@nursebickypegs Disneyland was amazing. It is their 25th anniversary this year and last weekend they had huge celebrations for it. On Saturday night John Legend did a surprise performance and I danced with Bean & Turnip danced with her daddy to beauty & the beast. Was so magical.

We want to go to Orlando in 2019, we will be celebrating mine & DH's 30ths, and bean will be 9, turnip 6 and spud 2.

Wishing your other half good luck for tomorrow 🚗🚘

@Autumnsweater from memory I think we were around 3wk afterwards. We used condoms to begin with then I went back on the pill.

They spoke about contraception to me before they would discharge me from hospital. My health visitor also spoke to me about it when she came for one of the early visits.

@Rustler74 @RasperryInAMelon and @1004Rise** I am a bridesmaid when I am 37+2! (6th May) ... I have also stupidly offered to have the children of the bride & groom on the evening of the wedding!
Luckily, it is a family wedding so if anything begins I can leave my children there and go have myself a baby. We are hoping for a homebirth but a wedding birth is pushing it a bit too far 😂

So today we ordered our new car which will be delivered late April.
So that's a new car, new house & new baby. 🚘🏰👶🏼 I'm feeling spoilt.

BH - haven't really calmed down but they aren't hurting. I am having more 'leaks' / damp underwear but I haven't called. My instinct is telling me it's nothing to worry about. I'm at the hospital on Tuesday for our 32wk growth scan. So going to hold out until then, unless something else changes.

I am sooo jealous of all you that are finishing work tomorrow. How long is everyone planning on taking off work? I leave on 28th April and return 5th March next year.

MrsJW15 · 30/03/2017 21:48

Esmes uber can refuse to take a passenger but black cabs wont. I think Hailo is the app for black cabs. Alternatively some minicabs will take you - worth checking who in advance.

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 21:55

@beanturnipandspud I knew it was a celebration this year, only because my mum has a photo of me with a eurodisney tshirt on and I remember it was from the opening day. A friend of hers went bought it back. THAT SOUNDS AMAZING!!! We are doing 2019, but I've been told I can't be pregnant Grin

EsmesBees · 30/03/2017 22:18

Thanks MrsJW. I didn't even know there was a black can app. My waters had to be broken last time and I didn't get sick or anything so would have been fine in a cab, but I can see why some drivers don't want the risk.

yellowismyfavourite · 30/03/2017 22:29

tea ticky hooray for your last day too... hope you enjoy it. Do you have any plans for your first week?
bean I am off til January then going back part time

Badgerbird · 30/03/2017 23:02

Thanks jw I'll give it a go.raspberry I know what you mean, belly looks so strange without!! Amazed it lasted that long on a normal bar really.

dream I loved your update!!Grin

Good luck to DH nurseb!

lucie glad cramps have eased off. I bought a gorgeous red changing bag (first thing I bought @ 6 months) and a normal rucksack that both DH and I can use with sling.

Glad growth scan went well barnes :) I don't seem to feel the effects of my low blood pressure 84/48. Mines always been pretty low though so is that why?

First hypnobirthing class tonight... it was ok, a bit basic so shall see what the rest of the course brings.....

Barnes79 · 31/03/2017 06:25

Nurse Blueberry my grandparents and mum are from near Grimsby! A little place called Great Limber. Small world eh?!

BouncingBlueberry · 31/03/2017 06:38

@Barnes79 Back in the day I went to many a good barn party in Great Limber.

teainbed · 31/03/2017 07:38

Good luck today raspberry, yellow and ticky. Will you be doing something at work? Mine normally does a leaving thing at coffee time with food and stuff, which I don't like the thought of because I'll be expected to say something! But then if there's no thing maybe they don't like me enough! Confused The next two weeks are school holidays so I'd be off anyway it's probably after that it'll feel strange.

jennymac31 · 31/03/2017 08:49

Morning ladies

Haven't checked in for a few days, as have just been cream crackered.

Had my meeting with my manager on Wednesday, who was totally understanding. She was surprised that my consultant had recommended I finish work now but she told me to have a word with the consultant at my next appointment and if anything changes for the worse or consultant still thinks I should finish then she'll sort something out accordingly.

From reading the threads it seems as though a lot of us are definitely heading towards the home straight.

Keep thinking about the whole periminium massage thing. Dh and I attempted it in prep for dd but not sure if it actually did anything, as I still tore. Guess there's no harm in giving it another try.

Will definitely be going back on the pill when I've had my 6 weeks check up. Doubt I'd be in the mood to get jiggy with it at that time anyway but better to be safe than sorry.

Saw the news about the radfords expecting baby no 20! Am chuffed for them but am stopping at 2. Dh is no 7 out of 11 kids and I have no idea how his parents did it but it's amazing watching his family when they get together for celebrations.

Rabbitykins55 · 31/03/2017 09:20

Is blood taken at the 34 week appointment? Mine is this morning and my veins are so rubbish I was told to drink loads of water before but I can't remember if it's this one or 36! I don't want to drink it unnecessarily as I already need a wee!

savagehk · 31/03/2017 09:26

Shouldn't need any more bloods unless something was out of line at a previous test, I think? I was expecting bloods at my 34w as my platelets were up at my 28w test, but the lovely midwife just said 'let's not go looking for problems' after I told her I was sick as a dog at the 28w appt, and platelets do go up with illness/infection.

Brightsmoke · 31/03/2017 09:38

Good luck to everyone finishing work today. I still have Monday and half of Tuesday to get through, urgh! Had a fry up at work with colleagues today though to celebrate. But then technically I'm A/L until 1st May anyway... Going to be off until 1st May 2018, so a nice 13 months in total :)

Good luck to your DH Nurse

Tried the perineal massage last night, (Thanks for the tips Dream) wasn't the most enjoyable experience of my life Hmm but if it stops/reduces tearing then I will stick with it. I hope our babies appreciate what we are going through for them Grin

Rustler74 · 31/03/2017 10:03

No no no, I really can't bear the thought of the perineal massage. Sorry guys but what will happen if I don't do it?

Just put on a wash of baby clothes! Started packing the hospital bag as well now that I e done some purchases for that earlier this week. Exciting! Now chilling on sofa and baby kicking away in anticipation of my evening out with future daddy! We are going to my previous home town and swinging to the tunes of a really good cover band. Now what to wear...

Good times for those finishing today. Are you celebrating too?

RasperryInAMelon · 31/03/2017 10:11

Happy last day for everyone who's finishing up today! I celebrated last night by crashing out in bed at 8.30pm and slept solidly through till 4.30am!... annoyingly couldn't get back to sleep after that and am shattered already!

Still... I arrived at work to an array of pink balloons tied to my chair and fresh cream pavlova for breakfast homemade by a colleague ☺

@Rustler74 and @1004Rise I'm holding out on buying a dress for a few weeks for the wedding. Don't want to jinx it and not fit!

@yellowismyfavourite I'm the same, going on A/L first, Mat Leave starts on May 3rd so hoping she stays put till then!

@nursebickypegs I think Mollys gone transverse too annoyingly, but will speak to MW on Monday.

@nursebickypegs I've been worrying about the impending weather changes that have been in the papers. Usually I'd be super happy about a heatwave but I don't know about coping with a baby in the heat.

@beanturnipandspud I'll be returning to work after 9 months on SMP so early Feb for me. Hoping to make arrangements with my boss to reduce my hours a touch so I can finish at 4.30 each day.

@Rabbitykins55 And @savagehk My MW said bloods and urine every two weeks now 😒 sounds delightful eh...

@Rustler74 the massage reduces the risk of tearing and or needing an episiotomy apparently 😕

Has anyone got any plans for the weekend?

MrsJW15 · 31/03/2017 10:25

Happy last day to all those finishing today! I still have four weeks to go, although my replacement starts on Monday.

Tried the perineal massage last night (alone, DH Is away) but not sure if I quite knew what I was doing!

Sunday I have my hypnobirthing session. I hope it's good - it's only four hours, which on reflection isn't long. But then our weekends are so booked up already! It seems to be followed by lunch and a session on baby sleeping which should be good. I've then organised a mini-hen for a friend (I can't go to the real one in May) which involves a pedicure. Looking forward to that!

teainbed · 31/03/2017 10:26

That's so lovely raspberry! Nice of your colleagues. Everyone has a slot blocked out and I've been told to go to the meeting room for the same time so there is a leaving thing happening clearly.

Rustler perineal massage was never recommended before with my other DC so I've never done it either and never torn. Which is partly due to luck and how the deliveries were managed I suspect but who knows.

EsmesBees · 31/03/2017 10:35

It's not that bad rustler just a bit weird. Give it a go, it is meant to help.

That is lovely Raspberry! Bet you can't believe your last day is here.

The dyson fans are great for keeping little ones cool in a heat wave. But it's not actually that bad when they are tiny and you can keep them out of the sun. They need feeding more than normal though.

Tickyboovicki · 31/03/2017 11:16

We have a birthday rota and as I'll be off for my birthday (late may) the person who organises mine came in with cake and treats which was a nice surprise! Hoping no embarrasing staff meeting to say goodbye later Blush

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 11:35

@RasperryInAMelon I'm so uncomfortable and I can feel his kicks are in a different place. Last night I barely slept and woke up hot, so the fan was bought in. It was so warm last year, so I think I'm planning to strip him to his nappy for most of the time.

@EsmesBees I'd love a Dyson fan! DH gets a bonus next month so I might flutter my eyelashes at him.

jennymac31 · 31/03/2017 11:38

Apologies if I'm going mad or suffering from strange example of pregnancy brain, but I swear I recall someone asking advice on baby hiccups (several threads ago) and whether they should be concerned or not. Baby boy has been doing funny movements for the last 20 mins or so and they feel more like hiccups then kicks. Just wondering if it's worth phoning midwife or not.

Raspberryinmelon - have the in-laws 50 wedding anniversary celebrations tomorrow and they've paid for everyone to stay overnight. They're quite well known in the community so expecting lots of people to be there (not to mention my dh's 10 siblings and their families etc). Plan is to just sit in the corner with my sister-in-law who's also pregnant, as am not in the mood to waddle around trying to mingle with people I'm probably not going to see again (I know that sounds horrible and very unfriendly). Thankfully have Monday off to recuperate.

nursebickypegs · 31/03/2017 11:49

@jennymac31 I asked my MW about hiccups. A pregnant friend told me that it's a sign of a baby in distress, and she was monitored for 24hrs. I had them for a few hours and my MW told me it was an old wives tale. Still I'll give her a call as it's always always always better safe than sorry.

McBaby · 31/03/2017 11:58

I have had hiccups through all three pregnancies no cause for concern as far as I am aware, as long as baby is moving normally.

teainbed · 31/03/2017 11:59

Always call if you're concerned about a change in movement. But I've have tons of monitoring and CTGs over three pregnancies and loads of hiccuping babies and nobody seemed remotely concerned!

1004Rise · 31/03/2017 11:59

So house officially went on the market this morning, isn't even on the website yet and I get a phone call at 9.30 from Estate Agent saying really sorry for the short notice but could you do a viewing at 11.15. Cue mad panic tidy up, hoover etc and me only remembering I'm pregnant about 45 minutes in to rushing around and then needing to sit down for 10 minutes BlushThrew the dogs in the car and ran out the house with about 5 minutes to spare. DH was supposed to go into work as it's his actual last day (after being off on leave since the end of January) which was fine til we remembered halfway there that we can't take dogs on the base and I don't have ID anymore Blush So I had to drop him off at the gates and let him walk Confused I'm now sitting in the car with the dogs waiting for him to call to get picked up, I am looking out at the sea so it has some benefits! Will be unimpressed if she doesn't want to buy the house!! Hmm

Note to self I need twice as long as normal to do stuff so don't agree to viewings with less than 2 hours notice!!

Hope everyone else's day is less chaotic...!!!
