We're getting a bugaboo bee 5. Luckily buying it at cost price from a family friend who runs a baby business. Needed something really light as I'm in a first floor flat with no lift and live in London and need something super slim and nippy. Still not sure whether to bother with the carrycot too but think I can always just sell it if we don't use it much.

DP and I went to John Lewis yesterday and looked at some baby clothes. We were looking at some vests and he says 'is this a babygrow?' Haha think he's got a lot to learn!

PingusMistress · 11/05/2017 19:09

Are there any other pram option suggestions for cars with small boots? We will need something cheaper (or second hand) to fit in a BMW i3. DDs old Quinny will be our main pram but it will only fit in our boring estate car that I hate driving!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 12/05/2017 06:56

Sorry pingu, we have a people carrier so having a small pram isn't something we have to worry about.

We have a baby jogger city select which was fab as a double. More flexible in seating options than an I candy peach, the same carrycot can go upper or lower, you don't have to buy a different one for upper or lower like the I candy. The seats are set apart better, so the back child does actually have space and also has a view as the front child is seated lower down. Highly recommend it to anyone who needs a double now or who plans another dc soon after this one. Feel sad that it will only be used as a single for us now, as ds2 is nearly 5 so his pushchair days are long gone.

doomkittycleo · 12/05/2017 20:12

Just found a bargain, Phillips electric breast pump, newborn starter kit and microwave steriliser all for £78 on amazon. They have an offer on until 22nd may if you buy multiple items. The breast pump alone is normally £115.

Cineraria · 12/05/2017 20:58

That's a good offer. I used the Phillips electric pump to express for DS, as we had to dissolve some medicine for him in expressed milk, and hope to use it again with the next baby after replacing the contact parts. I took part in a research study on breast pumps, so was given the pump rather than choosing it myself but I'd definitely recommend it. I liked the fact that you can lean back with it more than with most pumps.

I bought their microwave steriliser too and really liked it but I think their storage pots took up to much room in the freezer compared to the bags other brands use.

Based on another thread I read, how much weight has everyone been putting on? I think I've gained about 5lbs and I'll be 18 wks on Sunday

PeachesandPie · 13/05/2017 07:42

Sophie I'm 16+4 and have put on 5lbs. I had put on 9lbs up to a couple of weeks ago but my sickness has increased this past week so I'm down 4lbs again. 5lbs is nothing by 18 weeks!

ButterflyGem · 13/05/2017 08:57

I think I've put on about half a stone & I'll be 19 weeks tomorrow. Although I never usually weigh myself as I usually stay the same weight all the time. The last few days I've had a really stuffy nose, puffy eyes, headache & kind of a tight/sore throat. I'm not sure if it could be hayfever which I've never had before, could this happen just when pregnant?
I've decided to shop around for prams too & not rush to buy now as there are so many to pick from & I'm sure there'll be more offers on over the next bank holiday, when I should feel better after the next scan. 😃Although my husband is doing my head in saying just to get the offer I'd seen (it finishes tomorrow) as he doesn't want to spend any more, 'it's just a pram/car seat' are his words & was calling me fussy & a snob! 😤 I just think we should get the best we can comfortably afford & get a good deal when possible also buying from a shop seems more secure, these things are important aren't they. He has no idea, annoying cos he'd have no problem spending money on cars/bikes/tools for himself 🙈 Xx

pollybythesea · 13/05/2017 09:09

I've put on 6lbs and I'm 18 weeks tomorrow. I have an app called Ideal Pregnancy Weight which plots my weight on a chart between max and min lines which I find reassuring.

TippetyTapWriter · 13/05/2017 09:22

Snap polly I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and also put on 6lbs! I think it'd be more but my appetite has disappeared the last few weeks which is weird as I was starving constantly during my first pregnancy. I've been ill though with sinusitis and recently stomach pains. Thought I was coming down with the sickness bug that's going around here but it's been going on for days so I think it's probably pregnancy related. Really uncomfortable though.

I'm not sure whether to buy a double buggy or not as ds will be 2.5 when this one comes. Was hoping to get away with keeping him in our current buggy (icandy strawberry) and having new baby in sling for first six months, then getting a buggy board for him and putting new one in the buggy. But I found slings tricky to use last time round and ds wasn't a fan. Fingers crossed it'll work better this time!

Cineraria · 13/05/2017 10:07

I'm wondering about transporting two around too, Tippety. I'll definitely get a pram top toddler seat for my old Silver Cross pram for going locally to town, park and the doctors/hospital/health visitor; they are all about a mile away and I don't drive, so it's perfect for me. We had an icandy apple travel system too, for when we go out by car with DH, which can convert to a double with a pair of adapters and a different carry cot. I don't think that's worth it though, as I think the pushchair seat needs to be in a reclining position to use it and DS barely tolerates it in its most upright position as he hates leaning back at all. I was wondering what age he can use a buggy board.

I have a long woven wrap for DS and he lived in it as a baby, just to keep upright as he had silent reflux. I still love it for public transport trips and use it to carry him on my back from the station to my work/his nursery every day. I'll probably use that for the new baby and am thinking of getting another wrap to use so I can carry the new one on my front and DS on my back at the same time. Maybe a shorter one would do now he's less fidgety and prone to standing up in it than he used to be.

I was thinking I had almost everything I need for the new baby until I wrote that out! I'd better get saving!

GimbleInTheWabe · 13/05/2017 11:01

I had lost about 4/5lbs in my first trimester but now I am 6lbs heavier than my pre-preg weight. so I guess I have kinda put on about 10lbs since my first trimester which seems a bit Shockbut then again my diet and exercise has gone out the window since our bathroom renovation began (luckily it's finished now!) so hopefully I can get it back on track if I start swimming and eating better again.
My super slim friend put on 3 st when she was pg, not that you could tell and now she's a size 6/8 again. I really don't wanna pile on the pounds but it seems my body is working against me!

SophieGiroux · 13/05/2017 14:05

I'm not too worried about the weight gain. I don't run anymore but have tried to keep up the activity levels by walking a lot. I know the weight fell off last time as I had a baby who wouldn't be put down so had limited chances to eat. Also went on long walks with the pram which I'm quite looking forward to doing again.

TippetyTapWriter · 13/05/2017 19:38

Wow cineraria you must be strong! I gave up carrying ds at about 10 months! He weighs about 13kg now and I worry about the weight of him plus newborn in a double buggy. I'd have to get a tandem as we've got stupidly narrow doors and I need to bump it down quite a few steps so can't carry a folded twin buggy out of the house. And ds would have to sit at front because there's no way he'd be happy at the back. I tried him in a few at mothercare and I could hardly tip the front wheels up to get up kerbs etc. Also don't think we can really afford a new buggy anyway and unfortunately our strawberry doesn't convert to a double. With hindsight I should have bought a different house and a different buggy!

TippetyTapWriter · 13/05/2017 20:05

Meant to ask, does anyone have any recommendations for comfortable non-underwired bras that actually give a bit of support and shape? I've just measured myself today and gone from 34b to 34f!! So I definitely need some new bras but spent ages in m&s trying stuff on today with no luck.

pollybythesea · 13/05/2017 21:25

Hey Tippetty I went from 34E to 38E - I went to m&s and got one of their total support non-wire range bras (not the maternity range). I wore them before as well & theyre great! I booked a fitting to make sure of the sizing - you can book online. Hope that helps.

Corrinax · 13/05/2017 22:12

@tippety i was 32E and tried loads of bras even the Fs were too small i thought i am no way trying a G thats just stupid lol so i got this bra i think it was from john lewis it was £30 but iv never had something more comfortable i need to buy another as i wear mine everyday lol its a nursing bra too called body silk seemless and comes in small medium or large etc so i got the large n its amazing so even when boobs get even bigger its stretches to fit 👌 bravado designs Signature nursing bra it says on the box

PeachesandPie · 14/05/2017 06:43

Tippety I got one from Freya in that size which fits amazingly and looks and feels just like a wired bra but more comfortable! I had to size up by 10 weeks so think I'm going to need to go up again soon and will definitely buy this bra again. It was £27 so not cheap but not ridiculous either.

Rayna37 · 14/05/2017 08:54

Tippety I'm amazed your back size hasn't increased, I'd gone from 32 to 36 by about 10 weeks: rib cage expansion not weight, kept the same cup size, as normally you decrease cup size as you increase back size (so I suppose this is an increase too). Just got M&S non underwires, a couple of different styles both been ok. Wired is fine as long they fit properly though; you'd probably have to buy more often as you develop.

Rayna37 · 14/05/2017 09:02

I've put on about 8-9lbs at 19wks, compared to my lowest weight in Feb. Lost weight through Jan by eating sensibly after going wild with the festive carbs in Nov and Dec. I quickly went off salad though and replacing my usual lunch salad with sandwiches won't have helped!

TippetyTapWriter · 14/05/2017 19:15

Thanks for suggestions everyone, will check them out! Rayna it did last time, but I think only in third trimester so I expect same will happen again. And everything will just carry on getting bigger. It starts getting expensive!

confusedat23 · 14/05/2017 20:40

Loopy sorry it has taken me ages to get back to you.. thank you for your info about your friend!

I understand that it hightens risk of Misscarriage before 20 weeks by 3-4 times... i'm having a private Scan on Friday at 17 weeks and I can feel bubba moving so trying to stay positive and carry on as normal until 20 week scan.

I also know a baby with Low Papp-a is not viable until 28 weeks which is why my trust won't do a scan before then without any extra problems being raised at 20 week scan because the babies are small so simply the cannot do anything to help until baby is 560g in weight which is roughly 28 weeks with low papp-a as babies are small normally!

Basically me and DH have read all the info and been very very honest with Work about it including the risk of misscarriage/still birth and luckily everyone is so so supportive (considering i work in a male bias job it is even more surprising) and we are just staying as hopeful and talking to baby saying it will all be ok!

Anyways just wanted to say thank you for replying ❤

Trytowin · 15/05/2017 00:30

Can't sleep! 20 week scan later and can't switch off! Roll on 10.30 am I suppose.

So nervous and excited, want to find out if everything is ok and what we are going to have.

My husband is so laid back (he's snoring away ATM)

leannejade · 15/05/2017 06:15

Trytowin good luck! Let us know how you get on!

TippetyTapWriter · 15/05/2017 08:32

Sorry you're going through all this stress and uncertainty, confused. Sending you lots of luck and hope you get positive news soon. Good luck for Friday!

Good luck for today too trytowin! So impatient to have mine especially as 18 weeks now and not feeling baby move (it's my second so thought I might!). Hope you get some lovely views of your bub.
