star with my first pregnancy I had spotting of old blood early on, I was told that this is common from when the embryo implants and causes a little blood. If it is fresh (bright red) blood then this can be a concern and is worth getting checked out.

Hope everyone gets through Monday morning today! I want to stay in bed 😳

Kilicat · 22/05/2017 07:58

mills agreed - thought it was pretty typical these days. I'm 35 and expecting Dc2 and definitely don't feel like an older mum (in south east). Nct group were all the same age or older and work colleagues having babies are almost always older than me.

Kilicat · 22/05/2017 08:00

star I had a small amount of spotting with Dc1. I mentioned it to the GP and he booked me in for an early scan the next day - might be worth considering if you don't want to spend the money on it.

ImBreakingBad · 22/05/2017 08:01

Sickness has come in full force today Sad. Can't eat and everything smells so badly!

flyingsprocket · 22/05/2017 08:18

Another older mum here, 38 & DD is 18 months. All of my NCT group were a similar age & most of the mums I've met locally are too.

weasledee · 22/05/2017 08:34

Think I win the older mum contest! :)
I'm 41 and this will be my 3rd. I have 2 DC aged 6 and 4.....

mrsb87 · 22/05/2017 10:22

Imbreaking right there with you with the smells thing, I've just been to buy more air freshener top ups for my hallway! Pretty sure it's because out house is tiny and has night porch or anything to keep my husband's still my work boots in that the hallway is my particular trigger point...vom :-( doing the weekly shop this morning was unbelievably tough, I kept getting wafts of vom, ugh.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 22/05/2017 11:26

Well today I was a bit worried because I thought my symptoms were basically gone from last week. Took another test (no idea why - 'just in case'). It now says 3+ weeks which would be correct as of today. I'm now sat with a handy bucket. Well played, body, well played! Sad

Waitingonasmile · 22/05/2017 11:28

My sore boobs are gone so pretty much symptomless apart from tiredness and some nausea. Been craving pasta bolognese for a week and went to shop to get ingredients, returned home and I've forgotten the mince Angry. Too wet and miserable to drag toddler out again to get some.

I'm so nervous about scan already and it's still two weeks away.Blush

purplechoc · 22/05/2017 11:37

I'm another one worrying about lack of symptoms! I'm very grateful that I don't feel horrendous but makes me worried that things aren't right - can't win! I've got a reassurance scan on Saturday as go away until I'm about 10 weeks after that so just want to know if things are going well before I go, really hoping to see a little heartbeat!

Waitingonasmile · 22/05/2017 11:45

How far along will you be purplechoc? My earliest scan last time was 8 weeks and it was lovely. Was really clear and reassuring.

I don't think I'll really relax until after NHS scan though. Another 6(ish) weeks to go Shock.

purplechoc · 22/05/2017 12:28

@Waitingonasmile between 6+2 and 6+6, not sure exactly but very early either way. Wouldn't have it so early if I wasn't going away and have left it as late as I can! Yes know what you mean, I think the early scan will only reassure me that it's not all in my head but won't relax until at least the 12 week one!

JustABitInDenial · 22/05/2017 14:18

Good god I feel rough today. Thankfully not feeling too sickly yet (still awaiting the 'everything smells funny' thing) but I'm bloody knackered. Really struggling to keep my eyes open 😴💤

rememberpurpleronnie · 22/05/2017 14:26

7 weeks today and the nausea has hit. Also so so tired. And have a cold! So it's a good day here GrinStill debating about an early scan, have my midwife appointment a week tomorrow so will see how I feel after that. I know this pregnancy is going to be highly medicalised due to me having a recent pulmonary embolism and DS being born with congenital heart disease. Part of me is reluctant to do anything additional as I know the rest of my pregnancy will be so closely monitored, so I feel like I should be enjoying these early weeks with minimal intervention!!

ElleMcElle · 22/05/2017 14:40

Ugh - so very tired and coming down with a cold. Any tips for battling the exhaustion? I have so much work to do! Will be able to start winding down in August, but until then I really can't afford to be this knackered!

Waitingonasmile · 22/05/2017 14:54

Absolutely no help to you ellemcelle but I remember the tiredness going away for most of the second trimester.

embo1 · 22/05/2017 15:21

OK, so I've forgotten EVERYTHING from the first time round (DS is 4). Lasy week I told my GP I had a positive test and the date of my last period... He sent me for blood tests... What happens next?
How do I get an early scan? I had some light bleeding yesterday, estimated 7 weeks, but it seems to have stopped...

star1980 · 22/05/2017 16:02

Thanks ladies, I was worried yesterday (too scared to go to the loo for fear of what I'd find!). But I'm ok today since it's stopped - it was definitely red but dark red like dried blood and such a small amount so going to try and hold out. In the process of registering with a new GP so will mention it in a week or so once that's done... if I don't bleed/spot more in the meantime.

I hope I'll regret saying this but I'm really willing the nausea to start! I'm 5+3 and only symptom still is sore boobs, I want to know something's happening in there!

And yes I'm in London too and don't feel like an older mum in real life but mumsnet reminds me most people do this much earlier!

Maybebaby2 · 22/05/2017 17:35

Advice needed please! I've noticed this for a while but today it is much more obvious. I have very visible swelling on both sides where I imagine my ovaries to be. Pretty much the same size each side and I can feel it as well, as in its raised but not hard if I press gently. Its not painful at all but I'm still worried it's not normal. Has anyone experienced or even heard of this before? Could it be cysts?

Ruthcarr1990 · 22/05/2017 17:42

I had my scan today saw gestation sack and yoke sack. Was told it may be to early to see a fetal pole. Got another scan in 10 days. Just praying every things going to be ok. Xxx

Waitingonasmile · 22/05/2017 18:00

Maybebaby I have never heard of that. Have you tried googling? If you are worried might be worth seeing GP

Ruth1990. Hopefully it's just too early and you'll see a heartbeat next time. I'm sure even past 6 weeks sometimes fetal pole can't be seen. I can understand why you would worry though.Flowers Did they say how far along they think you are?

Maybebaby2 · 22/05/2017 18:38

waitingon yeah I've googled but not come up with much that's why I thought I'd ask on here see if anyone else had heard of it. I'd rather not go to gp as it's not painful and also I've got my booking in appointment next week so can ask about it then.

I can't remember who it was but did we have a midwife amongst us?

Ruthcarr1990 · 22/05/2017 18:39

@Waitingonasmile they said I'm between 5-6 weeks hence why I have to go back in 10 days. I asked them with what they have seen is it looking normal and they said yes. The next 10 days is going to drag lol xxx

Eva30 · 22/05/2017 20:01

Hey everyone, hope you're all well

star I'm definitely the same. I'm 5w today and everyday is feeling like a week!

maybebaby no never heard of that sorry. And its the same on both sides? And other symptoms?
Ruth hope it goes OK next week and you can see the little heartbeat then

Thingymaboob · 22/05/2017 20:02

@Maybebaby2 it's almost certainly a corpus luteum cyst. It's a functional cyst which can get quite big in the first trimester as it supports baby and produces the hormones until placenta takes over. It's normally only one side. I was absolutely convinced I'd ovulated from my left as felt sharp pains there. However, left is fine. Right ovary has two large cysts which is apparently normal in early pregnancy
