Fingers crossed this works, no idea how to make a thread but giving it my best shot. Let the May babies continue!

Just had my MLU assessment and had a really good chat with the Midwife. Lots of changes in policies this last few weeks.

No sweep today, she wants me to wait till Tuesday but thinks with the twinges I've been having I may end up labouring before then anyway... (I don't, but we'll see)...

Had the full sign off for MLU and because I'm low risk they'll let me go to 40+13 and induce from there. I can however, have two goes with the pessary and still use the MLU which is brilliant news and a MASSIVE weight off of my shoulders!

MrsJW15 · 18/05/2017 17:32

Thanks @lullaby23 - will check and see what we have on crib sheets and maybe get ordering! We do have lots of muslins. I also think we need some kind of rain cover for the pram/car seat.

Just back from 41 week check at midwife (41 weeks tomorrow). Another good sweep, I was 2cm dilated and she said she could stretch to 3+. She could feel the baby's head and reckoned it would have been possible to break my waters if she'd wanted. Induction (pessary, in MLU) booked for Wednesday but she was very positive that baby would come before then. She recommended any food that would soften stools, as well as a few minutes of very fast walking to get the baby moving!

Badgerbird · 18/05/2017 18:34

That's great news raspberry. Glad it's calmed the anxiety.

Ooooh jw not long for you now then. How exciting!!!

I succumbed and bought crumpets yesterday..... yum!! Half the pack is in the freezer along with sliced cinnamon and raisin bagels for handy post baby snacks :)

Rustler74 · 18/05/2017 23:10

Second sweep yesterday after checkup and monitoring showed all was good. Midwife said I had 1cm dilation and Sweep appeared to be successfully done. Losing mucus plug now.

Pessary as planned tomorrow. No proper twinges as yet but back and pelvis hurting and boobs rather sore so I'm off to sleep now until hopefully I'll be woken up by contractions or waters ?

mightymouse76 · 19/05/2017 00:58

Good luck rustler!
Any of you post partum ladies been getting headaches? I've had a corker today- getting worried about eclampsia...just taken some of my regular codiene to see if it subsides...

EsmesBees · 19/05/2017 07:08

Great news about the weight tea. Can't believe he is 5 weeks already. Feels like he's going to be in university before mine comes!

That's good news raspberry. Try not to worry about the labour. What will be will be.

Mighty have you got any other symptoms?

Sonnet18 · 19/05/2017 08:06

I didn't get offered a second sweep so I'm a little annoyed by that. I've seen a different midwife almost every time and the level of care has been really poor to be honest (I'm not a massive nhs complainer so it takes a lot for me to say this!)
mrsjw im also booked for induction on wed. Really don't want to be induced but don't want to be pregnant any longer so it's looking like my only option!
Starting to lose motivation for fun and quiet activities with DD. She's too heavy (and quick!) to chase around the park and soft play last week wasn't the most successful! We just sat down with a bucket of soapy water and washed all her toys... good idea until she ended up soaked. I've given up and it's a bowl of cheerios and CBeebies!
Anyway, sorry for the moan- I'm getting to the end of my tether! Hope everyone has a lovely day!

WishIWasSleeping · 19/05/2017 08:25

For those of you that haven't purchased crib / pram sheets yet, we used our clean pillowcases until we'd been shopping, or if there was a washing emergency!

FoxMulder · 19/05/2017 08:41

Well done tea! That's a great weight gain!

Barnes79 · 19/05/2017 08:55

Mighty Are you drinking plenty of fluids? Dehydration is a common cause of headaches and if you're breastfeeding I'd have thought this was a possibility. If you've no other symptoms of eclampsia I'd try not to worry... Flowers

FoxMulder · 19/05/2017 09:25

Hey @brightsmoke if you're out there - hope you're going OK with the induction.

newbieho · 19/05/2017 09:49

Great tip @WishIWasSleeping , just made a mental note to myself to check pillow cases.

teainbed · 19/05/2017 10:19

@mightymouse76 how are you doing this morning? Agree re dehydration if you're breastfeeding, you need to drink tons of fluids. But if you're unwell at all with any other symptoms you need to get seen today.

@Sonnet18 sounds like a CBeebies and chocolate day! Rest up, not long now.

Good luck everyone else sounds like quite a few of you are on the final lap.

mightymouse76 · 19/05/2017 10:28

Thanks Esme and Barnes- headache has brilliantly subsided. Think I was sleep deprived panicking a bit as my face is a bit puffy...but then I don't recognise my face at the moment anyway, if you see what I mean. What isn't puffy right now?! Hands are fine, feet are still in compression socks as per the 40 day post surgery rule, and no other symptoms.
Now think it was muscular- I'm not that strong and baby was up most if the previous night on lazy marathon feeds where I wasn't best positioned for my own comfort. Neck and shoulders paying for it now...Live and learn, eh?!
Hope you all have good days Cake

mightymouse76 · 19/05/2017 10:33

Just saw your message @teainbed , thank you! Yes I'm feeling better and drinking like a fish. Also demolishing my way through snacks!! If it comes back I will go to MAU. Got midwife on Sunday if not, hopefully I can make it until then.

mightymouse76 · 19/05/2017 10:46

How's baby tea? Has he changed much over the weeks? Hope you're feeling good too

1004Rise · 19/05/2017 11:05

I never thought a night where I got 3 blocks of less than 2 hours sleep would feel like such a victory. The world seems like a much nicer place!😁

Missed the midwife yesterday because she didn't ring the doorbell, there were 4 of us and 2 dogs in the house and we think she only knocked the door so no-one heard her. Annoyingly we now have to wait in again today, I know they can't schedule things because it's all a bit unpredictable and it's not like I've got 101 things planned it's just the frustrated feeling of not being allowed out. 😕

I'm hoping that the slower pace of our thread compared to our usual breakneck speed means things are happening for people and we'll have more baby spam to look at soon 😜

I'm officially an emotional wreck, I cry at the slightest thing or not even at anything.... definitely on my hormonal come down 😖

@teainbed can't believe it's 5 weeks and excellent news on that weight gain... he must just have needed some time 😁

@Rustler74 hope today goes well for you!

MrsJW15 · 19/05/2017 11:45

No signs of any progress here, despite last night's curry. Sigh. I did tell the waitress we were trying to get the baby out and she brought us s free dessert with chilli ice cream! Another day of contemplating if I'm having contractions ahead...

Rustler74 · 19/05/2017 12:07

Induction part one to be started in 5-10 minutes and currently on ctg with my wriggly bottom baby showing off.

MrsJW15 · 19/05/2017 12:42

Good luck @Rustler74! What are they trying first?

teainbed · 19/05/2017 12:58

Good luck @Rustler74 !

What's next to try and evict the baby @MrsJW15 ?

Haha @1004Rise I know what you mean about the sleep, x2 blocks of 2-3 hours feels fantastic! That's a shame you missed the midwife, annoying to have to wait in again. Wonder why she didn't phone? Hope the weepiness passes.

@mightymouse76 BabyTea is pretty good! He doesn't cry much. Voracious appetite and feeding 2 hourly during the day and 3 hourly ish at night. We're getting a few smiles and he tracks us around the room. Likes cuddles with his siblings but also a bit more animated and wriggly when you put him down on a blanket. Still pretty yellow. No sign of reflux or colic or anything he does spit up a bit but isn't upset by it. I think we're all besotted. 😍

MrsJW15 · 19/05/2017 13:20

@teainbed Lots of walking, bouncing and DTD to try to get labour going on its own before induction on Wednesday. The midwife was very positive but now I feel I've got my hopes up again.

Meanwhile I will keep reading all your baby updates and imagine cuddles with my own! Baby will be here by this time next week at least.

Rustler74 · 19/05/2017 14:02

@MrsJW15 I have a gel first which is placed on a ribbon.
Seems to be bringing on some contractions by the feels of it! Ouch

Sonnet18 · 19/05/2017 14:26

mrsjw I am in the same position as you- induction on Wednesday! I can't quite believe it as my dd came on time (I know all babies are different!) but just expected it to be roughly the same.
Fingers crossed we both go into labour today or tomorrow!

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 19/05/2017 15:50

Morning! Not caught up for days so wishing all of you well and hello to new arrivals. Also wanted to share a picture of our delightful Harrison. Still in hospital due to some issues including a paediatrician I call Dick who wanted us to top up breastfeeding with formula and got angry and increased recommended top up from 10ml to 30ml within a few hours, Harrison only 2 days old with tiny tummy at this point. Wanted to say thanks to our thread as due to you folks I refused to do more than 10 ml and hand expressed colostrum instead to top up whenever possible. You gave me the knowledge and the belief and Harrison now passed all his tests ❤️
