trytowin I hope you managed to get some sleep!
I have my 20 week scan too in a couple of hours - an hour after you in fact and im now a complete mixture of really excited to see baby again and completely scared stupid!
Hope yours goes OK! Are you finding out the sex?

Anyone else who has an anterior placenta struggling to decide what is movement and what isn't?! Iam getting weird bubbly/rolling movements from time to time ... and most of the time I don't think its gas! But I cant decide if im just desperate to feel something that im starting to imagine it!!

Hope everyone has a good Monday morning! :)

Trytowin · 15/05/2017 09:45

Hi Wasp

No I didn't! Sob! Yes we would like to find out though they may be hiding lol. Most important that everything's ok but to find out would be the cherry on top. Are you finding out?

Leaving in a few mins as parking a nightmare at the hospital. Not sure if I'm supposed to drink or not nothing has been said but I am plus sized so having a weak coffee and going half and half! Have not felt anything yet :-( but again could be my too much junk in the belly. Was looking to lose weight before but baby obviously couldn't wait and I 'fell' in a couple months!

Glitterbubble · 15/05/2017 11:41

Good luck trytowin let us know how you get on xx

Glitterbubble · 15/05/2017 11:42

And waspsmahoney !! Good luck!! X

Cineraria · 15/05/2017 11:55

Good luck both of you. Hope it all goes well.

I'll be 20 weeks on Wednesday but my scan isn't until the 25th May. It seems ages to wait.

wapsmahoney · 15/05/2017 13:52

trytowin I hope your scan all went well! Let us know how you got on :)

Am back from mine and baby is all looking good! Growth is bang on date too and the sonographer said she had no concerns so that is a massive weight lifted now!

Plus we did manager to find out the sex .... we are having a girl!
Im so excited! Although I was convinced it was a boy.
I know my DH really wanted a boy but he still seemed excited ... she will just have to do lots of sport and get into rugby and bikes!!!

20 weeks today so officially half way ... roll on October!!

Glitterbubble · 15/05/2017 16:28

That's fab news waspsmahoney Grin

leannejade · 15/05/2017 16:55

I had my 16 week appointment today. Felt like the most pointless thing.
I moved so this was the first time meeting this midwife even though she knew how far along I was, she thought this was my first ever appointment.
Didn't get to hear the heartbeat which I knew there was a chance they wouldn't do it, but still disappointing.
2.5 weeks til the anomaly scan!

GimbleInTheWabe · 15/05/2017 17:30

I'm 20 weeks today too wasp! Can't believe that half the pregnancy is over already. Also - yay at a little girl! I'm also convinced I'm having a boy so we'll have to see. I think I'd feel a bit disappointed if it was a girl, not because I'm desperate for a boy, neither is DP, but I've just got so used to the idea of a boy that if it's a girl I think I'll be all Confused

At my hospital we don't have the scan until 22 weeks so I still have 2 weeks to wait until mine, I can't wait!! I've felt lots of movement (at least I think I have!) and have really popped the last few weeks and lots of people are commenting on my bump now.

tryto lets us know how you get on and good luck!

My flat renovations continue with getting our gorgeous wood flooring laid today- bye bye horrible carpet! My back is aching now after a day of bending over.

greentreeseverywhere · 15/05/2017 19:19

my scans on Friday and iv started over thinking it today Hmm there's no reasing for anything to be wrong but iam a worry wort!!! my bump has definitely grown this last week but seems to be more from my ribcage/under my boobs. has anyone else got this?!

Trytowin · 15/05/2017 19:44

Hey thanks for the wishes

Had my scan but baby was hiding. No idea if girl or boy, they couldn't do all the required measurements so I need to go back. Doc after took shine off my scan grrr but the sonographer was lovely (why couldn't I see the doc first rather than last!). So to turn it around if anyone is good with skull theory pic below... Guesses welcome as we were really hoping to find out!

Rayna37 · 15/05/2017 20:26

I've got the hump now I've grasped my Mum's booked a holiday just over 5 weeks after my due date. I know that's unreasonable, I suspect it simply hasn't occurred to her that I might have assumed she'd be available if e.g. I go two weeks over due date then have complications or a c section and need/want some help at home. First grandchild, she's early 70's, both her and my step-dad are long retired. I've no family near where we live. I imagine this hasn't even crossed her mind or she quite rightly doesn't think it's her responsibility! She wouldn't know paternity leave is 2 weeks and definitely wouldn't have read my mind to know I thought I'd get them to visit for a week or two once my husband's gone back to work. Chances are everything will be fine, on time etc and she'd do my nut in anyway after a day or so!

pollybythesea · 15/05/2017 20:35

I think boy trytowin! Sorry today didn't work out as you hoped. Maybe you could have a private gender test? I think they start at £30

boxesoffrogs · 15/05/2017 21:17

Great to see all the scans and congrats to those on finding out what they are having!

I seriously need some help. I have had the worst heartburn I have ever had in my life since saturday, excruciatingly painful, to the point it's made me throw up. I am terrified to eat or drink anything, especially in the evening when it seems to get worse.

Has anyone got any advice or tips? Tried chewing gaviscon tablets, drinking ginger tea, but I've never really had it before, especially not like this, so I am at a loss as to what to do. It's bloody hideous.

pollybythesea · 15/05/2017 21:44

Sorry to hear that boxes - maybe try your gp and ask for omeprazole?

mummabubs · 15/05/2017 22:16

Sorry, been off MN for a few days as DH and I went camping over the weekend (not my idea and wouldn't recommend it to others who are 5 months pregnant and still being sick every day!!) 😂 Afraid I can't help boxes but hope you find relief soon. @greentreeseverywhere my bump has grown there too- If I bend my boobs touch my stomach which I've never experienced before, very odd!

Congrats all who have made it to the halfway mark and had their scans! I've got mine on Friday and given that at my 12 week scan my sonographer changed me to high risk consultant-led (from low-risk midwife led) without even telling me I'm slightly anxious about my consultant appointment (straight after scan). DH googled what the sonographer wrote in the notes and it came up with horror stories of increased risk of late loss and congenital defects so I'm trying to keep a level head and ignore google... whilst also cursing the sonographer for telling me when I asked about whether bicornuate wombs were anything to worry about "no, it just means you've got a funny shaped womb". It was at that stage she wrote in notes that I needed to be cons-led but neglected to tell me, the receptionist outside broke the news to me and I wasn't too happy! Fingers crossed this one goes better, and that I don't have to have my bladder quite as painfully full this time! 😂

GimbleInTheWabe · 15/05/2017 22:53

boxes I also had really bad heartburn the last couple of weeks and I agree that it is totally miserable. I found that (sadly) it was worse when I ate anything chocolately or if I ate too close to bedtime and then I'd get it badly as I settled down before bed and when I'd lay down too. It's actually stopped the last week so hopefully it's just a passing symptom for you too. I didn't take any medication etc to ease it but just drank lots of little sips of water when it flared up.

Is everyone still taking their multivitamins? I've been a bit forgetful with mine recently Confused I have found mine have really helped with my skin and when I don't take them as religiously I do get a couple of spots.

mummabubs I'm sorry you had a crappy doctor experience. Are you still confused about your risk level then? If so could you request a phone call with your midwife to go over everything? There's nothing worse than turning to Dr Google but I know we've all done it in the past and it could help clear your mind of any questions.

try I say GIRL!

Rayna it's a shame your mum booked her holiday then, could she have forgotten that's so close to your due date? Everyone keeps asking me again when I'm due as the date isn't as ingrained in their mind as it is mine so it could be that she didn't realise? Is she going away for long? You might find that you don't want family around too much though, lots of other mums have said to me that they found it a bit overwhelming feeling like they had to host and look after a newborn, be knackered, recovering etc.

mummabubs · 15/05/2017 23:14

Oh I know Gimble, hence why I didn't google it! I saw my midwife for my 16 week appointment and she was honest in saying that she didn't know much about it so it's best to just be led by what the consultant says... fingers crossed!

wapsmahoney · 16/05/2017 08:41

GimbleInTheWabe What is your due date? I was completely convinced we were having a boy and we started getting excited about our names shortlist and getting ideas for the nursery etc ... but I am over the moon that we are having a girl! I thought DH would be disappointed but he is equally as excited! I guess the good thing is knowing now we have time to get our heads around it!

Trytowin Ah lovely scan photo! I can imagine it must have been really annoying that baby wasn't co-operating ... but think of it this was ... you have another chance to see them!

boxesoffrogs Have you tried sweets like palmer violets (if you're a fan!!) or love hearts ... I was recommended them and they seem to help! I think its the kind of chalkiness of them! I hope its not causing too much pain ... it really isn't fun.

88claire · 16/05/2017 11:42

Found out today at 16+4 that I am having a little girl! Absolutely thrilled we were hoping for a girl but had convinced myself it's a boy....!

October 2017 #4!
Loopyaboutmy2boys · 16/05/2017 12:15

confused I wish you all the best over the coming weeks/months, and will pray for a good outcome like the second baby my friend had.

Nice to hear people having good scans.

I'll be 18 weeks on Saturday, so 20 weeks until we will meet her all being well. Next scan is booked for 6/6, then will be seeing the consultant and having a scan every 4 weeks starting at 24 weeks. It means i will only see the midwife at my GP's at 34 weeks, plus the booking in appt that I had in early April! Have had 6 scans already, with another 5 in the diary will mean 11 scans, which is mental but rather reassuring.

boxesoffrogs · 16/05/2017 15:34

Thanks for all the advice re the heartburn. Will try out the various remedies.

Just been sent home from work with a cracking migraine (this is about the fourth one I've had in the last couple of weeks), blurred vision etc. Serves me right for being all smug, thinking I had got off lightly with the lack of morning sickness.

Does anyone think I should text my midwife to ask if I should get it checked out? Don't want to bother her unnecessarily but these headaches and heartburn are really starting to worry me...

Congrats 88

Corrinax · 16/05/2017 19:47

Is anyone feeling any movement at 19 weeks? X

Allykatz · 16/05/2017 21:18

I think I have felt movement for weeks. I'm 19+1 today. This is my 2nd pregnancy (to gwt rhis far) though. But I would say clear hits and kicks over the last couple of weeks. Don't panic though. On my notes cover it talks about not monitoring until 24 weeks, so u guess that's when they expect all to have a routine

Allykatz · 16/05/2017 21:21

Sometimes an ice cold drink my do the trick Wink
