shini ours had sofas there!!!

Popped out today to waitrose and john lewis to get a few things. Absolutely shattered after only spending an hour there. I have a sore/dry throat and stuffy nose so think a cold is coming on and running me down, last night I had just assumed the sneezing was seasonal allergies.
Crawled into bed when I got in hoping for a little nap and upstairs have taken the day off to do some diy and have been hammering away all afternoon Angry I know I am unreasonable to be angry!
Having my scan at 5:20 to check placenta position. Thinking of walking to the bus stop outside mcd and getting a smoothie or milkshake before catching the bus Blush for my throat of course.

savagehk · 31/03/2017 15:51

Fox worth asking if you can join anyway?

RedBlu · 31/03/2017 15:53

@FoxMulder - same sort of thing happened to me but with hypnobirthing classes. Midwife gave me a leaflet about it, I have been calling the number for over two months to try and get on the classes but it always goes to voicemail and I leave a message. Got midwife to check it was the right number and they said to just keep calling, never ever had a response.

I have just given up with trying now as I have left so many messages and no one has any alternative contacts!

MissMooMoo · 31/03/2017 15:53

fox how shit of them!!! They sound like my local leisure centre, nobody knows anything.

1004Rise · 31/03/2017 15:57

@newbieho it'll be fine Grin(disclaimer I have no idea but my fingers are crossed for youSmile )

@MrsJW15 on reflection we thought so, no point getting myself in a state Wink

Tickyboovicki · 31/03/2017 16:02

@teainbed just a general all over pain, with sharper pains down the sides. Seems to have eased off over the last hour so feeling much happier. If it reappears over the weekend I will definitely ring just to be safe, just wanted to get through work first! Baby has been moving lots at normal times though so that was putting my mind at ease 🙂

FoxMulder · 31/03/2017 16:07

They said that the instructor doesn't like people joining half way through but that i could show up and try it! Miraculously I had her number from when I did it over 3 years ago and she said I was OK to join for the last 2 sessions because I have done it before.

Sipperskipper · 31/03/2017 16:18

Went to have bloods done this morning for obstetric cholestasis - arrived & its not till NEXT Friday! So annoying as these are supposed to be 'urgent' bloods -requested Wednesday by MW! My fault, I'd read the online booking thing wrong. Have managed to get an appt for Tuesday. Hormones must be all over the place though as I sat in the car & cried my eyes out!!

1004Rise · 31/03/2017 16:21

Received an email from work today about the new tax free childcare scheme... helpful link in it to .gov website calculator to work out which scheme is better. Looks like we'll be better off on the new system (which surprised me) so I don't need to worry about panicking to sign up to the old one.

Brightsmoke · 31/03/2017 16:37

Shini, the team I work with are the same, so not expecting anything either! Though because I'm now in an office, I don't work with 'my' team anymore, and I've only known these guys for 6 months.

One of my colleagues told me his dyson fan was rubbish on the first few settings, but then on the settings it made a difference to, it was so loud he couldn't sleep, is that accurate or did he have a faulty one? You wouldn't think a fan would be a problem when I have a air conditioning engineer as a dad AND husband Hmm Funnily enough, my dad and in laws both have air conditioned houses Angry useless husband

DH and I have maternity unit tour tomorrow, after I get new tyres on my car and go to town to change my name on my bank account, only been married 11 months, that's not too bad surely Grin Hoping the weather stays lovely and DH is planning a roast on the BBQ for Sunday, I love being married to an ex chef Grin

How did your DH get on Nurse?

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 17:11

DH failed Sad didn't check his mirrors enough. That's the only thing. I keep reminding him that at least this was something to work on and he didn't cause a major accident! Going to book him in again at the end of the month when he's off again. We were sat waiting and everyone kept asking ME if it was my first test, am I passing so I can drive baby about... then the instructor came out and went "D W?" & looked at me! No everyone the heavily pregnant lady passed on her 17th birthday, bugger off!!!

Today has been a headache. Got home to a letter from work claiming that they can't put me on maternity as they have never seen my request form or MATB1, and also asking if I would consider returning to work for April/May. Because I'm really fastidious; I scanned in all the paperwork, dates & times when I handed them in and telephone calls to HR. I furiously rang them back and manager says she can't recall seeing them. I asked how payroll sent me confirmation with her signature on then? & what do you know, the forms are "sorted" and everything is fine. FFS!!! AngryAngry

@newbieho I'm considering going to a gig in July, but everyone pulls the Hmm face and says "ooooh isn't it too soon?" I'm going to hold off for now...

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 17:15

@RasperryInAMelon the Dyson fans are stupidly expensive but apparently silent. The pawnbrokers in my town has the huge one for £180 but I'm not 100% sure if that's a good price or not.

1004Rise · 31/03/2017 17:21

@RasperryInAMelon @nursebickypegs yes ridiculously expensive.... cheapest I could find http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/am09white/dyson-am09white-heater?refsource=Apadwords&gclid=CjwKEAjwPfGBRDWWsutqMbQsmMSJAAMpUapL1s1Y-j7PyyeLO-R5FFmMkTZjQv3HpyGscwx91WkhoCr8Pw_wcB

Shock
EsmesBees · 31/03/2017 17:30

The fans are by no means silent. It's a low hum I'd say. And may be louder if you turn them up. I had no idea they were so expensive when I recommend them earlier Blush I got ours for much less than that from one of our local selling sites.

Newbie the gig should be fine, but it will depend how you are feeding and if the little one is willing to take a bottle.

Nurse your HR sound useless! Well done for getting it sorted.

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 17:58

@1004Rise oh my LORD. I love my Bub but he's not having that! Also slightly concerned that my parents have 2 of these!! the one in the pawnbrokers seems to be a good deal, I might see if it's still in!

@EsmesBees it's the infamous manager who never completed my pregnancy risk assessment! I'm really organised when it comes to stuff like this, as it always goes wrong.

I'm so tired and drained today. Roll on bedtime. At least I got a load of washing done and dry on the line.

1004Rise · 31/03/2017 18:08

@nursebickypegs @EsmesBees I suspect they may be like everything else dyson, you need to keep an eye out for the deals in places like Argos when they randomly cut the prices in half. On a completely different topic have you seen the price of the hairdryer no way I could ever justify spending that much! Grin

Decided to bite the bullet and have started washing baby clothes and pulled my hospital bag out again, after my initial flurry it's still only half packed. Not sure I really know what's missing though Hmm

Rustler74 · 31/03/2017 18:14

@nursebickypegs your HR person sounds like the one in my London trust: useless and rude! What a nuisance! Sorry about your husband! Was it a really petty examinator guy? And the way they looked at you instead of him .

@ShiniBerry quite low expectations... I don't think I could work on that kind of environment where people can't be bothered to do a little bit of social stuff! We at least have our lunch all together and we have a good giggle but when everyone's busy it's very quiet in the office and we put our heads down.
Good luck with nct course, I hope it's as good as mine x

yellowismyfavourite · 31/03/2017 18:21

@RaspberryInAMelon @tickyboovicki @teainbed glad you had nice last days. I have been totally spoilt with gifts including a huge hamper from my colleagues full of stuff for the baby. It was so lovely but very overwhelming and I am not sure I really thanked everyone properly... am not good at being centre of attention. Will email everyone tonight to write what I should have said.

nurse sorry for your husband but better luck next time.

Can't remember who was asking about hiccups but my baby hiccups at least two or three times a day. The only negative I have heard is if it continues a lot after birth it can make feeding more difficult

Does anyone else get cramps running from their groin to the inside of their thighs? Is this a new form of PGP or linked to BH as it seems to happen at similar times?

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 18:29

@Rustler74 DH took it in his car, which is our old old 1997 Peugeot estate. DH can't drive our Juke as it's owned by my trust who don't accept learner drivers. The car is old, but hard to park... So DH got parallel parking! I personally think that's really unfair. I appreciate they have a job to do, but I feel they marked him harshly. I asked DH about his mirrors and he said he did (he always does!) and the examiner claims he was "checking the wrong ones". The other 2 people who went before him both failed too; I saw a young teenage girl crying and I felt so sad for her.

I was really wound up by the instructors thinking it was me taking the test. I don't know why, I just thought it was really old fashioned. The instructors seemed surprised when DH raised his hand and said he was DW. When DH was on his test, another walked in and asked what time my test was. Bugger offfffffffffff!

@1004Rise i think I might bite the bullet and just buy another fan which is expensive, but not £300+++ expensive! Am I being silly but doesn't the Dyson fan act as a heater as well?!

I'm in a bad mood today. Sorry everyone Sad

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 18:30

Ps fun fact; the Peugeot is the car my Grandpa use to pick me up from school in! ITS THAT OLD!

Tickyboovicki · 31/03/2017 18:45

Last day at work done! Had my 'early' birthday treats then they had done a collection and brought me some lovely little baby gifts and a mothercare gift card, but thankfully one of my closest friends works in the same role as me and knew I'd hate opening it in front of everyone, so gave it to me in the office 🙂 Then everyone just came in to say goodbye/good luck etc.

Lovely end to the day!
Also stomach pains feeling much better. If it happens again I will ring the midwife but thanks to those who offered advice!

RasperryInAMelon · 31/03/2017 18:50

@1004Rise thanks for the link re childcare vouchers - will be sure to have a read!

@Brightsmoke very jealous of you going on your maternity unit tour. The next one at ours is the same day as our last NCT class so I have to wait till the May one which is the week before my due date! I may or may not make it... 🙄😕

@nursebickypegs sorry to hear about DH, like you say though at least it's something to work on.

I'm cross on your behalf re the work situation. The sooner you're out of there the better!

Had a lovely end to my last day too. No massive fuss made, but lots of cake and work provided me with a 'pre baby' gift of some handmade bedding which our in house seamstress made, a blanket, gorgeous teddy bear and a lovely baby towel. Apparently I can have the rest in exchange for cuddles once little lady arrives and I bring her in! ☺

So nice to be making the train journey home on a quiet train on a nice day that's running on time with DH meeting me at the station so I don't have to cart it all home myself!

BouncingBlueberry · 31/03/2017 18:55

Anyone got any big girl pants to hand? I seem to have lost all mine and have been an emotional wreck all day. Didn't help when a shop assistant told me in MnS that "you shouldn't be going for that type of bra in your condition dear, let me show you where the nursing bras are" yes thanks I know where they are but I just wanted something slightly pretty to cheer me up. The bra I hand in my hand was a non wired bralet type thing.

MissMooMoo · 31/03/2017 19:01

My placenta has moved!! Baby is head down and ready to go.
They estimate him/her to be about 7 lbs at 40 weeks.

RasperryInAMelon · 31/03/2017 19:01

@BouncingBlueberry no big girl pants needed babe - sounds like she was a patronising old mare - I'd have told her where to go! 💐
