We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

I'm not telling anyone until the 12 week scan @katiegd don't want to jinx it and it's quite nice it's our little secret for now. I'm sure Mum will suspect but I just want to make sure everything's ok first.

My OH just asked me if we can keep the sex a secret... not sure I will manage that!!! Need to think about it.

MammaBear18 · 29/08/2017 19:53

Thank you so much @katiegd, this helps massively!

Wow 20 months that must've been so hard, especially as I'm assuming you have long cycles? After having my IUD out, my cycles went from 28 days to ~35 days and I was so upset about that! Can't imagine your patience x

We haven't told a soul. With our first we had ICSI after 5 years of infertility. Quite a few people knew we were having treatment and naturally they wanted to know how it went. Although I appreciated the support of people around me, it all felt very public. This time round we've had a frozen embryo transfer without telling anyone at all and although its a little strange, it's beautifully private.

In fact, we've told our son, but at 18 months he's not quite got the language to spill our secret Grin

Hummingbird15 · 29/08/2017 22:16

Hello

I'm a bit nervous posting as I've had 4 fairly faint bfps, but this evening's was a bit darker so starting to believe it might be real (but still a bit worried it could be a chemical pregnancy).

I think I'll be due 9-11 May (my cycle length is a little unpredictable).

I have a 20 month old ds, so he'd be nearly 2.5 - no idea if that's a good or bad age gap (or if there really is a perfect gap anyway!).

Look forward to hopefully getting to know you all over the next few months.

katiegd · 30/08/2017 07:39

Welcome @Hummingbird15 and congratulations. Hope all is well and you stick around.

@MammaBear18 it was actually due to partner needing an operation last year, which stalled us for about 6 months, plus the odd month where one of us was away at the crucial time. My cycles were luckily fairly short - 26-27 days. It did feel like we'd been on the TTC bus for ages tho. We were literally in the middle of fertility testing when we got our BFP :).

Hi,

Jus had my first BFP last night after 2.5 years TTC. Think I'm in shock after seeing two lines! Estimated due date 5th May 2018

MammaBear18 · 30/08/2017 08:33

Congrats and welcome @Hummingbird15! If you tested early or ovulated later than you think you did, your lines will be faint so don't worry.

@katiegd what a lucky escape!

Welcome @arapunzel! 😘

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 30/08/2017 08:57

Hello hummingbird my DS has just turned 2, so he will be just over 2.5 when next one arrives. I don't think there's any such thing as a perfect age gap, it depends so much on their personalities. My only thought is when you get to a very large gap, it might take a while for them to have much in common. There's 7 years between DH and SIL and they didn't really socialise until they were adults.

We haven't told anyone irl yet, we didn't even tell anyone we were trying for a second. DH is very private and would rather wait until the 12 week scan. I agree, but ended up letting it slip a few times far too early. Still doesn't feel real - other than having to get up in the night to pee, I don't feel that different.

MrsOB27 · 30/08/2017 09:23

Congrats new bfp's! Smile we have told our parents and that's it for now, going to wait till first appointment then maybe tell our siblings and possibly my best friend! It's so hard keeping it quiet though!! But want to make sure everything is ok first.

Fillybee · 30/08/2017 13:06

@JuniUmi I think they'll probably try external scan but might go for internal to get a clearer look.

We've told one friend each, not going to tell anyone else until at least the first scan but I'd rather wait till 12 weeks tbh. After what happened previously I don't want the whole 'untelling' everyone business again which was pretty painful!

Crikey some of you have had such long ttc journeys.... how great that you stuck at it and now have your reward!

Thunderwing · 30/08/2017 13:44

Hello all, got my BFP yesterday (after feeling pregnant for the last week!)

According to due date calculators I am 4+4 and due on 5th May. Smile

Hope it's OK that I've requested to join the FB group too? I am not telling anyone for a little while IRL but I'm desperate to talk about it!!

Californiadreaming15 · 30/08/2017 14:08

We had to tell my mum and dad as we are living with them until our new house is ready. If I didn't tell them they'd be worrying as I've had a bit of sickness. Ended up telling OH's parents as we felt bad that only one set knew. I'll also have to tell my sister as we had already planned to take my niece and nephew to Alton Towers at the weekend and I won't be able to go on anything with them. If it wasn't for all of this I'd be holding off for ages.

Thunderwing · 30/08/2017 14:45

I think I'm going to have to tell my friends, we are going on a girly weekend next week (been planned for a year) and it'll be suspicious if I'm not drinking. Although, I'm tempted to say that I've had a blood test which shows abnormal liver function so Dr has asked me to abstain for a few days before re-testing... I actually had this a few years ago!

Chipsahoy · 30/08/2017 17:05

Hello all. I got my BFP on Tuesday. It was really dark, so this time around I haven't bothered doing anymore. Last two pregnancies I took four or five before i believed it.
So this is dc3. Very relaxed and calm in a way I haven't been I'm previous pregnancies.
Huge sore boobs and lots of cramps. Exhausted too.

Here's to a happy and uneventful 8months for us all.

MammaBear18 · 30/08/2017 18:17

@Thunderwing I have a similar issue - we have arranged end-of-symmer drinks with a friend on Saturday and he's a keen drinker and will expect me & hubby to join in! I might use your brilliant excuse as I don't want to be telling him just yet!

Thunderwing · 30/08/2017 18:40

You're welcome to steal it mamma Grin I'm hoping that everyone accepts it, i think if I went in with the old 'antibiotics' story they'd be on to me immediately!

We have spa treatments planned too but I'm assuming they'll be ok if I stick to facials/ head massages? Does anyone know if back massage is recommended or not at this stage?!

Catndogmummy · 30/08/2017 18:52

I'm not sure if you can have back massages at this stage, but I'd maybe mention to the therapist that you're pregnant as not all essential oils are safe but they'll know what can be used on you! Enjoy!

Fillybee · 30/08/2017 18:57

I wasn't allowed to do a full body massage in my last pregnancy... maybe head massage will be ok but they'll ask you if you're pregnant and then they'll be able to advise

RedPanda25 · 30/08/2017 19:02

@Thunderwing what a great excuse! I may have to steal it too! Luckily so far I've got away with the driving excuse but not sure how much longer I'll be able to use that for. We go on holiday for a week on Sunday so at least that'll pass some time. Although the last holiday we went on I miscarried so really nervous now.

I think back massages may be a no go - but you could have a head and shoulder massage? And just say you've pulled your lower back so don't want that to be touched if anyone asks?

Thunderwing · 30/08/2017 19:03

Thanks everyone, I'll be more than happy with a head massage anyway, been getting headaches most days 😕

RedPanda25 · 30/08/2017 19:03

Oh and congratulations @Chipsahoy! I've done three tests, the last being Monday and I've decided not to do anymore. Here's to a healthy 8 months to us all!

Thunderwing · 30/08/2017 19:09

Oh Red, so sorry to hear about your previous mc, my first pregnancy ended in early mc too and I was terrified the first 12 weeks with my DD. I feel a bit more relaxed this time, I can't explain why...

I wish us all a successful, happy 8 months! Im actually really looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months!

katiegd · 31/08/2017 00:14

Having some light spotting which has got me worried Sad. Calling EPU tomorrow morning.

MammaBear18 · 31/08/2017 01:31

Fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about @katiegd - I read that unless it's bright red with clots it's usually normal and quite common.
