I’m creating this thread so that we can continue the October 2018 baby bus. Only one page left on ours and once it completes we can’t share this link so getting this done now .... all aboard!

I hope that down south will get some of the relief we have been having, temps in Glasgow have dropped to a much more bareable low 20's most days now. And a lot of rain forecast for this weekend & next week.

The name we want isn't super unusual, it's a Gaelic/Scottish name so fits with our family make up well but I've never actually heard it used in real life. But I think it is the only one we can imagine calling him.
Step son is Ethan and hubby wants said if I was his choice new baby would be Nathan as he likes the similar naming. I on the other hand have vetoed anything that sounds remotely similar to Ethan!

Naming the dog was so much less stressful Grin

LOVE the name Ethan! It's such a gorgeous little boy name :) I'm sure whatever you come up with for little one will become 'just right'

Doll87 · 27/07/2018 14:05

Hi everyone!
So i had my 31 week midwife appointment and am feeling really happy and positive! my Gestational Diabetes test came back all great, and she was really impressed with my iron levels (i only take the pregnacare tablets so must just have a high iron count in my blood). Baby is sitting with her bum under my boobies and head down in my pelvis...and heartbeat was strong and healthy. She weighed me for the first time today, i've put on 7kg which she said she was very happy with and that made me feel a little reassured. My next appointment (34 weeks) is when we begin the birth plan! Thats gonna be so fun! She also booked me in on a breast feeding antenatal workshop so thats gonna be interesting lol! 9 weeks to go today till my little girl is here!

Re names, we have 3 names....the first one ive had since day dot and hubby does like it but wont commit until shes here. so we have a name, and then 2 back ups lol! But im 99.9% sure it'll be the first name. We have the middle name sorted, that seemed to be easier lol!

Im in the south east and envy EVERYONE who is in a cooler area or who has had rain! I HATE HATE HATE this heat.....i need to know when its gonna ease off. Dont get me wrong..being on holiday in heat like this is bliss as all you do is lay about, dip in the pool to cool off and relax. but being pregnant, working and doing all the usual day to day chores in it is just horrendous. I carry a bottle of that magicool and a fan around with me. It helps, not alot, but it helps.

Penguina · 27/07/2018 16:01

@doll87 I’m in the south east too. It’s crazzzzy hot!! We just had 2 minutes of rain which was so exciting !

I’m really struggling on names. Boys are so hard to name. There are endless gorgeous girls names but I really don’t like many boys names :/

I’ve asked this a while back but is anyone breastfeeding a toddler? My nips are becoming a bit sore and I’m tempted to stop but I’d kinda like to carry on (not really sure why though to be honest!)

I’m kind of gutted I haven’t kept up on here as I’ve made some really good friends on my previous mumsnet busses- must make more effort!!

Doll87 · 27/07/2018 16:09

That's ok @Penguina, theres still time to get involved :)

Its mad reading from the start and seeing all the different journeys we've been on, 3rd trimester-ers now! Hooray!

Havetothink · 27/07/2018 18:32

RhiBee29 · 27/07/2018 21:00

It's raining in South Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and forecast to stay until Monday Grin

Doll87 · 27/07/2018 21:07

Hahaha we must be the happiest pregnant ladies ever, who'd have thought a little sprinkle of wet rain could make us so happy (/relieved/emotional/excited)

I'm doing the rain dance for all you ladies that the rain hasn't reached yet ❤️

unicornchaser · 27/07/2018 21:18

Whilst thoroughly delighted of it right now, not sure I will be enjoying the typical Scottish summer after a day or 2!

Though right now I have my living room windows all open happily listening to it bouncing on the road!

I'm elated. We really needed this. Going to get cosy, sip on a cuppa and enjoy the rain. Aaaah!

@Milknosugar1 I had a pain at the top of my ribs but turned out to be indigestion, I think our stomachs are getting squished now. Baby's movement has changed too from jabs to more rolls and fluttering during the day. I nearly called triage yesterday but he/she perked up and started prodding me last night. If you're having any doubt call the hospital, I went in twice with DS for reduced movement x

@unicornchaser my due date is 19th October. So exciting to finally be in the third trimester.

Thanks ladies for sharing which pushchair/travel system you're getting. I think we'll pop to kiddicare tomorrow and have another play. My Dh is keen on the uppavista (he's already keen for another Shock), but just seems so big to me - not to mention the cost! With my first I just used a maclarens after the first 6 months but things seem to have moved on hugely since then!

Think we've narrowed our name choices to 2 or 3, but agree that baby boy names are hard!

twobambinos · 28/07/2018 11:37

Agree with all the others saying boys names are so hard. We can't decide on anything there is no name that either of us really love to even look for a compromise. Divine inspiration is needed.

We are going with the quinny zapp xtra for the buggy. It folds up tiny which is just what we need for the tiny boot. Very light weight and can pop the maxi cosi seat on it too.

Milknosugar1 good luck with the day trip and try get some stretching in there if you are sitting for hours in a car. Im really feeling the aches now by the end of a day sitting.

We had a scan this week too and baby is measuring almost 4 pounds. They said it was average sized i don't know. Kind of freaking myself out from Google but will try not to worry until the next update Confused

RembeccaM · 28/07/2018 13:16

Hi everyone, I just found this group- I'm due for 29th October, so at the end of week 26 and it's starting to dawn on me that in three months we'll have a little baby boy Shock

RhiBee29 · 28/07/2018 15:52

Hi @RembeccaM we're due date twin Grin

Havetothink · 28/07/2018 18:09

Do Braxton hicks usually come on suddenly or can they sneak up on you? I think I had one but didn't have any with my last pregnancy so not sure.

milknosugar1 That's exactly what I said to dh, like I was carrying a bowling ball, but I didn't know if it was just the baby in a weird position. Think it was bh, it happened again when I was carrying some shopping. It made me feel really heavy, uncomfortable and weighted to the floor, kind of came on over a minute or so but it lasted a while. I've decided I need to drink more water and hope they go away.

Glad you more or less survived your family day out. Also glad my dds not really old enough to ask those kind of questions just yet, she'd probably just ask if I was ok and be satisfied if I said yes. We're taking dd to the zoo tomorrow while the weather's cooler and before I get even bigger (already look ready to drop), it's going to be a long trek and I'm already scanning the web page for attractions that involve lots of sitting but it's a big place.

Baby has been very busy today, constantly churning, I think it's enjoying the brief break in the weather.

Hayleyxmx · 28/07/2018 21:19

@milk I’m the same with the BH it’s just strange and uncomfortable. I have been doing the drinking water and laying on my side to try and move them.

Pram update after over 6 months finally got one. if you haven’t already got one 100% go to an independent pram store if possible. John Lewis are trying to get rid of the uppababy vista 2017 model so spent hours trying to sell me it, the independent store I went to (winstanleys pram world) talked me through every brand and option starting at low budget and going up to high end gave me the pros and cons of everything and let me decide alone, I was so disappointed with my John Lewis experience very opinionated staff made me ueation what I actually needed. But finally went for the bugaboo Fox fits my needs 100%. Glad to hear everyone else has started getting the big purchases too.
