Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

Hopeitwontbebig · 14/03/2007 21:04

1 stone!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEk

Think some of that is from Christmas though, so maybe half a stone pregnancy not sure.

Don't think I'm eating that much,

toadstool · 14/03/2007 21:39

I've gained about 3 lbs, but it keeps shifting. I hate scales and weigh-ins, it's so confusing - I weighed 4 grammes LESS today at BUPA clinic than at midwives' 2 weeks ago and yet at home I've put on 1 lb. This being said I had removed my boots...

PurpleLostPrincess · 14/03/2007 22:13

I'm not sure, I think I've stayed the same . I was strangely hoping that all those weeks of sickness and living on jelly and fruit would provoke me losing a bit of weight but my belly has been rapidly expanding so I guess I've evened out lol!

I'm really happy this evening as DH has been openly talking about baby and is really excited! I think the scan has really woken him up a bit. We are best friends as well as lovers but just recently things have been a bit difficult and I didn't want to MAKE him talk about baby. I've missed talking so openly with him and I'm really happy to have that back again.

Take care xx

MrsMar · 15/03/2007 00:16

Evening all. I'm still on nights so playing catch up with all the news!

Laska - re cars, go with the skoda, it's basically a VW passat with a different badge on and about a third of the price! I'm going to have to put up with my husbands crummy 12 year old escort for a bit longer! (my car died a few months ago when a tree fell on it!) BTW I agree about citroens, the car that was squashed by a tree was a citroen zx and it was pretty rubbish. Never really worked properly.

Hearing you talk about the MG made me think about the yellow pages advert where the guy is trying to make a baby seat fit in his 2 seater corvette! hehe!

With regards weight gain - I've been conversing with NH101 about this on another thread on the pregancy board - I've been paranoid about gaining too much weight as I was 2 stone overweight before I got pregnant. I've had a stinking cold this week, and coupled with nights, I thought I'd pile on the weight because I've been so hungry, and giving in to the temptations of salt and vinegar McCoys (a couple of times!) but I weighed myself this evening when I got up, and at 13 weeks I've put on 2lbs. It was 3lbs last week, but I seem to have lost a pound, must be due to being ill. I'm quite happy with that, but can't quite understand why none of my clothes fit if I've only put on 2lbs. My arms must have shrunk massively and my tummy and boobs gained! Odd!

I'm going for a hair cut on monday too, must be something in the air. Actually my hair is growing really fast, very unusual for me. I'm not going for a drastic restyle though, just a trim. I definitely do have a pin head, even if I didn't have a great big lumpy body, hats never fit me, so I would never have my hair cut really short. I look all out of proportion.

Purple - that's great news about your DH. Mine has started patting my tummy and talking to the baby. It's really nice when they start feeling as excited as you isn't it? I think seeing our baby on the scan really made my dh realise it was really going to happen. He's even stopped me swearing just in case the baby hears! I think the bit in "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" that says sometimes men just have to retreat to their cave and think about things is really true. When I told dh I was pregnant, I really made an effort not to go over board talking about it all the time and redesigning the spare room. I think that helped him have time to get his head together, and now he's good and ready, he's really excited!

Blimey, you can tell I've got a quiet night shift ahead of me, sorry for the ramblings. Have a great day everyone xx

EdieMcredie · 15/03/2007 06:52

Im 14 weeks today and convinced that for the past few nights I felt some kind of movement. It felt like bubbles really low down but could not be felt on the outside and was quite faint.

Anyone else?

MrsMar · 15/03/2007 07:59

Lucky you! Not me yet, but I'm only 13 weeks.

I've no idea how much I have put on, because when I went for my first appointment, they asked how much I weighed and I told them I don't have scales so have no idea - and they couldn't weigh me because a really large lady had got on their scales and broken them!!! (I'm laughing but in a few months that will be me). Just after my scan they weighed me though so now I can see how much I put on over the next 6 months...

I am SO jealous of everyone who is feeling movement, I'd love to feel that, but I am only 12 weeks since they dated me, so I think it's much too soon.

I'm also delighted to hear that your DP/DHs are all being so lovely. I think mine is still in his cave at the moment. MrsMar, I think it's a really good tip not to talk about it all the time (I'm really bad at that!).

love to all

Hopeitwontbebig · 15/03/2007 10:43

I'm feeling very heavy this morning by all accounts

Anyone having constipation pains?? I've got IBS and it's been pretty bad past couple of days. Just had a very healthy fruit and veg homemade juice for breakfast. Change from my usual egg and cheese toasted muffin. Might have that for lunch instead

Hungry now.....

Nicki10 · 15/03/2007 11:16

Morning all

I suffer from IBS as well and it had disappeared since becoming pregnant but I had a bought of it at the weekend. I think it has settled now again though. Hope your does soon Hopeitwontbetobig.

Another thing that I thought had disappeared and took me by complete suprise just now was my morning sickness which showed it's ugly head all over my kitchen! Not good after cereal!! Didn't even make it to the bathroom. Oh well it has forced me to clean the kitchen

We are off to my parents this weekend for Mother's day and they are taking us out on Saturday night only I can't get into my clothes so maybe I'll have to buy some!. We are also going to tell DP's nan tomorrow who is 96 and will be over the moon to have a great grandchild so I can't wait to do that.

I hope the weather holds for the weekend, doesn't the sunshine make everything seem nicer and happier. Hoe you have a good day xxx

honey2theb · 15/03/2007 11:45

Morning!

I think i have stayed the same weight!! i def have a little bump though already! looks more like i ate too many pies though!
Does anyone lese get bigger as the day goes on???
dp told his nephew the news. hes 8 and the only grandchild. He told his mother that it was going to ruin his life. The in laws think its funny, and while i can understand him being a little jealous, i have to admit it upset me a little to think that they are going to make a big fuss of him and tell him hes the most special etc. am i being horrible? i even bought him a little pressie yesterday before i knew what he said! Hes a lovely little boy, but i wouldnt have expected him to come out with that! after my 2 mc's i'm feeling very protective already of this little one.

sorry i have gone on!!

oooh and btw whats the risk of mc after 16 weeks?? im getting paranoid ive told too many people now!

h xxxx

Holly29 · 15/03/2007 12:04

Hi Honey,

I am SO exactly the same with the bump getting bigger as the day goes on. I went swimming with DH last night (it is my vain attempt to stay healthy) and when he saw he in my cozzie he said 'it's grown so much!' but in fact this morning it had gone down again so maybe it's fluid retention or something....

8 year old nephews, honestly! Don't fret. Children say weird things. He will love the baby in due course, honest. Just keep happy yourself. xxx

laksa · 15/03/2007 12:07

Morning everyone,

The reason I asked about weight was that when I went to my midwife appointment last week they told me that I'd put on 1/2 stone. I was so mortified (wouldn't normally mind but since I got married I've put on 2 stone which on a 5ft 1 inch frame is quite substantial)as was hoping not to pile on the pounds too early. I only realised last night that I'd been wearing my winter coat and boots that day so probably was not accurate

They didn't seem to think the weight was a problem and just kept saying well you're obviously happy. I couldn't really hope to lose weight as the only thing which kept my ms at bay was eating stodge constantly!

Mrsmar, it is a bit like the yellowpages advert except that I'm hoping to keep the MG in our garage to bring out every now and then...just have to see if we can afford it, its quite expensive to insure.

fiofio, are you ok? think you should see a doctor just to be on the same side. Its probably low blood pressure?

Thats great Edie, must be nice to get some proof of something going on in there.

Nicki/Hopeitwon'tbebig, my sis suffers from ibs, she finds the more stressed she is the worse it gets. She also finds certain foods like mushrooms and bread can exaccerbate it. If you are constipated I don't think juice will help things to get moving as all the fibre has been removed. Maybe try some dried fruit like apricots/prunes or fruit like blackberries which can be more gentle than things like allbran etc. Or try a homemade smoothie with banana and strawberries?

oh, loopylouisa, we are looking into the renault laguna . You also reminded me that isofix points were on my list of wants, so thanks!

xx

laksa · 15/03/2007 12:12

Oh, has anyone been thinking about baby stuff yet. When I have nothing better to do I sometimes do searches for pushchairs.

So for all those with children already (and those who've been researching like me) do you have a recommendation for a good buggy? I've heard good things about the Microlite although you can't use it from birth...

Maybe I'm starting this conversation too early?

Nicki10 · 15/03/2007 12:25

Your not starting the comversation to early Laska I have already chosen all of my baby things including the pram, cot, cot bumper, nappies, sleeping bag, car seat and even leaving hospital outfits!!.

I have become obsessed with baby things and it's all I ever look at or talk about. My poor friends they're even cutting out bits of info in newspapers for me .

PurpleLostPrincess · 15/03/2007 12:29

I've been doing the same but I can't find purple buggies anywhere! I know they are out there but I can't seem to search properly in google for them... ;o(

I managed to get some maternity trousers for work from ebay but apart from that, I'm waiting a while before purchasing anything. We're just excited about maybe getting a purple buggy!

laksa · 15/03/2007 12:34

purpleprincess, I think the quinny has a purple version, but is is quite subtle more of a lilac...

Nick10, don't keep me in suspense, what is on your list The only thing I have really thought about is real nappies am looking at totsbots and bambineos?

xx

LoopyLouLisa · 15/03/2007 12:35

purple lost princess, i've got a purple 3-wheeler...

nh101 · 15/03/2007 12:59

I've put on 3lbs - your metabolism increases when PG so maybe that is why we are eating for Britain but not putting on too much weight! I weigh myself once a week cos I don't think it's good for your head to do it every day (I've done that before). In "What to expect when you're expecting" it says to try not to put on more than 1-2lb a week or you'll get horrid stretchmarks. So there's a good reason to say no to second helpings of dessert!

PMSL MrsMar about the pinhead! Me too - my three sisters call me peahead (they're just jealous cos I am the most attractive!! )

Honey I deffo get bigger as the day goes on and my bump is getting a little definition now. No movement yet but am getting pains which I think is the uterus growing (hope so anyway, could be indigestion as well tho!)

I think your nephew is being ridiculous and at 8 years old should know better (or be told!) I remember being eight (as we moved from Australia to England so that time in my life is very vivid) and I would never have been so immature. Sorry for the rant I just hate spoiled brats !! (but I am sure your nephew is lovely [hormones all over the place emotion])

Laksa - are you thinking about terry nappies? I am too but wonder whether the cleaning process meant it was just as bad for the environment and just as expensive.

Anyone else totally bored of work and can't wait to finish for ML? I go through stages of really making the most of work while I can (as this is my first baby) and then wishing for it to be Sept with my baby!

honey2theb · 15/03/2007 13:05

yip im bored of work soooo bored of it!

I agree that 8 is old enough - its just that they ALL mollycoddle him! He is normally a really polite little boy. I think he needs to be told off for it instead of given special attention too.

Hmmm i like to have a sneaky peek at buggies etc. im scared its jinxing to do it too much tho
im thinking terry nappies too. i read some where that if you have enough of them, and rinse them well etc you can get away with one or 2 washes a week, so its not really bad for the environment. i'm interested to hear whet evryone else thinks of them too

Pennypops · 15/03/2007 13:18
