Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Not sure if someone else already had but I've added you Chamonix :)

Miami81 · 21/06/2017 22:40

Carlotta
My DH is Scottish and I am Irish (me with a very hard to pronounce first name) so we are definitely heading in the Irish/Scottish Gaelic name direction. May try to stick with more readily pronounceable ones. I love siun (pronounced shoon) and Fia (just as it is written) both for girls, but DH not so keen. Boys names I find harder, surname just doesn't suit many of them.
We have a top two, 1 boy and 1 girl. Actually managed to persuade a friend who had a baby 8 weeks ago not to use our boys name, only by coming up with a better name for their surname, not by telling her we wanted it, that would be weird.

CarlottaJo · 22/06/2017 00:04

I love Fia @Miami81, Ennis is my absolute fave boys name which is Irish but OH won't entertain it :(

CarlottaJo · 22/06/2017 00:04

I love Oonagh also @Miami81 x

glastogal · 22/06/2017 00:10

Loving all the name talk!! I like everyone's choices so far Grin

Currently lying in my tent.. listening to our neighbours have a party.. feeling sick because it's way past my bedtime, but I have had a lovely first evening at Glastonbury. Can't wait for a slightly cooler day on site tomorrow Smile

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/06/2017 02:44

Just can't get cool tonight. Hope everyone else is sleeping ok.

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 22/06/2017 03:34

Me neither @Mrsbluebell17 😕 passed out just before midnight but woke at 1.30 and have been awake since...

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/06/2017 07:15

Biker hope you got to sleep ok? My nights sleep was awful. I got really frustrated with not being able to get cool enough to sleep for so long. I think today will be a long day.

Oysterbabe · 22/06/2017 07:28

We're decided on our girls name which is Annika (probably Anni for short). DD is Heidi and I think they really work together. Boy's names are still up for discussion. I really like Jesse but my sister's little girl is Jessica so I don't think we can.

ScotsLamb · 22/06/2017 07:52

Hi all. I had a fab sleep last night. OHs long nights at work are over just now so he was in bed at 9.30pm so I slept much better. Feel so awake this morning for the first time in ages.
We have loads of girls names but hardly any boys names. Being a teacher doesn't help! Too many names associated with kids.

TipTop333 · 22/06/2017 07:59

Scots we are both teachers so I feel your pain!

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/06/2017 08:06

Glad you managed to sleep well scots. I can imagine being a teacher makes choosing names very challenging.

Midwife asked me at last appointment to see the doctor at some point about getting a low dosage of aspirin due to family history of blood pressure. Got a call today with the doctor so hopefully they can prescribe it and that'll be sorted. Anyone else been recommended this?

CarlottaJo · 22/06/2017 08:38

Just bedtime for me, hope it doesn't get too hot! Night night xxx

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 22/06/2017 09:56

Definitely going to be a long day today @Mrsbluebell17 - eventually fell back to sleep at 5.30am for a couple of hours but still v broken ☹️

biginjapan · 22/06/2017 10:51

@mrsbluebell I'm on low dose aspirin for high bp. Have always had it towards end of pregnancy but my baseline is higher than ideal this time Sad. I'm a bit skeptical that it's going to do anything. Make sure you don't get given the soluble version, like me. Total pain.

Miami81 · 22/06/2017 11:55

Bluebell
I'm on aspirin. My sis had pre-eclampsia in her first two pregnancies. So I am high risk with a high bmi. They automatically put me on it at 12 weeks.
Sis went on to have two further pregnancies on the aspirin with no complications. I think it works for some people.

Royalsteph · 22/06/2017 12:08

Had midwife today at 15+4, she listened to the baby's heartbeat. Was lovely to hear. She commented on how active baby was. Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather.

Mrsbluebell17 · 22/06/2017 12:11

Thanks Miami and Japan.
Dr called me and wants to know more details re my mums issues with bp in pregnancy so I've had to go back to her to ask more questions. I need to call them back and arrange another telephone appointment and so I'll see what they say.
My bp is absolutely fine at the moment but I think the midwife suggested it based on my mum having high bp with me, and was induced a week early because of it. Then pre eclampsia with my brother.

Biker I feel your pain. Today is proving to be a tough day!

Hope you got some sleep glasto Grin

biginjapan · 22/06/2017 12:15

I'm sure it can't hurt anyway. I wish I'd known about it in previous pregnancies as I have always had to have so much monitoring and have never developed PE. Miami, that's good to hear. Fingers crossed it short circuits any issues - aspirin seems to be the new pregnancy wonder drug - helping with preventing miscarriage and bp.

MaryShelley1818 · 22/06/2017 12:40

Sorry I haven't been on for ages! Congratulations to all the good test results and gender reveals!
I've been awol while waiting for the results of our NIPT redraw but finally got the good news today!!!

Everything low risk and it's another December BOY!!!! 💙

Brens13 · 22/06/2017 13:09

Congratulations MaryShelley Great news on the test results, and another boy!! I think all the girls must be among us that are team yellow.

Have been out and about in some of our school kitchens the last couple of days with work - they've been absolutely boiling. One yesterday was over 40 degrees when the ovens were on! Has made me exhausted today and not feeling tiptop, would quite like to go home to nap on the sofa, but still got 3 hours before I can do that Sad

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 22/06/2017 13:11

Yay @MaryShelley1818 - amazing!

Carley27 · 22/06/2017 13:35

Congratulations MaryShelley! :)

That's fantastic @MaryShelley1818
Congratulations.
We got our combined results for downs today and the risk is 1:85000, so I will take that. No result for Edwards or Patau's checked my form and the sonographer has crossed them off?! Weird? Maybe because she couldn't see any markers for those? (She says hopefully). Anyone experienced the same??

CarlottaJo · 22/06/2017 14:27

@MaryShelley1818 yay! Congratulations! 💙💙💙
