Scan went fine today and all was healthy and normal. And.. another member of team blue here!! Grin

I've been having heartburn ThatGirl it's so uncomfortable isn't it? I find little and often sips of water help.

doomkittycleo · 30/05/2017 20:50

It's my 20 week scan tomorrow, not till 3:30 tho. Been feeling more and more movement over the past couple of weeks too.

Not finding out the sex tho. Determined to stay team yellow 😀. It's my favourite colour after all.

TheLionQueen1 · 30/05/2017 21:02

Thatgirl, a friend of mine was prescribed gaviscon by the doctors as she was going through the stuff at a ridiculous rate for heart burn! I haven't got it yet but have bottles ready just in case!!

mummabubs · 31/05/2017 06:41

Hope you have a lovely time on holiday Jade! I'm sure all will be well. I'm still trying to convince hubby we need a long weekend somewhere hot before the first trimester hits... so far we're going to Kent for a week. 😂

@Cath1212 You may well be taken off consultant led- I was! Had a good 20 week scan and within less than 3 minutes the consultant we saw afterwards said "You'd rather be midwife led wouldn't you?"... yup! So she instantly 'downgraded' me and just said that if we need to go back to consultant led at any stage it's no hassle. So glad your scan went well! Xx

leannejade · 31/05/2017 07:22

Does anyone have any experience with going on holiday after 30 weeks? It's my birthday August bank holiday and my fiancé mentioned going to Spain or something for a couple of nights, but I googled and you need a fit to fly note from the doctor and some airlines are a bit fussy about it. Does anyone have any knowledge on this?

pollybythesea · 31/05/2017 07:53

Hey leanne yes it can be tricky. Going out is usually ok as you can get a note, but some airlines want a note for the return journey which is dated within 5 days - that's pretty hard if you're going away for longer than 5 days!! Long weekend would be ok tho. Check with the airline first - its all in their T&C's.

mrsbumblebees · 31/05/2017 10:16

Good luck for today doomkittycleo and all others with scans this week. Mine went really well yesterday and everything looked fine, so relieved! Didn't want to find out the sex so it will be a surprise for us in October, although I have a strong suspicion it's a boy but will be very happy either way Smile

Lshe · 31/05/2017 18:32

hey. I've just found this thread! congratulations on all the bumps! I'm already finding the heat hard to cope with, can't seem to get a good temperature either clammy and cold or clammy and hot! can you add me as EDD 31/10. xx

ButterflyGem · 31/05/2017 19:35

How did all the scans go & howd everyone feeling today I feel like my bump has suddenly got bigger & rounder. xx

mrsbumblebees · 31/05/2017 20:24

Welcome Lshe Smile

My bump is still hiding ButterflyGem - if it wasn't for the scans (and the wriggling!) I wouldn't believe there was anything in there!

leannejade · 31/05/2017 20:32

I've had a stitch like feeling in my stomach throughout the day. Resigned myself to the fact I am at my peak fitness Grin

My scan is tomorrow, but not until 4 so it'll be a long day! So excited, can't wait to see baby again and hopefully see it wriggling around (they were completely still at my 12 week) - can definitely feel them moving these past couple of days. Hoping they cooperate so we can see if they're a boy or a girl!

Cineraria · 31/05/2017 20:51

Hoping to hear good news from those who had scans today. It's such a relief when you hear everything is ok.

Is anyone else already having Braxton Hicks contractions? Mine have started over the last few days and really take me by surprise. I'm 22 weeks exactly today and this is about three weeks earlier than they started when I was pregnant with my son, so I wasn't expecting them just yet. Luckily they aren't as strong or frequent as they were with that pregnancy; at the time I thought it was all normal but when I went to get checked out at the hospital for reduced movements one day, they monitored contractions as well as listening to his heartbeat and I ended up being kept in overnight and given steroid shots and a nitroglycerin patch because they thought I was in labour.

greentreeseverywhere · 31/05/2017 21:03

I didn't kno2 you could get braxton hicks this early 😱 how would I know what they are?!!!

Cineraria · 31/05/2017 21:25

Don't worry! It's not painful. Just feels like a squeeze or like you're about to get cramp but then don't get it. Your bump goes hard and sticks out a bit more. They are good practice for real labour. I got really used to them and hardly noticed them after a while with my son. When I went into labour, I told my husband that I was worried that my waters had broken but my contractions hadn't started. He looked at me strangely and said that even he could feel me having contractions with his hand on the bump!

TheLionQueen1 · 31/05/2017 21:47

Did not know that Cine, glad you've mentioned it thanks! Is it quite common then?

PingusMistress · 31/05/2017 22:55

Very lovely to hear all the good scan news. Good luck to those with scans in the next few days, I still have a week to wait.

Great holiday advice, I'm going to Menorca next weekend so appreciate it. Does anyone know if I should worry about mosquitoes, and if so, what is safe to use (both for me and a toddler)? I know to avoid DEET but I'm thinking it might be best to stick to more natural repellents if possible, if they work!

At my last midwife appointment she told me to get a permission to fly letter though. I didn't think you needed them this early?

Thanks for the MATB1 advice too. I think me and DH will also do the shared parental leave thing, as although we both work for our own business it's only the stuff that I do that brings in the cash!

Glitterbubble · 31/05/2017 23:48

20 week scan today! Baby is perfectly healthy, such a relief!! We are having a baby girl 💕💕

Oohh pingusmistress where abouts are you staying? I have been going to menorca since I was 4 years old and actually went when I was 16 weeks for our last baby free holiday! No mosquitoes there then, and never see them when I usually go in October either! Obviously there's a chance though I guess

pollybythesea · 31/05/2017 23:59

Hey pingu try citronella and lavender spray from neals yard - it worked so well in Greece I was impressed and it smells nice enough not to mind it lingering on clothes. All natural.

doomkittycleo · 01/06/2017 06:49

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, here is my scan picture. Baby is doing really well, but I have a low lying placenta that partially covers my cervix. They are confident that it will most likely move by the time I get to term, but if it doesn't it will mean a C section.

I cried for 4 hours last night at the prospect of a caesarean. I've never been in hospital and am dead set on a natural birth with no pain relief so this really hit me like a tonne of bricks (even though it's probably going to move). I am so anxious that it'll get in the way of breastfeeding, skin to skin contact and that it'll make my recovery really hard and caring for the baby difficult in the early days.

I have had anxiety in the past and it had gone away since being pregnant, but this feels like it's set me off again.

I should be happy that the baby is healthy, but this has overshadowed that. 😢

October 2017 #4!
mummabubs · 01/06/2017 07:51

Bless you @doomkittycleo. I felt exactly the same when they told me I had a bicornuate uterus at my 12 week scan and might need a caesarean due to that. It really affected my experience of the scan as like you I'm hoping for a relatively med-free water birth on a midwifery led unit. Thankfully for me at my 20 week scan my uterus appears to have stretched to normal shape so they'll just have to scan me again to check for breach at a later date, but I completely understand the conflict of feeling you should be happy for your healthy baby but also perhaps grieving the appointment not going as you secretly expect it will go beforehand. Hopefully they're right and the placenta will move (I hear this is common for it to shift upwards with the rest of the uterus as you grow so fingers crossed). Congratulations on your little girl- I'm hoping for a girl but we're not finding out! 🙈 xx

mummabubs · 01/06/2017 07:51

*breech... silly iPhone.

boxesoffrogs · 01/06/2017 18:05

Afternoon all. Congrats on all the scan news. Anyone else feeling hot and fed up? I cried earlier because I can't fit into any of my summer clothes. I also had a small glass of wine with my godmother who I haven't seen for two years and now feeling very very very guilty...
I also keep getting these popping sensations in my tummy, assume it is the baby? Like bubbles bursting if that makes sense? Other than that, still no actual kicks that I can recognise. Feeling rather depressed today.

mrsbumblebees · 01/06/2017 18:37

A lot of the movement I'm feeling feels like little bubbles popping boxesoffrogs, I'd say that's definitely baby! I've been feeling it more and more over the last couple of weeks, sometimes with a sort of fluttering or flicking sensation too - I really like knowing the baby is moving but wish it was a bit more consistent as I worry when it stops!!

Definitely don't feel guilty about one small glass of wine, no harm in that at all and a little of what you fancy will do you good Smile

I'm trying not to think about the clothes I'm not going to fit in to - we have a holiday with friends coming up at the end of June and before I got pregnant I was the slimmest I've ever been so was feeling quite confident about swimwear for once. Now I'm just going to look like a lumpy whale - I don't even have a nice bump, just my pre-pregnancy lumpy bits have become more pronounced Blush

Corrinax · 01/06/2017 19:11

Baby was perfect today at my scan and he was sucking his thumb ☺

Is it too early to buy the pram???

October 2017 #4!
mrsbumblebees · 01/06/2017 19:31

Brilliant pic Corrinax!
