Brilliant news about the scans ladies! @xxHappyHippyxx What a clear picture! How lovely Smile.

6 days to go until my dating scan, and I'm getting more and more nervous each day. Eek!

xxHappyHippyxx · 17/08/2017 14:16

Thanks ladies 😊

@Flatwhite31 time goes so slowly!! It's worse than being a kid at Christmas! 🤣 fingers crossed for yours too! 🤞

And 🤞🤞 for everyone with imminent scans.. can't wait to see some more little alien blobs 😊

KerryLeanne84 · 17/08/2017 14:22

Congratulations happyhippy! The baby looks fab! Glad it all went well

I haven't bought anything, definitely holding off until after my scan next week 😊

CCBloom1 · 17/08/2017 14:43

Congratulations to all the happy scans had today.

It's an exciting time. My scan isn't until the 31st August when I'll be 13+3 which seems so far away, but I'm looking forward to seeing a baby shape, we had a scan at 7 weeks and it was a little blob. (A cute little blob)
:)

FuzzyOwl · 17/08/2017 15:11

Wonderful scan news. I only had my booking in appointment today so feel a long way behind but starting to feel excited now.

If anyone else wants to join the secret Facebook group, just send me a message with the email address you use to log in and I will add you.

ZylaB · 17/08/2017 15:15

Aww brilliant news on all the scans! We've got kne on Saturday with the harmony test, I'll be 10+2 so hoping for a more baby shaped scan 😄

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 18:35

Just curious, did everyone get told heart rate when they had their early scans? My guy didn't mention it - just said there was a heartbeat, showed us it and everything looked good - but I'm wishing I'd asked now as it's just another thing to obsess about!

FuzzyOwl · 17/08/2017 18:37

I had a scan last week and was just told there was a good, strong heartbeat. I'm sure something would have been said if it was a concern or else it wouldn't have been phrased in such a positive way.

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 18:41

Thanks @fuzzyowl I think it was because I didn't get told the heart rate and didn't get told it was strong, so naturally after being relieved I am now obsessing like an idiot.
But you're right, it was a private viability scan so I'm sure if there was anything to worry about it would have been commented on and I would have been asked to go back.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 17/08/2017 18:45

Got my scan date through today - 5th September, so bloody ages away! Sad Don't these people realise I'm impatient??

OrangeCloud18 · 17/08/2017 18:54

They did not give the heart rate at our private scan but said there was a strong heartbeat.

I'm still here, just still throwing up... I'm past 11 weeks now so really hope it starts to ease off!

Moose23IsHungry · 17/08/2017 19:14

Lovely to hear of all the good news.

Just went for a private scan at what I thought was 8.5 weeks but is apparently measuring a week ahead! Crazy.

FuzzyOwl · 17/08/2017 19:34

I was told once when having a private scan that they are obliged to tell you about anything that looks concerning whyhas.

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 19:56

Thanks @fuzzyowl i know i'm being ridiculous. They wouldn't have sent us off saying everything look a good if it didn't. Man why is everything so stressful!!

Hope time goes quickly for everyone waiting for scans x

Onceuponamama · 17/08/2017 20:02

Hi everyone, it's been so lovely to see the baby scan pictures whilst catching up. Makes it feel so real how many bundles will be here around March 18! I think it's crazy how you are able to see so much more at the 12 week scan compared to the earlier ones! Our scan pic was at 8 weeks and baby looked like a small bubble on the screen.

why at our early scan we weren't told anything much about the heart just that it was a 'good strong' one.

I think it will be ages until my 12 week scan though. I'm 10.1 and my BP isn't until next week! (I'm a little concerned it won't be scheduled in time!)

Minervamouse77 · 17/08/2017 20:03

Lovely to hear all the lovely scan news. Mine is on the 25th, I'm feeling excited and apprehensive.

I've had the worst headache today, any advice on how to ease it without resorting to paracetamol?

I had a lovely chat with my dad recently, he's a man of few words and is generally know as being a grump about babies and small children but I can tell he's excited about becoming a grandad. I think he's making me a cot and he let slip that my dsm has bought stuff for the baby already. My DM is being remarkably calm and patient and has said she'll wait until the scan until she starts knitting, although she wants to visit every weekend to check I'm ok. It's so nice knowing they are so happy and excited about it.

Bluebell93 · 17/08/2017 20:27

@Minervamouse77 paracetamol is fine, I've taken it a few times so I really wouldn't worry about having it if you're in pain. Saying that, if I get a slight headache (usually due to tiredness, I'm so exhausted all the time) I've been using that menthol stuff you put on your forehead (I think it's called 4head?) which helps without being drugs!

@GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt how long did it take for your scan appointment to come through? My booking appointment was last Friday and I'm so desperate to know when it is so I can plan with work etc. I'm 9 weeks today so still 3 weeks until I'm 12, but we go away on 16 Sep when I'll be 13+2 and my week of work before that is awfully busy with appointments. I'll just have to miss work if it's that week and tell my boss if he asks why I need the time off, but would prefer to avoid that!

Also freaked myself out this week as I'd been putting bonjela on my sore wisdom tooth for a few days until it crossed my mind I should check whether I can use it - FYI it's not recommended in pregnancy Confused.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 17/08/2017 20:35

Minerva how lovely your parents sound!

SS81C · 17/08/2017 20:58

@bluebell youll probabky find that almost all drugs say not recomended in pregnancy or breastfeeding because they can't test them. I've got great link somewhere for meds in pregnancy I'll see if I can find it.

Flatwhite31 · 17/08/2017 21:48

@Minervamouse77 paracetamol is fine. I am just getting over a fairly severe infection which was causing me a lot of pain, so I had to have it. I've also had to take heavy duty antibiotics orally and by cannula. Of course I'd rather not take medication, but my midwife, GP and the hospital doctors reassured me all everything I was taking was pregnancy safe. A couple of paracetamol won't do any harm. X

Minervamouse77 · 17/08/2017 22:29

Thanks flatwhite and bluebell, I was hoping to avoid taking it but nothing else I tried worked so I gave in.

Nellwilson, they are awesome, I'm so lucky that DM and DD still get on despite being divorced and DM and DSM get on really well. We've had a tough 18months as a family and my pregnancy has given us all something new and joyful back into our lives.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 17/08/2017 23:21

Bluebell, I had my booking appt on Monday and the letter with my scan date arrived today. I hope you get your letter tomorrow, but perhaps give the scanning dept a call on Monday if you haven't heard anything?

Jacqueje · 18/08/2017 07:14

Morning all, just catching up on all the news, congrats on all the scans, pictures look great! @dancingunicorn thanks for putting in all the time on the google docs spreadsheet!

Been feeling bit crap last few days, sick of feeling sick and bit moody and hormonal. My line manager noticed yesterday and asked if I was ok but have already told him I'm pregnant so made it easier to explain. Then in the afternoon my computer froze when I was trying to get work finished as had to leave for first booking appt and I had strong urge (which thankfully suppressed!) to throw it out the window! Oh and randomly getting it in my head that I'm going to have mc, even though had no bleeding or spotting.

But then had my booking appt yesterday afternoon, mw was super lovely and made it all feel bit more real. 12/40 scan is on 12/09 and also told me who my mw will be for the pregnancy and booked me in for her clinic for my 16/40 check, so feeling well looked after.

mrskitty15 · 18/08/2017 07:45

Thank you all for the lovely comments 😊 and congratulations to everyone who had their scans yesterday.

Feeling more positive this morning, except for the dreadful cold and sore throat I now have Sad

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 07:57

oh poor you @Mrskitty15 that's rubbish! I was told paracetamol was okay when i picked up a bug so don't know if that will help? you can also get a lot of pregnancy friendly sore throat soothers in holland and barratt
