pollybythesea · 03/06/2017 20:58

Loopy - really sorry to hear about your dad. Take care of yourself x

boxesoffrogs · 04/06/2017 16:16

loopy so sorry. Hope you are bearing up.

Got my 20 week scan tomorrow. Not felt baby move really since Friday, so gearing myself up for the worst. That coupled with the horrendous terrorist attacks in my city has just about slain my faith in humanity.

I really hope that tomorrow will be ok, but got a horrible feeling that baby has gone :-( sorry to be so depressing.

leannejade · 04/06/2017 17:32

So sorry for your loss, loopy.

boxesoffrogs - please let us know how you get on. I didn't feel baby for a few days and started to worry but there he was stretching and kicking at my anomaly scan - he stretched himself really long, put his foot by his mouth, and even through all that, and with the pressure from the sonography thing on my stomach, I didn't feel him move. So I hope they're in there wriggling away and you get some good news.
I know how you feel about anxiety with the world we live in - living in Manchester I was panicking a couple of weeks ago about what sort of world I'm bringing a child into, but I'm trying to keep the mindset that we're raising the next generation and it's our job to show them how good the world can be :)

mrsbumblebees · 04/06/2017 17:47

Good luck for tomorrow boxesoffrogs, please try not to worry, although I know how hard that is to do. I was completely convinced that my lack of bump was a sign of bad news but when I went for a reassurance scan baby was wriggling around and exactly the right size (still no bump now and 20+3). I felt loads better for a couple of days after that, and started to feel more definite movements, but they really come and go and by the time I had my anomaly scan the following week I had convinced myself again that something had gone wrong as I hadn't felt much for a couple of days. Once again baby was fine and rather lively on the screen (although I couldn't feel it!) This last few days I have varied between feeling nothing for hours and hours and then suddenly feeling some quite strong movements. I think it must depend where they are and which way they are facing etc... but I know it's really disconcerting when you stop feeling them for a bit. Be kind to yourself and I hope everything goes well tomorrow - you are not alone in worrying but I think it's a weird stage where movements seem to be really inconsistent.

CadburySpot · 04/06/2017 19:29

Welcome to anyone new, and yay for good scans and bump pics.
So sorry to hear about your dad loopy.
Hoping for good news for anyone with scans coming up, mine is on Wednesday morning.

- prenatal vitamins, I am still taking a pregnancy multivitamin, as I know I am not getting what I should from my diet, due to issues that stem from when I was younger.
- baby shower, I'm not having one I didn't with any of my previous pregnancies, it's not I very common thing here.
- maternity leave, I officially start my mat leave on my due date (28th Oct), but I have booked the 2weeks before that off on holiday so I will finish work on the 14th. I am taking 6months off. We can only carry over 2weeks holiday so I am taking those before I go back to work. The rest of my holidays for this year I have to use before I leave or I will lose them.
- MATB1, we can request them here and pick them up anytime from 24weeks.
- equipment, we are going to start our baby shopping after our scan on Wednesday. We are going to get something every month to space the cost out abit.
- movement, I have felt definite movement from about 17weeks but this is baby number 4. My sister who is having her first says she has only just started feeling things and she is 20weeks.
- heartburn, I get really bad heartburn. With my other pregnancies I had it all the way through and this one seems to be going the same. I always keep a supply of Rennie on me wherever I go.
- appetite, mine hasn't really changed much. I havn't really had any cravings apart for tomatoes and melon. Only other thing is I have slightly gone off red meat.
- boobs, they are definitely bigger that they were. I think maybe about 2 cup sizes.

mummabubs · 04/06/2017 20:08

Just to add reassurance @boxesoffrogs (really hope it goes well), I was told that before 24 weeks bubbas are still establishing a routine so there might be some very active days and others not so much- I've definitely not felt bubbabean much today at all compared to the last 48 hours. Also I found out at my 20 week scan that I have an anterior placenta- so depending on what position bubbabean lies in massively affects whether I can feel them or not. Fingers crossed for you and I hope you manage to relax a little and sleep before the scan xx

ButterflyGem · 04/06/2017 20:27

I'm watching the Manchester concert in tears. Feel so sad about the terrorist attacks recently & last night in London it's just so awful when will it stop, feel guilty for bringing a child into this world we now live in its so scary. We have to be positive though don't we. It really makes you appreciate life & how special it is & puts things in perspective.
@Loopyaboutmy2boys sorry about your dad.
Hope everyone is ok today xx

boxesoffrogs · 05/06/2017 12:03

Thanks guys for all the reassurance. I was working myself up for no reason, baby was wriggling away, all looks good! And we are team... pink!!! I am shocked as I was all geared up for a) bad news b) a boy! But would have been happy either way. Yay! A baby! A baby girl! Can I start shopping yet???

boxesoffrogs · 05/06/2017 12:05

Ps after lots of tears and angst from me last last about everything, she (feels so weird typing that!) kicked so hard dp felt it!

leannejade · 05/06/2017 13:10

So pleased to hear boxesoffrogs!! Grin

I could feel my baby kicking pretty hard at the side last night so I put my fiancé's hand there and told him it isn't too strong a feeling but to push a little hard and then he kicked again and he said he felt it! So pleased that he can feel more a part of it and experience these things, too! :)

boxesoffrogs · 05/06/2017 13:57

Thanks!!! See pic of baby sucking thumb, thought it was too good to not get a copy of this!!!

mrsbumblebees · 05/06/2017 14:05

Congrats boxesoffrogs - lovely news and great pic!!!

mrsbumblebees · 05/06/2017 14:08

P.s. I started shopping yesterday and ordered some sleepsuits online, it was so exciting! Feel like this is going to get expensive!!

Cath1212 · 05/06/2017 16:36

so sorry to hear about your Dad loopy it must be such a difficult time for you

boxesoffrogs great news - so pleased to hear everything was fine after your concerns

I am still not feeling proper moments yet - so frustrating!! but have had my scan and know everything is ok so remembering that!!

hope everyones scans go well this week

Cath1212 · 05/06/2017 16:37

I got a very cute sleepsuit from John Lewis at the weekend - it was the first thing we have got! Obviously not all my purchases will be from there otherwise we would be very very broke!!

mrsbumblebees · 05/06/2017 17:13

Mothercare had 15% off clothing (think the offer might still be on, perhaps ends today?) which was my justification! They probably still weren't that cheap but I was too excited and couldn't help myself!! At least I could tell DH they were on offer Wink

Cineraria · 05/06/2017 17:47

Great news boxes. Glad your fears were unfounded. It's so nice when the dads can feel the kicks too.

I haven't bought anything for the baby yet but it was my last day at work last week and I was given some gifts by colleagues for the baby and it seems much more real that there is going to be another baby when I look at them. I didn't think I'd need to buy much as my first son is only 20 months old and so I thought we'll still have everything we need but then I made a list and there seems to be quite a bit really: new mattresses for pram, carry cot and co-sleeper; waterproof nappy covers and boosters; replacement parts for breast pump; toddler seat for on top of the pram; car seat and base; and either a buggy board or stuff to convert the travel system to carry two children. I also bought new bras and a swimsuit that should see me through the pregnancy and breastfeeding, fingers crossed. I guess that's kind of baby shopping too.

mummabubs · 05/06/2017 18:53

So happy for you @boxesoffrogs, such a relief! Mini frogs clearly likes to keep you on your toes already! 😊

I've bought a couple of sleepsuits already and taken to hiding them in a drawer away from the hubby, who thinks we can just get all our kid's clothes from a charity shop after they've arrived(!) Happy to shop in charity shops but I think it's part of nesting to want to pick some things out yourself! Xx
