MrsMar · 09/03/2007 21:06

Hi MMooMar - it is great to see the little fella, I keep checking the picture to see if it's true!

Hi Spangly, welcome!!!

Holly - I'm so glad no one has tried to grope me, I'm not really big so I think people just think I'm a bit fat and flabby! I went to see my friend today and she couldn't take her eyes off my boobs though, they are so ginormous!!!! Honestly, they enter the room ten minutes before I do!!! I might object to anyone other that dh and absolute best friends to gawp at my huge norks!!!!

EdieMcredie · 10/03/2007 09:28

Is anyone else feeling absolutely exhausted?

MMooMar · 10/03/2007 10:23

Morning all,
Edie, Today I feel shattered, huge and pee`ed off cos I am having trouble finding anything that I can fit into without it digging in somewhere!

Time to go shopping for some mat clothes I fear....oh so do not feel in the mood for that today!

minimenace · 10/03/2007 10:39

Hello All,

I'm new here today, MrsFish pointed me in the right direction.

I had my dating scan on Thursday and I'm due on 15th September making me 13 weeks today. This will be my first.
I actually started to believe there was a baby growing inside me after the scan it was so amazing.

I'm hoping the morning sickness will ease up soon. This seems like such a great place to share experiences.

PurpleLostPrincess · 10/03/2007 11:05

Hello!

Can I join in officially? I'm due on 22nd Sept and I'm 12 weeks today. Having a scan on Tuesday afternoon... I did post on one of these before but haven't been able to find it again lol! (pg brain!?).

Have had hyperemesis thingymewatsit but I think it's fading now, just feel really tired all the time. I'm frightened to stop taking the anti-sickness tablets in case it all comes back!

Has anybody elses belly exploded in the last week? It's not my uterus, I just seem to have lots of water retention and can't get comfortable...?

All the best to everybody on here xxx

emalushka · 10/03/2007 16:05

Hello everyone, great idea to start a new thread. I'm feeling a bit out of sorts as
a friend who was 4 weeks behind me had a mc yesterday. I am so upset for her - it was her 3rd mc. Now really worried about my little one and trying my best to be a supportive friend without her thinking I'm being smug. I'm finding myself really thinking about what to say before I say it, but then it doesn't sound like me. I don't know.
I know what you mean about people touching you, and thinking that it is okay. Ha Ha. It's funny. So many people have been rubbing my belly and saying 'ohhh, you are showing...' In a weird kind of way, I quite like it. I tend to make a joke of it and lift my top up to show people, and then they recoil in horror at the sight of my big jelly belly. Maybe I'm just an exhibitionist though.
Unfortunately, my bump is just from eating too much, not a baby bump. I've got cravings for sticky toffee puddings, which doesn't help at all!
Take care everyone.. waiting in anticipation to 'bloom' - whatever that means!! Teecee where are you? I really enjoy reading your messages.

Nettee · 10/03/2007 17:37

Edie - I am feeling exhausted too. really couldn't make the supermarket today so it is coming via the internet tomorrow - don't know what we are going to eat tonight though

Laksa - I keep meaning to say that I was glad to see that your midwives were going to support your home birth, that is great news.

Lots of us being scanned on Tuesday it seems - fingers crossed for good news all round

spangly · 10/03/2007 18:53

Thanks for the warm welcome and for adding me to the list.
Emalushka - sorry to hear about your friend. That must be a hard situation to deal with. I'm sure your friend really appreiciates your support and doesn't think you're being smug.

I haven't experienced people wanting to touch my 'bump' yet but I think that's because I just look like I've eaten too many cakes - which I have This poor baby is going to come out wanting junk food. It's all I'm craving.

I hope all goes well for those with upcoming scans.

sophus · 11/03/2007 15:12

hi all
Haven't posted for ages, mainly due to laziness. Still sick, but its just part of life now - can't believe what you get used to. Now just exhausted and fat. Had my dad and step-mother to stay for w/end. And spent last weekend with in-laws. MIL told me not to worry when i had pudding on sat night as i could always start a diet next week! She dieted throughout her entire pregnancy and seems to think it is a good thing. Nearly punched her. My father spent this weekend telling my boyfriend he should marry me - oh what fun watching him squirm. My step-mother has 22 grandchildren so spent the w/end giving me more advice than i knew what to do with.
Going to spend rest of afternoon planning holidays for those last weeks of freedom.
love to you all and welcome newbies.

missmapp · 11/03/2007 18:16

Hi, havent posted for ages. it was my Ds 2nd b.day today, so we had all the family over and had a lovely day. His party was on thurs and he had 8 of his little friends over, thank god the sun was shinning, they could all play outside and there were no tears! It was great watching thme playing so nicely together, and made me think of how quickly they grow( its mostly my antenatal grp so weve been together since the early days - and cnat believe another one wil be joining them soon ( especially when i think of what i was doing 2 yrs ago - i must be mad-.

Hope everyones scans go well and give reassurance wheere needed.

Time to go and sweep all the sand out of my house - sandpits, who'd have 'em!

TOD · 11/03/2007 22:15

Hi all, i am also having scan on tues morning..am nervous but excited...and am glad it is sooner rather than later!!!
I am also getting quite big now and will be in maternity clothes very soon....last time i was 16 or 17 weeks before i needed them , I am now only 13 weeks and look as if I'm 5 months gone.....Hopefully thats a good sign!
Am still nauseous too......last time it had gone at this stage...oh well..hope it goes soon!!!!!!!
Good luck to all with upcoming scans xxx

MrsMar · 12/03/2007 00:28

Hello to all the new additions, congratulations and welcome!!

I'm feeling sooo terrible tonight, I'm on my first (of five) night shifts, I've got a stinking cold and praying that we have a really quiet night so I can snooze a little in my chair! Seriously thinking about asking to be taken off nights from now on. I only do them once in 8 weeks, but the next time I do them I'll 21 weeks and 29 weeks gone, and I'm sure I'll be far too knackered. It's killing me now!

I hope everyone else is feeling well, I'm still squeezing in to my old clothes, but I do have to undo a button or two when I sit down for any length of time! The sense of relief I got from finally finding comfortable maternity bras for my huuuuge norks has now been replaced by a general discomfort due to expanding waist. My mum thinks that I should diet too, apparently she thinks I should be able to get through this pregnancy without putting on any weight (which will mean effectively losing 2 stone while pregnant!) Yeah right, she had her babies 30 odd years ago, she wasn't working when she was pregnant, and she certainly didn't have to do night shifts! I did try telling her about my neeeeeed for carbs during nights, but she thinks I'm exagerrating. Hmmmmmmm!

xx

toadstool · 12/03/2007 09:19

Morning all. Woke up today with burning red rash all over cheeks! Am going to see the GP. Can't think what it might be (unsuspected intolerance to stewed rhubarb????) Raaah, I love pregnancy, it's so DIGNIFIED, piles, burping, parping, now the plague...

Holly29 · 12/03/2007 09:23

Hiya to all the new people, and GOOD LUCK to everyone who is having their scan tomorrow (like me). I'm not sure how I am going to get through today, I am so nervous!

Told the PIL over the weekend and they were really pleased in the end (FIL even shed a wee tear!) although MIL couldn't resist a sly dig along the lines of "Oh, we were really beginning to worry that our DS would remain childless forever" - this a reference to the fact that we've been together for almost 8 years and have waited until I am 33 and he is 40 to have kids.

Honestly!

MrsMar, I think you definitely need to stop doing nights! The one time you should be really looking after yourself is now. Make sure you ask.

As for dieting during pregnancy, I think that sounds MAD. I think the body is quite clever at telling you what it needs and if you need to eat, you need to eat!

Nicki10 · 12/03/2007 09:31

Morning All

Hope you are all well and the morning sickness is finally starting to hold off.

I have my nuchal scan in an hour and I'm very nervous. More that I will go and find that the baby has fallen out !.

I am also very scared of the blood test as with my previous pregnancy everytime they took blood I fainted!.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and enjoys the sunshine.

xxx

toadstool · 12/03/2007 09:38

I don't know if this helps Mrs Mar but 30-40 years ago women were often put on strict diets and told to put on no more weight (that was my mum's experience in France, so perhaps that was your Mum's too). However now the attitude seems different - 5 yrs ago, my midwives refused to weigh me after the 1st booking-in appt, and simply said 'if you're worried about your weight, exercise. Don't deprive yourself of any food groups.' Seemed sensible enough.

Hopeitwontbebig · 12/03/2007 09:41

TOD - good luck with your scan tomorrow. Seems to be a busy day tomorrow for scans!

Toadstool, hope you get your face sorted!!!!

MrsMar, oh hope you can stop doing night's, that's just not fair, poor thing!

Holly, been thinking about you, I was so lucky last week to have it early, my scan would have been tomorrow, what time are you having it?

Nicki, gooooooooood luck! Make sure you look away when they're taking your blood, I think the anticipation is always the worst bit!

I'm going to start a thread about juicer recipes. I bought one at the weekend, despite my DH INSISTING that it'll end up in the back of a cupcoard, need to prove him wrong. I'm a complete novice and am looking for recipes.

Holly29 · 12/03/2007 10:37

Nicki, good luck and post soon!

Thanks everyone! I'm having the blood test at 10am and the scan at 10.30am, so will post tomorrow afternoon...

x

Luxmum · 12/03/2007 11:20

Ohh, someone kindly told me about this thread, can I join too please?! I'm about 13 weeks gone now, due the 17th September. My scan isn't till next month, so am a bit peeved at having to wait so long to see how the Bean's grown. I've got a DS already who is 17 months, so don't want to know what this one is. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Hi all,

Apologies for not posting for a while been too busy eating (constantly!)

My dating scan is today and I'm extremely nervous. My biggest worry is that I've not had any MS or aversions to smells - everyone keeps telling me that I should count myself lucky not to be suffering with MS etc, but I just can't help but worry

Good luck to you ladies having scans this week I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well for you
