Welcome Caroline! I'm not in the Facebook group either yet so I'll be around on here. Sorry to hear you've been so ill.

This might be a topic you've all discussed on Facebook but has anyone done their nursery now or ordered their pram etc?

Can't believe we have people heading into the third trimester now! X

Miami81 · 24/08/2017 03:39

Mrsb
I have started to look at prams. Planning a journey to Glasgow after 24 weeks to the pram centre to check some out. We have literally just been offered a whole nursery set from a friend whose little girl is moving into her big bed etc. So that is amazing, changing unit and wardrobe included.
And one of my friends is going to source some rainbow wall stickers for the room for us.
Oh and we are getting a snuzpod from another friend.
So we are incredibly lucky really.
Pram wise the ones I want to try out are the Phil&teds Mod, the Cybex Balios M and a Muttsy one that gets good reviews. We live in the centre of Edinburgh and I want the pram to be as mobile and practical as possible. Loads of people recommending the uppababy vista to us, but I just wasn't sold on it. Think one of our neighbours has a casatto that they love, so will look at those too. I do love a pattern.
How's the sleep?

Mrsbluebell17 · 24/08/2017 04:38

Miami that's amazing. So lucky. We've had some stuff gifted like a moses and a bouncy chair etc. Sounds like you've got your pram plans mapped out too. They are very pricey so it's hard to make a decision I think.
Sleep is terrible tonight. At first I slept for an hour or so, then lots of short stints. Now I can't sleep at all. Hmm
Are you awake for work or is sleep evading you too?

Miami81 · 24/08/2017 07:16

Mrsb
Oh just the usual unsettled sleep. I am a great sleeper when not pregnant, I really miss it and it gives me the slight dreads of what's to come. But hopefully I won't mind being awake so much when there is a baby to cuddle!
I read this morning til about 5.30 and then slept until now. Banger of a headache now.

ScotsLamb · 24/08/2017 07:42

Some people have their nursery finished on Facebook. I'm waiting on wallpaper being hung in ours. Furniture is being gifted from family members so will come in dribs and drabs. I know the cot is at MiL just now. I was sure it was unlucky for it to be in the house before baby but lots saying otherwise.
I have bought a second hand snuzpod with Sleepyhead.
My parents are buying us the pram, car seat and isofix. Just need to decide which one. We are the opposite to Miami in that we live in the middle of no where on a farm in the Scottish Borders. The silver cross surf 3 concerts from a 4 wheel pram to a 3 wheel pram so I'm really tempted but it can't convert into a double pram if number 2 arrives when number 1 is still using the pram. It's so difficult to decide. We are thinking a visit to Glasgow pram centre (although we have been warned not to buy from them).
My sleep has been ok until last night. My other half did a lot of tossing and turning so it might be that.
How many weeks are we all again?
How are bumps coming along?
I'm 22 weeks and 4 days. Bump is currently wriggling and kicking away. It must know I'm talking about it.

Hi everyone. Congratulations and welcome Caroline

We ordered our nursery furniture and wallpaper on Sunday. My parents have been amazing and out the blue offered to take a week off at the end of September to decorate our nursery for us so that's fab! The In-laws have paid for our furniture as well so it's really a room done by the grandparents.

We have our pushchair - the Mamas & Papas Ocarro. It was between that and the Silvercross Pioneer, but there were a couple of feature we preferred on the Ocarro so went for that. My sister has bought that for us so we had a really great day going around all the baby shops in our city trying them all out. Then I took DH the next day and let him pick the colour lol.

Good luck getting your bits together.

xx

Mrsbluebell17 · 24/08/2017 08:25

Scots yeah we've made a good start on our nursery. The cot is in there so I hope it's not bad luck. I've heard it's the pram that's bad luck to have in the house - but it's all down to who you speak to and how superstitious they are I think.
I'm 24 weeks now. Lots of wriggles from bump!

Brens I think we are going with the same pram choice. It just looks so good and ticks all the boxes we set out.
That's so lovely of your parents to do the decorating for you.

Brens13 · 24/08/2017 09:12

Bluebell I love the pram already. I hope that it works out as well as I think it will as it seems perfect for us. Just got to practice putting it up and down now!
It is very kind of my parents - they're great decorators and perfectionists so I know will do a much better job than we could have as well. DH has taken the week off too to help (probably more with drinks provisions lol) so I can just sit back and enjoy the results Smile

fishfingerSarnies · 24/08/2017 09:49

So lovely to hear all your nursery plans and stuff as this is baby number 3 it's getting nothing, no bedroom, no new pram probably not even many new clothes ha poor neglected 3rd child. I do remember that lovely exciting feeling of planning for number one though makes me feel nostalgic.
With this one it's kind of oh shit how can we buy as little as possible and still keep it alive. I really want a sleepy head but can't justify the cost even second hand, hoping someone will offer us a Moses basket or something to borrow, might ask around.
My meds have kicked in and I'm feeling much better now, suddenly wanting to eat the house though. Might have smashed some birthday cake for breakfast (my 31st yesterday)
Desperately need to do some cleaning after spending so long in bed being sick so that's my plan today followed by a trip to the museum.

Brens13 · 24/08/2017 09:51

Happy birthday for yesterday! I have also eaten birthday cake (not mine) for breakfast during the second semester lol, I think it's fine!

Brens13 · 24/08/2017 09:52

trimester lol - not still at school!

SamiZayn · 24/08/2017 18:44

Just checking into say hi everyone! 23+5 today

ScotsLamb · 24/08/2017 19:44

Bluebell lots of chat on the Facebook group wishing you well and missing you over there as very few on Facebook have the time for Facebook and Mumsnet. Just thought I would let you know they are all thinking of you!
I've had a really rubbish day at work, I'm super sleep and can't be bothered with anything.
Hoping tomorrow is a better day although I have my whooping cough jag and I hear it's sore.

Brens13 · 25/08/2017 05:51

scots I had my whooping cough jab on Tues and it didn't hurt at all. Barely felt the needle, and the next day it was only slightly tender when I raised my arm. Hopefully yours will be OK too x

ScotsLamb · 25/08/2017 22:49

Mine was at 4pm today and I've felt nothing until going to bed just now. It's sore to lift but I don't plan to do any lifting in bed. Hopefully it'll be fine in the morning.

tuxedocat · 26/08/2017 08:39

I booked mine in for tues-hoping it's not too bad.
had a right worry these last few days RE reduced movement, think baby has managed to get into a position where I couldn't feel as well. Luckily after sitting down and tallying movements all is ok.

The worrying never stops does it!?

ScotsLamb · 26/08/2017 10:17

Mine is alright. Tender to prod (I've been told just to stop prodding it) but I don't notice it otherwise. I would recommend getting it on the opposite side to the side you sleep on as I rolled over last night and it was sore to lean on.

ScotsLamb · 26/08/2017 10:19

Oh and about the worrying. I woke up last night and rolled onto my back as my side was sore. Baby did lots of kicking. Rolled to my left and baby did lots of kicking. Rolled back to my right and baby stopped all the kicking. I'm now not sure if baby likes my right side so goes to sleep there or if it doesn't like it so stops kicking. Oh the dilemmas.

Miami81 · 26/08/2017 11:26

Scots
My one goes bananas when I am on my right side. Also goes nuts when I try to lie on my back at all!!
So I try left side as she seems calmer there, but it is way more uncomfortable for me.....

ScotsLamb · 27/08/2017 21:45

I know all the science behind lying on my left but I still find it amazing how the movements change so much depending on what side I'm on.
Had very little movements today but some here and there so she (today it is she, yesterday was he) obviously wants to keep us on our toes.

ScotsLamb · 01/09/2017 07:38

How are we all doing?
I've slept properly the last few nights but still knackered. Bump gets sore towards the end of the day but overall I think I'm surprisingly good.

SushiNushi · 01/09/2017 09:19

Hello hello ladies! I've been lurking since I last joined in the chat at about 12 weeks. I'm now almost 27 weeks and feeling huge; I've got water retention and divarication of my stomach muscles, which is making me look bigger than I really am. Has anyone else had this?

Also I've booked hypnobirthing over NCT classes...I can't afford both and hypnobirthing feels more like my cup of tea. Apparently it covers the same as NCT does. Anyone else doing hypnobirthing?

Xxx

ScotsLamb · 02/09/2017 08:31

Welcome!!
I would like to do hypnobirthing as I'm quite a worrier so likely to be quite uptight at birth. Don't think I will manage. It's 45 minutes to the nearest group.
How do you know if the muscles have split?
I'm only 24 weeks and everyone says I'm huge 😕 Feels weird when I spent 1 year trying to lose weight.

WobblyChair · 02/09/2017 09:28

Lurker here due DC3 on 31 December.

Does anyone have their section date yet? I'm 39 weeks on CHRIstmas EVe and because the hospital don't do electives on 24, 25 or 26 December and they're already fully booked on 27 and 28 I'm booked on 29th which is 39+5. I'm going to spend Christmas sat nervously with my legs crossed! My other sections were at 39 weeks.

Brens13 · 02/09/2017 10:36

Hi newbies. Congratulations first of all. We also have a private Facebook group of about 50 of us I think if you'd like to join, it's very active so not many get a chance to check back here. If you'd like to then just pm me your email address and I'll add you. If not, no probs of course, just didn't want you to miss out x
