Congrats and welcome @winsones Grin

I had air con in my first trimester last time as I lived in Thailand... it seems ridiculous that it's harder to sleep in England! Does anyone know of any gadgets that cool a room? I've heard good things about a Dyson fan and have seen you can buy air con units online. Although I bet both are pretty pricy! My house in London heats up like a furnace in the summer though am am thinking it might be well worth it!

Lolly34h · 26/05/2017 10:11

It's far too hot.

WLMcI · 26/05/2017 10:39

Welcome hutch, same EDD as me! Also welcome gemaxo and winsones Smile

I second that, millsbynight! I wouldn't actually call 25-27 degrees hot...but for those struggling, take it from someone who grew up with 35 degree summers, high humidity and no air con: 1) open your windows at night. 2)Put a box fan or any window fan in a window at one side of your house pointing IN (to draw in cool air). 3)Then first thing in the morning, close all your windows, and keep all the shades/curtains drawn throughout the day. Use fans to circulate air inside but keep the heat out by not opening anything! Smile

Welcome and congrats to newcomers!

I've got an early scan tomorrow for a bit of reassurance before we go away until the end of June. I'm quite anxious about it because I just don't feel pregnant, I've had a couple of symptoms but from family history I thought I'd feel dreadful the whole way through and I feel fine! Should be somewhere between 6+2 and 6+6 tomorrow. Hoping to see a little heartbeat before we then tell our parents next week

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 26/05/2017 15:13

It's so warm here today. I'm not going to lie, I felt so sorry for those who were pretty late in their pregnancies in town. I may be suffering a bit but I'm so thankful I'm due in the winter!

Ruthcarr1990 · 26/05/2017 17:09

@UnicornsandRainbows1 is far too hot here too!!! I'm boiling. Patiently waiting for the ice cream man lol xxx

coragreta · 26/05/2017 17:56

It's 27. Too hot. Taking a leaf from the previous thread and getting a McDonald's milkshake! Cool me down.

bunanarama · 26/05/2017 18:07

Just had my booking in appointment - tip for anyone yet to have theirs, my "notes" that they gave me are in a big a3 wallet with lots of pregnancy tips on the outside. I had my appointment at the end of the day so was just going straight home but if I had planned to go to work after I'm not really sure what i would have done with it. Take a big bag to carry them in if you'll be seeing anyone who shouldn't know after! Smile

millsbynight · 26/05/2017 19:53

@WLMcl I won't say which particular country as it might out me but in one of the hot countries I lived in growing up my mum was going through an 'eco warrior' phase and chose to live in a house with no air-conditioning! The house was supposed to be self-cooling... yeah right! We lived there for 2 years and I lost about 5kg from sweating. I do miss those days those, running around in underwear on hot balmy nights.

DS has ExP's super white sensitive British skin and the poor thing burns so easily. Me, I can be out all day on days like today with no sunscreen and will barely develop a soft tan. Don't think I've ever been sunburnt in the UK!

@FromHackneyWithLove those Dyson bladeless fans are amazing but so expensive!

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 26/05/2017 20:07

RuthCarr1990 You may been to patiently wait and overtake the children every day this weekend!

Fattycowagain · 26/05/2017 20:14

Freeze bottles of water during the day and put them in the bedroom at night. They will give off the cold as they slowly melt.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 26/05/2017 21:22

I may have to try that. Where have you been all my life? Grin

rememberpurpleronnie · 26/05/2017 21:36

I booked an early scan today as a surprise for DH as it's our wedding anniversary- happy to say all is well, the baby's size was in line with my dates and we saw a heart beat. Glad I did it now, I was hesitant but feel much better!

millsbynight · 26/05/2017 22:02

@Fattycowagain what a great idea!!

@rememberpurpleronnie so reassuring to see a little heartbeatGrin congrats!

I'm coming down with the flu I think. Weakened immune system can't deal with the dramatic changes in temperature we've had over the last few days. Urghhhh

GruffaloSoldier · 26/05/2017 22:56

Hello everyone!

Welcome to newcomers.

I'm just checking in as haven't been on for a while.

I'm eight weeks today and have my booking in appointment next week.

I'm still feeling sick from morning until night but I'd say I'm coping much better with it now. I'm not sure if it got easier or if I'm just better at managing it. I think I'm less exhausted too, although feeling better makes me quite worried!

Both of my boys and my husband are off for a week now so I'm looking forward to a break from school runs and cooking.

I so wish we were having an early scan to put my mind at rest but just going to wait for the 12 week scan.

FromHackneyWithLove · 27/05/2017 09:01

@millsbynight - £300+!!!!!! Jesus!!!!! Although possibly worth remortgaging to get a couple Grin

We have to be out of our holiday cottage by 10 this morning. My sickness is off the chart in the mornings so this is proving a massive slog! MiL is going through the fridge presenting me with disgustingly past-it left over bits of food asking if I want any of it - just ran off downstairs to dry heave and told DH he's in charge!

NoOneLikesACrispyTowel · 27/05/2017 09:20

I can't figure out if I've got a cold or hayfever.

I'm going with the latter and in the middle of a sneezing fit yesterday I remembered that I got worse hay fever when pregnant with my other two.

I'm gonna have to google whether that's actually more likely or a total coincidence.

What's everyone's plans this weekend? I thought I was going to a wedding today but I found out at the 11th hour that it's tomorrow. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I didn't realise 2 hours into the car journey because DH would have gone mad. He hates the groom as it is (he is a total wanker tbh but it's family, what can you do?) so it would have gone down like a lead balloon.

Now I've got a Saturday with no plans a 10 year old staring at a screen and a 6 year old who's already bored who wants to know the itinerary.

Isabeau1980 · 27/05/2017 09:51

Hi guys. Haven't been around much.

Had first doctor's appointment yesterday. Went well, just the usual. Will get a hospital appointment in 4 - 6 weeks.

No other news. Queasy but no real morning sickness yet. Hardly had any last time.

Sorry I can't remember your names. My mobile isn't letting me scroll back at the moment.

ForumUsername · 27/05/2017 10:23

Hi all, been catching up with the thread as I've been off here all week.
Had brown spotting/discharge since last Sunday and have been really wound up.
I made an appointment with EPU for last Wednesday on Monday morning but ended up going into ER as it got a little heavier
ER scanned me and seen sac but nothing in the sac and they dated me earlier than using LMP. They took blood and told me to come back in 48 hours to get more bloods. The Doc there said not to bother with EPU

I got a call from midwife on Tues to say do take the EPU appointment as their scanners are better
So had another scan there on Wednesday morning and they seen a sac and yoke sac, dated me 5+5 and told me to come back in two weeks.
It means I'm now due 20/01/2018
They also said not to go back for bloods to ER as they are happy with what they can see.

The spotting isn't heavy(sorry TMI but haven't really needed liners), I've got very minor dull aches but not what I'd consider period pains, boobs still ache, I'm hungry but nothing seems appetising
TBH I'm up the walls with worry though, don't know how I'll last to Wednesday week for next scan.

Sorry for long post, I had been keeping away from forums as I thought they'd make me worry more but think seeing how everyone else is coming along helps too.

purplechoc · 27/05/2017 13:28

I've just had my early scan and whilst there is a yolk sac in the right place, there's not yet a fetal pole. I'm only 6+2 but now booked in for when I'm
9 weeks for a rescan to assess viability. She did an external scan and didn't attempt an internal one which I was quite surprised about

Waitingonasmile · 27/05/2017 15:44

Forumusername and purplechoc. I will keep everything crossed for you both that your next scans go well. Must be worrying if they don't see more on scan even though it can be totally normal this early. *
*
I wish we were all out of first trimester with good news at 12 week scan!

millsbynight · 27/05/2017 16:08

How worrying for you both @purplechoc and @ForumUsername ! Hopefully it will all be clearer at your next scans but the waiting is painful.

@purplechoc They did an external scan?! Was this private or hospital? Either way it should have been internal at such an early gestation! I'd be fuming!

I have full-blown flu and all I can take is bloody paracetamol. Haven't been able to get out of bed all day. Just kill me now!

OP posts:
purplechoc · 27/05/2017 16:20

Thanks @mils. @Waitingonasmile it was a private one. I had to sign a piece of paper giving consent for a trans vaginal one. beforehand but was a bit confused. I would have complained but the scan in a few weeks is free.
I guess it's normal not to see much at 6 weeks from external. I don't feel too worried, just hating the waiting game!

@ForumUsername fingers crossed for you, let us know how you get on

ndo4000 · 27/05/2017 17:08

Just home from a night away & got a letter about my booking in appt!!! It's this Friday!! Whoop whoop!!!
