Those who have had a 12 week scan already this time around or with previous pregnancies, did they tell you at the scan your baby's NT measurement and whether they have a nasal bone? Also, how long until you got the results? I'm winding myself into a mini panic, oddly not because I think anything is wrong, but just because I want to have the all clear for my mother-out-law's birthday to tell her the next week (thinking of giving her a happy birthday grannie card or photo album). I'm also slightly nervous that there'll be a delay for more tests making us wrecks for her party (in our part-decorated house). Thanks

lokelani · 18/08/2017 09:17

@Excited1203 great question. My scan is Monday and I've focussed on that date being the one when we know how everything is going and so long as my dates aren't too far off (I should be about 12+4h we can tell people. Is that going to be the case?

Flatwhite31 · 18/08/2017 09:22

Oh no @mrskitty15! Paracetamol is definitely fine. When I was in hospital on Mon, the doctor I saw said pregnancy can lower your immune system. Talking of which, has anyone had a letter recommending they get a flu jab in Sept/Oct? I've never had one, but I know they recommend it in pregnancy. I'm going to book mine after my 12 week scan if everything is ok.

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 09:26

It says in my notes I can book a flu jab at any time - I'm going to speak to the midwife as I had it last year in November when I was pregnant before my MMC so not sure how long it lasts for?

Since I've been put back slightly by the early scan dates - I know it can fluctuate date wise this early - I'm now closer to 8 weeks than 9, and am wondering when this exhaustion is likely to ease off? I feel so pathetic, I don't have any other DC to look after and work from home most days so I know I have it easy compared to a lot of people but I'm really struggling to stay awake by the afternoons and often get a banging headache if I can't nap. It's turned me into a bit of a recluse!
Has anyone had super tiredness that has eased off as they've got closer to 12 weeks?

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 18/08/2017 09:30

@Excited1203 I knew the nuchal fold (not sure if I've spelt that right Hmm) measurement because it was on my notes after the scan I think. And I've never been told if they have a nasal bone or not but everything has always been fine so I'm not sure if that's something they'd mention if there wasn't?

This is for my previous pregnancies

Flatwhite31 · 18/08/2017 09:44

@whyhastherumgone my exhaustion eased off quite a bit at 9 weeks. It returned with a vengeance this week (11 weeks) BUT I do think my hospital episode/infection has been largely responsible for that. I feel much better today actually! It's a ridiculous level of exhaustion isn't it. I had never felt anything quite like it!

Scoobygang7 · 18/08/2017 09:46

@whyhastherumgone flu jabs last for that season, as it's usually a different strain each year.

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 09:47

Thank you @FlatWhite31 - there is hope! I know, I've really genuinely felt this constantly tired before, even when I've been ill it's been for a short period then I've bounced back. Luckily DH is really understanding and supportive but I feel like a terrible wife and friend at the moment, just don't seem to have the energy to do anything.
How are you feeling now? Are you on the mend?

Excited1203 · 18/08/2017 10:02

Thanks @Sallywiththegoodhurr. Maybe I'll just ask them, try to get my mind put at rest. Do you know when you got your results, or did you not do the combined test?

@FlatWhite31 and @whyhastherumgone - I've never known tiredness like this either. I feel constantly drained and resting doesn't seem to make it better. I'm 10+4, so hoping it doesn't last much beyond next week (which I've taken off work). I couldn't even manage a walk in the park on a sunny evening on Sunday, it's ridiculous, that's one of our favourite things to do and I'd been in bed or on sofa all day.

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 18/08/2017 10:16

I got them through the post a couple of weeks later @Excited1203, I was told if there's something wrong they call you within a few days of the test

Excited1203 · 18/08/2017 10:47

It's no good wailing that everything is taking too long with time standing still like this, is it?

Flatwhite31 · 18/08/2017 10:52

@whyhastherumgone I'm also lucky to have a very supportive DH! I also feel like a bad wife/friend. I haven't seen many of my friends over the summer hols as I just haven't had the energy.
Re infection, I'm feeling a lot better today thank you. It has made me realise how utterly crap I have felt this week. Onwards and upwards from now on hopefully! Just tried going into school to sort my classroom cupboard out, but it was locked. Will have to go next week instead.

@Excited1203 time does seem to stand still a bit doesn't it?! I hate wishing time away, but at the same time I'm just desperate for scan day to (hopefully) relieve the usual pre 12 week anxiety!

xxHappyHippyxx · 18/08/2017 11:51

😭😭 my DH (we're not married is it still DH or DP? I don't know all the abbreviations lol) anyway he's away now until next Wednesday so I'm all on my own with the hounds, my tiredness had eased off but he's been doing a lot around the house and walking them so I suspect I'll be exhausted again by the time he gets back!!

@Excited1203 The sonographer asked if we wanted the nuchal test while we were there, and we said yes and she did it and told us what it was there and then, but she never said anything about nasal bone? I'd just ask while they're looking if they don't do it as standard! It only took her a few seconds.

@whyhastherumgone she didn't say strong heartbeat or anything, she just saw it said "yep there's the heartbeat" then turned the screen to show us. Didn't get told a heart rate at either scan. I could barely notice it on my early scan (about 8 weeks) and they weren't worried by what they saw, was just a tiny flicker then but it was definitely recognisable yesterday!

KerryLeanne84 · 18/08/2017 12:59

Has anyone else had any thick yellowy/greeny discharge - light yellow/green that is (gross, sorry!).

I've googled and seen plenty of women who had it throughout without a problem but its still freaking me out a bit!

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 13:00

ah thanks @scooby

@xxhappyhippyxx thank you! I love this group it's so so helpful.

Today's food of choice that i must have is tuna sweet corn sandwiches. I will probably hate them by tomorrow

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 13:01

@kerryleanne84 my notes say if you get greeny/yellow to contact your midwife. I don't think it's anything serious but might need to be checked out and treated? maybe call your midwife or if you don't have one yet call the gp or your EPU for advice?

KerryLeanne84 · 18/08/2017 13:21

Thanks for the advice @whyhastherumgone !

I just called and she said it's likely fine unless its itchy, smelly or you feel ill, but that my GPs can do a swab to check if I have an infection that I don't know about that needs antibiotics.

I'll keep an eye on it and potentially go in for that on Monday if its still happening :)

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 13:26

Good to hear, glad you got it checked - always better to play it safe :)

KerryLeanne84 · 18/08/2017 13:28

Thanks lovely! Update - I've got an appt with the nurse later today for a swab.

I've got my 12 week scan on Thurs and I just feel so anxious right now!

blinkineckmum · 18/08/2017 13:47

This has moved on fast! I have 2 DC already but can't help with the nuchal thingy as I always refuses the Downs testing (hope that I've understood that right).
Those with DC already, what age gaps do you have? I have 21 months and this gap will be 28 months. 21 months has been great. I stayed at home with both babies the whole time (no childcare or help). They were both still napping. But my younger one doesn't nap much now, and I'll have a preschool run to do this time, so I'm a bit nervous! Although toilet training is done this time so only one in nappies!
Half way through mat leave the older one will start school and the younger will get her 30 hours of childcare, so that should be nice...
Trying not to get carried away with the planning before the 12 week scan!
Hope you're all well.

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 18/08/2017 14:07

I have 12 months between 1&2, 23 months between 2&3 and will be due when DC3 is 27 months

blinkineckmum · 18/08/2017 14:14

Which is the best gap Sally? How old will your eldest be when the little one arrives?

whereareyousleep · 18/08/2017 14:19

I will have 4 years 8 months so quite a big gap.

blinkineckmum · 18/08/2017 14:20

How is that whereareyou? My eldest will be 4 years 2 months when the little one comes.

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 18/08/2017 14:21

@blinkineckmum the gap between my eldest and current youngest is just under 3 years (1 month under) so I'd say that was the easiest. Going from 2-3 was actually really easy, I'd be told it would be but obviously didn't believe anyone!

My eldest will be just turned 5 (hopefully), she will be 5 in February and I'm due the end of march but it's twins this time so who knows when they will arrive
