Me too Gimble, in my foot- it's agony!!

CadburySpot · 08/06/2017 10:31

Just a quick post to say we had our scan yesterday morning, everything's ok baby kept moving a lot so took ages to get all the measurements. We are having a girl.
We also decided to buy our first baby item. We got a Costco ooba pram, with 36% off and a free car seat (so really 2 Items).
Will have a read and post properly later when I have more time.

CadburySpot · 08/06/2017 10:32

Arrr auto correct. That should be cosatto ooba.

iemma321q · 08/06/2017 18:50

I'm also getting cramp in my legs in the night and pins and needles in my hands sometimes too. Also the heartburn has started!!!!

This is my second child and although I managed to breastfeed my ds for first 12 weeks I really struggled with it and we even get readmitted to hospital for a couple of nights. I really want to avoid all this this time so I'm thinking of combination feeding ( breast and formula) from the start. Don't suppose anyone has any advice on this?

Rayna37 · 10/06/2017 06:37

I've had a bit of cramp too. Apparently both calcium and potassium help prevent this and in a totally unrelated conversation yesterday learned loads of foods have more potassium (and less sugar) than bananas: avocado, sweet potatoes, spinach, white beans, butternut squash, plain yogurt.

TippetyTapWriter · 10/06/2017 12:07

How much movement are others with an anterior placenta feeling? I know it's too early to be monitoring movements but I haven't felt anything since yesterday morning and it always makes me worried. I'm 22 weeks tomorrow.

iemma you could try asking in the feeding section? Think it's called 'feed the world' or something. I can't help sorry, tried expressing for a month as ds wouldn't latch (think he got nipple confusion after being bottle fed in scbu for a week) but I never got any more than 40ml in a whole day so he was pretty much exclusively formula fed. I'm hoping things work better this time round.

Rayna37 · 10/06/2017 12:23

tippetytap I'm 23 weeks with anterior placenta and still not feeling that much. Main period of activity is normally when I get into bed, with just the odd twinge during the day. They do sleep for 18 hours apparently though so I try to keep that in mind!

SophieGiroux · 10/06/2017 22:50

Anyone got any baby bouncer recommendations? I've been looking at the Baby Bjorn one (expensive!) or Ladybird swing one.

mummabubs · 10/06/2017 22:51

Try not to worry @TippetyTapWriter, as Rayna points out they sleep loads at this stage. I'm also 23 wks with an anterior placenta- I'm starting to feel more movements but mostly when lying still. Some days I feel a fair bit, other days much much less, but all depends on where bubbabean is lying. 😊

TippetyTapWriter · 11/06/2017 17:09

Thanks Rayna and mummabubs, I've felt a bit more movement today so feeling reassured. Spent the whole of my last pregnancy worrying about movements, thought I might be more chilled out this time but doesn't seem it!

boxesoffrogs · 12/06/2017 08:07

tippety I feel the same. Some days it feels like she is having a party in there and dp can feel it, other days I suddenly panic that I haven't felt anything since the day before and spend a long time lying down juggling my tummy and holding my breath (yeah, like that's going to help!) I don't have an anterior placenta though.

Just popped on to say, whoever designed under bump maternity jeans is some sort of sadist... got some yesterday out of desperation, thinking that over bump ones would be too hot... oh no no no no no. Within about two minutes my bum looked like a sack of potatoes, the crotch was down to my knees and I spent the entirety of what was supposed to be a lovely country walk trying to hoik the buggers up discreetly. Huh.

GimbleInTheWabe · 12/06/2017 10:13

Mine are the same @boxesoffrogs!
I got some under the bumps ones from topshop and all they do is bloody fall down, it's so annoying!

I'm pretty much living in leggings and loose dresses. I bought some maternity tights as well the other day from boots - £6! But worth it, sooo much comfier.

Rayna37 · 12/06/2017 12:51

I've been in maternity trousers and jeans from really early on, both under and over bump, mostly been pretty good. The Next chinos, a bit loose under the bump, have been a saviour over the last few warmer days! However now I'm finding my Gap under bump trousers and jeans agony. Also I have some Debenhams over bump cropped jeans I've barely worn yet and the top of the stretchy panel seemed tight last week. Thought I was all set so slightly miffed at potentially having to buy bigger bottoms at the same time my remaining normal tops are also starting not to fit!

leannejade · 12/06/2017 13:50

I have some under the bump smart leggings from Next's maternity section and sometimes they feel so tight even though they're the right size.
On the plus side it helps me feel baby move!

doomkittycleo · 12/06/2017 22:34

We've just built the baby's wardrobe so I've unwrapped all of the new born clothes we bought to put them in it. Can't believe how tiny the vests are 😍👶

Cineraria · 13/06/2017 14:24

SophieGiroux Do you mean a doorway bouncer or a chair bouncer? We had the Lindam door bouncer but got a rocking rather than bouncing chair, the Fisher Price one with a lion and giraffe dangling from the top that slots onto an electronic swing frame. DS liked both but rarely bounced in the door bouncer, just used it to stay vertical, which he liked because it helped his silent reflux. He also didn't like the electronic swinging in the chair as it was too reclined, just rocked himself in the more upright position as he swiped his hands back and forth trying to swat the dangling lion. The giraffe got completely ignored!

Cineraria · 13/06/2017 14:30

Sophiegiroux, do you mean a doorway bouncer or a chair bouncer?

We had a Lindam door bouncer but got a rocking rather than bouncing chair, the Fisher Price one with a lion and giraffe dangling from the top, that slots onto an electronic swing frame, and DS liked them both. He didn't bounce in the door bouncer but used it to stay vertical, which helped his silent reflux and he didn't like the electronic swinging as the chair was too reclined when on the frame, but happily rocked himself in the more upright position as he swiped his hands back and forth trying to get the lion. He still climbs onto it now. I'm hoping this next baby will like the electronic swinging as otherwise it was a bit expensive for just a rocking chair.

boxesoffrogs · 13/06/2017 16:28

Argh everyone seems so much more organised than we are, have done literally nothing apart from get a few vests and token presents from people.

Will have to check out the other maternity trousers/jeans that you guys have recommended, see if I have more luck! In other news, I wore my other black maternity under bump jeans today with a belt and they just about stayed up, so maybe I shouldn't give up hope.

I do need your help though, oh wise ones. I have a christening on Sunday and I have NOTHING TO WEAR! All my dresses are fitted over the middle and its not a good look bulging out, plus most of them don't zip up. I've looked at a few online, my local shopping centre doesn't seem to actually have any shops that sell maternity stuff (useless), and I had a tantrum on Sunday when I went shopping and came back empty handed as nothing fitted. Anyone got any recommendations for dresses suitable for such an event? Not sure if I am being melodramatic just looking at maternity dresses (my bump isn't huge, but definitely there). I realise I have also left it rather last minute... help!!!!

pollybythesea · 13/06/2017 18:40

H&M / asos / new look all have some nice summery maternity dresses boxes and they offer next day delivery ?

ButterflyGem · 13/06/2017 21:23

@boxesoffrogs I feel very unorganised too still hardly bought anything yet. However we're getting given a sand silvercross wayfarer pram only a yesr old off my husbands cousin & some other bits & bobs which I am grateful for as all so expensive lol. I will get some new stuff though.
I've bought a black & khaki choker dress from tesco think they had a coral colour too not maternity but just went a size up as material isn't too clingy & a good length, they're just plain but could jazz up with accessories & a nice blazer/cardigan for christening. www.tesco.com/direct/ff-choker-neck-midi-dress/403-3154.prd

I've felt loads of baby movements the last week or so such a strange feeling I'm getting out of breath more easily too nit sure how I'll cope when I've got a big bump lol xx

SophieGiroux · 13/06/2017 22:29

Yes I meant a chair type bouncer that they can sit in. Also really want to buy a sleepyhead after all the good reviews!

Corrinax · 14/06/2017 06:58

@boxes im 23 weeks today and also just hav a hand full of vests etc size 0-3 months i dont think i will buy any more clothes as ppl will wanna buy gifts! I keep going to buy the pram but im nervous lol i supose it makes it feel very real! Im going to be brave soon and buy it eeek

boxesoffrogs · 14/06/2017 07:07

butterfly nice dress! And jealous of the pram, think that's going to be the first thing we need to get sorted, hopefully next weekend... just too much choice, and options and add-ons, and ARGHHH! And polly, I've ordered a load of stuff from new look in various sizes (mat and non mat) that should be arriving today so hopefully something in there that will be suitable!

Got a wedding in August and need to fly, I will be 28 weeks, does anyone know about getting a fit to fly letter? Looked online, but can't find out when you need to get the letter, etc... God I am so flipping clueless!

boxesoffrogs · 14/06/2017 07:07

Cross post corrinax! Which pram are you going for?

Cath1212 · 14/06/2017 09:26

another one here who hasn't got much yet - dont worry ladies we have time! I have just picked up a few items of clothing!
We have tested out a few prams and I think we have made a decision so may order in a few weeks :-)
