Happy New Year to everyone Flowers

I have had my booking in appointment and am consultant lead but no idea why. Maybe my age (36) or my low BMI??

Gizzymum · 01/01/2018 11:23

@gkeen369 I've not had my booking appt yet but your age alone wouldn't be an issue (I was 37 last time and midwife led). I don't know at what point (if any) weight becomes an issue.

Gizzymum · 01/01/2018 11:25

I found this document which is for an NHS trust and shows the criteria for consultant vs midwife led. Hope it helps

@misshannah the birthing centre and hospital where I will have scans are 25 miles away from my work but less than a mile from my home so don't worry you're not alone. It will mean I miss most of a morning or afternoon for a scan/appointment but there's nothing work can do about it it's our right to choose and take time off for appointments. When are you planning on telling them? I'm so scared to do it!

misshannah · 01/01/2018 11:36

@peterpanwendy I'm not planing on telling them until after the 12 week scan. My job is high pressure and my manager is one of those that says all the right things, but means the opposite. They won't be impressed as I only started in May and was then diagnosed with ME in July which they have struggled with and seem to think once moved house which I did over Christmas I would be fully recovered.... i also get the impression my manager is very judgemental and old fashioned, my DP have no intentions of getting married.... this is going to be fun!!! Grin

pestov · 01/01/2018 11:45

@Misshannah why is your DP against marriage? I couldn't recommend strongly enough to everyone to make sure they have the legal protections of marriage if they are planning to change anything about their family finances as a result of pregnancy. Going part time? SAHM? Your DP could very easily leave and you'd be entitled to nothing for all the childcare you've provided whilst he earns, furthers his career and builds a pension. Just have a read of the relationships board to see what I mean. Babies change everything for women.

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 01/01/2018 12:05

Happy new year!

Please may I join you, I'm 7wks +4 with DC2 due 17/08. Feeling much more tired this time round and nausea.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 01/01/2018 14:45

Just had a letter with 12week scan date how exciting 🙌🏼 however I'll only be 11+2 due to late ovulation do you think that's still ok??

SpriteGirl · 01/01/2018 15:56

Yes absolutely. My doctor told me the ‘12 week scan’ would be between 10-14 weeks and the midwife said 11-12 weeks. They can’t possibly catch everyone at exactly the right date.

SmashyCup · 01/01/2018 16:15

Happy new year everyone!

I've been so ill this last week, nausea all day and barely able to move from exhaustion. I didn't want to tell me boss about the pregnancy until the scan but can't work like this so I've emailed him and HR today to let them know. Hoping they are ok about it as I've only been back from mat leave a few months!

I'm going to try to get a GP appointment to get some anti-sickness medication, I need to work and can't do it like this. What have other people been prescribed? Last time I just suffered through it but this time it's worse.

LadesC · 01/01/2018 17:03

Ive barely moved since 27 dec so feel ur pain. Back to work weds and i have a scan tomorrow. I have no idea how im going to get myself sorted for either of those things especially work. Think i mite need to see gp too.....i had this in 1st preg but i think its worse this time too. I honestly dont know how to get thru each day.

Crissy83 · 01/01/2018 17:49

Hi everyone, HNY to you all. Quick query. I self referred to our local midwifery centre last week. Had a call back from them, lady on the phone asked some questions (relationship status, pregnancy history etc.) she then said I'd get an appointment for blood tests through the post and another for a scan around 10-12 weeks. Does this constitute a booking in appointment do you think?! I think I was expecting a more thorough session/meeting with a midwife before the scan? Maybe not - this is our first so it's all new!! Thanks.

Gizzymum · 01/01/2018 17:55

@Crissy83 every area does it differently I think so I don't know.

BertieBotts · 01/01/2018 18:15

My hair has gone all weird, kind of dry and stringy. Anyone else?

amzq87 · 01/01/2018 18:41

Fun fact about me - I loooove halloumi. However, tonight, it turned my stomach Shock husband has lucked out as he loves it too so got my share haha!

StrawberryLemonade · 01/01/2018 19:52

I’m dreading going back to work tomorrow with this exhaustion and nausea. Feel horrendous!

SmashyCup it’s often cyclizine that’s prescribed first line. I’m tempted to contact GP myself to see if I can get some but I won’t be able to go see them/reliably answer my phone whilst at work. Will have to see how it goes next few days.

E2017 · 01/01/2018 20:07

@amzq87 I feel your pain. I've had it a few times now where we are having some of my favourite foods and the smell has turned my stomach before I've taken a bite and the husband has then won double portions. Made a carrot and coriander soup yesterday went to eat first spoonful and nearly threw up in it as I couldn't take the smell. It's usually a favourite. 🙁

In regards to sickness still having plenty of that and bloating.

SmashyCup · 01/01/2018 20:58

@StrawberryLemonade thank you, I'll ask for some cyclizine. Sorry to hear you and @LadesC are struggling so much too. There's no way I can commute like this, the train would make me 🤢. Hope we can all get ourselves straight soon. I hope with medication I might be well enough for work later in the week? Then just the alarm clock to contend with.

butterfly86 · 01/01/2018 22:54

It's good to hear so many of you suffering with nausea and I mean that in the nicest possible way! Really feeling it today, I can't actually throw up just on the brink of it constantly...forgot how awful it is I threw up at least 4 times a day until 22 weeks last time I really hope it wears off sooner this time!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 02/01/2018 07:31

Morning all. Really sorry to hear about the nausea. I've had the bad hangover feeling for the past few weeks but 9 + 6 now and its lifted slightly the past couple of days so it comes and goes but isn't constant. Think it was similar pattern with previous dc.

Got my appointment through for scan but its not until 23 Jan when i'll be almost 13 weeks according to my last scan. Wish it was earlier as I don't want to tell my team until after i've had the results back but will be difficult to hide as I already have a small bump and rapidly expanding arse

spydie · 02/01/2018 07:32

Happy New year everyone! Sorry to hear some of you are suffering so badly, I only have nausea that tends to get worse as the day goes on, I was definitely worse with my first pregnancy I think, although that was also mid summer and it was hot!

I'm really struggling to wee Sad need to make a GP appointment. I lost the urge to go after DDs delivery and it never came back in 2 years but now seems to be getting worse. I'm not sure I can wait for my consultant appointment as no idea when that might be.

Peoniesandcats · 02/01/2018 07:58

Happy new year everyone.

Good luck to those going back to work today. Not sure how we are going to cope!! Won't be able to take 3pm naps anymore....

misshannah · 02/01/2018 09:25

@pestov My DP and I are not against marriage, just not rushing down the aisle for it either. I get it protects me/ DC and we will get to is at some point just don't fancy rushing it just because I'm pregnant. Even if we do get married we'll be eloping as i don't like these big white wedding things or the amount of money people waste spend on them.
I should add that we are mortgage and debt free at 30 and own our place entirely, both in very secure jobs and fairy decently paid jobs (I earn significantly more than him), i'm in a role I've been doing for 12 years and I will continue to work although plan to reduce to 4 days eventually.

Aspergallus · 02/01/2018 10:31

Morning all.

Nausea has built to a peak and been spewing all morning.

Also woken up with PUPPS, which I've only had post-partum previously.

Just feel so bad, how can this only be my 6th week...

Aspergallus · 02/01/2018 10:40

TheGrumpySquirrel I'd be really happy with a scan at 11+2, it's actually more accurate than a 12w+ scan.

www.ultrasoundcare.com.au/services/pregnancy-ultrasound-5-17-weeks-dating-and-viability.html

In my second pregnancy I knew exactly when I conceived given that we were charting everything due to fertility issues. Unfortunately they couldn't fit me in for the first scan till between 13+14 weeks. Their dates were out (compared to mine) for the whole pregnancy after that, with about 10 days difference. I had DS at 37w (by my calculations) and 38+4 by theirs. He looked to me like a healthy 37w baby -good size but hadn't laid down a lot of fat. But he looked like a skinny 38+ baby, if you see what I mean.

I plan to book in asap this time and hopefully get a scan before 12w.
