Morning everyone! Just over an hour until my booking appointment!

@Doublegloucester I'm also really bloated, especially in the evenings.

My daily walks have fallen by the wayside the last two days, mainly because the weather has been so rubbish! It's honestly like Autumn out there today.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 09/08/2017 10:23

Just had my booking appointment.. i was sick in the waiting room! 🙈 mw concerned im struggling to keep down fluids
Classed as high risk as i though i would be due to p.e in my last pregnancy.. so have to have consultant appointments for my plan or care and in later of will need to go for a check up every 2 weeks.
Been advised no sex until out of 1st trimester due to that potentially causing the bleeding i keep having.
My 12 week scan booked for the 30th of August the day before I go on holiday which I'm happy about when I'll be 11+5.
Goodluck for yours flatwhite xx

hometownunicorn · 09/08/2017 10:49

blue being sick in the waiting room sounds nasty! I hope the sickness lifts soon for you. Good that you have your scan booked too.

Hope your booking appointment goes well flat white Its miserable out there isn't it? I haven't wanted to go out either.

Mine is booked for 3 weeks when I'll be 10 weeks. Past the point where I lost the last one so I'm hoping I make it that far.

ZylaB · 09/08/2017 10:59

Just had a scan at hospital. Seen our little bean with a heartbeat measuring bang on my dates of 8+6! Nonpic though as the consultant did it and it was just a quick reassurance scan.

I'm now past when I miscarried first time and when the baby dies last time so everything crossed we will be ok now!! Booking harmony scan and test for just after 10weeks and dating scan is booked for 6th September (4 weeks time...it's going so slowly!!)

Minervamouse77 · 09/08/2017 11:13

Hi ladies, can I join the club?
I've been lurking in the background for a few weeks because my pregnancy isn't planned and it took a while for me and DP to get our heads around it. We're really happy about it now and I've now had my booking in appointment and told my parents so it's all got very real. I'm 40yrs old and this is my first pregnancy so am filled with every emotion going.
I think one of my challenges has been I'm not having too many major symptom (very lucky I know!). I've had no nausea, just a few light craps, sore boobs, and have phases of being very bloated, so it's been hard to believe I was pregnant at all. I'm now feeling more tired but I've had a stressful year due to a bearevement so to start with the tiredness wasn't much worse than the tiredness I'd experienced because of that. I'm due on 4th march according to an early scan I had (after a bit of bleeding), even after seeing the little bean and its heartbeat it still didn't feel real, it was like I was watching something completely detached from reality. Has anyone else felt like that?

I told my parents and extended family yesterday, they are thrilled. I'm my mums only chance of having grandchildren and I think she'd given up on me knowing I'm career driven and had reached 40 without even trying to have any children myself. DP's parents have 9 GC already but they are also thrilled at knowing no 10 is on the way.

At my early scan they found an ovarian cyst so I'm being referred to a consultant, are they normal in 🤰? Im also being referred for physiotherapy because I've got chronic back pain and I know it will help later on in this journey.

Looking forward to getting to know you all over the following months!

Bluebell93 · 09/08/2017 11:46

Scan went well, dated at 8+1 which is two days ahead of the date per my LMP.

I really needed to pee though so couldn't concentrate on it much, she asked for me to empty half my bladder but even then it was mostly my bladder on the screen Blush!

@Minervamouse77 Congratulations! They found a cyst on my right ovary at my scan today - it measured 4.7cm which seems massive as the baby is only 1.65cm! They said it was nothing to worry about though and should shrink down to nothing by the time of my 12 week scan.

Drs and then midwife booking appointment on Friday so it's all happening this week.

Hope all those feeling rough are having a better day today, despite the weather!

FuzzyOwl · 09/08/2017 12:00

Welcome and congratulations Minervamouse77

Great news on the scans Zyla and Bluebell.

I just feel tired and cold today. Booking in appointment isn't until next week and time just seems to be going so slowly at the moment.

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 12:35

So lovely to hear about all these positive scans :)

After struggling to eat most of last week I'm suddenly wanting eat everything today. I just had a bowl of soup and feel like I could eat it again. Maybe I will. Is that bad??

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 12:36

oh and welcome minerva and congrats! i haven't had loads of symptoms either but haven't had a scan yet - hopefully next week.

scottishem · 09/08/2017 12:57

So after struggling with 24 hour nausea and sickness 8+ times a day from week 5 (currently 8 weeks) I've booked myself in for an appointment with GP this evening to get some medication to help. Feeling a little defeated but time to accept this is a bit more than normal morning sickness Sad went last week but after urine test came back ok kind of got papped off with no further appointment or help.
Booking in appointment isn't for another 2 weeks feel like times standing still this last week.
So glad everyones having positive scans, I've got a private scan next Sunday as my first NHS scan isn't until I'm 13+6!

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 13:19

@scottishem oh poor you :( that sounds horrible. Hope the medication helps

scottishem · 09/08/2017 13:23

Thanks @whyhastherumgone
Curious as to whether anyone on here has had much success with medication??

Flatwhite31 · 09/08/2017 13:50

Hi everyone! Oh poor you being sick in the waiting room @BlueeSpottyTiger! I'm also going to be consultant led due to previous history of heart arrhythmia which could re-surface as the pregnancy begins to put more strain on my body.

Booking appointment was fine! Midwife was really nice. Blood pressure was great, BMI was 19, urine was clear and the midwife took some bloods. There was a trainee GP in there too who was helpful when I was describing the heart arrhythmia to the midwife! My 12 week scan is 2 weeks today when I'll be 12 weeks exactly. I'm already nervous!

Flatwhite31 · 09/08/2017 13:52

Meant to say @scottishem that sickness sounds awful. You've definitely made the right decision booking a GP appointment. I hope he/she is sympathetic and can help.

Btw, I'm also Scottish but live in England Smile.

OrangeCloud18 · 09/08/2017 13:52

scottishem I have hyperemesis, was admitted to hospital over a week ago for 24hrs. Now still at home, not back at work. I have been given cyclizine but I threw it up almost every time. I am now on stemetil, I have only tried it once so far as it came back through my nose and it was nasty Blush

So far, the only way I manage is by staying in bed until about 12, then eating half a cracker to get to the kitchen to get some food (prepared the day before). Then I go back to bed where I eat and watch tv/read for about an hour with ny sick bucket next to me. If it is a good day, I can then do a few things around the house. If not, I set camp in my bathroom for the day.

Nausea and vomiting is horrible... My blood pressure is really low and I bought some sticks to check my ketones once or twice a day as I had ketosis when I was admitted.

One thing which is really helping is 'grenadine syrup' (it's French but can be found in waitrose or sainsbury's). You put a bit at bottom of glass and fill with water. It is really good and sugary for when I can only keep liquids down.

Stuckinstressville · 09/08/2017 14:25

So many with hg! Poor things!

Scoobygang7 · 09/08/2017 16:24

@Minervamouse77 welcome and congratulations.

@Sallywiththegoodhurrr wow congratulations on the twins.

Same old here feel like I am about to keel over from nausea and exhaustion. Have no patience for my poor lb and keep losing me temper with him. Feel like an awful mummy. I can't wait to start feeling normal again.

pusscous · 09/08/2017 16:32

Congratulations Sally, that's amazing and I bet a bit of an initial shock.

Sorry to hear of all the people suffering from sickness and nausea; I am too but this week, not too bad so far, afternoon are always worse for me and the kitchen bin is the trigger, so waste is being left on the side 😳😷

I had my appointment with an ob on Monday, I was going to update by was in tears afterwards and took until Tuesday pm to feel more resilent again. The dr herself was nasty, rude and aggressive, questioning and critiquing every choice of my previous birth in a demeaning manner; "oh that's nonsense" "WHO would do, that? " A very belittling experience and disappointing seeing as I had to pay a lot to see her (it's holiday season and most English speaking OBs are on holiday). Yes I live abroad, continental Europe. There was a heart beat, but it was slow and the size of the baby was small and didn't match my dates- my lmp was 1st June and probably conceived by the end of the month (long cycle) and had a positive on 14th July. On the appointment I was 9+4 maybe a bit less given long cycles. But ob thought I was maybe at a push 5 weeks, and too early to date and to think about 12 week scans. I need to get the scan booked soon, have had blood work done, she asked for me back in 10'days to check progress, but no appointment until 2 weeks, so I've changed drs already and might do again when the rest come back in September. I just want to go back to California where I had my first child. Not at all positive

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 16:41

@pusscous that sounds like a terrible experience, I am so sorry you had to go through it. She doesn't sound nice or compassionate at all. I am livid on your behalf that you were made to feel like that and left in tears. That's not how it should be at all!

So she's saying your dates are really out from what you thought? :(
I really hope your dates are just out/scan wasn't very clear.

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 16:42

And yes so much sympathy to everyone with HG and bad sickness. I was stop complaining about my lack of it, sorry Blush

Scoobygang7 · 09/08/2017 16:52

@pusscous that's awful of the ob definitely if you can change drs. I hope you're feeling somewhat better. She definitely needs to improve her bedside manner.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 09/08/2017 17:10

Orange aww bless 🤢😢 & scottish hope your okay.. oh wow! That's just on the cusp of the cut off point for the combined test, don't know if your having it or not x
.... I have it too My midwife said that today.. but dr said yesterday they can't say for certain in the 1st trimester? She did seem alittle unsure as she had to pop out and ask another dr for advice about something else.
Had to be checked for dehydration last night, I'm okay atm. Couldn't hold any liquid/food down yesterday for 8 hours. Then I managed some chicken nuggets and cranberry and that was it and then i went bed. Not been able to hold anything down atall yet today but a glass of cranberry. I'm a shaking mess.. mw said if it continues and I can't hold down more than 500ml I'll have to go in for IV antisickness and fluids.

zyla & bluebell great news on the scans!! 🤗
Minerva welcome welcome 👋
pusscous oh how confusing. Hope everything is okay!
whyhasalltherumgone don't worry... I would be the same if I didn't have it hehe x

Xx

OrangeCloud18 · 09/08/2017 17:42

Bluee Go on pregnancy sickness support website. It is full of advice and really helpful, from advice for partners to when you should brush your teeth with hyperemesis.
You can definitely tell in the first semester if someone has hyperemesis. I'm lucky that one of the GP at my surgery is being really lovely and suppportive (and they are accross the road). When I have a bad day, I call them and I can go in for them to check my blood pressure, my heart rate, etc and I monitor intake of fluids and test urine at home for ketones so I know when to go in for IV before it gets too bad (and I scare OH to death like last time).

banana101 · 09/08/2017 18:10

Hello all,

I am a lurking newbie on the board. I'm 41 and this will be my third (and final!) child. I have two DS aged 3.4 and 16 months. Still getting my head around how exactly I'm going to cope with 3 under 5 but hey! Hmm

My EDD is 17th March. I had my booking in appointment today which is starting to make things feel real. Surviving on carbs and very few actual proper nutrients at the moment.

Sympathy and solidarity with those feeling nauseous/sick. Roll on the second trimester when we will all be glowing.... Grin

SunyBay · 09/08/2017 18:16

@Minerva - welcome. I'm similar to you. A bit younger, but also feeling slightly surreal about it all. Not many symptoms (luckily no nausea! - my mum didn't have any either, so I'm hoping I'm going to take after her pregnancy).
