Hi newbies! Nothing too eventful here, experienced some heart palpitations this week which wasn't too fun so keeping an eye on them before I report to mw.

I'm starting to really feel it now, backaches towards the end of most days and just getting more tired!
RE sleeping, I'm a back sleeper though an through, so use the maternity pillow to wedge my back. Not sure it's the best but I really cannot sleep on my sides 😩

Mrsbluebell17 · 03/09/2017 02:26

Hey @tuxedocat! When you say wedge your back, do you mean put you at a slight angle? That's how I try and end up at best but I literally roll flat onto my back alllllll the time when I'm sleep and wake up like that every time! Frustrating! I seem to wriggle my humongous pillow out of the way, somehow!

Mrsbluebell17 · 03/09/2017 02:27

Welcome newbies 👋🏼

Miami81 · 03/09/2017 07:17

Tuxedo
This is what I have been doing too. I can't sleep fully on my side, I get pins and needles. So yes, either on one side sleeping into the pillow (DH wonders how I can sleep tucked into a pillow like that when he literally isn't allowed touch me with a big toe when I am sleeping), or on the other side with my pillow firmly wedged into my back so that I sleep on a tilt.

tuxedocat · 03/09/2017 09:43

miami bluebell exactly that! I've tried sleeping with it between my legs and the end behind my back but I just aaaache!! So I've resorted to just lifting up one side so I'm not flat but I always wake up without the pillow and aching. Im hoping the bigger I get my body will learn to sleep on its side as it's bloody annoying!

How are we all doing? I can't believe we are almost at 3rd tri soon!

ScotsLamb · 03/09/2017 11:03

I'm hoping my body works out sleeping as well. It manages ok during the week but not at the weekends.
24 weeks today. Yay! Feel like it's not long to go (even though it could be 18 weeks). Also means Christmas countdown can start!

fishfingerSarnies · 03/09/2017 13:05

Hey wobbly I haven't got mine booked yet they don't book a date until your 26 weeks but I've been told I will probably have it done on my due date my last section was on my due date too. I'm due 20th would much rather be done at 39 weeks so I'm not so close to xmas but don't think I will et much choice in the matter.

SushiNushi · 04/09/2017 17:42

scotslamb that's a shame about hypnobirthing. Evening classes tend to end at 10 around here (south west England) so if it's the same up there you'd be home pretty late. Maybe try a book and audio to accompany it? My friend did just that and said it really helped her labour.

Re. Muscles, my midwife noticed it. When she pointed it out I realised of had symptoms I'd just not recognised. If I try to use my stomach muscles eg. When sitting up, my bump temporarily makes a slight done shape. I also have some lower back pain, particularly when lying on my back on a hard surface (oh hols now and sunbeds not my friend...). This is because I essentially have no core muscles so my back is taking the strain. Keep an eye out for the same and tell you're midwife if you're concerned, as you might need physio like me.

Brens I've not been on Facebook for a while, but have a feeling I'm going to have to get back on there for baby groups etc...

ScotsLamb · 04/09/2017 20:13

Mine makes a dime shape!! I'm not seeing her for another 4 weeks so I'll keep an eye on it until then.

ScotsLamb · 04/09/2017 20:13

Dome!!!

tuxedocat · 04/09/2017 20:40

The dome shape is sooo weird! always makes me laugh and reminds me of the cone heads when it gets into that shape!

SushiNushi · 06/09/2017 07:36

Sounds like you might have it too then scotslamb!

tuxedocat · 06/09/2017 14:29

I'm not sure if I'm started to suffer with SPD or PGP 😩 I've got a niggling achy pain in my pelvis and down my thighs. Anyone else getting any kind of back pain? It's lower back Sad

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 06/09/2017 16:41

Hello ladies - long time no speak!

Yes, the dome shape is absolutely classic of diastasis recti (ab split). I've had it too for the last 2 months. Have had to change my workouts to strengthen my transverse abdominals (core strength - think pelvic floor exercises) without further straining or overdeveloping my outer abs to try and minimise any further split. Basically, from this point on, any further development of your outer abs will just pull them further apart. Ideally you want to try and avoid the split becoming more than 2 fingers wide. There are a number of FB groups I've found useful for this, plus doing Physio-led pilates classes.

Also, make sure you roll onto your side before leaning back or sitting up, ladies.

Annie1290 · 06/09/2017 19:15

Yes tuxedo, mine was mostly in my lower back and slightly in groin. Have cut down strenuous work and saw a chiropractor which has done wonders and is so improved. Pillow between knees (or two if flat pillows!) has helped the groin pain.

tuxedocat · 06/09/2017 19:55

Thanks annie I plan to cut my workouts down and hope that with easing off will help but will mention it at my 28w appt

In regards to the abs split - the dome is a very common shape as everyone has a gap in their abs so don't be alarmed like I was! It's all about how far the split is which you can measure. Did cause me a mild panic when I first googled Blush

Mrsbluebell17 · 10/09/2017 06:23

Morning everyone. How are you all doing? Any interesting milestones or updates to share? I am still learning every day!

ScotsLamb · 10/09/2017 08:10

Hi Bluebell
Week 25 today. Still struggling with sleep as my side and back get sore so I wake up. Teeny is pretty active in the morning and at night. I'm sure I felt bone attacking me yesterday.
3 weeks until next midwife appointment.
14 weeks left of work.
Counting down now but time is going fast.

Mrsbluebell17 · 10/09/2017 09:45

Hey @ScotsLamb I'm feeling very similar, sleep is still a challenge but movements have got stronger. I love the movements as they are reassuring.
I've also started counting down now too which makes it very exciting!

tuxedocat · 10/09/2017 19:23

Hi ladies, 27w here. Sleeping is awful at the moment. I think I might be getting SPD or pelvic girdle pain cos my pelvis and back hurt!

Mrsbluebell17 · 15/09/2017 02:48

Hey @tuxedocat how are the pains now, have you been diagnosed with spd? Sounds horrific. Hope you are sleeping better.

I still wake a lot in the night (like tonight) and my hips hurt a bit. I also wake really hungry in the night again now, which I used to do in the first trimester.

Thinking of you.

ScotsLamb · 15/09/2017 07:39

My sleep has improved this week. Currently favouring my V shape pillow I got from Aldi.
Only 100 days until due date ☺️

tuxedocat · 16/09/2017 20:03

Hi @bluebell! The pains were awful for a free days so I've stopped the treadmill at the gym and I've managed to sleep on my side with my legs under my mat pillow which helps! I've not seen my MW since but will mention it. I'm also up 2-3 times a night needing to pee!

How are you all doing?

SushiNushi · 21/09/2017 14:02

I'd like to join the Facebook group! Can someone remind me how?

Brens13 · 21/09/2017 15:43

Sushi If you PM me your email address I can get an invitation sent out to you :)
