on our list last time were:
Phoebe
Penny (Penelope)
Poppy
Daisy
Grace

@RembeccaM I'm praying for an early arrival as DS birthday is 1st November Shock I was in labour on Halloween last time but DS arrived 4am the next morning. Scariest Halloween costume is a labouring woman reluctantly handing out Haribo Smile

lovesrunning · 29/07/2018 09:45

Sooo delighted most folks seem to have got rain and can cool down! We are on the last day of babymoon (a phrase I used to eye roll at but now realise it’s a fantastic excuse for a holiday basically) and have had rain every day and neither of us have been in the least bit bothered like we would have been a few years ago.

@milk I’m also getting pain just under my right rib and it feels like a muscle is twitching. There is bone directly beneath so I don’t think it’s baby. I find sitting up really straight for a while helps, as it seems to happen if I’ve been slouching for a while. Is yours the same?

@atp my husband didn’t like my top two names :( they were Emily and Alice. We’ve decided on one I think - unless something we prefer comes along. Other close contenders were Anna, Harriet, Grace, Sophie, Charlotte, Ella and Olivia.

Doll87 · 29/07/2018 09:55

@ATP1000 I love (but hubby doesn't):
Martha
Ivy
Scarlett
Maggie
Polly
Imogen (genie)
Sorry

I love the old names as you can tell.

Doll87 · 29/07/2018 09:55

@ATP1000 that last one meant to say Dotty not sorry 😂

Hayleyxmx · 29/07/2018 09:56

I really like Olivia aswell @lovesrunning but what put me off is it’s been the number one baby name the last few years.

unicornchaser · 29/07/2018 10:00

Names we liked for a girl where
Chloe
Keevah
Kaila
Catelyn
Aimee

Boys that we liked but have veto'd
Isaac
Oliver
Conall
Joshua

Being due 30th I may well end up with a Halloween baby (I hope so!) just hope he isn't early as dss bday is 20th Oct! First scan dated me a week early to 23rd but thankfully gone back to 30th......Don't think either would fancy sharing their day 😂

Belles86 · 29/07/2018 11:14

Mixed feelings this morning. My SIL wanted to throw me a baby shower (today) and the rain I’ve been praying for arrives today 😂 fml

twobambinos · 29/07/2018 18:41

Awe @belles86 you didn't want the baby shower? Hope it went well anyway.

@milknosugar1 that sounds like total agony you are in. I wouldn't be putting myself under pressure to attend those family events for the foreseeable but I know that's easier said than done.

I love the name Olivia but a top 10 name puts me off. Plus this is a boy Grin

This baby is moving loads today I don't know what position he is in but feels like he is trying to break out my hips Shock just had a mini packet of skittle sours oh they are really having an effect.

caoraich · 29/07/2018 18:52

Yikes so many new messages!

Ps not suggesting you're a shithead doctor, just these bellends linked to anything to do with pregnancy and womens issues! - Milknosugar1 haha thanks, I agree! To be honest I was always a bit suspicious of them at uni - most of their patients are comparatively fit and healthy... why don't they want to be around the sick people!? Grin

unicorn I think I'm going to ask to get moved to the QEUH for delivery, I've got a midwife appointment on the 7th so will try and discuss it then and also try and not cry...

ATP1000 we loved Gregor and James for a boy too, but are having a girl!

We like Lana and Skye, but can't use them as they're already in use by small child family members.

We've decided to go with two middle names, a family firstname and then my surname, and then OH's surname. We were thinking about double-barreling as we don't share a surname, but it would be an awful lot of syllables for the poor kid so I think this is an OK compromise.
