@MissMooMoo yay!!

RedBlu · 31/03/2017 19:09

Re Dyson's we have the AM09 which cost about £399 but has gone down to nearer £250 before or you could pick up the older model AM04/AM05 second hand for less. However the older models are far far louder than the newer ones. We had one of the older models before and the AM09 is so much quieter. The newest one they do is nearly £500 I think but it has an air purifier in or something?

They are all very expensive but we decided as the one we got was a heater and a fan, it could be used year round. Plus, it looks nice!

Had a letter from the health visitor today, the letter just comes across as they want to nose around the house and ask personal questions!! Had to call and ask for a different date and time as hopefully I will be back at work when they want to visit / nose

PeachIcedT · 31/03/2017 19:10

So only properly catching up now – I’m at the end of my time off work (using up end of leave year annual leave) and back from a super-mini one night babymoon. Spent a good chunk of that in a spa tourist hotspot and had my first antenatal massage which was bliss! Though it was the kind where I laid on my left side only (they wouldn’t have me roll over to right side despite me sometimes sleeping on that side through the night – but were ok with me laying on my back?). Not the bump shaped cut-out on the massage table I had envisaged but still very relaxing all the same. Spent a lot of it thinking I couldn’t do this with a child…

Perineal massage… I’ve had a safari page open on my phone for the last few months (always do this when I put something off) and have not yet returned to it, but I guess it’s time to give it a try! May need to enlist some help from DH.

Those with your last day today I hope you have a good send off and now you can relax! Woohoo to no more commutes and rude commuters! I will be joining the happy finished feeling in 4 weeks’ time all going to plan – sounds so long but luckily only one of those is a full week thanks to Easter.

What’s all this about being boiling at night? I’m still using my heated underblanket! Am a long way off needing a fan.

@ShiniBerry I hope you have a great first NCT class. I only brought along a pillow on the occasion we practised massage, though if the chairs at yours are anything like the ones I sit on in mine, the small of your back will thank you for some extra padding.

@1004Rise it’s great you got such a quick viewing – it must be strange having someone coming in and commenting on your house – I’m going to have to get used to that as I’m hoping to start that process in about a year. Hope you get an offer on it soon.

@newbieho is it just you going or DH too? I think depending on how you’re feeding it should be doable – we both have tickets booked for the World Athletics Championships in August and am wondering how to manage as I have no idea how we’d get up in a crowd to change a nappy/soothe a crying baby (basically I have no idea what I’m doing!) Confused.

@nursebickypegs sorry to hear he didn’t pass this time, but I can tell you now I’d fail if I got parallel parking too! I would also be irritated by the assumption it was me taking the test.

@BouncingBlueberry Angry M&S seem to always intercept me too! Last time they pressurised me into a fitting where they gave me a bra with no band support whatsoever – they are trying to help but you know what you want and can ask them if you want advice. You could always buy the one you wanted online?

@MissMooMoo that’s great news about the placenta and a good estimation on the size! Must be a relief.

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 19:25

@BouncingBlueberry you can wear whatever bra you want! I hate people making assumptions. M&S are over zealous with their sales staff in the bra section if I'm honest!

@RasperryInAMelon your last day sounds lovely and those presents sound divine! I'm so happy for you. Yes I said to him that emphasising looking at your mirrors isn't that hard. I just looked at his test sheet and there's nothing else noted so I'm reminding him that he has done incredibly well and I'm proud of him; he's kept seizures under control for well over 12 months so he can learn. It's not hard having epilepsy and having his wife drive everywhere, and I think he wants to be able to drive around with little one when the time comes. He deserves that independence. I offered to drive him home as he looked so defeated, but he drove back perfectly. I don't want this knocking his confidence.

@MissMooMoo whoooo go baby!

@RedBlu I don't mind the noise; I love the sound of fans and air conditioning units. I use to work in an MRI department as a nursing auxiliary and I even loved the sound of the machine! It's so weirdly comforting.

@PeachIcedT who actually choose to parallel park ANYWAYS?!? I'm pleased I'm not being too sensitive over the people assuming it was me. A few years back when I was buying my Mini, I took DH with me (back when he was fiancée status!) and they directed all the questions at him. I snapped in the end at the salesman.

I'm jealous you're not hot at night @PeachIcedT!!! My baby has turned into a boiler!!

Following on from @BouncingBlueberry where can I find an underwired nursing bra? I got one from Amazon and it's a soft one but trust me, I need something to hike these girls up!

yellowismyfavourite · 31/03/2017 19:37

@MissMooMoo well done baby!!!!

teainbed · 31/03/2017 19:44

Aw sounds like you all had lovely last days too!

I have the inner thigh/pelvis pain too I think this may improve when I'm not working and running around all the time.

teainbed · 31/03/2017 19:45

Excellent news Moo!

Back luck about the driving test nurse.

Badgerbird · 31/03/2017 19:54

Yay raspberry ticky teainbed and yellow!! No more work!! Smile

mrsjw your hypnobirthing day sounds great :)

rise that made me giggle. Good news that you got a viewing so quick though. Oh and you get to see the sea!

Lovin your optimism newbie! Who you going to see? Just see how you are near the time I guess.

Great news on placenta missmoo! Hope you feel better soon. Brew

blueberry buy whatever undies you like!! I was checking out the gorgeous lacy bralette sets in primark the other day. Think I might treat myself whilst I still have boobs and don't need loads of padding and under wiring to give me a bust!

nurse sorry to hear DH didn't pass this time. It took me 3 goes, there were tears and at one of my tests (they called me whilst in toilet then refused to let me do test) my driving instructor lost it and accused them of being racist!! Mortifying Shock When I finally passed I refused to believe it and just kept crying and saying "why would you say that when I obviously haven't?!" They couldn't wait to see the back of me Confused Didn't learn till I was 27 and love driving now. Hope his confidence hasn't been knocked too much.

FoxMulder · 31/03/2017 19:56

Yay that's fab missmoo!

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 20:07

Bless you @Badgerbird Flowers DH is 32, but he's done so well in a short period of time! I somehow passed first time, but compared to what my friends did and DH did today, my test was quite easy. I just had to reverse into a space and that's it! Back to practising!

BouncingBlueberry · 31/03/2017 20:08

@nursebickypegs have you tried HotMilk? I've got a few from there. I'm having a browse now as they kindly sent me some discount codes.

ClaireSunflower · 31/03/2017 20:11

Sorry about dh's driving test nurse lots of people pass second time so fingers crossed for next time.

I'm glad this week is over. Feeling crap today. Been exhausted all day and so busy and work and since I got home I've had a horrible stomachache. It feels like I've eaten something that's disagreed with my but my whole stomach feels really hard too. I'm having a lie down at the moment and hopefully will feel better later

newbieho · 31/03/2017 20:24

@MissMooMoo well done girl, excellent news 👏

@PeachIcedT @Badgerbird @1004Rise @nursebickypegs if my plan goes well (breastfeeding) I can visualise DH nervously walking around the venue with the pram and screaming baby waiting for me to leave the venue and start feeding 😱 I am not sure if the baby will accept the bottle. We cannot go together ( no childcare option at the mo) so for the next few years will have to split until the baby is old enough to join us. Anyway - I am trying not to worry too much about it, let's see how it goes.

Love reading about everyone's last day in the office or relaxing days or nice weekend plans. Let's keep the positivity going. One of my team colleagues is going for a long - term leave to say goodbye to her very ill mum. We did have a big hug yesterday. It made me to think about the circle of life and appreciate the little one. We are so lucky ladies!

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 31/03/2017 20:56

Yay for last days of work raspberry ticky yellow and tea they sound lovely!

Yay for placenta movement MissMoo

Boo for mood hoover bra salespersons blueberry

Nursebicky sorry about the driving test but also I'm fuming for you regarding yet another absolutely crap performance by your employers. Are you in a union? If not I might be able to recommend someone to speak to if you want to. It sounds like you have a large amount of written evidence of their incompetence and downright meanie behaviour Flowers

RussianCaravanTea · 31/03/2017 21:10

I am only just catching up on the thread and trying to get my head round where everyone is up to! Glad people have had some lovely last days! Definitely feeling lots of hiccoughs from baby now. I'm also in the home birth camp - partly because I was induced last time with DD and I don't fancy the labour ward option again if I don't need it, but we are also 10 minutes from the hospital in case of any difficulty!

Thanks for the reminder of raspberry leaf tea - will dig out my box from the last time round!

RussianCaravanTea · 31/03/2017 21:12

P.S. bras are such a nighmare! I second hotmilk for pretty nursing bras. I am living in a mixture of ancient m and s ones that don't give much support and the jojo sleep bras, plus occasionally putting on a pretty underwired! so tricky and I know my body shape will change again soon...

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 22:10

@dreamofhungarianlanterns I honestly don't know what my manager is playing at if I'm honest. I called Payroll and HR who confirmed that they have the paperwork, but manager claims she has never seen it. She's the worst manager I have encountered in my years in the NHS. Once I get my contract for my new job and it's in place, I'm putting in a huge complaint.

@BouncingBlueberry oooh I'll look now!

vanilla8 · 31/03/2017 22:11

Happy Friday everyone, an extra special one for those who have finished work!
Can't believe I still have 6 weeks left of it, but grateful for the Easter holiday Smile

I too have a tall floor standing dyson fan, but not the hot air one. We love it and it does have a low hum but doesn't disturb my sleep like other fans!

I am running out of bras to wear too, I need underwire as anything else doesn't give me the support I am used to, so keen to hear any more recommendations. Never slept in a bra but obviously will change with Bf and leakage!

Managed to win a nursing chair on eBay for under £20, needs a good clean though!

I plan on popping to my allotment this weekend and collect some stuff before we give it up, there's no way we can continue with it as it is quite big and since we moved further away last year the travelling won't add up.
Need to dig up my rhubarb and blueberry plant, hopefully won't be too much of a struggle!

ShiniBerry · 31/03/2017 22:20

I third hotmilk bras, bought a few at the baby show and they are so comfy and pretty.

Thanks MrsJW Raspberry and Peach for the tip on taking a cushion, (doubt they'd have sofas MissMoo but if they did that would be so much better) i have trouble staying seated as it is so I'll definitely take one.

How annoying that you weren't given a sooner appointment Sipper especially when it's supposed to be urgent. Totally understandable that you needed a good cry after what sounds like a frustrating day.

Thanks for the link Rise will definitely check it out.

Bright I've only been there about a year and a half, they do cards for peoples birthdays but that's it. Rustler it was disappointing at first but i guess I've gotten used to it now.

Sorry about the driving test NurseB. Also so frustrating about your maternity leave issues, especially when you thought it was all sorted. What a totally incompetent manager.

Fantastic news about the placenta MissMoo you must be so relieved!

mightymouse76 · 31/03/2017 22:21

Hi Everyone
I dropped off here early in the last thread to get my head together after a crappy few weeks. That hasn't happened so I thought I'd come back anyway WinkGrin

Congrats to the newly finished mat leave crew! Raspberry, Tea, Yellow and Ticky, and anyone else nearing the end.

I'm another who thought I would be able to work till pretty late, but I am officially massively struggling at 32+3, and feeling utterly useless as a result. I have a quandry though as I've had an absolute shed load of work land, all to be completed by April 30th. If I can do it, it would allow me to pretty much double my planned mat leave from 3 to 4 months, to 7 or 8, so I'm going to give it a go for both our sakes, although it feels very close to the wire given how knackered I am and how mashed my brain is. Hopefully I won't totally balls it up! Confused Will def be setting up studio at home asap.

I want to say a big thanks for all the nice messages abut my mum before I disappeared, and also thank you to teainbed and blueberry for the reassurance on the GD. I've managed to keep my levels under control through a strict diet, and baby is measuring average. My fluid levels have also dropped, not quite to average but better than 3 weeks ago. My placenta hasn't moved though, and apparently it's posterior low which are less likely to clear entirely so all things considered, my consultant has booked me in for a CS as he thinks it's less risky for the boy...who incidentally flipped to breech the day before my scan this week, the little bugger - had hiccups high up for a change. I understand breech is more likely when placenta is still in the way though, as he can't get his head down properly, so can't blame him really. I'm not exactly helping him out here!

So my new due date is either the 9th or 10th of May at 38 weeks Shock. Does anyone have any positive CS stories? I usually pretty pragmatic about these things but I admit I feel a bit crap about knowing I can't attempt a vaginal birth and if I'm honest I think I'll be pretty scared going in for it. Are there any hypno-birth equivalent calming measures for CS mums?

Badger I might have to look at those bralettes you mention! I haven't been wearing a bra so far (yep I started that small), but I think maybe now I need to. And I need to find nursing bras in training bra sizes Grin. I always liked Bodas basics but they didn't cater for A cups - thinking I might see if I finally fit them now?!

I'm going to cut this post off now or I could go on forever, but I've loved the pictures of baby clothes on the line, dogs on hillsides, and nurseries coming together. I hope everyone is feeling as good as is possible tonight with their wriggling bowling balls.

One more thing though - I'd love to do a meet with the London crew if another one is planned? Maybe we could do a park meet now the weather is improving (one with a cafe and a toilet, obvs) Grin
Regents for central(ish) or Victoria Park for Easties?

1004Rise · 31/03/2017 23:00

@MissMooMoo whoop whoop for the moved placentaGrinGrin

@mightymouse76 sorry you've been having a rubbish time, we're always here for you to talk to garble nonsense etc! I think you can still do the hypnobirthing techniques with a CS because it's still about you feeling in control rather than being afraid... so I think you'd be wise to try it given the theatre will be such a foreign environment. @nursebickypegs shared her birth plan for her CS somewhere on this thread so that might be useful for you to look at and think about to help you feel more in control.Flowers

@nursebickypegs tell your DH all the best drivers fail the first time GrinWink but AngryAngryAngry at every one thinking you were taking the test.... sometimes we just can't win Hmm

I like the look of the hot milk bras but I don't want to buy anymore at the moment because I know I'm going to change size (particularly band size) once baby is out think I must be at leas a 36 possibly a 38 from the 32 I was.... Blush

@BouncingBlueberry this is why I do most of my shopping online, I really dislike know-it all shop assistants, not sure if it's just my hormones but you were more restrained than I would have been! AngryBlush

Teaspoon74 · 31/03/2017 23:08

Mighty nice to hear you're ok, or at least bearing-up!! Hope that position of bubs & placenta corrects, but sounds as though you've confidence in your consultant & team. And would love another London meet up!

Vanilla we just had to give our allotment up too Hmm. Props to anyone able to keep up the work but I just know we won't manage it!

Dream - loving "mood Hoover"!

Yay for movement MissMoo.

And better luck for him next time Nurse.
*
Peaches* your spa day sounds lush! Hope work isn't too bad once you're back!

Hope you're feeling a bit better Claire.

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 23:13

@1004Rise I remind him often that I'm a shocking driver who passed first time!

@mightymouse76 here's my CS birth plan;

  • No GA unless medically required
  • K to have skin to skin first, if not possible then D
  • Donate cord for stem cells
  • D to cut cord
  • Screen up unless requested (want to see how we feel on the day as I'm totally gruesome)
  • if Teddy is poorly, D to go with him
  • If Teddy's okay, no disturbances/observations on K or Teddy during the "golden hour" unless requested
  • K to try BF
  • Music if possible

Our personal one

  • only to tell close relatives (parents) that Teddy has arrived, announce to friends & extended family when we are home/following day. We want to romanticise it in a way, spend a few hours staring at him & then tell people!

I'm looking into hypobirthing as well because I get so nervous and fidgety. DH is really good at relaxing me so I might be okay, but I need something to fall back on. We are still deciding over music, TBH I'm considering classic FM/smooth/radio 2 as I find huge relaxation and comfort in the radio.

Like you @mightymouse76 I'm convinced I'll have a new date. They say May 22, but I'm thinking I'll be earlier.

To top the day off, I've discovered stretch marks. NOOOO, I was doing so well.

coxsorangepippin · 31/03/2017 23:20

I feel your pain re the stretch marks. They're fine once they fade but I don't like the look while they are pink and purple and they are ALL OVER my boobs Shock ...and I wanted to spend the summer in the kind of strappy tops I would never wear to work!Grin

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 23:26

@coxsorangepippin mine was all underneath my belly button. I've been feeling seriously unattractive these past few weeks; my freckles have gone crazy, I'm seriously pale, I feel huge and now stretch marks. Sad
