@ForumUsername @purplechoc Fingers crossed everything goes well at the next scan. It is such a worrying time isn't it. Every day seems to last an age when you are waiting on your next scan.

I called epu today to change the time of my next scan in a couple of weeks, and asked the midwife for a bit of advice after some bleeding was seen on my scan on Thursday. I asked if I should be modifying my behaviour any, taking it easy etc... Looking for a bit of reassurance. The sonographer didn't make a big deal of it or give any advice, but I've since been researching it and some people are told to rest.

Anyway, the midwife on the phone said very matter of factly "yes that's called a subchronionic haematoma and we cant guarantee the pregnancy will progress. However if it's small they generally resolve and cause no problems. We wouldn't normally recan for that but your sonographer likes to see people again"

I came off the phone feeling awful! Surely there was no need to say they can't guarantee the pregnancy will progress? Bloody hell, has she no empathy? First I've heard it out so harshly!

Waitingonasmile · 27/05/2017 20:00

Itsgoingtoofast Im not sure how big yours is but I also had one with my last pregnancy. I was also told they can't guarantee pregnancy will continue but it did and bleed was gone by 20 weeks. When I googled it seems the majority of pregnancies do continue and you are far far more likely to have a positive outcome than a negative. That was a harsh thing to say to you Flowers

itsgoingtoofast · 27/05/2017 20:35

@Waitingonasmile thanks so much for responding. That's so good to hear! I've been reading that it often has a good outcome so was trying to be positive, especially as the sonographer didn't seem worried by it. She didn't say how big it was, but I'd say it was about the size of the baby from looking at the scan which was measuring 7+3. Definitely wasn't anywhere near as big as the sac, although I suppose that doesn't show the depth of you know what I mean. I think that midwife spoke out of turn, given that she had no idea of the detail....

purplechoc · 27/05/2017 20:57

@itsgoingtoofast it sounds like she was speaking out of turn with not enough info. I think sometimes they just want to let you know nothing is 100% as they wouldn't want to make you think it's definitely going to be okay and then it be wrong. The woman who did my external scan today made sure I understood that she couldn't reassure me that it was a viable pregnancy, but as far as I can tell everything is where it should be and it's not unusual at all to not be able to see a fetal pole or heartbeat at 6 weeks externally! As others have said, the odds are in your favour so it's more than likely that things will be fine.

itsgoingtoofast · 27/05/2017 21:02

Yeah I think you're right, it was almost like she quoted the lines out of the text book right at me! I only asked if I should be doing anything differently to increase the chances of it resolving quickly. I didn't ask if it was going to be ok as I know only too well there are no guarantees at this stage.

Hopefully we get our reassurances at our next scan. We just have to survive until then without going mad Confused

mrsb87 · 27/05/2017 21:42

Rah rah rah! Mini rant time. It's too fucking hard to keep it a secret when you feel so awful all the time. Currently in a warm pub, waiting for dh's band to play and it's hell in here! I feel like blurring out...."I'm pregnant, let me sit down!"

mrsb87 · 27/05/2017 21:43

Blurting, not blurring haha

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 28/05/2017 07:20

So I'm guessing nothing is going to happen on a Sunday, and maybe I'm just being impatient, but how long did it roughly take for you to get a booking-in appointment?

I sent a form to them Friday evening (their number is basically an automated voice that says to do that - other than that you can leave a voicemail). I counted Friday out because it would be unreasonable to count that as the first working day if I've just sent it. But tomorrow is a bank holiday and the waiting is around at this stage is getting to me. I left a voicemail Friday but nada.

On the plus side my side pain hasn't appeared in a few days.

ndo4000 · 28/05/2017 07:30

@UnicornsandRainbows1 I sent in a self referral form on about the 17th or 18th and got a letter in the post yesterday telling me my appt is on Friday. So it'll be around 2 weeks after I sent in the form.

Waitingonasmile · 28/05/2017 07:43

Unicorns and rainbows I heard back and got an appointment after a week which I thought was very quick. I really wouldn't worry until about 8 weeks because I think most areas like to do booking in between 8-10 weeks. It's 8 weeks where I am.

justmetwice · 28/05/2017 07:47

How is your sickness? I am a bit concerned as i have gone on holiday for a couple of days and it seems that the sickness has disappeared. I am sleeping lots more, but no sickness or other symptoms. Had this happened to others? I am at 6 weeks.

PolkaDotFlamingo · 28/05/2017 08:10

I got my booking in appointment in just over a week from calling them and it's not until I'm 10+4. Going to have to change it too as it falls on a work day so it'll probably be even later. Seems really late but I remember getting the scan date very quickly after it last time.

PolkaDotFlamingo · 28/05/2017 08:12

justmet last time I remember the sickness coming and going and worrying me. I think it's normal.

justmetwice · 28/05/2017 08:21

Thanks polkadot... Hopefully that is it

Waitingonasmile · 28/05/2017 09:24

I've had brown spotting on and off for the last two days. I had this with my last pregnancy but still so worried it might not be ok this time. Hate first trimester!

Hotpinkangel19 · 28/05/2017 09:32

I've had my MW booking in date, scan booked for 3rd July. Still have no Due date!!!!! X

ndo4000 · 28/05/2017 10:09

@Hotpinkangel19 can you work out a rough due date? There are lots of estimators online. (Also bear in mind the EDDs and not accurate at all so maybe it doesn't really matter?!)

millsbynight · 28/05/2017 10:30

@FromHackneyWithLove forgot to reply to your post. £300 for a fan!!! I know!! 😳😳 DH would divorce me if I spent £300 on a fan. A friend of mine has one though and they really are amazing.

Ladies I'm having really bad lower back pain. Had it all day yesterday and so far today. Not sure if it's just from my flu/illness or something more sinister 😟 Can anyone offer some reassurance?

OP posts:
UnicornsandRainbows1 · 28/05/2017 10:38

That makes me feel a bit calmer. Thanks for your replies.

hotpinkangel19 ndo4000 I use my appointment, I think it's pretty accurate. I'm guessing the EDS on their end is probably more for measurement purposes just so they have some more accurate data and guidelines to go from. Just my two cents.

ForumUsername · 28/05/2017 10:39

@Waitingonasmile I know, I can't wait for 2nd trimester to start.
I know it's not going to be without worries but I'm really hoping it's better than now.
This is my first pregnancy and can't get over how anxious I am

@purplechoc its really horrible waiting isn't it. I guess this is why they don't like scanning till 7/8 weeks.

We've told our mums and my siblings. I really wanted my sisters to know as they are a bit older and all had their kids young. It's been good to bounce things off them as things affect us in the same way (pill etc)
One of my sisters had similar spotting as me with her first
They all had really bad MS which hasn't kicked in for me, just a general kinda nauseous feeling. Hopefully I don't get it as bad as them.

ForumUsername · 28/05/2017 10:44

@millsbynight is it constant or if you move?
If it's not constant it could be muscular, I've been getting that depending on if I've been sitting on a hard chair for hours or managed to twist in my sleep

I've also been getting a bad crampy feeling in my back some days, think it's from gas and constipation, as it eases after a BM or a light walk

Can't believe how rubbish my digestive system has gotten! I'm 6+2 now and really hope things improve over the pregnancy

millsbynight · 28/05/2017 12:27

@ForumUsername it comes and goes but when it's here the pain stays for hours. Hot water bottle helps so hopefully it's just muscular pain Smile

weasledee · 28/05/2017 13:52

Milly i had terrible lower back pain when I had flu early this year, hopefully it's just that x

coragreta · 28/05/2017 14:35

I just got my booking in appointment by phoning the drs and they said the next appointment. It's on Wednesday. I'll be 7ish weeks.
