@kdshapton - you sound exactly like me except I only have one dc. So all credit to you!

Merowdiff · 29/08/2017 21:42

Oh wow everyone! So nice to see your scan pics! 🤗

Crapbags · 29/08/2017 21:54

@itsgoingtoofast how old are your other DC's? I'm on my third pregnancy too and feel this is the worst yet but I am thinking it may just be that I'm feeling crap and having to deal with two kids which is making it seem worse!? I'm 9+2 so pretty similar to you

SinkyMalinks · 29/08/2017 21:55

jammyc it'll all coming me flooding back, right? Confused

I'm another who feels ok in the morning but gets more bloated and sick though the day. Worst is the insomnia though. I think I blanked it out from last time, but I'm waking constantly though the night (and only once to wee) and then really struggling to drop off again.

I've not told work yet. It's all a bit awkward with a new job, not yet signed contract, don't really know duration of contract etc... great timing by me...

itsgoingtoofast · 29/08/2017 22:08

@Crapbags they are (just turned) 4 and almost 6. It's an absolute killer. Their bedtimes at getting later as I just physically can't do it, I have to wait for DH to come home from work. They are getting more time than I would normally be happy with on their various devices, but it's about survival for me at the moment. They are fairly pleased with the current set up I would say, but I feel so guilty! Maybe you are right and it is just that life is so full on anyway with little rest that we feel worse?

@SinkyMalinks I have had insomnia for the past few weeks too, that's usually one of my first symptoms of pregnancy. It's a strange (& infuriating!) one.

Poppyandpeaches · 29/08/2017 22:13

@jammyc I told my boss confidentially at 5 weeks, won't tell everyone until 12. It's made it a lot easier if I've not been feeling well etc and they have a duty of care to make sure you and bump are safe

Crapbags · 30/08/2017 07:32

@itsgoingtofast mine are just about to turn 4 (Sept) and 6! And I echo everything you said mine are also eating way more junk/convenience food as I just can't find the enthusiasm/energy to cook eitherBlush

@sinkyMalinks also got the insomnia here, I wake to pee and then have so much trouble getting back to sleep and just seem to have short snippets of sleep till morning

olicat · 30/08/2017 07:38

Cor blimey I feel weird. Had to stay home yesterday as woke up with horrible stomach/kidney pains. Went to doctor and he was mystified. I then woke up in the night literally 10 times and had to get a drink each time! Without weeing! I even started dreaming about going to get water. Have woken up feeling a lot better. Put thirst as a symptom into ovia and it said that apparently we need loads of extra water to make amniotic fluid so that's why you can be thirsty in the early days! Sorry for the ramble, my mind is just slightly blown by the weird and wonderful things pregnancy does to us. Hope everyone has a good day!

MissYeti · 30/08/2017 08:11

@olicat apparently excessive thirst can be a sign of gestational diabetes too so you might want to mention it to your midwife if it keeps up

Thecomfortador · 30/08/2017 08:15

I haven't started new job yet, still awaiting confirmation of references...no idea whether to tell them sooner rather than later. But then I'd rather have a couple of months of being paid rather than them finding a reason to not have me in the first place. Probation is 6 months so they could quite easily let me go any time before baby arrives.

Interesting about needing more drinks. I get very dry in the night (ds has taken to being awake around 3.00 just for fun. 20 month sleep regression?)

olicat · 30/08/2017 08:22

Thanks yeti, yeah I did think that. I don't fall into any of the usual risk categories but I'll keep an eye on it and mention to midwife.

comfort sorry to hear about your 3am get ups!!

Thecomfortador · 30/08/2017 09:47

I suppose it's just good practice olicat ha ha

starsshinebright · 30/08/2017 11:45

I've got my midwife appointment at 3.30, 9 weeks exactly today!

bondbaby · 30/08/2017 12:43

Hi all, just after some advice/support please (anxious first timer here!). I think I'm 8 weeks today, very few symptoms so far other than bad skin and painful boobs. I mean REALLY painful, rock hard and extremely sensitive to touch. Woke up this morning and they've totally changed, almost back to normal size and much less tender. Should I be concerned at this sudden change? No bleeding/cramping etc, but it just feels weird to me. Also, finally had a letter about my booking appointment and it's not for ages-I'll be 11wks when it comes around-seems quite late? I know I'm probably overthinking things but its so hard to not be worrying all the time!

Thelostsock · 30/08/2017 13:07

@olicat me too and couldn't work out how I'm drinking sooo much but not weeing it out, that makes sense if it's going into the amniotic sack. Although at the rate I'm drinking I'd look 9 months pregnant by now!

MrsDneedsaB · 30/08/2017 13:10

Hi bondbaby firstly congrats on your bfp.

You may just be one of the lucky ones that has little to no symptoms, although I think that everyone gets symptoms but they can so easily be written off as something else you can think you have none.

As for the sore boobs, they really can fluctuate that radically that one day you feel completely normal! I would only start to worry if it's been more than a few days and no other symptoms have reared their ugly heads.

Boobs going back to normal was one of the first indicators of my MMC last year that and my nails went soft again but it wasnt until they had been feeling fine for more than a week that I started to panic.

Best of luck to you and hoping you have a sticky bean!!

MrsDneedsaB · 30/08/2017 13:22

Ooh good luck @starsshinebright with your midwife appointment! I've got mine on Friday.

I have a feeling I'm just going to be one of those people that constantly bleeds in pregnancy 😒 I had another bleed Saturday night and have woken up this morning to more blood. I called EPU and they said that if I had a good scan Saturday afternoon I shouldn't worry as much but to ring them back if it got worse.

I wish people told you that bleeding red blood in pregnancy is just as normal as a little bit of spotting - I just wish I knew why!! Although have heard UTIs can make you bleed and I have a sneaking suspicion I might have one.

Still got sore boobs and slight nausea though so I'm hoping I'm ok.

Hope everyone is well today Smile

olicat · 30/08/2017 15:21

mrsd sorry to hear that, it would be so nice if the EPUs could scan at the drop of a hat (although obv understand why they can't). Hope the bleeding stops soon.

Have had to work from home today as feel rough - I suspect this might be the beginning of a few weeks of it so might have to tell my manager tomorrow as really don't want her to think I'm slacking! She is preg herself so hoping she will be understanding (Although not ideal timing with 2 in the same team being up the duff!) I see poppy told her boss early so not the only one.

itsgoingtoofast · 30/08/2017 17:18

@Crapbags lovely to hear we are in a similar position. Hopefully our children will forgive us one day

Hope your midwife appointment went well @starsshinebright! I had mine today, it took an age Blush Have a bit of a story to tell with previous pregnancies. I laughed out loud when i saw all my notes getting pulled out of the box! Anyway, the midwife was so lovely and so supportive and has recommended I have consultant led care again which I am very happy with. I am feeling very well looked after already

Thelostsock · 30/08/2017 19:09

Has anyone else got to 10 weeks and found symptoms have all gone? Other than tiredness and thirst I've noticed my nausea and sickness, sore boobs and extreme exhaustion has gone. I've also got my appetite back and seem to be less hormonal. Obviously trying not to get worried but would be good to know if anyone else has felt a let up at this stage?

fitbitbore · 30/08/2017 19:29

@Thelostsock I'm ten weeks an exactly the same!!! Still a bit tired but not feeling rough and feel pretty normal. The calm before the storm possibly. Try not to get stressed or worry if something goes wrong in a pregnancy there is nothing we can do to prevent it and it's just bad luck!!!! I think the placenta starts to work around this stage so could be an explanation?!?!?

boatrace30 · 30/08/2017 22:09

I've looked at my notes from First pregnancy and everything got easier at 10weeks. I think it's a normal time for symptoms to ease off. Enjoy it!

Bumpkin21 · 30/08/2017 22:14

Ah thank goodness, I've been really worrying about the fact I'm feeling better! I even fancied a coffee today which I haven't been able to look at in 2 months! Still feel queasy occasionally, once or twice a day, but not bad at all, and tiredness sometimes gets me but feeling 100x better than a few weeks ago! Really hoping it's because the placenta is starting to work. I'm going for a reassurance scan next week anyway (also because I want a pic for when I tell my family the week after! :) )

Thelostsock · 31/08/2017 06:52

Phew, I feel immediately better knowing others are the same! Loving this group! Have just been reading that the thirst will continue as we increase our blood volume and the weight gain should start now too, looking forward to getting a bump - better start moisturising Smile

crispydumpling · 31/08/2017 09:20

sorry I've not been around much, had lots of family stuff on.

I've got evening sickness rather than morning sickness too @kdshapton - it's weird! I feel fine until lunchtime then gradually feel more sick until bedtime. I've only been sick a few times which is a big improvement from my last pregnancy. I don't really have any other symptoms apart from tiredness and lots of spots so I spend most mornings feeling panicky as I don't really feel pregnant.

I had my midwife appointment last week and have just had 3 texts from my doctors saying my blood tests are normal. Just waiting to get a dating scan appointment now.
