brio I am sorry to hear about your mum, it must be so so hard... perhaps try and think if it as a positive thing, if possible? Maybe think of your mum as a sort of guardian angel for the baby? Sorry if that sounds a bit woo and flippant.

kitkat you put it well. Most people associate hospitals with negative experiences and it's hard to get past that when having a baby is meant to be a happy time.

So lovely to hear about everyone's scans. Really feel like the weeks are finally picking up a bit of speed now. In the past couple of weeks we have had our scan and NIPT results. All is well with the baby. My due date has now changed to the 8th October and we are having a GIRL!!

Birolover - I've spoken to my midwife about my feeling and concerns about it, so long as I have a healthy and normal pregnancy and there's no complications, like breech, then I'll be able to give birth at my local hospital on the island instead of having to go back there. However I do have to go for my scans as there isn't a technician / equipment on the island.

Without going into too much details as it's identifying:
I had a perfect pregnancy until I went into be inducted - they picked up that DD heart rate was dropping with contractions, I developed sepsis and my DD and I almost died, I was given a 'sweep' to help dilate my cervix that requires two nurses to hold me down as the Dr was so rough, DD was taken away at birth to be given an IV and checked over due to the heart rate dropping, when she was brought back weren't allowed the magic hour for breastfeeding, DP was sent home when DD was 3 hrs old while, I woke up at one point by a couple talking other side of the curtain and DD was gone!! the nurse had taken her out of her cot and left the room! I freaked out and when the nurse brought DD back told me that she'd been crying but I needed rest and she'd "let the other nurses have a hold because she was so cute". At no point had I given consent for her to be lifted never mind taken out of the room and passed around!

This is the same hospital that my DF died in after contracting sepsis after a failed op to remove part of his bowel due to the Crohn's disease that he'd been treated for for 4 years ... he actually had a neuroendocrine tumour.

I can totally identify with those feelings about hospital, so much so that I'm having baby at a different hospital than DS despite receiving good care at the hospital and it being slightly closer. Ive already been having flashbacks about his birth and feel that going into that hospital to give birth again just wouldn't be good for me. Going to a different hospital feels like a new start.

I had my scan today, all ok which was such a relief but they couldn't do the nuchal measurement because it was wriggling so much so back next week for a quad test.

Feels much more real now and I have spent the afternoon buying maternity clothes on Asos!

I've got a bump at 12 weeks with my first, thought it was bloating but it's staying and pretty solid and am now wearing maternity jeans / leggings for comfort, everything normal made me feel sick. I think it's because I have poor core muscles due to a previous back operation. It's meant there is nothing tight holding it all in. Hated it at first as felt fat but embracing it now as my OH loves it

yellow I'm so sorry to hear your update

I've only just started showing, pretty much bang on 15 weeks. Just appeared overnight like everyone told me it would ha. Not a huge bump and still quite squashy, def just look bloated to the untrained eye but I know it's def a bump as so far I have lost half a stone since being pregnant! Has anyone else lost weight? I think it's because I've been eating healthier and exercising more but I thought I'd just remain the same.

I have a really stupid question. I really want to get my highlights done (not had them done for ages and feeling really frumpy and crappy). Is it safe??? I am 12+4 according to scan. Internet keeps throwing up different opinions, just wondered if anyone else could shed some light...

Definitely not lost weight. Put on at least two kg! Told myself I'd do better this time as put on 3 stone with ds and I was a size 10 before I had him. Only ever got back to a 12 afterwards. But I'm so hungry!

I've lost about half a stone maybe more. My stomach is so bloated though so you can't tell.

Hello can I join you all? Edd oct 31, had an early scan which was all good, 12w scan on Tuesday. This is #2, have one girl 19m.

Yellow look after yourself

Gimble yeah I lost weight ~a stone but that was due to sickness and existing on about a quarter of my usual calories 😂 it's settled down a bit now and I might even have put on a little this past week as I'm now able to eat about 3 bowls of cereal a day and toast!

As for a bump my body shape changed quite early and although it just looks like flab it is more solid so must be bump now at 14weeks. I never did any exercise pre-pregnancy so imagine my core muscles aren't very good 😂

Also I am hopeless at mumsnet but a serial facebooked me, and have a wonderful group of dd's age mumsnet mums so if there's a fb group I'd love to join it. Being superstitious I might wait though until after my scan
