@mummabubs my manager has been quite awkward so far. With midwife appointments only being between 1 and 3 on Mondays, I try and make them as late as possible, but with the hour commute it all adds up and my manager acts like I am inconveniencing the company greatly. She's mentioned me driving to my appointment then driving back to work for like an hour or so then to do my commute home again.

ButterflyGem · 04/07/2017 12:49

@leannejade sounds like my place so frustrating they act like that xx

greentreeseverywhere · 04/07/2017 17:34

this might be bit tmi but I want to check I'm not some weirdo!! I have so much gunk in my knickers. it's so much worse when the weathers warmer it's horrible and disgusting. I feel like I've wet myself sometimes Sad
iv also had lots of weird aches and pains today and babies not been as active just wondering if it's having a grow and is tired

GimbleInTheWabe · 04/07/2017 21:03

How far along are you @greentreeseverywhere? Last week (would've been 26ish weeks) I felt like my boy was being less active and think he must have been going through a growth spurt as the last few days he's been kicking away lots again, even when I'm walking around! I also got more aches and tightness across my bump during the 'growing' faze too.

Must admit I've found my pants are a bit messier too Blush I've been making sure to do my pelvic floor exercises too as I've noticed my bladder getting weaker. The joys of pregnancy hey!

greentreeseverywhere · 04/07/2017 22:36

iam 26 weeks!! so I'm going with the growing theory!! thanks GimbleInTheWabe
I had my first pregancy yoga this evening and while breathing and holding our tummies we had to send a message to the baby and smiles. I told it to be strong and start kicking again!!+ iv had a few reassuring kicks since then xx

greentreeseverywhere · 05/07/2017 18:03

it hasn't stopped moving today after me worrying!!! this pregnancy is giving me anxiety!!!

KitKatSplat · 06/07/2017 11:48

Well, spoke to the midwife and it sounds like I have a trapped nerve :/ Off to the physio for me! Also said something interesting - from 25 weeks, if you're not feeling the baby moving a few times a day, I should contact the hospital. Yikes! Good to know because if it ever happened to me (hopefully not) I would leave it 2-3 days.

mummabubs · 06/07/2017 17:08

I've just been referred to physio this afternoon too KitKat, back pain is now sufficiently bad that I'm willing to consider drugs but according to GP my only two options are paracetamol or cocodamol (which I never want to take if I can avoid it!) Just chugged some paracetamol and praying that stops it for a bit.

KitKatSplat · 06/07/2017 21:06

Sorry to hear that bubs. I had cocodamol years ago and it made me feel absolutely awful. I'm curious to find out if that means labour painkillers like pethidine are a bad idea for me as they are part of the same "family."

Just did some light research on this pain I have... I THOUGHT the midwife said it sounded like sciatica, but it sounds like this is quite a rare thing and I am not experiencing numbness, tingling, or pain in my leg (it's a sharp short pain just to the left of the base of my spine whenever I am straightening up.) Sounds more like something called PDP?? Anyone got any experience of either of these?

mummabubs · 06/07/2017 21:41

Sounds nasty KitKat, I hope you get effective pain relief. My ex was addicted to codeine (the active ingredient in cocodamol) and watching them withdraw was horrendous- you can become addicted in as little as 3 days so I'm very reticent to take it. That and I just don't like the idea of taking opioids! Same reason I don't want pethidine in labour 😊 I've tried hot water bottle and bought a yoga ball so hopefully that will help a bit! GP said it's likely to stay and just get worse as the weeks go on so I'm hoping to create a solution in the interim that isn't signing off sick!

ThreeFour · 07/07/2017 08:36

I'm sorry to hear people are having trouble with pain - though I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one! I was worrying that I was being a bit of a wimp, complaining about back pain so soon - though I swear those clever ergonomic office chairs aren't helping us either. Does anyone know how to adjust them properly?

And can we all just agree that this heat is unbearable? It takes me about 90 minutes on the bus to get home from work and yesterday was just torture. Luckily, a director insisted that I work from home today (my line manager, who works from home himself, insists that I only work from home when I have an appointment in the middle of the day). But I still can't wait for the weather to cool down a bit.

boxesoffrogs · 07/07/2017 17:23

threefour I concur, this heat is horrible! No breeze, it's not actually sunny, just horrible oppressive mugginess. Think I have moaned mentioned before that my work place has no air conditioning either, so double yuck. Boss has still not deigned to get me a fan... feel I should probably complain but won't get me very far they have been extremely difficult about my maternity leave, and pretty sure what they are doing is illegal, can't go into detail in case I out myself or they are spying, it's like bloody 1984.
In other news, picked up the pram yesterday and spent a happy few hours trying to assemble the bloody thing. I have now reached the conclusion that unless dp is with me, I shall not be leaving the house until she is walking (so much for being an independent woman, eh?) as there is no way I can operate the thing, too many gadgets and things to clip/unclip etc. I thought they were designed for ease of use?? Ah well, it looks pretty.

Lots of lovely looking bump pics. People don't believe me when I say I am nearly 25 weeks (is that 5 or 6 months? Internet offers conflicting opinions) and ask me if I am sure there is something in there. Very tactful, not. Although I have been dressing to try and hide the bump, work with kids and really don't need them knowing just yet! Got midwife next week, so hopefully she can tell me if everything is the usual size etc.

kitkat and mumma, I hope you find a solution to the pain, I can imagine it is not fun whatsoever. I am finding it is getting uncomfortable to bend down now, any excuse not to tidy up!

Hope everyone is getting on ok, apart from the aches and pains, and the heat.

ThatGirl82 · 07/07/2017 18:46

Another one here fed up with the heat. Also no a/c in my office and I have a 40 min train commute each way which is pretty horrendous. I'm currently lying in a cold bath writing this!

Sorry to hear about the bad backs, mine was painful about a week ago but has got a bit better now, hopefully yours won't all go on for the rest of your pregnancies. I have a cold now though which doesn't seem at all well in this weather, it's making me so tired and I have no energy to do anything!

boxes I'm sure your bump size is fine, everyone shows differently but your midwife will measure it and reassure you that all is normal.

Here's hoping for some rain soon!

GimbleInTheWabe · 07/07/2017 20:35

Uh god I only ventured out today to get a cable for the oven (who knew that an oven doesn't just plug in...Hmm). My local Wickes is probably only 10 mins walk away but I was drenched in sweat by the time I got there. And wow the thigh chafe is not so fun either. Spent the rest of the day in my bedroom with the blind down and the fan on..

Sorry to hear about back pain to the few of you who are suffering. At least it sounds like you're getting the right care now.

Has anyone ever had a pregnancy massage? I'm thinking about treating myself.. any recommendations for a place in London is very welcome.

Also anyone else having a baby shower? Mines only a few weeks away now!

mummabubs · 07/07/2017 21:54

I've had two massages bought for me as gifts Gimble, I'm trying to save them till I'm 30 weeks plus as I suspect I'll appreciate them most then!! One is a three hour drive away though so I'll have to do that one while I can still drive!!

ThatGirl82 · 07/07/2017 22:38

Gimble I can't suggest anywhere but I got a free pregnancy massage the other week as my local uni asked for participants for massage therapists to learn new techniques on. It was amazing and I thoroughly recommend it. Will definitely look to book another when I get really uncomfortable!

charmanar · 09/07/2017 16:27

gimble I had a lovely one last time in therapy rooms, in east dulwich. This time I had one by urbanmassage it's a website and they come to your house, you can choose the masseuse based on their ratings, it was good but they didn't have the specialised pregnancy massage bed.

rainingcats · 09/07/2017 17:39

Glad i am not the only person with a bad back .. or suffering with the heat! Feel like all I do is moan lately!

wapsmahoney · 10/07/2017 09:25

Morning ladies ... how are we all doing?
I never thought Id be saying this but Im SO glad its cooler today!
I currently have baby practically sat in my rib cage ... I constantly have what I can only describe as pins and needles in my ribs ... not fun on a Monday morning! And doesn't give me much hope for the next 12 weeks!
12 weeks to go ... not that does sounds scary!!

GimbleInTheWabe · 10/07/2017 11:01

Thanks for the massage suggestions. @charmanar I live really near east dulwich so I'll have to have a look on their website.
And @ThatGirl82 the local college suggestion is so savvy!!! I'm def going to check that out too.

I feel you @wapsmahoney! Had a few rib kicks this last week and it has not been nice. Also starting to feel really really right across my bump. Also, I only just woke up Blush haven't laid in this late since I was at uni!! I've got 12 weeks to go too, seriously how has it gone this quick?!

Cath1212 · 10/07/2017 14:22

I cant believe we are all getting so close to the 3rd trimester - the last month or so has flown
Not sleeping well at all here - but I am guessing I am not the only one!
A pregnancy massage sounds like bliss, something to book for next month I feel!

wapsmahoney · 10/07/2017 15:15

Embrace sleeping in while you can Gimble! that's my stance on it anyway! you obviously needed the sleep!
Tell me about it ... Welcome to the third trimester! How the hell did this happen?! I should probably start getting organised and buying things. Anyone else feeling slightly disorganised?!
Oh ... and I have just been informed that the Next sale starts on Saturday for anyone who is interested!!!

mummabubs · 10/07/2017 19:59

Oooo thanks for the tip @wapsmahoney! We've got loads of Next vouchers so will have to check it out!
My D&K book says I'm already in the third trimester (it says from 26 weeks?!) but I think 28 is more commonly viewed as being the start? 😊

TippetyTapWriter · 10/07/2017 20:36

Is anyone else suddenly absolutely knackered? It's like the first trimester but worse! The heat isn't helping but I didn't feel this bad when it was hot a few weeks ago.

Amazing that the third trimester is within sight. Ever since about 22 weeks it's been flying. I remember everyone waiting for their first scans!

GimbleInTheWabe · 10/07/2017 21:18

@wapsmahoney I am so not prepared! However we're heading off to get our pram, cot, sleepyhead and literally everything else on the 2nd August so hopefully I'll feel a bit better then.

Also- I got my ante natal classes letter through today!! I have 2 three hour classes starting 25th July (so soon!!). They just got in touch by letter so maybe keep your eyes on your doormat as I didn't get a follow up call. Although it seems that each hospital had its own protocol anyway.
