Advice please ladies..

Okay so I work for the NHS as a nurse but have been signed off for some time due to the fact the nature of the work I was doing was having an impact on my respiratory health, as I was constantly exposed to infection. I've applied for a more suitable position in a different trust and to my surprise I've been shortlisted for interview. My worry is that I'll be almost 17 weeks pregnant at interview. Will that have a bearing? Is it allowed to?

Paranormalbouquet · 15/06/2018 11:51

I have nhs interviews coming up too Gemsie. Legally they can’t take it into account. However I will not be advertising my bump!

Gemsie1984 · 15/06/2018 12:00

I'm in two minds. I'm not particularly showing yet, fortunately, however I don't want to be accused of non-disclosure. At 17 weeks it's not like I can say I just found out! Also if I look from a recruiters perspective, would I want to be employing someone who was going to be going on maternity leave 5 months later? Ugh..

Paranormalbouquet · 15/06/2018 12:11

It doesn’t matter, you don’t need to disclose and they can’t discriminate. They can’t hold non-disclosure against you. I feel the same but need to look after ourselves!

JustVent · 15/06/2018 12:48

One very kicky happy baby.

Oh and due date, Christmas Eve!

Roomarmoset · 15/06/2018 13:17

Congrats @justvent

@Gemsie1984 I have two interviews lined up with the NHS as I'm looking to move closer to home. I feel really bad about going for a job knowing I'll be gone by Christmas (all being well I haven't actually had my 12 week scan yet!) but you are under no obligation to let them know and even if you do, they can't take that into account anyway as it would be discrimination.

You have to look after yourself at the end of the day, go for it Smile

wombats · 15/06/2018 14:33

Anyone else having stretching pains? I'm 15 weeks and doesn't feel like the tugging ligament pains or like cramps. Feels like my womb is being pushed from inside and stretching out at the top and sides, if that makes any sense?

MrsTeaPlease · 15/06/2018 16:41

Just catching up on the thread, lovely scan pics. I'm also totally impatient and we have booked a babybond gender scan for 30 June when I will be nearly 17 weeks. Hope it's clear enough to find out!

AGirlinLondon · 15/06/2018 17:25

Hey @wombats - yes I get the same. Apparently it is entirely normal if a bit uncomfy! @mrsteaplease we had a 3D scan today (we didn’t ask for one; it’s just offered as part of the reassurance scan at the Birth Company) and I’m 15w3d and it was really clear what the gender was Smile

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 15/06/2018 18:54

Hey @JustVent gorgeous scan!! 😍

Has anyone started talking about paternity leave plans? We've had theoretical conversations in the past but today I started to try and organise some actual dates with DP and was met with a degree of resistance. Anyone else had this? Or know what might be happening? I was really hoping it would be an exciting conversation and now I'm feeling really deflated. Not sure how much is hormones... 🧐

Cakelaur · 15/06/2018 20:07

@AGirlinLondon ooooooh!!! What are you having??? Can we see a scan to guess??

@GoldilocksTheGraceless my OH only gets one week paid (he's in the police) and we're hoping bub arrives around due date (17th dec) cos then he can take a week off then also have loads of time around Xmas. Then go in for 2 days then maybe take a week of beginning of Jan. But it all depends when bub shows up.

MrsTeaPlease · 16/06/2018 10:12

@agirlinlondon oh that's so nice to hear, thank you! I did see on the scan details it said 4d preview so maybe they use that to help get the clearer result.

emwithme · 16/06/2018 14:18

I think AGirl is having a boy. clearly visible boy bits are very clear!

I was going to book a sex scan for next week (Will be 16 weeks on Sunday) but the car is currently having a new exhaust so the money has gone!

AGirlinLondon · 16/06/2018 14:49

Haha @emwithme good detection skills!! Grin

AGirlinLondon · 16/06/2018 14:53

@Cakelaur of course - check out my chillaxing baby!

Cakelaur · 16/06/2018 16:04

@AGirlinLondon omg!!! Look at him!! I'm guessing boy!! 😍 what an amazing scan!! So clear!!!

AGirlinLondon · 16/06/2018 16:51

Thank you everyone - we are absolutely made up. I think it’s going to be hard to tempt him out of there! Grin

December2018 · 16/06/2018 17:50

Is it normal to feel like a complete and utter hormonal wreck!
My poor OH.... I can't even bear to be in the same room as him at the min!
We both agreed to go for an afternoon out today and maybe go for some food after I finished work at 1 I was really looking forward to it.... and he buggered off to the gym and he came home about 20 mins ago, I feel like crying!... and to top it off he came in and went straight back out again to help his friend fix his PlayStation... rant over!!
I think I'm just suuuper hormonal!! 🤬

Ameliaclem · 16/06/2018 18:25

@AGirlInLondon - I’ll look into it thank you! Any mummies on this thread from Essex??

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 16/06/2018 19:50

@AGirlinLondon just wow that is incredible 😍😍😍

@December2018 I totally understand this situation which happens semi regularly in our home! Got quite hormonally upset at OH this morning for trying to help clean up when I had tried to do it all before he woke up. Poor guy thought he was being helpful but got a teary earful instead! 😳

AGirlinLondon · 17/06/2018 08:01

@December and @Goldilocks - my other half is treating me like an unexploded grenade right now. He’s like ‘Whatever you say darling!!’

I’m finding that Yoga and other exercise is helping with the mood, even when what I really want to do is crash out.

We are here for all your venting needs!!

Gemsie1984 · 17/06/2018 11:06

Anyone else finding it hard to sleep? My insomnia is on another level atm.. I'm also waking up to pee three times in the night and then my RLS kicks in so I'm twitching constantly. It's about a week now with broken sleep and I'm so grumpy and irritable ☹️
