Lucie they may not still do this, but two years ago I got a free changing bag from boots with a pack of nappies.

teainbed · 30/03/2017 18:48

lucie I'm 35+1 today. Eek!

nurse what's the plan for getting to the hospital if he doesn't pass? Good luck to DH anyway.

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 18:53

@teainbed he can drive with me in the car, as I'm having a planned CS due to Bub's heart and my dodgy hips, we will know the date so he's booking annual leave.

Barnes79 · 30/03/2017 19:01

The good news is I don't need another growth scan! The bad news is I'm really starting to feel the effects of my low blood pressure (it was apparently 90/65 yesterday!). I've spent most of the afternoon feeling a bit light-headed despite drinking lots of water all day. On the plus side, I only had one patient this afternoon and as he arrived 35mins late I only chatted to him so could sit down throughout.

Last day with patients tomorrow, then 3 days next week helping out with admin stuff and then annual leave until mat leave starts at the end of May.Grin

teainbed · 30/03/2017 19:14

But how do you get home then Nurse?

teainbed · 30/03/2017 19:15

Oh sorry I'm being thick. You can supervise him driving!

Rustler74 · 30/03/2017 19:17

Hurray @Barnes79 ! Nearly finished sounds great! It'll be odd when I'm not clinical anymore! I already miss my 'caseload' bug time!

@RasperryInAMelon hurray only one more day!

I love my job and my colleagues but today it drove me up the wall that I didn't have work to do! I'm torn between feeling heavy (belly!)and reluctant to get up on working days and wanting more clinical work. My task at the moment is to keep track of the urgent list and normal variant, offer them appointments if they're likely to just need some advice or a programme before being discharged. Such different work from when I worked abroad! The rest will be about ordering and chasing up equipment and orthotics, but I think there'll be some boring moments...

@nursebickypegs I'll keep my fingers x for your OH tomorrow!

@RasperryInAMelon and @1004Rise I'll also be attending a wedding at 38 weeks! My friend the bride said she will make sure that one of the other guests (gp and friend of groom) will be aware of my presence. Not sure if I would want a stranger between my legs (@Teaspoon74 Lol!!!) I bought a gorgeous dress for it and I will go, although my hospital bag will be in the boot...

Greet

yellowismyfavourite · 30/03/2017 19:48

teaspoon it feels like baby has been trying to drill it's head down my cervix today! Really weird feeling! Finish work tomorrow but ML doesn't officially start til the 18th so am calling it holiday very clearly to send the message to baby to not come yet!!
rise I think pigs get morning sickness. There wa a thing about it on radio 2 when I was really bad so was very interested in the answer!
lucie glad your feeling better

Last day of work tomorrow... so relieved to have made it and hoping that the PGP will get less once I am not rushing around as much. raspberry enjoy your last day too... I do not miss London commutes and feel sorry for all of you that have to manage. My commute is a half hour drive each way which is nothing in comparison!

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 20:03

@teainbed baby brain! Our only worry is if I stay in for a few days, but there's the hotel and family have offered to drive him back if needed. My consultant says I'll be in 24hrs tops.

I agree with @yellowismyfavourite, I don't know how you all do London commutes. I could not cope!!

I think Bub has turned and is kind of transverse. My tummy has changed shape and it's SO uncomfortable.

EsmesBees · 30/03/2017 20:08

Good luck to your DH nurse

Good news about the scan Barnes and that your second nct class was better.

We might well end up getting an uber to and from the hospital. There is no parking anywhere nearby, and only very limited and expensive parking at the hospital.

It's a rare evening when we are both at home tonight so been up in the loft sorting through the bags and bags of baby stuff. Some of the clothes bring back such strong memories of when DD was tiny. Can't believe there is going to be another little person wearing them soon.

teainbed · 30/03/2017 20:10

So yellow, raspberry and me all finish tomorrow then? Grin what are we doing to celebrate?

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 20:15

@EsmesBees I wish we could do an uber. Where we live, we have no maternity services. We had to chose between 2 in Nottingham, one in Sheffield, and one in a town in Mansfield. All of them on a good day are about 45mins, to get to QMC in Nottingham in rush hour is over an hour and a bit, especially with parking! We are going to Mansfield as the unit is brand new, and parking is right outside. Plus the CQC report was quite good.

Tickyboovicki · 30/03/2017 20:16

@Rustler74 I also have a wedding at 38 weeks, where did you find a dress? Really don't want to feel like I'm wearing a tent!

@teainbed can you add me to the celebration list 😊 1 more day to go over here too!

MrsJW15 · 30/03/2017 20:17

Esmes we are planning to get a taxi/uber to and from the hospital. We don't have a car!

BouncingBlueberry · 30/03/2017 20:17

@nursebickypegs we could have been on a ward together if you'd gone for Sheffield!

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 20:23

@BouncingBlueberry oh my god, can you imagine!!! Sheffield is over an hour away, but it's a bit too far away for family as DH's family are Birmingham bound and my parents live in Cambridgeshire! I love Sheffield city though as everyone talks like me aka proper! Grin

BouncingBlueberry · 30/03/2017 20:39

@nursebickypegs I'm northern Lincolnshire so took me a while to get used to slang terms. But it's reet good here.

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 21:01

@BouncingBlueberry my grandpa & Mum are from Grimsby so I've picked it up off them. I drop letters from words all over the place and I don't think I've ever said the word "the" in my life. T'shop, t'baby, t'car...

savagehk · 30/03/2017 21:05

We taxid to and from hospital last time (we don't own a car although we can both drive), but you should check in advance they'll take a woman in labour...

savagehk · 30/03/2017 21:07

ticky i think Isabella Oliver's dresses are great but expensive, although they do seem to resell well. Otherwise usual trick is a maxi dress.

BouncingBlueberry · 30/03/2017 21:08

@nursebickypegs I'm from Grimsby originally! Moved over here for my other half. Would have preferred to have given birth in Grimsby. My mum is a pharmacist and my sister is a nurse and they know everyone in the hospital so I know my care would have been good. Jessop Wing hasn't got the greatest reputation here.

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 21:14

@BouncingBlueberry is that the Princess Diana? My friend had her little girl in Grimsby Hospital (they live outside of Boston) and they were great. It's nice to be in a hospital that's familiar; I wanted to have Bub in QMC @ Nottingham as I worked there and lived in Nottingham but my midwife pushed for Mansfield due to CQC reports, and that the unit is really brand new. In some ways I wish I stuck with my gut but when I saw the Kingsmill unit I was really impressed.

Rustler74 · 30/03/2017 21:21

@Tickyboovicki I got a blue lace overlay dress from Jojo, failing that I'll fit in my stretchy laura Ashley maxi dress!

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 21:30

Also pointless worry of the day; having a baby in hot weather. I've had a proper worry about it today!

EsmesBees · 30/03/2017 21:30

Good point savage. I just had a Google and there are a fair few stories of ubers refusing to take women in labour. Doesn't seem to be a policy either way though. It's only a ten minute ride away and if I get desperate there are a few people we can ask for a lift.
