Hello! Just posted a reply to LG&T on the old thread and cross posted. Doh.

Hey Megglevache. Great to have you on more regularly now.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 11:57

Morning all, is it still morning?

Have been to a coffee shop type nursery\toddlers place. Looks quite good and there were lots of people there too. Trouble is nobody really spoke to me, there is a bit of a rank issue going on (its for service families) and it is on an estate for lower and senior rates. DH is an officer so i had some funny looks, people are soooo weird it doesnt bother me in the slightest. I talk to everyone, it's like reverse snobbery

Thanks TYG it does look like they have a pool at Derriford, hooray. I may even manage to get in it before the baby arrives. You are right, im opting for hospital as im just not sure how comfortable i would be having the baby at MIL's. She does have floorboards everywhere so good for wiping up blood and amniotic fluid though

Im going to toddlers later too, Hugs will be all socialised out by tonight! My cupboards are pitiful untill the shopping arrives tonight, hungry, hungry......

Meggle good to have you back, some of us have posted recent bumps on our profiles (see little yellow symbol next to our names) I may start showing pics of my thighs though as they seem to be growing at an alarming rate compared to the bump

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 12:48

How very, very odd about the rank thing. People are weird. You'd think service wives would stick together regardless.

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 12:54

I want to go and get a Starbucks strawberries and cream frappucino thingy. I had loads of them last week. I'm addicted.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 12:56

That sounds very nice TYG, i want one now. We have a starbucks in Plymouth so i may get to sample one soon.......no KK's there though

Im having withdrawl symptoms as i have had at least 3 a day since friday

Am off to toddlers now, Hugs has still not had a sleep so it may be disastrous. Never mind, im sick of these four walls and the washing basket.

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 12:59

Oooh, you should try one. They're yummy. I also love the Mocha frappucinos. I'm sitting here deciding which one I'll get. Mind on the job today, obviously.

Gingerbear · 05/03/2007 13:11

let me get a word in edgeways here. I don't often post, as you lot are such windbags,
Just thought that I'd let you know that I went to the Sheffield Spa meet-up on Saturday and met drkgpink, who is lovely.
I had a pregnancy massage that involved 55 blissful minutes relaxing on a beanbag whilst having back legs arms and bump massaged. Highly recommended!

Any one had any antenatal classes yet? They have stopped the 6 week sessions they did here 5 yrs ago - and have introduced a 3 hour workshop - mine is next Saturday at the local Children's centre.

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 13:54

Who me? Windbag? Surely not?

That massage sounds fab. They do a pregnancy spa day at the posh gym up the road from me. DH actually suggested I go, so now I just have to remind him and get the money.

aprilmeadow · 05/03/2007 15:28

Windbags - heeeeee heeeeeee. Welcome back Megglevache

LG&T - hope you had a time at toddlers. I was brave and have made an appt with a female dr tomorrow pm. Still think i will die of

Took Jack to arts & crafts this morning where we painted, played with sand & water etc. Very good fun. Then zipped over to meet the lovely Lupins Off loaded all of my boy clothes and went for a lunch. Got forced [oh yes i was dont laugh] to purchase some of Hotel Chocolat's finest confection. Ds was actually on his best behaviour for a change!

Lupins, lovely to put a face to a name and to meet you. Have to do it again some time. Thanks for the sheets.

Lwatkins · 05/03/2007 15:31

My goodness it's very quiet on here today, something I don't know about mmmmm? Oh sorry, Afternoon All

Oh and where's SOH been, has she been kidnapped by gingerbread men maybe..... Not much to report this end, only woke up about an hour ago. This student business is hard work - yawn!

Oh, I have strentchmarks on my boobs! WHY? Don't have them anywhere else on my body, yet have them on my boobs. The one regional place on my body that seems small and that hasn't really grown and I have effing stretchmarks on them. And there not clear or white marks, oh no no. There huge big red things that look bloody awful. I say again, WHY? I swear, one baby only for me. Can't put up with all this crap again.

cinnamontam · 05/03/2007 15:48

Morning all - it is a bit quiet here, or maybe everyone's just knackered like me and lifting open the laptop is just too much like hard work

Hey Megglevache - whoo hoo on the own laptop front. Many hours of happy surfing ahead of you

Lwatkins - I'd be pissed off too I haven't had any yet but like LG&T my thighs are off doing their own frightening growth spurt.

Hope you all had good weekends

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 15:51

OOOOOOOh the massage sounds lovely! TYG you should def go for one, i would love to join you, then we could nip to starbucks grab a frapuccino and a KK. Oh that would be my kind of heaven.....dream on LG&T.

AM you met Lupins, where is she? Potentially we could all meet up, we just need MRSJB to be in the country and TYG and SOH on mat leave, i could bring Pebble and hazah a meet up. We should def arrange a major meet for everyone after we have all popped, i would gladly travel to a mid point so we could all see each other and our babies! Imagine the photo of all the babies lined up!!!

I went to toddlers and Hugo had a lovely time playing with the toy kitchen, he really loves them. He has only had a short nap so should crash earlyish tonight (fingers crossed)

Lwatkins......out of bed at 3pm??? Oh to be a student again

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 16:09

DD's dad has just put ?1000 in my account. Wooohoo! He is completely unreliable about money but I never complain as he tends to put in a lump sum like that when he has it. He's a great dad and I don't "need" the money, iyswim. The poor bloke is trying to buy a house on the low-paid workers' scheme and still can't afford it.

Anyway, I'm very excited as it will cover the cost of the stupidly expensive Mountain Buggy, which means I can order it now. Yay!

So c'mon ladies. Help me choose a colour.

I originally really fancied this one Baroque but now I'm wondering if I'll be sorry in 18 mths becuase I didn't get something plain.

I'm not mad keen on getting black. I'm not sure why - probably just because EVERY MB I see is in black. Don't want red becuase all the P&Ts I see are red. You can get all these colours and I like the green and the plum, but again, am I going to be p'ssed off in the end because they're impractical or shock-horror, "unfashionable" before long. Maybe I should get a dark plain one and "jazz it up" with accessories if I'm that worried about it.

This is pathetic isn't it? I'm now not choosing so much stuff (having been loaned things - which is great), that I really want to go to town on this single "big" item I'm buying.

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 16:10

Oh, my Euro sign didn't work. That's Euros not pounds. Not that I'm complaining.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 16:18

I like Baroque TYG, i also like soft blue dot and navy dot, and plum dot. Decisions, decisions.....are you getting the very cute carrycot too? I saw someone with a very trendy baby in the carrycot the other day and even DH said "oh look, cool buggy and cute baby"! I said i know TYG is getting one of those, i bet her baby looks that cute too. I would go for plain and get a crazy footmuff, you might get bored of the colour. Although it is not too bonkers like the others. Hmmmmmmmm, am i helping????

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 16:23

NO! You're no help at all!

I liked the soft blue but I think it's just TOO impractical isn't it? It will show up every sodding mark.

The carrycots come in the plain colours - they don't do the "designer fabric" in those anyway, so I could get a different colour carrycot to the buggy becuase there aren't any bits that need to "match".

Oh the trauma. I mean, it's SO much money. I'd be SICK if I spend £650 on this and then didn't like it. The stockists don't have all the colours on display you see - only the black.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 16:23

I should add that DH has been buggy researching and decided that he likes the bugaboo gecko. He says Hugs can stand on the board they do for it, we played with it in John Lewis the other day. If we do get it i will sell the P&T and the Quinny Zapp i have, anyone want either? I have the doubles kit for the P&T and the matching footmuff and doubles storm cover.

I love it but want the baby in a carrycot as we spend so much time on the beach in the summer a buggy is too hot and Hugs wants to walk most places now so if i can avoid a double i will (sob)

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 16:25

I think you are right with the light blue, it would show everything. The navy is not so girly though but then if you have a boy next would you put him in a plum coloured pushchair? Helpful i know......

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 16:29

Well I was wondering that about hte baroque as well - would a boy look a bit stupid in it?
Actually, if I had another baby in the next couple of years I'd be looking for a double wouldn't I, so it doesn't matter. And if I don't have another one for say, three years, wouldn't this one be wrecked and need replacing? Or is that fuzzy logic?

Muppet, muppet, muppet.

The navy is practical, (and not black) but it's just a bit DULL.

Maybe I should look at what thingys can go in it - footmuffs or whatever they are and see if I can just get something jazzy.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 16:33

Good plan, the buggy snuggles are lovely. I like the matching mountain buggy ones too but they are boring colours. I love the stoke xplory footmuffs but not sure how they would look in another buggy. I really want an xplory just cos i love the colours they do

Will look too

ShowOfHands · 05/03/2007 16:34

Hello pregnant people!

Just running in and running out really. With holidays having to be taken before ML I only have 4 weeks left at work altogether so must do some constructive library type shennanigans before my replacement starts. I figure a couple of days of concentrated effort and I can be back MNing to my heart's content. So, I may not be as chatty as usual for the next couple of days (although that's probably a relief to the majority as I only seem to talk about gingerbread anyway ).

Oh to be abducted by gingerbread men, my revenge would be sweet...

Things chez SOH are tickety-boo. Actually bought something for Mathilda at the weekend- a duffel coat which won't fit her until Christmas. Not entirely constructive but it's sweet.

Lwatkins- I only have stretch marks on my boobs and thighs. Looks a bit like Freddy Kruger has taken a swipe at my chest- bright red and angry looking things. Still, I care not. Am in perenially sunny optimistic I'm pregant and loving it mood today.

LG&T saw the Jonah thread and was going to post 'one of my favouritest ever MNers has an adorable Jonah and it's a beautiful name'. And it is a beautiful name. I know an adult Jonah and he's impossibly good looking and lovely.

Anybody got strong feelings about moses baskets? FIL's going to build us a cot but not only is he marginally incapacitated by the accident, we won't have room for it until we move. Is a moses basket a good stop gap?

Must do more work....

Hope everybody's well.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 16:37

TYG this one this one

twelveyeargap · 05/03/2007 16:39

I bought you a gingerbread Easter bunny in Starbucks today. It's hard gingerbread though, not the squishy kind. Do you like that? Will put an email address up later so you can tell me where to send it. Don't want to put my usual address on here as it's my surname. (I ate mine from the ear down - in case anyone is wondering! )

I think Moses basket would be a fine stopgap - the cheapest option as well. You can get them VERY resonably, even brand new. DD slept in one for a couple of months before I was given a cot.

largeginandtonic · 05/03/2007 16:41

for SOH
