Good luck to all with scans today, I have a good feeling about them all!

Is anyone else still feeling sick? Mine seemed to get better for a while but has been back since Sunday. I tend to feel ok when I first wake up but then I eat and it creeps up after that, getting worse throughout the day.. I know it can continue for a couple more weeks (or longer if you're unlucky) but I'm just so fed up with it and just want to feel normal again.

10storeylovesong · 11/04/2017 11:42

thatgirl I'm still throwing up every day. I can't wait for it to stop, it's really getting me down now.

mummabubs · 11/04/2017 11:58

@ThatGirl82 yup, I'm 14+3 and still being sick every morning as soon as I get up and then usually feeling differing (but ever present) feelings of nausea throughout the day. I said to DH last night (whilst leaning over the toilet bowl) that it's really starting to get rather boring now and I'm just desperate to feel like me again. Hopefully our bodies will soon get the second trimester message and give us glow in abundance. (My skin is the worst its ever been and my hair is managing to be both greasy and dandruffy in one go... I look like a troll). 😂

10storeylovesong · 11/04/2017 12:18

I'm really not holding out much hope - I was sick every day until giving birth with ds and beginning to think this time will be the same. I'm 15+2 now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I think my friends are losing patience with me as I'm constantly making excuses not to do things, especially in the evening or that involves food. I've just done 40 mins of ironing and completely overheated and felt like I was going to pass out which resulted in more vomiting. My house is an absolute state, my social life is non existent, I'm performing badly at work and spent the morning watching Disney films with ds as no energy to do anything else and trying to keep him quiet as dh is in bed as on nights. I'm supposed to be meeting friends with their kids this afternoon for some Mad Hatters tea party and I can't even be bothered to brush my hair.

Sorry for the rant - really feeling the effects of it all now.

boxesoffrogs · 11/04/2017 12:25

Just got back from my scan... we have a baby! Woohoo! Wriggling about and being difficult for the sonographer (who was the grumpiest woman on the planet, I might add).

Was terrifying, she didn't say anything at all for what felt like eternity before finally confirming that baby was ok... it wouldn't play ball though and I had to do some sort of twerking to get it to move! DP got to see all the wriggling though.

EDD has moved back to 22nd now though, so wasn't quite as I had calculated. Ah well, just so relieved that all is ok. Didn't get any sleep last night at all!

Good luck to all of you also scanning today!

mummabubs · 11/04/2017 12:38

Boxesoffrogs Glad your scan went well and maybe we had the same sonographer- mine was also the most surly miserable woman alive! 😂

10Storey Don't apologise. I can really empathise and think you're justified in feeling like life's a bit shit right now. Fingers crossed it does ease up for both of us. My mum and all of my friends who have been down this road before had completely sick-free pregnancies so are slightly dismayed at just how rubbish I've been at life lately! It will end eventually, I just keep telling myself that!!

boxesoffrogs · 11/04/2017 13:21

mumma if you are in London then maybe so. You would think they might be a bit more sensitive! She asked me why I looked so scared and told me it wasn't like she was going to operate on me (which is sort of how I felt, to be honest!) ah well, guess she sees it every day and is very busy, she did say after what felt like an eternity of silence that she didn't talk much when she was concentrating, and baby was being an awkward little bugger, so guess it was just me being overanxious.

Hope you start to feel better soon lovestorey, I seem to have got away without any sickness and only a bit of nausea which weirdly has only kicked in over the last few weeks...

88claire · 11/04/2017 15:18

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good excuse evidence of the sonographers. That's terrible! I'm a children's nurse and despite how I'm feeling I always try to have a smile on my face and reassure anxious parents! It's so important!

I'm in central London but I had a lovely male sonographer who I actually hugged and my partner shook his hand at the end of the scan (we were so relieved all was ok) despite having to come back in two weeks for the nuchal to be repeated. He was so reassuring and warm. Seems like he could teach some of them a thing or two!

You could always leave feedback... You never know they might not know they seemed grumpy!

colourmylife · 11/04/2017 15:37

Everything fine with my scan too. Measuring at 13 weeks which puts me forward a week but I actually don't think that's physically possible so will be sticking with the 23rd for now.

Hahah boxes I had to get up off the bed and jump up and down and shake my hips too. Was hilarious.

pollybythesea · 11/04/2017 16:36

That's great news colour and boxes and everyone else who has had scans today- lots of star jumps and wiggling here too but all good in the end! And a lovely sonographer phew!

GimbleInTheWabe · 11/04/2017 16:43

Ooooh so this is where you all are! Thought everyone had left me for the Facebook group!!
Thanks for the new thread! Also my EDD is 2nd October now just for the next list, thank you!

Emberblu · 11/04/2017 16:46

10storey I know what you mean! Everyone keeps saying it'll get better soon (these people who did t have any sickness at all!) and then they mention ginger tea and I feel bad for getting annoyed at them...
I've forgotten what it's like to be normal and feel constantly guilty saying 'no' when DH suggests we do something/go somewhere. He has been so so helpful and understanding but I worry he'll start getting annoyed if this goes on much longer (he's too lovely to but it's still my guilt talking). I can't bring myself to shower/get dressed some days and feel even more guilty!
You're amazing for dealing with this AND looking after your ds AND working so you should remind yourself you're bloody superwoman!!!

Emberblu · 11/04/2017 16:50

And same to the rest still feeling sick Flowers
14weeks today and although the vomiting was down to once a day (with constant nausea and off ALL food) it's just gone back up to 3 gooduns a day over the last few days yaaaaay! Lots of people say 16 weeks is another milestone and so sickness might go down a bit then... god I hope so!

pollybythesea · 11/04/2017 17:13

Really feeling for you guys ember and 10 and others who are still sick. You are doing great !! Hopefully you get a break soon, mine faded quite slowly so I didn't really trust it was going away! (Still dont some days!)

ThatGirl82 · 11/04/2017 17:44

Oh I'm sorry to hear your are still so sick Ember and 10... It sounds as though you are much worse than me as I'm not actually being sick, just feeling nauseous. Today has been easier as I've worked from home so been able to eat when and what I fancy. Just had some chicken super noodles which have satisfied me for the time being.

I bought my boyfriend a book called The Expectant Dad's Handbook earlier, picked it quickly as felt really faint in Waterstones... I've had a flick through and it seems pretty good and gives lots of tips as to how partners can support you through pregnancy and labour Smile

ThatGirl82 · 11/04/2017 17:46

Glad to hear more positive scan news too! Although sorry about the grumpy sonographers, they really should understand that it's an anxious time for people and give reassurance.

boxesoffrogs · 11/04/2017 18:43

88 you sound like a lovely nurse! DP put it in a diplomatic way and said 'well at least she was efficient', which I suppose is true!

Off out for dinner now for DP's belated birthday and I have been hit by two rather depressing realisations 1) that I have nothing to wear (belly looks v swollen and can see it under a jumper - strange as according to dates today I am only 12+2 rather than the original 13, although, can 5 days really make that much difference?!) and 2) we really have to stop spending money. Nearly fell over when I looked at the price of your average peak/buggy, let alone the medium to higher end range. And don't even want to think about the other stuff. I guess we weren't planning for this to happen so quickly so haven't really started setting anything aside. Time for some credit crunching.

Glad all went well with scans today, and good luck to those tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Hope you poorly ones are feeling as well as possible, and that it ends soon, I really do. It sounds miserable Flowers

10storeylovesong · 11/04/2017 20:50

Thanks all, I had a bit of a meltdown at dh earlier. The poor thing has just got up from nights and got in the bath to wake up and had a blubbering, sobbing, vomiting mess in the bathroom with him. He said he didn't realise how bad I'd been feeling and that I'd been putting too good a front on?! I feel a bit better for having a sob.

Glad to see some more good scan news today!

emmaluggs · 11/04/2017 21:03

I've had a stonking headache since Sunday, hoping it shifts soon. 15 weeks for me tomorrow Smile

missm0use · 11/04/2017 23:32

Had meltdown at the door to the hospital for our scan today, shaking, crying and generally just terrified to go in the door. Scan went well, despite my fears, and now I finally have a due date of the 16th instead of the 19th that I thought I was.

Thanks for all your good wishes, not sure I'd have got through today without them.

KitKatSplat · 12/04/2017 07:09

Re: traumatic experiences at scans.... I think what a lot of people forget it, for most women, fortunately, they've gone their whole conscious lives free of medical intervention and tests and hospital trips. I haven't been inside a hospital since I was born! Just because we're pregnant doesn't mean we're all suddenly super chill and OK in a clinical environment.

BrioLover · 12/04/2017 07:10

@missm0use sorry to hear you had such a hard start to your scan - glad to hear it went well though! Hopefully for the next one you'll find it easier as you know what to expect etc.

I've added you to the list Smile

OP posts:
missm0use · 12/04/2017 07:15

Thanks bird lover wasn't the scan I was worried about, it was the hospital. I had an awful experience there when I gave birth to my DD and just the thought of going back in the same building was awful.

BrioLover · 12/04/2017 07:30

Ahh missm0use that I can totally relate to. Flowers

The hospital I'm going to be at is where my mum had all her cancer treatment before she died when I was pregnant with DS. I hate that I know it well, I hate that she was in there. I have this impending feeling of doom whenever I go.

Have you spoken with your midwife about your feelings? I'd hope that you could ensure you weren't in the same room for example, and that things are put in place to ensure the same thing doesn't happen again.
