How were your dreams @NorthernBelly, any better?

I slept in two patches, 8.30-12.30, followed by late dinner and TV with my partner, then 3-8am, with an extra nap planned soon and one planned this afternoon. Small sleeps means I don't remember my dreams, but my body seems to be coping a bit better with this strategy the few times I tried it rather than trying to stay awake for too long at once. My partner liked having me around for chatting in the early hours (he'd been painting the kitchen until midnight, trying to get the jobs done).

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 12/08/2017 11:51

Hi all - I fell off the thread a bit.

7+6 and nausea is really hitting now. Struggling to cope with my 5yo today (ARGH just stop squirming and talking for one uninterrupted minute!) and can't really remember why I ever wanted one child, let alone two.

I realise I'm very lucky etc. But I feel pretty sorry for myself right now. I want to go to bed and forget the world for a bit, like I could in my first pregnancy.

Excited1203 · 12/08/2017 12:10

Hi @NellWilsonsWhiteHair - good to see you back, you're the one doing this on your own I think, unless I got confused (sorry if so, trying to remember everyone)? Did you make a decision about the scan?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 12/08/2017 12:20

Hi Excited and thanks for the welcome back! Yes, that's me. :)

Pretty sure I'm just going to hold out for my 12 week scan now. I think for me it would actually foster more anxiety when at the moment I feel quite calm and positive about this pregnancy.

Excited1203 · 12/08/2017 12:30

You're not too far off now @NWWH; I've read that nausea is the most positive sign that pregnancy is going well, so I appreciate mine when it comes. I'm on a countdown to my scan, 13 more days + 1 week for the test results. Have you decided on a friend or family member to take with you to the scan?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 12/08/2017 14:25

Ooh, 13 days will fly by! Exciting. 33 days for me! My mum's going to come with me, which will be nice.

That is a reassuring point, about nausea. I am feeling slightly better after some fresh air and pickled gherkins with my lunch - definitely feeling like a pregnant cliche right now!

OrangeCloud18 · 12/08/2017 15:48

I'm having decent afternoons at the moment but mornings are still difficults. I have not thrown up in a few days (although almost did a few times) so I hope that I am getting better!
I've got acne all over my face, breast and back and I have the vivid dreams too. I got eaten by a giant pretzel a few days ago Hmm

I'm having trouble finding a position to sleep in though... I used to sleep on my belly all the time but now it is really uncomfortable. I think I might buy one of these pregnancy pillows.

ZylaB · 12/08/2017 16:00

Just threw up in a car park and am now craving KFC 😂

Poochieblue · 12/08/2017 17:14

@zyla threw up last night, then drove to the chippy! You are not alone!!!

In fact the last week has been awful, last Friday I couldn't move without throwing up, Saturday was better but my tea didn't want to stay down :-( then nothing but nausea till yesterday (maybe it's a Friday thing?!)

Have always suffered with pms acne, but my face was so clear till last week and now not only are they back with force, they're also on my neck, shoulders and breasts!

Feeling fed up! :-/

Hi everyone, hope all is well. I'm still the same afraid. I take a half sliced lemon out with me to smell when I feel I'm about to heave (it works). I'm glad I'm not alone with the weird/horror film style dreams either. (Dreamt baby was evil and killed my poor dogConfused - I'm too nervous to look up what that means!).

Anyone else have any unsupportive relatives/inlaws? Saw dp's granny yesterday... she wondered why I didn't have a bump yet (I'm 9 weeks),warned me that I could well have this nausea for the whole pregnancy and if that wasn't enough... informed me of a recent story of another woman having a stillbirth and how you are never out of the woods with pregnancy! Hmm I was mortified and so hurt that she actually said all this to me! Blush

Flatwhite31 · 12/08/2017 20:06

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear so many of you are suffering. I'm nauseous this evening, but I think the heavy duty antibiotics are partially responsible. The abscess isn't improving at all (it's actually getting worse and more painful) and I'm really worried I'm going to have to go into hospital to get it sorted. Total nightmare when pregnant.

Bluebell93 · 12/08/2017 20:18

@Flatwhite31 that sounds horrible, hopefully the antibiotics will work soon - sometimes they take a few days don't they?

I've also been having awful dreams. They're mostly about work as I've been off this past week but I've always done something wrong and everyone has a go at me!

Had my booking appointment yesterday, my midwife seems lovely. Just have to wait for my 12 week scan appointment to come through now.

@Onceuponamama my mum always says the wrong thing, although definitely not as insensitive as you've had - things like 'If you feel bad now it'll only get worse' and 'pregnancy insomnia is a way of preparing you for life with a newborn' - not when I'm only 8 weeks it's not! 😡 My in-laws on the other hand are lovely, which upsets me even more that my own family can't be...

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 12/08/2017 20:59

@Onceuponamama sorry that you've got unsupportive relatives, I'm sure some people engage their mouth before their brain!

When I was pregnant with my first I had a relative tell me that everyone thinks they get a baby at the end of their pregnancy but they don't, some babies die and you never see it coming HmmShock

She had history of late miscarriage In her younger days (was early 50s at the time) but I was still absolutely shocked that someone would come out with that, to a nervous pregnant lady!

FuzzyOwl · 12/08/2017 21:26

I had the first KFC I have had in a couple of years the day before I found out I was pregnant Zyla. I just needed to have one! Clearly KFC and pregnancy cravings go together. Grin

I've been using my pregnancy pillow already as well but since I am also often sharing a bed with my toddler, poor DH is getting rather squashed!

1000jobstodo · 12/08/2017 21:37

Is anyone else struggling with bloating? I'm the same size today that I was with my first at 6 months.
I just keep getting awful cramps then (tmi sorry) some wind but it's not going down. My skin is itchy from stretching.
I've not even noticed nausea for the last two days because of this.
Anyone got any tips? Is this normal?

SS81C · 13/08/2017 00:54

@1000jobstodo I've been the same....so bloated....im on nights this weekend which makes it worse too. I'm fairly sure random bowel things are normal....its all the hormones.

1000jobstodo · 13/08/2017 08:14

Glad I'm not the only one, although sorry you're suffering! Stomach is less bloated this morning which is a bonus.
Hope you're feeling ok (ish) on nights. That must be absolutely horrendous

BlueeSpottyTiger · 13/08/2017 09:35

1000 im so bloated too! I look about 4 months gone! My mum mentioned it the other day.. 🖒Thanks mum. I don't think it helps once you've already had a baby as your stomach is pretty much never the same again is it 🙈lol

scottishem · 13/08/2017 10:22

@1000jobstodo I'm seriously bloated too. Look like I'm 4 months in already and this is my first. Gave in the other day and bought myself a maternity pencil skirt for work as couldn't take the tightness anylonger. I think a pair of maternity jeans will be next on the list! Already had to do the hairband trick Hmm

hometownunicorn · 13/08/2017 13:24

I'm really bloated too, it's so annoying isn't it? I'm hoping that if I just wear loose fitting tops nobody will notice, although at this stage last time (just before I miscarried) DP was telling me that I was starting to look pregnant.

Onceuponamama · 13/08/2017 14:33

sally There should definitely be a 'things not to say to pregnant women' book!

1000jobs I'll be getting maternity jeans soon too. My mum made a good point in that I'll need to get them eventually so I may aswell get them now and be comfy for longer!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!

Excited1203 · 13/08/2017 15:40

@NWWH - sounds great, I'm sure she'll be thrilled.

@OrangeCloud - that sounds much better, I hope you're one of those happy cases who only has sickness in first trimester.

I'm bloated too. My stomach feels quite taut and it's definitely much larger than usual. It looks more like I've eaten 5 dinners and a tub of ice cream than pregnant. Some clothes don't fit, but looser dresses are fine. I've actually lost a couple of pounds, which given the ongoing constipation could be more, but I had it to lose and some frantic googling seems to suggest that's ok in first trimester, it's only third trimester where weight gain is needed.

The insanely inappropriate relatives sound awful. Everybody knows of terrible cases where someone loses a baby, it's just not appropriate to remind a pregnant woman of that. It's not like it's helpful advice e.g. "don't eat raw fish because".

ZylaB · 13/08/2017 15:54

Been shattered all weekend and queasy if not eating, DH has been wonderful, he's chasing around after our two and a half year old. I've gone to the farm park yesterday and swimming today but sat and watched and just been there while he has done all the work. I'm currently sitting in bed watching tv with a fan on me after being told to relax. Bless him!

SheSaidHeSaid · 13/08/2017 18:18

So, I think my symptoms are definitely tapering off and I'm going to take that as being because I'm just over 10 weeks (10+3) so nearing the end of the first trimester rather than being anything sinister. I don't feel as sick as often, it is just when I get hungry, I get less weird dreams and am feeling less drained in general although I'm still waking up so early in the morning which is making me tired but its a different kind of tired to before.

I'm now hugely on countdown till the 25th when I have my 12 week scan so that I feel pregnant again! I can't wait till we start to get 12 week scans in this group which shouldn't be long now.
