Mighty have you done NCT classes? Our teacher was good on CS and very clear that you still had options and could make a birth plan.

And yes to a park London meet!

jennymac31 · 01/04/2017 04:28

Anyone else awake now?

Keep waking up at 3.30 in the morning then taking ages to fall asleep. Could do with the rest, given that the in-laws anniversary party starts in 7 hours time. Found out there will be approximately 150 people there. Oh joy!

RasperryInAMelon · 01/04/2017 06:03

@PeachIcedT heated blanket!! 😳 I had to get rid of mine and go down to the summer duvet with the windows cracked!

@ClaireSunflower Make sure you get some rest this weekend!

@vanilla8 I'm with you, need to sort out the bra situation. Mentioned before I hate wearing a bra at the best of times but clothes in bed makes me a sweaty monster so I need something very light and breathable... will check out hot milk

@mightymouse76 nice to have you back with us. Make sure you don't overdo it with work in the coming weeks 💐

@jennymac31 ive been awake for at least an hour... resisted temptation to pick up my phone but got bored after a while 🙈 DH is snoring away next to me...

lullaby23 · 01/04/2017 06:12

Wow jenny good luck with the big crowd, hope you can find a quietish corner to hide out.

Congrats to all the ladies who finished work, sounds like you were well looked after by your colleagues Smile

mightymouse my CS experience was positive. I was nervous too which I think is normal! The worst part for me was getting the spinal as it took two attempts. After that the anaethetist put in a cannula (didn't hurt) and I think they give you some kind of calming drug as well as anaesthetic as I felt SO chilled out, DH couldn't believe how chatty and calm I was when he was called in. I have mentioned before this time I will ask for baby to stay with me in recovery and agree still have a birth plan as there are certain things you can ask for. Before you know it you're wheeled off. The recovery is not the easiest but it's manageable and you will have painkillers for a while. I never personally felt upset to have missed out on a natural birth but I think it's a normal reaction.

lullaby23 · 01/04/2017 06:15

Oh and sorry forgot who was asking but you could try this nursing bra website, you can filter by underwired etc and they do have some Hotmilk styles. I'm going to be ordering some unsexy but comfy looking stretchy numbers for the first few weeks Grin

1004Rise · 01/04/2017 06:52

Oooo @jennymac31 that's a lot Confused I think your plan for a comfy corner is a good one. Remember you're allowed to leave if you're tired.

@PeachIcedT heated blanket?!? We still have the winter duvet on (or off me for the most part) but the windows are open, my bump is like a radiator... DH is grateful of my wrap around pillow to keep the heat away from himBlush

I'm quite impressed I slept all the way through til 6am... when did 6am become a lie in?!!Hmm

@nursebickypegs are the extra freckles caused by the same thing that causes the strange line down your bump?

Haven't found any stretch marks (yet) but my outy belly button is now flattening out as it's more stretched, I'm constantly amazed that there is any more stretch left Confused

Brightsmoke · 01/04/2017 07:56

I've been given a pack of reusable nappies by my council as an incentive to use reusable. However, having looked into it, it's really not for me 😷 does anyone any the pack to look at/need a couple of spares? Seems pointless me just having them sitting around doing nothing!

ClaireSunflower · 01/04/2017 08:06

Hi mighty, I'm another one with a low placenta. I had a scan to see if it had moved last Monday (at 33 weeks) and it hasn't so I have to get rescanned at 36 weeks again. So despite my midwife telling me it would definitely have moved by 32 weeks it's looking likely I'll be having a csection too. I'm trying to think positively about it and if it's the only safe way to get the baby out then that's what it's going to be but I know what you mean about feeling cheated of a natural birth too. I'm trying to prepare myself for both eventualities and not really enjoying the uncertainty but there is not a lot I can do about that for now. Hopefully some of the ladies on the thread will have positive csection stories for us!

I'm feeling a lot better today, think I was just run down after a week of work. Only 3 more to go! I've got my last yoga class this morning. The place I do it at run it in blocks of 6 weeks and the next block doesn't start till I'll be 37 weeks so I'm calling it a day but all the girls are meeting after for coffee and cake so that is my plan for the day! Cake

beanturnipandspud · 01/04/2017 08:07

@mightymouse76 have a Google at gentle c-section .. it is not for everyone but may be for you. I had planned this for my first when he was breech but he flipped at last minute so managed a vaginal birth.
I am thinking about you 💖

yellowismyfavourite · 01/04/2017 08:17

mighty sorry your having such a rubbish time but nice to see you back

I am so tired after a night of BH/trapped wind/contractions/not sure... After 5 hours they were getting really painful and much more intense. Got up and all is quiet again... Going to potter round the house for a bit before maybe going back to bed

I'm another one with no stretchmarks yet but I do have that strange line even though it is very faint

Tickyboovicki · 01/04/2017 08:53

@BrightSmoke I'm considering using them but getting a bit bamboozled by all the info out there! Which ones did your council send you?

nursebickypegs · 01/04/2017 09:25

@1004Rise I think it was @Teaspoon74 who told me the technical term for the more freckles. Im just covered in them on my face!

Oh @mightymouse76 I got a CS book which is heavily biased towards CS, but gives you something to prepare for.

I'm so uncomfortable and heavy. I want to spend today in bed!

1004Rise · 01/04/2017 09:36

@yellowismyfavourite just had a look at the spreadsheet and realised how close your due date is... are you checking your hospital bag this morning???

FoxMulder · 01/04/2017 09:50

@mightymouse sorry placenta isn't behaving. There is a natal hypnotherapy cd for CS and also have a Google of "gentle sections" or "family friendly sections". Are they going to scan you again to make sure it hasn't moved before D-day?

Re: bras I'm in a bit of a quandary over this one. I've been wearing the same nursing bras for 3 years now but I've gone up 2 cup sizes. Whether to get more now or wait and make do with cropped tops in the meantime?

teainbed · 01/04/2017 10:33

Good to hear from you mighty and sorry to hear things have been tough though excellent news about your good diabetic control.

Anyone else at the point that it might be easier to be not pregnant anymore? There is a tipping point somewhere isn't there? If I wasn't pregnant I would be able to do stuff standing up for longer than 5 minutes and climb the stairs in my house in one go rather than having to stop twice. Bending over would be good. On the other hand my sleep isn't too bad and would be much worse with a newborn and currently I have time to do errands and stuff which I wouldn't have either with a newborn. But if I'd had the baby others can do stuff for the baby whereas currently I am the only one carrying it about!

Not sure that made sense but it's where my brain is today. Grin

yellowismyfavourite · 01/04/2017 10:39

@1004Rise it's on my to do list for this morning!
tea I know exactly what you mean... am looking forward to when DH can take some responsibility for this baby!

1004Rise · 01/04/2017 11:09

@teainbed totally with you! I was quite pleased with myself this morning for painting my toenails.... til it dawned on me they may look worse in a couple of weeks when I won't be able to reach them anymore than if I'd just left them Hmm

MrsJW15 · 01/04/2017 11:29

tea I'm jealous - my sleep is terrible! I don't think I'm really getting to sleep before 2 which is tough during the week.

Definitely looking forward to DH helping out.

I'm getting a pedicure tomorrow. And then possibly again on Mat leave. Looking forward to having nice toes - and maybe getting the Birkenstocks out!

Autumnsweater · 01/04/2017 11:57

teainbed yes - I've been worried about labour/actually having a child to look after for months. Last two weeks this has totally switched to looking forward to being able to put my shoes on and improvement in PGP. Excited about the cute baby to look after too now, the nerves have gone on that mostly (not sure if hormones or done some research so feel more prepared - prob both)

Rustler74 · 01/04/2017 12:08

@teainbed I'm with you on that. Today I was awake earlyish but my body is just complaining the whole time. After I'd done my weekly duty of shaving OH's hair, I had to rest for 20 minutes on the bed! Loads of kicking going on at that time so I got distracted big time until I started dozing. OH came in to ask me if I wanted breakfast (I'd had 2 giant crumpets already by that time) and now after my post second breakfast shower I've draped myself in the sofa. Just chilling until lunch is all I can manage.
I have also suggested buying 13 kg of sugar and place it in a rucksack for him to carry along!

EsmesBees · 01/04/2017 12:10

MrsJW I've got my birkies out for the first time today. It's gorgeous out. My toes are rather neglected though.

Think my cold has turned into a sinus infection. Had absolutely no patience with my toddler this morning which is not like me. I'm hardly getting any sleep at the moment as I can't breathe. I really miss being able to take medication when I'm ill.

1004Rise · 01/04/2017 12:31

@EsmesBees can you get menthol crystals, pharmacist told me they were ok while pregnant, bit more potent than just steaming with boiling water.

Definitely not warm enough for bare feet yet, pedicure would be a good idea but I can't stand other people touching my feet ConfusedBlush

FoxMulder · 01/04/2017 12:33

Jealous of those who can chill out. I'm looking after the toddler while DH works on his shed in the rain.

FoxMulder · 01/04/2017 12:36

I wouldn't make anyone go near my feet - I have a gross nail infection that I can't take meds for Confused

nursebickypegs · 01/04/2017 12:44

@teainbed yup! I had that thought this morning. If I have to wait until May 22 I might cry as I feel huge currently and I get so tired.

DH has been offered a promotion (subject to performance); but it starts May 1 and states "no holiday to be taken in this time" in the 3 weeks induction. He's going to have a word with his manager; if Bub arrives May 22 that's great but knowing our luck...!
