@CadburySpot I've been struggling today sat in office 8-30-5 with just fans & open windows 😖 I've felt hotter since being pregnant I'm normally always cold & have found this week difficult. Fruity ice lollies have been one of my cravings though I've been having about 2 a day so stocked up our freezer at work, today everyone has been begging for one lol. It been 26/27 degrees & I'm up north in Cumbria!
It's so exciting everyone going for scans we're halfway there eek 😀

Oh I definitely agree about the fruit ice lollies. Have never really bothered with them before but I am loving Rowntree fruit pastel ones at the moment. It's the only thing keeping me going in the heat.

Iemma, your post reminded me I have some in the freezer and now I've just demolished 2 of them, I blame you all

Btw ladies I heard from my nutritionist pal that exposing your bump to the sun (when it's out!) for 20 mins with no sun cream can help boost your babies vitamin D level, which apparently a lot of us are deficient in. I did it yesterday, even put a timer on so I didn't forget!

Is everyone still taking their prenatal vitamin? I'm taking the Terra Nova prenatal multivitamin complex. It tastes rank but it's completely natural which I like. And I think it's helped my skin too as for the first time in ages and I don't have any spots at all!!

Hey gimble that's a good tip! I've taken high strength vit D3 before & during this pregnancy, it's a really good thing for us as well as the baby - you can read up so much on the benefits. Sun is great too although I did burn my back at the beach yesterday!! Ow. The other vits i always take are fish oil (without vitamin A), vit C, vit B6, Folate & Magnesium. I've never liked multivitamins would prefer to take individually so I can control amounts etc xx

I have discovered another unattractive side effect of pregnancy - varicose veins!!! Two lovely purple blue clumps of them at the top of each thigh. Anyone else?

There is a Facebook group, I've tried to invite a couple people on here but I'm not the group admin so not sure if the invites worked. If the two that did send me a pm can confirm if they got the invite from Facebook so I know if it's working before inviting others. If it hasn't worked I'll send a msg to the admin of the group to see if she can.

Facebook told me invites were sent but you never know! The 2 that sent me their emails you should have got a Facebook invite email.

is anyone having a baby shower? I am.not fussed either way but just had a txt from my friend telling me they have organised one and to save the date!!! it made me a bit excited it's the weekend I finish work for maternity so something else to look forward too!!!!

green-trees my friend from work and I are having a joint baby shower cus she's due 3 and a half weeks before me. We're just making it a casual BBQ and both men and women from both sides are invited.

I have a small rather embarrassing varicose vein that only appears when I'm pregnant. I found it when giving myself a fairly thorough bikini wax whilst pregnant with my son and I think it's just come back this time but haven't been so assiduous about personal grooming this time so I'm not certain.

I'm not having a baby shower but it's mainly because I don't like all attention on me I'm helping to arrange one for my friend due end of August though.
When is everyone thinking of finishing work? I have 3 & half weeks holiday to use but not sure to finish earlier like around August bank holiday or wait & see if I'm ok up until mid September & keep holidays to use at the end although my boss says I will have to use some of them up before (our hols Jan-Dec) as can only carry a certain amount into next year. It's all confusing some people are saying work right up as much as I can & others are saying finish August bank hol & relax for a bit before. I've also noticed a few varicose veins pop up on my legs, I hope they disappear.

Butterfly I have to use all my holiday up before I go on leave so my plan a was to start mat leave the beginning of the week I'm due (due 4th Oct) and use my holiday stacked in front of it view to leave around 1st September.

I worked as long as I could during my first pregnancy. DS was due on the Sunday and I should have finished on the Friday but went into labour on the Thursday. A colleague told me that babies are more likely to turn up on time if mums work up until the due date because it keeps them more active. She is a scientist but I'm not sure if that's a fact or just her pet theory. I was glad I did that as he was over one before he had to go to nursery and developed a lot in that last month.

This time I'm doing the opposite. I have seven weeks annual leave to use up (some accrued during my last maternity leave and all of this year's and I'll be taking maternity leave ten weeks before the due date so I'm finishing at the end of this week! I'm mainly doing that as DS attends nursery at my workplace and we commute together. It's an hour and a half each way (train and tube) plus carrying him on my back for ten minutes at each end of the journey. It's been ok through the winter but on warm days my legs are really sore, I think due to the joints loosening. It'll be nice to have the summer at home with DS and do lots with him before the baby arrives.

I'm not sure about a baby shower, I don't like being centre of attention either but I do like the thought of perhaps going for some nice cake/afternoon tea with friends, especially if there is cake. Did I mention cake?!

I am due on the 19th so my current thought is to start my maternity leave on my due date but actually finish work a couple of weeks before that by using up my leave, but obviously if I feel very tired and uncomfortable by then I may have to finish earlier.

Thanks all its good to get some ideas. I'll have to let work know in a few weeks so I'll probs try & work as long as I can. @mrsbumblebees afternoon tea & cake sounds good! I might suggest this to a few close friends. 😀
I don't feel organised at all I need to start buying things, I'm off to buy some material & try & make some bunting for the baby's room (neutral colours) as its raining here today & cant be bothered to do lots of housework on a bank holiday. I just want to sit & eat lol.

I'm all for a baby shower purely because I'm a twin and I've shared every special occasion and with it being my first, I think it's exciting!

Baby showers seem to have really grown in popularity recently. Most of my close friends had their kids a few years ago and didn't have a baby shower, so it would feel a bit weird for me to have one. I wouldn't say no if it was offered though!

Has anyone got their MATB1 form yet? When do you get it? I run my own business and my accountant says I need to fill it in asap as the government take ages to sort things out.

I'm going to have a meet up with people before they are born but not a baby shower as such (also might seem in appropriate as it will probably be in a pub 😂).

Presents will be much appreciated however....!!

My midwife said I will get my Matb1 form at my next midwife app at 25weeks in July! So I guess that's standard around that time?
I was thinking about baby showers too - my friends who have had babies in the last couple of years have had them but others before that not - I don't know if that's coz they don't want to or if no one organised one!!! But it's defo become more popular! x

My sister and best friends are organising my baby shower for me at their request! My mum is already trying to stick her nose in and organise it herself (and invite all sorts of strange people that I won't want there) but I'm going to be assertive and tell her no! And mine is going to be in a pub too I want it to be a casual thing where people can eat/drink what and when they want but the rest is up to my friends to decide, I'm really looking forward to it! I think cos I'm the first of my friends and family to sprog that I'm getting special attention which works for me!

Also- SUPER SCAN DAY TOMORROW who else is in the scan club tomorrow? I'm in at 12 and really hoping that baby is healthy and we find out the gender. Already for butterflies!!!
