I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

If it helps to allay any fears I hadn't even babysat a baby and had changed my niece's nappy once before I had my lb. He's now 13 months and I've kept him alive woo! Doesn't stop nervousness of course but it's definitely one of those learn on the job things. I found my mumsnet group (we moved to fb at some point) absolutely indispensable, especially the second and subsequent time mums (who could remember!!) letting everyone know what they were experiencing was normal. It's so reassuring to say "is anyone else..." and to have a chorus of "YES!" haha. So looking forward to experiencing that with you all.

LeeCee · 03/05/2018 08:26

@jellyfish2210 I think you can safely have a cup or two but I'm an addict especially on a travelling for work day like today and usually need 4/5 to function! Oh well small sacrifice I guess!

@charlybs that's so reassuring it sounds like you had a lovely group! Hopefully we can all do the same for each other this time around!

jellyfish2210 · 03/05/2018 09:14

@charlybs that does help. The whole first time Mum thing is really daunting. I know it's early but it does make me nervous wondering how I will get on...

Also don't think I have ever changed a nappy. I have put a nappy on a 2 year old after a bath but never had to deal with a dirty one...🤢

Twirlywooer · 03/05/2018 13:33

I've never used these strips before, AF not due till tomorrow but couldn't wait any longer....is this definitely a BFP??

loopdeelou · 03/05/2018 14:16

@Twirlywooer looks clear as day to me! Are you able to get hold of a different test to double check?

OP posts:
Twirlywooer · 03/05/2018 14:41

@loopdeelou I'm too scared to do a digital one! I had a MMC in January so I'm so worried. Is the line on the strips supposed to get darker as the days go by?

emdoc · 03/05/2018 15:09

@Twirlywooer definitely BFP!! Congrats! Sorry to hear about your previous loss Flowers

From my book, about caffeine, 2 cups (8 oz) per day is definitely fine by all studies, 3-4 cups OK by most studies. And apparently a large part of the "no coffee" advice may be due to the fact that if you're able to drink tons of coffee while you're pregnant, you probably aren't super nauseated, and absence of nausea could indicate an unhealthy pregnancy. I thought that was interesting!

LeeCee · 03/05/2018 18:34

Thanks @emdoc good to know. I googled this morning and it said more than two coffees doubles your risk of a MC but I guess this just shows why you should never google!

Has everyone in this group had an implantation bleed already? I'm wondering if and when I will. Trying to prepare myself so I don't panic if I see blood!

trukevoli · 03/05/2018 18:42

Hi!!!
Found out yesterday I am pregnant! Not entirely surprised but sort of didn't think it would happen so quick. We were going to start properly trying in September. Not entirely sure due date but I am going with 11th.
This is our second. Our first born is a lively 3 year old boy.
I've told quite a few people which is what I did last time. I work for my dad so he knows.
I still talk to my mumsnet group all day everyday and it has always been a massive support.
Lovely to meet you all!

StayingAtTamaras · 03/05/2018 18:44

@SecretStash how are you doing?

jellyfish2210 · 03/05/2018 19:01

@LeeCee I haven't had any implantation bleeding. From what I have read not everyone has it

LeeCee · 03/05/2018 19:06

Welcome @trukevoli and congrats!!

Thanks @jellyfish2210 so hard to know what's normal or not and what to expect!

I've downloaded that Expecting Better book one of you recommended! Better get studying!

laurs2309 · 03/05/2018 19:10

@LeeCee I didn't have any implantation bleeding either and I'm just over 5 weeks.

Got a letter for my first appointment with the midwife today. Its not until 4th June but it has made it seem very real!

Glad to hear other people are bloated, currently sat here with my jeans undone feeling like a beached whale!!

SecretStash · 03/05/2018 19:19

Hi @Stayingattamaras thanks for asking after me.
I’m ok, DH still doesn’t know.
I have a gynaecologist appt next week about a large cyst I had. That’s the absolute latest I’m going to leave it to tell him.

Loops1987 · 03/05/2018 19:48

Hi all,

I'm exactly 4 weeks today and due 10th January with DC2. DS is 20 months.

I'm terrified as I had a miscarriage before my son, but I started feeling queasy about 9 days before AF was due and got my BFP on Sunday so taking that as a good sign.

EnglishIrishRose · 03/05/2018 20:30

@LeeCee we went to Sweden last week so I've flown twice this pregnancy already! It's way too early for flying to impact the baby. And I am also a coffee addict, I'm so tired all the time and can't even have a coffee to wake me up - ugh.

This is my first pregnancy so I feel like it's all very new and strange, as for after they're born I will be fine - I am also a nanny like someone mentioned above - and I have a baby niece and friend's baby who I've helped with recently. Most of my experience is with toddlers though, not newborns!

EnglishIrishRose · 03/05/2018 20:32

Haha I've just read what I wrote. 'I will be fine' - err, no I'm pretty sure that's a massive load of wishful thinking.

jellyfish2210 · 03/05/2018 20:39

@LeeCee definitely good to ask about these things. Feel very out of my depth and overwhelmed with all the information available so it's great to know I have people in the same boat as me!

@laurs2309 I'm in my pjs the second I get home from work...definitely a requirement lol!

StayingAtTamaras · 04/05/2018 08:46

@SecretStash That's okay, I hope the appointment goes well and I hope it goes okay with telling him, if he is horrible
about it like you say then he sounds like a nasty person to hate you for being pregnant.

I really do hope this pregnancy goes well for you this time and you've got my full support if you do it alone. Thinking of you Thanks

charlybs · 04/05/2018 09:06

@LeeCee I did with my last pregnancy at 7 weeks and freaked out as I didn't know it was a thing. Everything was absolutely fine though.

charlybs · 04/05/2018 09:07

Hi to the newbies and congrats!

@SecretStash I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, sending you hugs x

SecretStash · 04/05/2018 10:08

He’s not a nasty person. He’s a wonderful person.
He just desperately doesn’t want the stress of another child.

Twirlywooer · 04/05/2018 11:12

@SecretStash my DP doesn't want another child either. I lost one at 10 weeks in January and he said he didn't want to try again. He knows I'm desperate for another though. I haven't told him yet. Thanks

SecretStash · 04/05/2018 11:24

@twirlywooer
You have no idea how glad I am to have someone in the same position. Although I’m sorry to hear you’re going through it too.
How many weeks are you?

Twirlywooer · 04/05/2018 11:49

@SecretStash AF was due today and I tested yesterday so I'm only about 5 weeks considering I have long cycles. We've had so many arguments about having another. He thinks we're too old. He has 4 children, 1 with me and he thinks that's enough. He wasn't over the moon with the January pregnancy and it took me ages to tell him that time. When will you tell your DH?
