Victoria. I'm not having the test. They only give you a number and since I know I wouldn't have the amnio because of the miscarriage risk and the fact I wouldn't terminate anyway I'm not going to bother. It would worry me no end weather it was 1/3 or 1/3000.

Hotpinkangel19 · 06/06/2017 19:45

I'm worried that being extremely upset and emotional could harm baby? I'm 9weeks 3days. Had tummy cramps (not really bad) but I'm worried xx

Fattycowagain · 06/06/2017 20:36

Things are done slightly different here with regards to testing. We have chosen to do (what I think you lot call) the harmony test first. If the results from that are worrying, you can go on to have the NIPT and after that you can go on and have the amniotic puncture. All of these are your own choice and you can always so no.
We decided to go this route, because we already have a toddler and have to think about her too. A (severely) handicapped sibling would impact her life as well, not only ours.

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 06/06/2017 21:18

I've been to the toilet and noticed a small bit of brown discharge in my pants :( I did push a bit hard earlier because I was constipated and it was so close! Do you think this is something to worry about?

ForumUsername · 06/06/2017 22:16

@Victoriaaaaaaaa I've had brown spotting for over 2 weeks now
I went to the EPU and they scanned when I was around 6 weeks (6+1 by LMP or 5+4 going on when I think I ovulated)
They seen sac and yoke sac and told me to come back in 2 weeks
That's tomorrow - really can't wait to see a heartbeat

Brown spotting is meant to be old blood so not normally anything to worry about but it's wrecking my head these past weeks

Depending on if you get it again it might be worth getting it checked out

My spotting is mainly when I have a BM or if I'm constipated
Some days there's none and I relax and then after a couple of days it comes back ShockConfused
If everything is shown to be ok tomorrow I had already booked an early scan with my consultant on Monday and I'm hoping she can find out what's actually causing it

jellypi3 · 07/06/2017 08:40

we are having the downs test. I definitely want to know, as I'd probably opt for a TFMR if it was downs.

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 07/06/2017 09:00

Urgh my dog jumped on my stomach again this morning she's only 4.5kg! Been trying to get her out of it for ages! Only 7+2 so read it's well protected by the pubic bone at the moment thank god!

Gemaxo · 07/06/2017 10:16

Just had my last internal scan to check for a heartbeat after 3 weeks of scans...

Bean has grown loads and the heartbeat was very strong!!! So happy Smile this horrendous sickness is worth it

Also attached the difference in a week (top pic is 5+5 bottom is 6+5 with a heartbeat)

weasledee · 07/06/2017 10:43

Wow Gem! That's great news and those scans are fab! Congrats :)

EekThreek · 07/06/2017 12:46

Victoriaaaaa, my toddler keeps throwing himself at me for cuddles - his head is just at lower-stomach height. Oof! My 7yo is so happy she's finally big enough to reach all the way round me when she hugs me... she's going to be disappointed in a few weeks 😂

Gem, those scans are lovely, glad you're seeing good news!

We'll probably have the probability tests, and make a decision from there. I hate thinking about it, but we have to think of the impact on our other children too. I have three friends who have children with DS, and I have adult friends with it too. It can have such a range of effects, and it's not just as simple as 'having DS' - there are varying degrees of respiratory, digestive and mobility problems, not to mention developmental implications. We'd have to consider the impact of potential extended hospital stays and everything. It's not the black and white issue I used to think it was. Sorry to derail 😳

ForumUsername · 07/06/2017 13:40

We are just back from the EPU
Delighted to see the little heartbeat Smile

So relieved! I'm dying to buy something small like a little sleepsuit but OH says it's too early Hmm

Gemaxo · 07/06/2017 13:53

How many weeks are you forum?

Waitingonasmile · 07/06/2017 14:08

Congratulations on the scans! Smile

My next one is in two weeks and it seems ages away. Shock

ForumUsername · 07/06/2017 14:36

@Gemaxo they measured 7+5
(8+1 by LMP though)
7+5 is more inline with my dates

They only seen gestational sac with external scan but seen everything with internal

Looking forward to seeing the consultant on Monday and getting another look

haily123 · 07/06/2017 18:41

Would I be allowed to tentatively join? Or am I too late x

Ruthcarr1990 · 07/06/2017 19:15

Hi @haily123 xx

ForumUsername · 07/06/2017 19:36

@haily123 when are you due?

haily123 · 07/06/2017 20:09

My estimated due date is 26/01/18 x

Disinterested · 07/06/2017 21:27

Hi all.

I've been having light cramps on and off since I got my BFP but today at work I wiped and there was (a very small amount of) blood on the toilet paper. I ignored this but just now I've wiped and again there's a small amount of blood. It's only the one wipe (sorry for TMI) and when I wipe again the tissue is clean...

I'm not sure what to make of this? Do I wait for my midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon or get seen earlier about it? Just not sure what's normal. I am eight weeks today. :(

Waitingonasmile · 08/06/2017 07:01

Disinterested how are things today? Bleeding is always so worrying but for some people seems to be normal. Hope it's stopped now

Disinterested · 08/06/2017 07:18

There was a small amount again with my first wee this morning but has been nothing since... it's not every time just very occasionally and there is such a small amount of blood I'm not sure whether to be concerned or not! Thanks for asking :)

pickledsausage · 08/06/2017 07:21

Congrats on all the scans & welcome @haily123 :) is it your first baby?

@disinterested I've had this a couple of times too and have been told it's completely normal. Try not to worry and just mention to your midwife today.

How is everyone feeling? I had my weekly headache yesterday (I think it might be a migraine but feels dramatic calling it that) but other than that feeling relatively normal apart from weird stomach goings on. 10+5 today and 2 weeks til 12 weeks scan. I can't wait!!!!

Rosehyd2 · 08/06/2017 07:41

I've had nearly a week free of bad nausea but think it may have come back today Sad
I also got my first nhs scan appointment letter through yesterday for 7th July. It feels ages away!!

millsbynight · 08/06/2017 07:48

@Disinterested how worrying for you! I think such small amounts on and off are not concerning and your midwife will just say that spotting is not uncommon in early pregnancy but definitely bring it up with her when you see her today! I'm sure it's nothing sinister.
