I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

Had my booking in appointment today, went well but put me on high risk due to history of pregnancies in the family (pre-eclampsia, still births etc) also I have a higher BMI. Also they're giving me aspirin to take from 12 weeks and higher dosage of folic Acid.
I also have a scan booked for 2nd July Grin

Maxbenji · 07/06/2018 16:27

How many weeks are you ld1234? Sorry to hear you are high risk, I think you get more appointment and scans though!

ld1234 · 07/06/2018 17:14

@Maxbenji I am 9 weeks today

MrsS1984 · 07/06/2018 17:53

I went to the walk in EPU for a scan today and after two pregnancies seeing empty sacs I saw a little blob with a flickering heartbeat!!! Such, such a relief! Makes up (almost!) for all the nausea in the last ten days!!! I've been prescribed aspirin and progesterone for the next four days because of its positive impact on preventing miscarriages, has anyone else had this? I'm not exactly sure what the science is so I'm off to do some googling!

charlybs · 07/06/2018 18:10

Hi all! My scan date keeps getting moved about. Was 1st Jan, then was 28 Dec after my early scan, now my midwife, even seeing the scan decided it was 4th Jan!

Have my 12 week scan booked in for 26 June, think I will just have to wait until then, hope sprog isn't in a silly position so we can get a good measurement so everyone can go off that instead.

Sorry for those whose sickness is still being a pain.

Is anyone else suffering with this awful hayfever? I'm basically trapped inside haha.

jennac · 07/06/2018 20:20

@charlybs I feel your pain with getting moved around!! I was 4th December but am now 5th Jan!! Just a bit different. Can’t wait for some clarity from the 12 week scan. Mine is on 22nd June

I’ve been out for dinner tonight and now I’m experiencing what must be the worst indigestion I have ever had in my life!! Oh the joys!

Ash1992 · 07/06/2018 20:32

I got first Nhs scan but realised I will be 11 weeks not 12 on the day of the scan does this matter

charlybs · 07/06/2018 20:49

@jennac bleeding nora that's a difference!! and here's me worrying about a week (altho with a planned section at 39 weeks I would much rather it be on the earlier side!)

@ash1992 no it's absolutely fine. the window for measuring properly is 11-14 weeks.

Ash1992 · 07/06/2018 21:11

@charlybs thanks . Is there anything that can be done for a gurgling stomach and nausea that lasts all day :-( constantly feel like heaving

Frenchiemamax · 07/06/2018 21:16

Ash I think we’re all suffering with something similar, should only last a few more weeks 🤞🏼

charlybs · 07/06/2018 21:18

yeah that's just early pregnancy I'm afraid :( it's the hormones. Try stuff with ginger in, fizzy water, eating little and often.

Januarybaby19 · 07/06/2018 21:29

@Ash1992 I would recommend Twinings Lemon and Ginger tea or good old Aldi peppermint tea. I was so sick and bloated and this has really helped x

Frenchiemamax · 07/06/2018 21:46

Is there anything you ladies have gone off of since becoming pregnant? I used to love a cup of tea in the evenings and a morning coffee without fail, but now can’t stand to drink anything but orange juice!

Littlebump2018 · 07/06/2018 22:04

I see you were all talking about scans and appointments earlier. I've had my booking in appointment and I've got my dating scan on the 19th June. Has anyone had their consultant booking through? I have one for the 24th. What do we see the consultants for?

blorgzorb · 07/06/2018 22:16

@Frenchiemamax exactly the same! Used to religiously have a coffee morning and afternoon then maybe a couple of cups of tea throughout the day too. Can't stomach the thought of them now so I'm currently enjoying either diluted fresh orange juice or water. Thrilling!

Ash1992 · 07/06/2018 22:52

@januarybaby19 thanks for advice. It's so hard especially when you have to go to work. X

Maxbenji · 08/06/2018 05:56

Littlebump2018 the midwife should have told you at the booking in appt if you were being referred to a consultant. It's usually for existing health problems or high risk issues that came up in the questionnaire. Although each area is different so it could be normal where you are! Ring your midwife or the consultant office to find out.

Leliana · 08/06/2018 11:19

I'm high risk due to an existing medical condition, so I'm guessing my midwife will refer me to the local tertiary centre for consultant-led care.

I also have a BMI of about 32, so have been taking 5mg folic acid since 3 months before TTC. Different sources say to start either 1 month or 3 months before TTC. I was super excited to be in a position to start planning pregnancy, so I think I was a bit keen Grin

Maxbenji · 08/06/2018 11:41

I'm not high risk but due to a couple of existing issues and a difficult birth last time I will be consultant led which it what I wanted and will have an appointment with the consultant in anesthetics before I go into labour!

Leliana · 08/06/2018 12:58

Has anybody else started planning childcare yet? DH and I work very long hours, so we initially thought we'd need a nanny, but we've found a nursery 10 minutes drive away which is open at the right times, so I think we might be OK just to use that! I'm already starting to wonder about schools as well... I have a tendency to overthink things! Grin

isambardo · 08/06/2018 14:04

Only planning childcare in my head so far! I know which nursery we plan to use so I’ll contact them once I’m on mat leave.

I just had my booking appt, all good and in my area they now have a designated homebirth group so I’ll get referred to them and have future midwife appts with them at home. I had dc2 at home and it was brilliant. Feeling really chuffed and pleased they are encouraging home births here.

isambardo · 08/06/2018 14:06

Also feeling really really sick but I’m 9+2 and praying it stops soon.

Maxbenji · 08/06/2018 15:38

Childcare isn't fully sorted, because i want to drop a few hours at work, but as dd is already at the childminder we would use so have mentioned it to her as need to look at rates as dd will also start pre-school and get 30 hours free childcare in January! And i want some time with the 2 of them but want her to go & play with her friends too, then when I'm back at work they will both go...

Littlebump2018 · 08/06/2018 18:07

Thanks for the replies. It makes sense now as I've had two other pregnancies but no loving children and I had bleeding at the start of this pregnancy. Hopefully they say I'm fine :)

WeeBump89 · 08/06/2018 18:25

Went for my scan this morning and got to see my little blip! Heart beating flickering away. I have a feeling though I shall be joining the February lot as looks like I am a week out. So not 27th after all.
