@Sallywiththegoodhurrr oh my you're having twins?! How did you find out? The scan?

scottishem · 16/08/2017 13:29

First day back at work for me (primary school) and its lunch time and I'm ready to drop! No sickness luckily but a banging headache as can't get to my water as often as I'de like to and my feet and back are killing me! Get me back to my bed!!
Also need to try and catch my head to actually tell her that I'm pregnant so that's gunna be a fun chat Confused quite surprised that when I looked at the legal requirements of when you have to tell your boss I'm actually not obliged to say until December Hmm wondering how you're meant to get any time off for appointments though if you waited that long!

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 16/08/2017 13:42

@lokelani Yes we paid for a private scan a couple of weeks ago. It hasn't sunk in yet!

WiIdfire · 16/08/2017 14:50

Afternoon all!

Had my dating scan this morning (11+5) - all looking good. Nice heartbeat, correct number of limbs etc, good low nuchal measurement. Phew. EDD brought forward to 26th Feb, but my last one was two weeks over so I'm not going to get too excited about a Feb baby.

Sally - congrats on the duo - how exciting!

Bluee and Scooby - also still breastfeeding here and it hurts like , glad to hear its not just me, thats reassuring. (Yes that is replying to a comment from 2 weeks ago, sorry!)

Flatwhite - sorry to hear about your Pilonidal. Am hoping the drainage will sort it out, however, don't want to be the voice of gloom or anything but theres a fair chance it will come back straight away. Fingers crossed it doesn't though.

Thanks for the google doc, will check my bit asap.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 16/08/2017 15:24

wildfire Great news!
Aww fab!..How old is your LO?
My nipples are so sore now i even had to get the lanisoh back out haha it's like magic isn't it!

Onceuponamama · 16/08/2017 15:34

Hi everyone...OK this might sound like a dumb first time mum question but what is a pampers nappy carry pack? (Is it just the term used for a pack of pampers nappies or does it mean something else?)

Congrats Sally on your twin baby news. So exciting for you!

hometownunicorn · 16/08/2017 15:59

Thanks for the google doc @DancingUnicorn and @Excited1203

Great news on the scan @WiIdfire

I'm getting a bit twitchy as coming up to the point where I miscarried last time. Or I would be if I wasn't so exhausted. Too tired to be anxious!

DancingUnicorn · 16/08/2017 16:41

Flatwhite scan buddy! Mine is 8.15. I'd have liked another half an hour in bed and off work but hey ho. Can't complain. Probably won't sleep a wink anyway.

Hometown with you in the anxiety. Getting closer to the scan, and the scan was the first indication anything was wrong last time. But there's no reason it shouldn't be just perfect for you this time around. The mc association had a stat that said you are less likely to miscarry in the 6 months following a mc. Which I'm taking as good news.

lokelani · 16/08/2017 17:17

Mine is monday late morning. I'm getting really nervous. Weird question but What happens with the screen. Do they look everything over first and check everything is ok before you see/hear anything (do you hear anything?).

Excited1203 · 16/08/2017 17:39

Congrats @Wildfire. It seems like the scans will come thick and fast now then. It's hard to wait all the way to next Friday for mine, then maybe it's a week for the Downs test result.

Tigger83 · 16/08/2017 17:40

Hi all sorry not been around much. Can I ask about symptoms I'm 9 and a half weeks and my symptoms seem to be easing off.... anyone else feel the same?

hometownunicorn · 16/08/2017 17:46

dancing that stat is reassuring, thank you. Good luck with your scan. As you say, there's no reason for it to be anything other than a perfect baby in there.

DancingUnicorn · 16/08/2017 17:50

Loke not where I was. It was a huge screen on the wall in front of the bed. Sad

Countdowntofour · 16/08/2017 17:58

@lokelani At my early scan she checked and then showed me, the screen was facing her at the beginning. At my other 12 week scans with my other girls I think I watched right from the start. It's scary and anxiety inducing but remember for the vast majority everything is perfect. You can always close your eyes if you're scared and tell them to show you once they find the heartbeat etc. You won't normally hear anything but you'll see their body/head and limbs etc, heartbeat etc :)

Countdowntofour · 16/08/2017 18:00

@Onceupon I'm pretty sure the carry pack is just a smaller pack size of nappies, rather than the massive ones you store in your cupboards - so they're good for say taking into hospital with you when you have your baby :)

Onceuponamama · 16/08/2017 18:16

Countdown - thank you. I came across it on boots today and was wondering what the difference was!

Tigger - I'm 10 weeks today and I think I'm feeling different. I'm still nauseous throughout the day but I've got more energy now. I've read feeling better could indicate that the placenta is better developed and taking over more with the baby.

Scoobygang7 · 16/08/2017 18:24

@WiIdfire the feeding isn't as bad at the moment just odd times it's making my toes curl.

Well my scan was meant to be the 24th but issues at my partners work mean he can't get the time off. Now my scan is on the 30th.

Have told my mil today on FaceTime voice sounds happy however her facial expression gave us her true thoughts. Not that we really care whether she's happy or not, as my oh said well we aren't having a baby for her. Yes we're skint, we are likely always gonna be skint. We have tons of love in the house and this will be the last one as I am requesting to be sterilised when I have my c-section.

Sorry that turned a bit moany but I've got nowhere else to vent.

WiIdfire · 16/08/2017 18:28

Its a shame when family aren't positive though, isn't it? Rant away!

Scoobygang7 · 16/08/2017 18:44

@WiIdfire it is even when you expect it. We've had a rotten year we move cross country oh lost his job, and until may he was unemployed and I was still a sahm. He got a job and she was rather pushy about putting or lb in nursery and me getting work too. So I think it boils down to her not being happy I'll likely be a sahm for another 3 years. Not that it's any of her business it's what my oh and I want.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 16/08/2017 19:38

Ugh that is shitty Scooby. She's had her turn at deciding how to run a family - she doesn't get to interfere with yours!

SS81C · 16/08/2017 19:43

Hope everyone is doing ok.

12 weeks today....cant believe how the last few weeks of flown....

My symptoms definitely eased off in the last couple of weeks and I'm so much less tired now.

Scan isn't until next week but I heard bubs heartbeat yesterday. So lush.

Big snuggles to those with family issues....what is it with pregnancy which turns off people's filters so they just say exactly how they feel.....urgh.

SheSaidHeSaid · 16/08/2017 20:09

Hi guys! I'm still around, just find it hard to keep up with this group Smile.

My symptoms have cooled a lot Tigger, I'm 11 weeks tomorrow. I almost, almost don't feel pregnant any more so want my dating scan even more now to remind myself I am!

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 16/08/2017 20:11

@Scoobygang7 I've also been thinking about getting sterilised if I need a c-section (Will have 5 children!). I've been doing some googling and wasn't sure if they still do it in the UK or not

whereareyousleep · 16/08/2017 20:15

I'm still here too will get more involved shortly just exhausted at moment hopefully will be finally moving next weekend so I'm in packing hell at the moment!

Flatwhite31 · 16/08/2017 20:21

Aww that's great we are scan buddies @DancingUnicorn! Nice for us both that they are in the morning too.

Sorry to hear about your MIL @Scoobygang7. Love is what's important! I wish people would keep such opinions to themselves.

@Tigger83 I had a big improvement in symptoms when I hit 9 weeks, but for the past two days the sore boobs, nausea and food aversions have returned (I'm 11 weeks today). I was in hospital on Monday due to an infection, though, so I do wonder if my body is just exhausted and therefore more symptomatic (my symptoms in the very early weeks were always worse when I was tired).

Great news about your scan @WiIdfire! Smile
