Due to recent sad news and at the suggestion of others, I have started this new thread. Let's hear everyone's news.......

Evening All,

Just done the predictor thing and it was right - a boy!

MrsMar - I put in -8 like you said.

Hope there's going to be a few more boys to keep me company soon. I'm feeling a bit left out amongst all you girlies!

Canadianmum - I'm interested in pregnancy yoga too, let us know what it was like.

I'm thinking about getting the natal hypnotherapy CD's (anything to try and make giving birth a bit less painful. Has anyone tried them or know anyone who has? Be interested to know if they work. I saw Derren Brown on C4 last week make someone think they were a ventriloquists (sure that spelling's not quite right!) dummy, shut up in box and therefore they couldn't see a thing so I'm sure the mind is powerful enough to believe that it's not really hurting. Maybe I'll just get him to be my birth partner instead of dh!

FlossALump · 26/04/2007 08:28

The chinese predictor thing was right for DS and if the sonographer was right, right for this time too, as long as I had the -8 time difference in. HAve to say though, I don't know the day I concieved with either DS (who we weren't trying for) or this baby (which we were - neither of us can actually remember having sex at all that month... ) But then who do any of us actually know for sure the day we concieved???

MrsFish · 26/04/2007 08:58

Hi Minimenace

My boobs have gone from a 36B to a 38D so far

Good luck for your scan today, if you get chance drop me a mail, I'm off for the weekend but should pick it up before I go

MrsFish · 26/04/2007 09:01

Ah - I have just done the test again, and put in the -8 and changed my conception date to a bit closer to the truth as I used LMP date first time round, and this time it says it will be a boy I hope so.

canadianmum · 26/04/2007 10:06

Hi all, pregnancy yoga was good, if a bit long at 1.75 hours. Did lots of talking about childbirth and how medicalised it is in this country compared to Holland where they evidently have a 50% home birth rate. My yoga teacher says that because women in Holland expect labour to be straightforward they are more relaxed and therefore do have easier labours. Whereas here in Britain we expect it to be difficult and painful and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Very interesting.

Besides the talking we also did a lot of breathing and relaxation exercises which was really nice and also some positions for labour such as on all fours and standing and swinging hips etc... The teacher had a model pelvis and baby and showed us how the baby fits through the pelvis so much more easily when you are squatting or on all fours rather than on your back. I already knew most of this from first time round but still good to have it reinforced.

I went to a different sort of class for my first pregnancy and that was a lot more exercise based but I liked that one too. It is nice for us second timers or third timers to have a chance to focus on our unborn babes for at least an hour a week because they don't get much of a look in the rest of the time!

Hi Canadianmum, the yoga class sounds great, glad it went well. I guess we live pretty close, do you mind me being cheeky and asking where you went please? I'm all for anything that makes it easier!

My sister told me today I'm waddling. I hadn't even noticed!!! I don't even had a very big bump, perhaps I've developed a strange walk to keep my maternity jeans up!

xx

Hopeitwontbebig · 26/04/2007 13:05

Afternoon ladies....

Had a shopping morning. Got a posh ball to go to next Saturday. Spent about 2 hours in Mamas and Papas trying on clothes. They've got some lovely things. I wanted to get a dress though, but nothing looked right. Some made me look fat and not pregnant, others showed every lump and bump on me - not the pregnant lumps and bumps I might add! I have to say it wasn't an enjoyable experience spending so much time in front of a full length mirror - OMG cellulite city!!!

Any suggestions? Quick, only got a week to buy!!

Has anyone bought that fetal listening/recording thingy from Argos or Blooming Marvellous. You know, the one that you strap round your tummy and listen with headphones? It says it can be used from 21 weeks or something. I hired a doppler for a month but it needs to go back today, or else I hire for another month @ £17. Thing from Argos is £21. Figured I could sell it on ebay afterwards. What do ya think?

I had a look at the Mamas and Papas Sport 03 3 wheeler pram. Think it's probably the best option as we go walking in woods, on beach etc. Would you agree?

JoJoBebemam or whatever it's called do some nice bits and Isabella Oliver. Look em up on google.

I keep getting really excited at the thought of no 3. I was having such a fab morning kissing and loving my girls and then suddenly thought, oh wow, I'm gonna have all this same amount of love for someone else come September, how bloody exciting!

Hi Mrsmar, the yoga teacher's name is Lesley Ann Kerr and I go to the class on Webbs Rd SW11. She also does classes at Cannons on Sheepcote Lane SW11. Hope that helps!

Hello ladies!

I've got a great story for you! This morning I got the bus to work (I can walk, but was feeling tired ) and as usual there were no places to sit, so I stood up. Of course, no one offered me a seat, but then my bump is still quite small, so I didn't really mind.

Our bus driver was driving really fast, and as we swung round one corner, I lost my balance and accidentally fell against a lady who was sitting down on a seat. She was quite young. I said sorry and as I regained my balance, and turned my back to her, she gave me a massive shove in the back, whilst saying "Don't you ever do that again, or I'll smack you one"... (yes I do live in London). Needless to say, I flew across the bus and fell onto one knee (I was fine) but all I could say to people helping me up was "I'm pregnant" - totally instinctively. Then everyone who hard started saying 'She's pregnant' and everyone started shouting at the woman who shoved me:
"Are you mad? She's pregnant!" abd
"Crazy b*ch" and all sorts. One guy was actually waving his fist in her face.
The driver stopped the bus as there was so much commotion and when he found out what had happened, he threw her off the bus!!!

Hurrah!!! I was so pleased but was v embarassed indeed but then everyone did get up to offer me a seat after that...

Just thought I would share. Just goes to show that people do care if you are pregnant!

MrsMar · 26/04/2007 15:39

ooh marvellous canadianmum, thanks for that! I live on Northcote Road so Webbs road is perfect for me!

HIWBB - do you need to be full length for your ball? I've just got through the post a dress from jojomamanbebe which I'm going to wear at a friends wedding in a few weeks. It's the plum silk one
thisone
It's quite nice, but might not be smart enough for a ball.
I've found so many maternity dresses are empire line, and I've not got the greatest arms so I'm going to wear a pashmina or something (and maybe a bit of fake tan!) It depends on your shape and colouring I guess. Those empire line dresses make me look 9 months gone, but I'm not confident enough to get away with one of those body concious figure hugging numbers on isabella oliver!

From Here to Maternity also have some smarter cocktail type dresses that might be ok. Again, it depends if you want to go full length or not... fromheretomaternity

Tiffany Rose maternity is another one doing maternity evening dresses tiffanyrose but they are quite expensive.

God I hope these linky things work, I can never get them right!!!

Hope that helps x

MrsMar · 26/04/2007 15:42

Blimey those links did work! wonders will never cease!

Mad story Holly! What a crazy cow to have shoved you in the first place! I do love it when people get their comeuppance! I was on the tube the other day when some sulky teenager pushed past me to the only available seat, she did look sheepish when a bloke offered me his seat. I spent the whole journey patting my bump (and pushing it out a bit!) to make her feel worse

TeeCee · 26/04/2007 15:45

oh my GOD Holly
So glad you are ok and so glad everyone came down on her in the way they did.

When I was pregnant with DD1 a car massively cut me up and did a mad overtaking thing on me. I beeped my horn as if to say 'oi you nutter!' and he swered to a halt and blocked my car so I couldn't drive. I had to slam on my brakes and syop. i wsa so enraged I got out (silly but hormonal) He stormed up to me and then as his mouth opened to shout his eyes dropped to my huge belly and he jusy stood there and said 'oh' and then turned round and got back in his car and rove normally for the rest of the time he was in front of me!

I just scalded my mouth drinking really hot tea so baby would react to hot liquid, it worked and it was great. Really starting to feel it a lot now these last few days. Had felt odd flutter before and little movements but now these are proper movements

TeeCee · 26/04/2007 15:51

ohhh love those last 2 link MrsMar.
Might have to get abit busy with the old card!

MrsMar · 26/04/2007 16:03

I know, they are nice aren't they tc? I couldn't bear the endless nagging I'd get from my mum if I'd bought a £200 dress to wear once though, especially as I've now just booked our builder to do our new bathroom in June (just a small matter of £5000 to find now!!!) I'm very excited at the prospect of having a new bathroom. And it means everything else can get done afterwards, whole house painted, carpets properly cleaned, we can actually then do the baby's room. And it all depended on an ever so slightly unreliable builder! eek!

ThomCat · 26/04/2007 16:22

i love this!

ThomCat · 26/04/2007 16:29

and this and this and this for the hot summer ahead - justify - justify

ThomCat · 26/04/2007 16:31

bugger sorry - Thomcat was my original mumnsnet name, it's TeeCee still!

FlossALump · 26/04/2007 18:29

Holly that sounds awful! I am glad you are ok. Remember the toils of london transport. Now just trying to contend with Bristol buses. Not pleasant still but less traumatic than london so far.

Had quite a lot of tummy pain today. Was really hoping I would be able to chill after the scan and enjoy what, if the sonographer was right, will be my last pg. I'm sure it is either early BH or else I have a UTI after my full bladder for so long with my scan. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow!

I showed you the dress I got from Jojomamenbebe for some weddings on a link a lot further down. I wore it a couple of weeks ago and it was a bit saggy at the boobs. Am hoping by the end of June (next wedding!) i'll fill it out better. Am in a D cup already though so hardly scanty up top!

How close are we to that 1000?

MrsFish · 26/04/2007 18:57

Three off after this post

canadianmum · 26/04/2007 19:13

I was thinking maybe we should have a separate thread for stats (due dates and scan dates).

I will start one anyway and then if it doesn't get used it doesn't really matter.

OP posts:
canadianmum · 26/04/2007 19:18

Hi All,

Scan went well .... sorry no confirmation we are going to wait for a suprise. although the guys in my office are convinced I am having a boy as in one of the scan pictures he looks like he is drinking a pint.

:Wavey: Mrs Fish. I'll email you my scans and phone you again soon.

I have spent £375 on Bras so far, someone should start up a maternity bra rental service .... lol
