We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

I just phoned the reception and told them I was expecting. The midwife phoned me back to ask questions and booked me in for my appointment at roughly 8 weeks :-)

RedBlackberries · 26/08/2017 09:50

Hiya, can I join? I'm about 5 weeks pregnant. Not really feeling it this time around. It's my second one and completely unplanned! Congratulations to everyone. I'm hoping some of your positivity might rub off on me!

MrsOB27 · 26/08/2017 10:00

I rang the local midwife (as can't get in my doctors for weeksHmm) they have booked me in for when I am 6 weeks! Not sure what happens at this appointment but it's nice to be booked in and looking forward to it!

JuniUmiZoomi · 26/08/2017 10:16

Hi new BFPs! Exciting!
Thanks for the info MrsOB, things were a bit convoluted last time as I have a tricky history. Booking in appointment is where they will ask you a zillion questions, take some blood, weigh you, test you wee. I hope they've saved the info from last time. I had mine about 9 weeks and then had early scan day after, although they were rushing to fit it all in. I'll get to six weeks then call.

One of our close friends was pregnant at our wedding and nobody had a clue. She just stuck to clear coloured soft drinks and always ensured she had a lot in her glass so she could drop out of a round.

I've got a friends big birthday next month and we're supposed to be staying away. Think I'll be using the 'I've got work in the morning excuse'

Fillybee · 26/08/2017 10:40

Good that you can sort directly with your midwife rather than having to go to GP. Don't think can do that here!

katiegd · 26/08/2017 13:34

Hi and welcome @Kublakhan @MrsH2017 @MrsOB27 @Fillybee @RedBlackberries @Catndogmummy

I had my first bit of nausea this morning. Sort of glad to feel it in a way as it makes it seem more real although I'm sure I won't think that if it gets worse.

Re GP/midwife appointment, I rang and asked the receptionist at my practice what I needed to do and she said I should book a GP appt to register it with them. Process seems to vary so much from area to area!

Managed so far with the not drinking although today is the big challenge as more friends are arriving.

Can I join please? I got my bfp this morning so due date is currently the 9th May. I'm so excited but also pretty scared as I had a miscarriage in June. Already have morning sickness and boobs are really sore so taking those as good signs. I'm so excited for us all! Oh and I've got one DS who is 19 months old now.

I took a pregnancy test today and it was positive. I'm due 1 May apparently which coincidentally is also my partners birthday. I'm 43 and this will be my first.

Katiegd, if you're okay with being economical with the truth, you could tell people you're on antibiotics to explain your lack of drinking.

Lindyj0 · 26/08/2017 21:58

Also, what is bfp?

Lindyj0 · 26/08/2017 21:59

And yes to Facebook group 👍

Glad I'm not the only clumsy one today! Started pouring my cereal into a pan rather than my bowl this morning Confused haha!

Thanks for the list of acronyms SexlubeandaFishslice, everything seems a lot clearer already. The link to Facebook group is not working for me, it says the page is unavailable 😞

Thank for setting up the Facebook group - I've just requested to join. Oh gosh I'm clumsy all the time anyway haha so hope I don't get any more clumsy!!

How is everyone's symptoms going? Morning sickness and sore boobs here! It does reassure me a little that this one may stick even though I'm already tiring of throwing up!

MrsOB27 · 27/08/2017 08:01

Just nausea and sore boobs for me! Been getting the odd bit of back pain too! Has anyone told any family yet? Going to keep it to a very small minimum (just our parents i think) until the 12 weeks..... fingers crossed everything goes well till then! I'm going to have to tell my mum soon!

Lindyj0 · 27/08/2017 08:04

The Facebook link works for me now but I'm worried about joining it in case anyone sees me join a group with that title! Is there any way of making the name a little more vague? We all know what it's about after all. I'm just worried about people finding out too early. I was pregnant 5 years ago and had a mc at 6 weeks. We'd stupidly gone around telling people and then had to go around 'untelling'people.

MrsOB27 · 27/08/2017 08:08

I feel the same bit nervous people can see so haven't joined yet!
