How is everyone finding the heat? I've got our fan going at night on high blast and no sheet at all. Luckily our flat stays pretty cool but when I'm outside it's a whole different matter. Soooo sweaty! And I've never really been that much of a sweaty person before. I'll be glad when this heatwave is over.

ThatGirl82 · 20/06/2017 12:59

Gimble I am sweating in places I did not know could sweat. But I have always been a bit sweaty so its hard to know if it's much worse due to being pregnant, or just that we hardly ever have temperatures this high.

I had two showers and a cold bath yesterday and am sleeping naked with no sheets. I'm really looking forward to it cooling down a bit!

mummabubs · 20/06/2017 19:02

I love the heat (am usually a cold bodkin due to crap circulation) but I've finally reached my hot limit! Our terraced house gets so hot and there's no wind so even with all the windows open, sleeping nuddy butters and no sheets I'm still waking up in the early hours resembling a disgusting soggy mess! 🙈

iemma321q · 20/06/2017 20:39

Glad to hear I'm not the only one suffering in the heat- can't wait for it to go away!!!

doomkittycleo · 20/06/2017 21:45

Has anyone else booked onto antenatal classes yet? I've somehow got onto the course super early (don't ask me how), but they start this Thursday. Has anyone been on them before? What kind of stuff do you cover and will DP be made to feel welcome? Don't want him being the only bloke.

iemma321q · 20/06/2017 21:57

We did I both the NHS Ines and nct for our first baby in 2015. Which ones are you booked on?

mummabubs · 20/06/2017 21:58

@doomkittycleo I've signed up this evening for Daisy antenatal classes- only the women are allowed to go to those and they're just for labour, but we're planning to do the free NHS antenatal classes and then maybe some private ones post-birth. We looked into NCT but decided against it- they were much more expensive (£240 was the cheapest in my area) and I felt they were a bit pushy after I registered interest as they kept calling me whilst I was at work to ask if I'd paid yet or when I would pay.

doomkittycleo · 20/06/2017 22:04

@iemma I'm booked on the nhs ones. X

doomkittycleo · 20/06/2017 22:06

@mummsbubs even if they were about labour I'd want DP there. He's the only person I'd have in the room except for Drs and midwives. Need him to keep me sane.

GimbleInTheWabe · 20/06/2017 22:07

My midwife made me sign the form for antenatal classes at my booking in appt! We're doing the free ones but not NCT. DP doesn't want to do NCT and tbh it's over £300 where I am and doesn't really sound worth it. Haven't had any info about the antenatal classes yet though.

Also: anyway else have a beloved kitty that they're worried about post baby arrival? We want our fur ball to feel as welcomed and loved as he does now but am worried he'll run away and never come home!

doomkittycleo · 20/06/2017 22:13

@gimble I was told at my booking appointment to call and book on them myself once I reached 20-24 weeks. They don't contact you (where I am anyway). You just call your local children's centre and give your details and they book you on.

ButterflyGem · 20/06/2017 22:33

I'm also struggling with the heat apparently it's supposed to be stormy tomorrow though so might cool off. When do you usually start antenatal classed? I'll be 25 nearly 26 weeks when I see the midwife next time 30 June.

Also I'm starting to worry about how our dog will cope with the baby he's a New Zealand huntaway/trail hound cross quite a big dog but really soft. xx

GimbleInTheWabe · 20/06/2017 22:38

@doomkittycleo I think, unhelpfully, everywhere does it differently. I'm in London and every midwife appt they say 'have you booked on? The spaces get taken up really quickly!' but I can't really remember what info I had to put on... I think one mw said that they'll contact me but my next appt is this thurs so I think I'll as about it again. I have a feeling that the actual classes don't start until 30+ weeks though.

@ButterflyGem I've read that for cats you're supposed to get them used to the smell of all the new baby stuff and have it out so it's not all new at once and to play the sound of a baby crying so they get used to it. Not sure if the same applies for pooches?

doomkittycleo · 21/06/2017 07:10

@Gimble what do you mean what info you had to put on? So you do yours online or something. All mine wanted was to know how many weeks I was and my name phone number and address. That was just over the phone to the children's centre, which I looked up on google. I think the midwife gave me a leaflet at the booking in appointment with all the numbers on, but I misplaced it. Didn't matter tho cus it came up easily on a google search.

GimbleInTheWabe · 21/06/2017 08:10

@doomkittycleo I mean I can't remember what info I had to fill out on the form for prenatal classes, only because it was so long ago now. It makes sense though that it's at a local place like you say though, I had assumed it'd be at the hospital (for no good reason!) and it's a 30 min bus ride to Kings so hopefully they classes will be more local like you say. I'm going to check with my midwife tomorrow if there's anything I'm meant to be doing with regards to them

Terrible night sleep last night Envy had some really scary dreams and just couldn't relax!

KitKatSplat · 21/06/2017 08:36

Hey ladies, long overdue check in here. I'm 22+4 today. Felt the baby moving since around week 21. Sometimes it feels like up to 60 times a day! It can be quite wearing at times. Had a few back aches and really trying not to lean back too much and bugger up my back as my centre of gravity shifts, but other than that, I'm doing okay. Trying to do some kind of flexible movement like yoga or pilates at least every other day to avoid being too stiff and getting the dreaded swollen ankles.

Only bought a pram and a carrier so far, and even they are still in the box as we are moving house next week! I read that if the baby were to be born in 3 days, it would have a chance of survival, which is crazy!

doomkittycleo · 21/06/2017 08:51

@Gimble, I didn't have to fill in any forms.

Cath1212 · 21/06/2017 16:17

Hello ladies
Wow it is seriously hot outside - luckily I have air - con in my office but really not looking forward to the tube and train home or a sleepless night!
I am doing NCT and one of the NHS ones as well, my midwife gave me a number to call to book but they NEVER answered so ended up booking when I was in the hospital for another appointment
Only really going to NCT to try and meet some people !!
Hope everyone is doing well :-)

ThatGirl82 · 21/06/2017 19:17

Today I was on training and stuck in the hottest room in the world with no fan or air con, it was pretty awful and I didn't take anything in!

We finally booked onto NCT classes the other day, they will take place when I am just over a month from my due date. They were expensive and I would have been happy to do cheaper ones but my boyfriend was keen after his sister recommended it as a great way to meet local parents.

Here's hoping for cooler weather tomorrow!

greentreeseverywhere · 21/06/2017 20:51

today was my first day back at work after nearly 2 weeks off and not doing much apart from eat sunbath and swim abit!! iv been on my feet all day sweating and my ankles are so swollen

GimbleInTheWabe · 22/06/2017 13:49

Good luck to everyone at work with or without air con! Being pg has made me sooo grateful that I am self employed and work from home so I can take things at my own speed.

Had my midwife appt today (I'm 25+3) and she measured my bump for the first time- 25cm! Has anyone else been measured yet? Would love to compare size to see if I'm as big as I feel! I do love my bump as it's quite neat but it is starting to feel pretty heavy, and yay cos I have no stretch marks (yet!!!). Next one is in only 3 weeks so everything seems to be gaining momentum now.

Also the mw said that I won't be contacted about the antenatal classes until 32 weeks and that they'll ring me to arrange, so it seems everywhere just does things differently, helpful hey! So I guess I'm just going to geek out on baby books until then.

boxesoffrogs · 22/06/2017 22:01

I've been at work with no aircon. It was 34 degrees at one point in my classroom, and they couldn't even find me a fan, and wouldn't let me bring one in from home as it needs to be 'safety tested'. Huh. It's been a pretty unpleasant few days, I can tell you.

Bump is well and truly on the increase, although a lot of people say that I look tiny! I am expecting an imminent growth spurt of babyfrogs, and I guess I will rue the day I wished the bump was bigger!

Still confused as about prams. Don't even know where to start. Is there some sort of pram superstore where people go and joy ride them? Otherwise how do you know which one is best? I struggle with steering a supermarket trolley at the best of times...

In a happier note, anyone started to think about names? We are down to four, but keep changing my mind.

boxesoffrogs · 22/06/2017 22:04

Oh and re Ante natal classes, my midwife has booked me in (at least I hope she has as she seems a tad flakey) for the NHS ones - three in September, seems a long way off and I am not sure how useful they will be. Mind you, I have about as much idea of what I am doing as an amoeba, so every little helps.

Baby is thumping away, kicked so hard the other day while I was in the bath I actually saw it!!! Very strange feeling.

GimbleInTheWabe · 22/06/2017 22:17

Yikes boxes I thought there was legal limits on how hot/cold a classroom can be? Or is that just something my schoolmates used to say ha. I would always fall asleep at school if the classroom was too hot as well!

We're going to get the bugaboo bee 5 but I agree that it is sooooo confusing looking through them all. Maybe have a think about what you need from a pram (I.e good for country/city, big enough for x amount of kids, light or stable) and so on and see what fits those needs?

No names from me and DP yet, we've agreed to both keep a list and then after the 36w scan we'll compare and hopefully decide. I've been witnessing lots of kicks too, I can see when he's turning over it's so strange! Like there's an alien in there..

greentreeseverywhere · 22/06/2017 22:31

we are going to a big mothercare this weekend driving where u can "test drive" them and sort out car seats etc as well.
a few of my friends have said the staff are really knowledgeable so I'm hoping they can help me ares it's a bit daunting!!!
