sparkles I’ve been in to hospital today as I had a bright red bleed and now have dark brown spotting. They eventually scanned me and all looks fine. It’s horrible I know, this will be my last as well and was so upset earlier. Hope you get some sleep tonight and all is ok at your scan tomorrow x

BertieBotts · 29/12/2017 20:15

Hi all, I've had initial appointment today and had a scan, saw a heartbeat flickering away! We are 6 weeks exactly they reckon so due date has moved to 24/08.

Hortonlovesahoo · 29/12/2017 20:16

@sparkledontshine: I’m crossing everything for you that it’s ok

milney25 · 29/12/2017 20:26

@BertieBotts lovely news! Smile

Hi all! Hope I didn’t mess up the formatting. Currently 7 weeks+1 with my first! DFiance and I are over the moon; already totally smitten with baby! For the last couple of days I have been really feeling the tiredness kick in. I had a 4 hour nap today. Blush

milney25 · 29/12/2017 21:12

Welcome @ActualMermaid there are lots of us first timers in the group Smile

ActualMermaid · 29/12/2017 21:20

@milney25 Hello! It’s so exciting, I keep having to pinch myself! Smile Have you been for your first midwife appointment yet? Not sure what I should expect! DP really wants to come with me but I don’t know if it is worth it if it’s just answering questions?

milney25 · 29/12/2017 21:24

@ActualMermaid I know me too, we've been TTC for a while and so it doesn't feel real. I'm 9 weeks, went for my booking in appointment yesterday with the midwife. I took my hubby with me. I didn't really need him there, but there's a lot of info and so it's nice to have someone else listening in. I think it made it a bit more real for him too.

BertieBotts · 29/12/2017 21:29

If your DH can come to lots/all appointments then great - if he can only come to a few, skip the first one as not much happens. Wait for the scans in particular :)

Gizzymum · 29/12/2017 21:51

I agree with @BertieBotts about scans being the best appointments for DPs to go to. The early ones are just info collection. In some areas midwives will listen to the baby's heartbeat with a Doppler at later midwife appointments so they may be good ones for DP to go to. If DP can't go to appts other than scans you can always record the heartbeat audio (I used an iPhone voice memo app) and then share with DP when you get home.

milney25 · 29/12/2017 22:03

Mind you, ours was in the evening. So I'd be pretty annoyed if my hubby went down the pub while I was pissing in a cup 🙈😂

amzq87 · 29/12/2017 22:07

I've been told I'll hear the heartbeat at my first appointment - my friend who has just had hers got to hear it at booking x

SpriteGirl · 29/12/2017 22:11

@ActualMermaid I had my booking in appointment today and my husband came. I found it quite useful to have him there as they wanted info on both of our genetic backgrounds and I wouldn’t have known all the answers for his side.

CaffeineDragon · 29/12/2017 22:48

Welcome all newbies and fingers crossed to everyone spotting or worried. Still feeling nauseous regularly and SO much more tired than last time! Can barely button my largest jeans - I guess my stomach muscles weren't back to as good of shape as I had thought after the previous baby!

I use Ovia as well. I actually have a blog post about all the apps I used and rated from the last pregnancy/birth/1st year that I'll share once we're past 12 weeks and I'm more comfortable revealing my identity! Wink

ActualMermaid · 30/12/2017 00:02

Thanks for all the info about the first appointment! DP has just come home from work with his rota and he isn’t working until the evening on appointment day, so he can come along with no problems. Smile Sounds like his presence will be useful anyway if they ask about his medical history! I’m just excited for it all to feel a bit more real! Grin

Babydreaming · 30/12/2017 07:08

Sparkles I have all fingers crossed for you today...hopefully it’s just one of those things that can happen in pregnancy. Keep us informed :)

Welcome @actualmermaid :)

I took my husband to the booking appointment and all scans which I thought was good compromise, he couldn’t get time off for all the little ones but lots of them just check your BP etc so nothing too exciting! I’m not sure whether I’ll take him to booking this time! Maybe if he’s free.

I’m a bit worried that I still haven’t got a booking appointment or anything! I’m moving house next week so will register with the doctor as soon as I get there but I’ll be 8/9 weeks so hoping they can give me. Booking appointment quite quickly after that!

Thanks for the new thread. My scan is this morning.

Is anyone else finding the bloating really uncomfable? Slightly less constipated the last few days but still so full of wind!

StrawberryLemonade · 30/12/2017 08:18

Fingers crossed for everyone who has scans today!

Subo2018 · 30/12/2017 08:28

Thanks for making the new thread :)

peterpanwendy · 30/12/2017 09:02

I am 8 weeks today! Still have all my usual symptoms but as usual not a lot of nausea. I had the WORST bloating last night it was agony. Feel really pleased to have got to this stage, 2/3 of the way to 12 weeks!

LadesC · 30/12/2017 09:10

Ive woken up with horrendous nausea and had a bit of a meltdown about it, saying I cant cope with MS and a toddler and how will i cope with a 2nd child, blah blah.

Babydreaming · 30/12/2017 09:46

@LadesC I’ve been there a few times, tears and all. I’m grateful for the pregnancy but at the same time regretting the timing. I’m really scared how I’m going to cope with 2 under 2 and the effect it will have on my career. I had a bit of a breakdown last night with my husband and I was considering ending the pregnancy and then trying again a bit further down the line. I know that’s not what I want though and I could never do that, I’m just really overwhelmed!! I think the fact that my baby has been sick for past week, we are moving house next week and I have an exam a few days later is making me feel that way. Hopefully once I’m past all that I might start to bond with the pregnancy!

Thank you for starting the new thread. X

Hettyturnip · 30/12/2017 09:59

babydreaming you have so much going on at the moment, no wonder you feel like that. I think everyone worries about how they’ll cope, I know I am! I had pretty much decided not to have a third, especially as my other children will have to share a room again and my career is just picking up again after previous 2 babies. Can you get a really early night and your OH deal with your LO so you can have a proper rest?

Hettyturnip · 30/12/2017 10:04

peterpanwendy i’m not so bloated at the moment, but headaches have been bad - can we take paracetamol in first trimester?? Plus nausea at really random times - I was nearly sick in the car yesterday afternoon and I was just sick after breakfast today (yay though, been stressing about lack of vomming)
