@WhyTheHeckMe - I had one with my first pregnancy (and she is now 2). It caused bleeding from 4-9 weeks with one incidence of scarily heavy bleeding (think 10xworse than a period) I was told no sex and no exercise beyond walking and swimming until 16weeks.
The fact it is on the other side to the baby is good. Essentially no harm to the baby but can cause miscarriage if it's in the same area as the baby is "washed away" if that makes sense. But I am trying to reassure. If you bleed don't panic, it will probably mostly be absorbed. And as I said I had a totally normal pregnancy in the end and all was fine Smile

boatrace30 · 02/09/2017 21:38

@LivLemler - I've had both and really the internal is not that bad. Bout if you've a full bladder external will likely be fine at 8weeks (but could depend on your uterus position)

starsshinebright · 02/09/2017 21:59

Anyone else feeling a bit rounder round the middle? I'm 9+3 and my jeans are feeling slightly tighter!

starsshinebright · 02/09/2017 22:00

I had an external and internal at 8 weeks. Both were fine! Internal a lot more clear and could get more precise measurements and wasn't painful in the slightest.

Thelostsock · 02/09/2017 23:04

@starsshinebright yes everything is definitely getting tighter and towards the end of the day I have noticeable bloat. My friend is 16 weeks and barely has a bump ... however she also has an impressive 6 pack so I think that makes a huge difference!

I was just searching maternity clothes and wondering when to start buying some. Wouldn't want to get any till after the 12 week scan but really think I'll need the stretch by then

fitbitbore · 02/09/2017 23:16

@WhyTheHeckMe I had sub chorionic H last pregnancy. I bleed from 5-12 weeks sometimes really heavy but the baby was fine! Just rest and take it easy!!!

boatrace30 · 03/09/2017 07:53

@Thelostsock - last time I didn't really get any maternity clothes till 14/15 weeks but felt I needed them sooner! A could idea might be to get some comfy clothes (leggings etc) in a size up from your usual as these will be useful after birth as well. I never considered how my body wouldn't go back to normal within days of having my daughter and ended up having to buy a whole load of post maternity clothes in a size up from what I normally am.

harrietm87 · 03/09/2017 08:01

I'm only 8+3 but feel SO fat - already can't fit into my normal jeans and wearing my "fat jeans" argh. It's not bump it's just fat and bloat!

Aspenn17 · 03/09/2017 08:18

Hi all,

Congrats on all of your scans! Quick question, mine is on Monday first thing so I can't call the place and ask as they are closed today, do I have to go with a full bladder? I'll be 7+4 so presuming it's going to be an internal scan, they haven't told me any info like that though?

olicat · 03/09/2017 09:15

aspen I went yday at 7+0 and external was fine - Just drank a pint of eater beforehand. I was prepared for an internal but think my womb is fairly far forward so saw everything straight away. What will happen is if they can't see clearly with the external they'll make you go for a wee and then get the wand out 😊

olicat · 03/09/2017 09:15

Pint of water that should have said!

Thelostsock · 03/09/2017 09:50

Thanks @boatrace30 that's really good advice! I'll take myself off for a shop I think and see if I can find a pair of trousers that would do for work too as that would definitely save a shop. Thanks Smile

Sunshinesaz86 · 03/09/2017 10:09

Is it your scan today starshine? Good luck let us know how it goes.

Yes agreed aspen I was advised to drink a pint of water 30 mins to an hr before hand and we had no troubles tho a couple of weeks further along.

My bloat is crazy I'm already wearing one maternity pair of jeans my usual ones just don't fit. Have a look on the sale websites too sometimes you can get great deals on mat clothes x

Sunshinesaz86 · 03/09/2017 10:15

shnaffle sorry only just saw your post. I think at this stage they can get the dates wrong as it's so small. Also sometimes surely it depends on ov/implantation etc so days will vary from time to time. Seeing a heartbeat is good, the sonographer wouldn't tell me whether our HB was the right speed etc as 'that's not what they do' so try not to worry to much. (Easier said than dome I know).

What's the ramzi theory? I've never heard of it? X

Sam91TRS15 · 03/09/2017 10:19

I have so much bloat and am already in maternity tops, waiting for maternity jeans and shorts to get delivered! There is still some sale stuff going about. I used happymamaboutique recently for clothes - quick del, they missed one item but replied straight away saying they were sending out the item straight away. The clothes are really well priced and the material is nice. Have a weird packaging smell but easily washes out if anyone is looking for some Matty stuff!

Poppyandpeaches · 03/09/2017 10:35

@whytheheck I had it first time around - could see a big black bit next to the baby on early scans. Had bleeding 4-9 weeks and then it stopped by itself and everything was fine. Was also told no sex or exercise. If you're anywhere near as queasy as me that won't be much of a sacrifice!

abigailgabble · 03/09/2017 10:57

@LivLemler I had an internal. Honestly nothing to worry about! And believe ,me.. come April 2018 every shred of dignity/modesty will be gone and you won give a monkeys Grin

Poppyandpeaches · 03/09/2017 11:53

Oh and a tip I was given for mat clothes was to buy a cheap strap top, cut it in half so it's like a band for going around your middle, then wear your normal jeans unbuttoned and use the "band" to hold them up. Should bridge the gap between normal jeans not fitting and maternity jeans being a bit big - I am going to try it this week!

MissYeti · 03/09/2017 11:59

Well it's been 3 days since the morning sickness started and today it feels pretty much non existent today...is it normal for it to switch on and off randomly?

Poppyandpeaches · 03/09/2017 12:24

@missyeti I feel so much better when I am rested, and sick as a dog when I'm tired. Maybe you just feel better for having a rest at the weekend?

MissYeti · 03/09/2017 12:38

poppy I've slept so much the last few days it's ridiculous! Hoping it's that and not an ominous sign :(

Will find out for sure tomorrow, scan will tell all!

Poppyandpeaches · 03/09/2017 14:00

Fingers crossed @Missyeti it's so stressful!

boatrace30 · 03/09/2017 14:36

I agree with @Poppyandpeaches, I definitely feel better when less tired.

starsshinebright · 03/09/2017 16:00

Scan went well! Managed to see the baby in 4D.

MrsDneedsaB · 03/09/2017 16:15

Wow @starsshine I didn't realise they could do 4D scans this early! I'm looking forward to getting on done around the 30 week mark and you can see a little squishy face ☺️

I have just caved and got some maternity trousers, I had been doing the hair tie trick with my old jeans but it was so obvious under my tops. I got a pair of jeans and some jersey trousers from ASOS that I can get away with wearing at work.

Feeling very autumnal today! In the mood for a hot chocolate and watching You've Got Mail 😬
